Apple iPhone 15 Price in India Drops During Flipkart Mega June Bonanza Sale: Check New Price, Specifications

Apple iPhone 15 price in India has dropped once again, as part of an ongoing sale event on Flipkart. Customers can purchase Appe’s latest iPhone model via the e-commerce platform at a deeply discounted rate during the Mega June Bonanza sale that is scheduled to conclude later this week. While this is not the lowest iPhone 15 price drop in India to date, the online retailer is also offering an exchange discount as well as an additional discount on bank cards that further lowers the cost of the iPhone 15 in India.

iPhone 15 price in India during Flipkart’s Mega June Bonanza sale

iPhone 15 price in India is now Rs. 67,999, as part of Flipkart’s Mega June Bonanza sale. The iPhone 15 discount has been applied to all five colourways — Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow — for the base model with 128GB of inbuilt storage. Apple launched the iPhone 15 in India priced at Rs. 79,990 in September 2023.

You can also exchange their existing smartphone and lower the iPhone 15 price in India by an additional Rs. 55,000. However, it’s worth noting that you would need to exchange a very valuable device in good condition in order to avail of the maximum exchange discount.

Similarly, you can also make a non-EMI transaction using eligible bank credit cards to avail of an additional discount worth Rs. 1,000 during the Mega June Bonanza sale on Flipkart.

It’s worth noting that the price of the iPhone 15 on Flipkart previously dropped to Rs. 65,999 in April, which makes this the second lowest price drop for the handset on the e-commerce platform. At the time, Flipkart also offered an additional Rs. 1,000 discount on Google Pay UPI transactions on the platform.

iPhone 15 specifications

Apple’s current-generation iPhone 15 runs on iOS 17, just like the company’s other three handsets in the iPhone 15 series. The handset runs on Apple’s A16 Bionic chip, which also powered the iPhone 14 Pro models from 2022. The iPhone 15 sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen and is the first non Pro model to be equipped with Apple’s Dynamic Island instead of a display notch.

There’s a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture for capturing photos and recording videos, along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, the iPhone 15 features a 12-megapixel selfie camera. The phone packs a 3,349mAh battery that can be charged using a 20W charger that must be purchased separately, as Apple no longer ships one with its smartphones.

iOS 18’s Control Centre Revamp Brings a Quicker Way to Shut Down Your iPhone

Apple introduced several new features for the iPhone with the iOS 18 showcase at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday. One of the key highlights was the Control Centre revamp that is getting a new controls gallery with many more options than before. Furthermore, users will also be able to swipe across pages to access additional controls and toggles. One feature Apple did not showcase but has made its way to iOS 18 is an easier way to turn off the iPhone.

New Power off shortcut on iPhone

The iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 brings the revamped Control Centre. One of the notable additions is a quick option to turn off the iPhone. Instead of having to press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons and then swipe the slider, the new power button can be toggled to turn off the device quickly.

New Power Button in iOS 18 Control Centre

As visible in the image above, this shortcut can be found in the Control Centre at the top-right corner of the screen. To access it, simply swipe down to bring up the Control Centre. Tap on the new power button and it will bring up the slider used to turn the iPhone off.

Gadgets 360 staff members were able to verify the availability and usability of this feature by installing the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update. This new shortcut is just one of the many features which Apple added to the iPhone with its new update but did not advertise during the keynote at the developer event.

Extended power reserve

Another feature which Apple did not advertise but is said to have been rolled out is an extended power reserve. With iOS 18, the iPhone still continues to display the time even when it runs out of juice for an extended period, it is claimed. The discovery was made by a user in the iOSBeta subreddit.

Furthermore, an “iPhone is Findable” banner also allegedly appears at the bottom of the screen, suggesting that the Find My feature might work for a longer duration with the extended power reserve.

iOS 18 Gets New Bezel Animation, ‘Add to Queue’ Option in Apple Music

With the introduction of iOS 18, Apple is rolling out several quality-of-life changes that aim to improve the functionality of the iPhone. Announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday, the next big update for Apple’s mobile operating system brings two new notable features – a new pop-out bezel animation that appears when the physical buttons are pressed, and new improvements in Apple Music. Both of these have been introduced with the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1.

