The iPhone 16‌ Pro models are said to be equipped with larger batteries than their predecessors. The ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus, in contrast, might see a downgrade in battery capacity compared to last year’s model, according to details that have surfaced online.

As per the leak, the iPhone 16 will carry a 3,561mAh battery and the iPhone 16 Plus could pack a 4,006mAh battery. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is tipped to feature a 4,676mAh battery. The battery details of the iPhone 16 Pro are not available at this moment. The top-end iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to see an internal redesign in the battery setup, using a rectangular shape instead of an L-shaped one.

Apple typically keeps its iPhone battery capacities under wraps, but the tipster claims that the iPhone 15 has a 3,349mAh battery unit and the iPhone 15 Plus has a 4,383mAh battery. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is said to be backed by a 4,422mAh battery. These are mostly in line with battery capacities revealed from previous teardown videos of the handsets.

iPhone 15 series can now be bought at significantly lowered prices in India. Retailer Vijay Sales has announced its Apple Days sale, where several Apple products are listed at discounted rates. The sale is valid from December 31, 2023, to January 7, 2024 in the country. Meanwhile, the 128GB option of the iPhone 15 Pro can be bought for as low as Rs. 1,22,900, including HDFC card offers. Including the same offers, the 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants can be purchased at Rs. 1,32,240, Rs. 1,48,900 and Rs. 1,59,990, respectively.

The iPhone 13 is available during the ongoing Apple Days sale starting at Rs. 50,820, which includes an instant discount of up to Rs. 1,000 on HDFC Bank cards. Customers will earn 0.75 percent loyalty points on all purchases of Apple products via the online site or offline stores during this sale, Vijay Sales confirmed.

iPhone 15 lineup hit stores across over 40 countries, including the US, the UK, India, Germany, Japan, and China last week. Now, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are set to go on sale in more than 20 additional countries starting today (September 29). iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus With an Aluminum Frame Survive Durability Test

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus were recently launched by Apple alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Since their launch, the phones have been put through several tests including durability tests that showcased that the iPhone 15 Pro Max with its titanium frame is susceptible to its rear glass being broken easily. Now a durability test shows that the lower end models of the iPhone 15 series with aluminium frames are not easily destructible.

In a video posted on the YouTube channel JerryRigEveything, both the base iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus are put through a series of tests to check their durability. The display of the phones, which come with Apple’s Ceramic Shield protection are seen to be almost scratch resistant with only minor lines visible upon multiple scratching attempts. The aluminium chassis including the side edges, base and upper arch of these iPhone 15 handsets, however, did not emerge unscathed and scratched pretty easily. Upon trying to bend the phones though, from both back and the front, the structural integrity of the models held up strong. The iPhone 15 Pro Max failed this test as the rear panel cracked during the bend test.

Powered by Apple’s in-house A16 Bionic SoCs, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED displays, respectively. They also have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

For optics, the phones are equipped with a 48-megapixel wide angle camera and a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens at the back. The handsets get a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera in the front. The base model claims to offer a battery life of up to 20 hours and the Plus model is said to offer up to 26 hours of battery life.

Apple Starts Selling Assembled in India iPhone 15 Models on Launch Day for First Time

iPhone 15 series including iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max hit the stores on Friday (September 22) in India and other countries. For the first time, the Cupertino-based company made the India-built iPhone 15 models available in the country and other parts of the world on the global sales debut day. Apple previously shipped made-in-India iPhone units later than the initial launch date. The new models could have been manufactured at Apple assembler Foxconn’s plant in Chennai. The latest iPhone lineup was introduced on September 12 during the “Wonderlust” event and they went on pre-order last Friday (September 15).

Apple started shipping the iPhone 15 series earlier today, and devices assembled in India are available to customers in the country on the first day of sale simultaneously with the China-made handsets. Multiple customers including celebrities like R Madhavan took to X to share a picture of their India-made iPhone 15 model. The units were said to be manufactured in Apple assembler Foxconn’s Chennai factory.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said this is a milestone for the country. “Indians now accessing the latest products without waiting. We expect the iPhone 15 to be exported from India to the world soon. Congratulations, Team Apple”, he said on X.

In previous years, Apple shipped iPhone models manufactured in India later than the initial launch date. In 2022, the iPhone 14 models went on sale within 10 days of the global launch. iPhone 15 Brings New Battery Settings Option to Limit Charging Beyond 80 Percent: Report

iPhone 15 series went official last week with significant upgrades in design as well as specifications. The lightning port that Apple has kept in its iPhone models since the iPhone 5 was replaced by a USB Type-C port this year. Besides this, the Cupertino-based company is reportedly using new battery settings for the latest lineup. With this feature, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max users will be able to limit the battery charge percentage to maximise battery lifespan. This setting could maximise battery health by lowering the maximum battery charge level to 80 percent rather than reaching 100 percent. Additionally, Apple is providing more details on battery health for the user.

The Verge’s Allison Johnson during a Q&A session states that all of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models running on iOS 17 feature a new option in the Battery Health & Charging menu that is designed to stop the handset from ever charging beyond 80 percent when enabled. This menu is said to include three options — Optimised Battery Charging, 80 percent limit, and none. It can be accessed by heading to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging .

The new 80 percent limit option will stop your iPhone 15 models from charging when it reaches 80 percent of full capacity. The new feature was previously discovered in iOS 17 beta code.

Additionally, Apple is allowing users to check their device’s battery cycle count for the first time. As pointed out by tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve), iPhone 15 users can obtain details such as the battery manufacture date, initial usage time, battery cycle count and more now by heading to Settings > General > About in their handset.

Charging a battery up to 80 percent is recommended to protect the battery from overheating and get prolonged battery health as the last 20 percent is said to take more energy and produce more heat. This practice is expected to preserve battery health over time. It is almost identical to the Optimised Charging setting Apple already offers on old iPhone models that limit charging of battery overnight. Samsung and OnePlus also offer similar features with their handsets.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Faces Production Challenges Amid ‘Robust Demand’ and Shipping Delays: Ming-Chi Kuo

iPhone 15 Pro Max — Apple’s top-of-the-line model launched at its ‘Wonderlust’ event last week — is seeing robust demand after preorders for the handset opened on September 15, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This year, the Pro Max model features a more advanced telephoto camera with improved optical zoom support. However, the analyst states that iPhone 15 Pro Max production challenges are “more pronounced” compared to other models, even as the deliveries for the top-of-the-line model have been delayed to November in some regions.

Kuo states in a Medium post that the demand for the new iPhone 15 Pro Max is “robust” and higher than the iPhone 14 Pro Max that was launched by the company last year. Unlike its larger sibling, the iPhone 15 Pro model demand is weaker than its predecessor and the analyst suggests that this is because more customers are interested in the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year.

Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro, the Cupertino company’s regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are seeing demand that is “roughly on par” with the handsets launched by Apple last year, according to Kuo. This year, Apple introduced some notable changes to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, including the company’s Dynamic Island and a 48-megapixel primary camera that arrived with the iPhone 14 Pro models last year.

While the demand for Apple’s iPhone models typically causes some delay in deliveries every year, the analyst points out that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is facing lengthy delays this year. In some regions, including the US, the top-of-the-line model is expected to be delivered to some customers in November.

Kuo claims that the iPhone 15 Pro Max — which entered mass production later than the company’s other smartphones — is facing “more pronounced” production challenges compared to other models. Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 series of smartphones at its ‘Wonderlust’ launch event on September 12, and preorders for all four models began three days later. The handsets will go on sale in India and in global markets on September 22.