New features on iOS 18

The first feature is aimed at improving the visual element of iOS 18. When a user adjusts the volume or uses the power button on the iPhone, a part of the bezel adjacent to the buttons appear to protrude onto the display. It also appears when using the Action button, but this is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple Music has also received a new option that lets users add tracks to their queue more conveniently. A new ‘Add Songs to Queue’ option now appears at the bottom of the queue, replacing the Play Last option.

Furthermore, the iPhone maker has finally added functionality through which users can change the tracks without discarding the entire queue. Another notable change lets users clear the entire queue at once.

All of the aforementioned features have been deployed with the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update and users with iPhone XR and newer models can access them by installing the update. Gadgets 360 staff members were able to verify their availability.

To access these features as well as others, users will need to sign up for the Apple Developer program. While it previously required a per-year fee of $99 (roughly Rs. 8,000), Apple made it free-for-all in June 2023.

However, it should be noted that developer beta updates are meant for testing purposes. While they grant users access to new features, the updates are often unstable and carry bugs and glitches, some of which may affect the overall functionality of the iPhone, including poor battery life, handset becoming unresponsive, and unusual behaviour of apps. Therefore, caution is advised while installing the developer beta updates.

Apple Brings Game Mode to the iPhone With iOS 18, Announces AAA Games in Development

Apple is bringing a big gaming-dedicated feature to the iPhone which was previously limited to Mac, the company announced on Monday. At the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024 held at Apple Park, the tech giant previewed iOS 18 – the next operating system for the iPhone. While the keynote had a focus on improvements to phone customisation and the introduction of Apple Intelligence features, the iPhone maker also announced that it will be rolling out Game Mode to the iPhone.

Game Mode on iPhone

According to Apple, Game Mode on iOS 18 promises to improve the gaming experience, delivering consistent frame rates. This can potentially prove useful during long gaming sessions. It is a dedicated gaming mode which minimises the background activity on the iPhone to make sure the CPU and GPU can deliver “high frame rates for hours of continuous gameplay”, Apple claims.

Notably, Game Mode was introduced on Mac during WWDC 2023 in June last year, and it is now coming to the iPhone. Apple says it also reduces audio latency with AirPods, while Bluetooth controllers from the likes of PlayStation and Xbox also benefit from reduced input latency, making them more responsive. According to Apple, “This means consistent performance without lag or slowdowns, no matter how long you play.”

On Mac, Game Mode works with existing as well as new games. However, it is yet unclear if it does the same on iPhone. Apple says this feature automatically turns on when a game is started, as opposed to manually toggling it every time.

Apple also showcased the addition of Personalised Spatial Audio in Game Mode with iOS 18 for an improved audio experience and demonstrated it while playing Need for Speed Mobile, although this feature is only said to work with AirPods Pro (2nd generation).

AAA games on iPhone

Alongside the dedicated gaming features, Apple also revealed a list of AAA titles coming to the iPhone in the near future. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard will be the first title arriving for iPhone, iPad, and Mac on July 2. Moreover, Resident Evil 2 is also confirmed to be in development for Apple devices.

While availability on iPhone is unclear, Apple also announced that games such as Sniper Elite 4, Dead Island 2, Control: Ultimate Edition, Frostpunk 2, Valheim, and Palword are also set to arrive on Mac. It is also partnering up with Ubisoft to bring its upcoming action RPG Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to the iPad.

Apple Brings RCS, Satellite Capabilities to the Messages App for iPhone With iOS 18

Apple unveiled iOS 18, the next generation of its operating system for iPhone, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday. Among many new features such as Home Screen customisation, Apple Intelligence, and Control Center improvements, the Cupertino-based tech giant also introduced two new features to the Messages app — support for RCS (Rich Communication Services) and new satellite capabilities. While the former was previously announced, satellite capabilities arrive as a way to let iPhone users stay connected with friends and families even in the absence of cellular connectivity.

Apple integrates RCS with Messages app

For years, Google and Samsung have urged Apple to implement the RCS standard in its messaging platform. RCS, which is backed by the GSM Association, is a messaging system considered to be the successor to SMS. Due to end-to-end encryption, it is more secure than SMS, offers support for high-resolution photos and videos, and shows chat indicators.

After not adopting the technology for a long time, the iPhone maker finally announced that it would integrate RCS into iPhone in November 2023. It has now made the announcement concrete by confirming iOS 18 will carry some RCS features.

However, Apple has not revealed what these features might be. In its press release, there is a single mention of the feature which states, “RCS (Rich Communication Services) messages bring richer media and delivery and read receipts for those who don’t use iMessage.” While this confirms read receipts and likely supports high-resolution media sharing, the rest of the features remain unconfirmed.

Messages App gets satellite capabilities with iOS 18

Another interesting feature being shipped with iOS 18 is satellite capabilities in the Messages app. It will allow users who do not have cellular reception to send and receive texts, emojis, and Tapbacks over iMessage and SMS. This feature will enable users who travel off-grid to still stay connected with their friends and family. This feature will be available on the iPhone 14 and later once iOS 18 update arrives.

Apart from these, the Messages app is also getting a new schedule messages feature that will let users send a text at any particular time. New animated message effects and formatting options have also been added with iOS 18.

Google Reportedly Testing Auto Dark Mode for Websites on iPhone via Search Labs

Google is testing an Auto Dark Mode for websites feature on its iPhone app, according to a report. As evident by the name, the feature automatically toggles dark mode on applicable websites, the report suggests. Similar to a browser, the Google app lets users browse the web. Additionally, it also has artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities via Gemini, the company’s proprietary conversational AI chatbot. This new feature is reportedly currently in testing and isn’t available widely to users.

Auto Dark Mode on iPhone

According to a 9to5Google report, Auto Dark Mode on iPhone has been made available via Google Search Labs – a program that enables users to try out experimental features that are not accessible to the public yet.

Rolling out this feature, Google reportedly said, “Stay in dark mode no matter what website you are on. Turn on dark mode on your device to activate this experience so all the websites you visit match your app’s dark theme.”

When enabled, this feature will be turned on for all the applicable websites, it was further mentioned. It is also reported that Auto Dark Mode will not be available on websites which have an existing dark mode. In the screenshots shared by 9to5Google, Auto Dark Mode introduced a new appearance to the website but didn’t appear to present a pure Black look. Instead, the background turned Dark Grey.

Since this feature is currently only available to early testers as a beta experiment, Google reportedly says, “Quality of the conversion to dark mode may vary. Experiment does not apply to websites with an existing dark theme.”

Minimised custom tabs on Chrome

In addition to experimenting with the Auto Dark Mode feature on the Google app, the tech giant also introduced a new feature called Minimised Custom Tabs on its Chrome browser for Android. Available with Chrome version 124, it turns tabs into small floating windows when minimised.

This feature appears in the form of a downward button on the top banner alongside the website name. Tapping the button turns the tab into a floating picture-in-picture (PiP) window.

Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Unlikely to Be Unveiled Before 2027: TrendForce

It seems to be an open secret that Apple is in the early stages of developing a foldable iPhone. The Cupertino tech giant is yet to confirm its existence, but it has been registering different patents for foldable technologies for some time now. A new report by TrendForce says Apple may not launch its own folding-screen phone until 2027. The crease of the foldable phone remains a major concern for Apple and that seems to be causing the delay. As Apple is waiting longer to release its first foldable, several other brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, and others have launched foldable phones heating the competition.

Apple iPhone Fold could arrive by 2027

Market research firm TrendForce, in its latest report, notes that Apple is “unlikely to release a foldable phone before 2027”, but its entry could significantly shift market dynamics. The iPhone maker is reportedly still evaluating component specifications and performance, with strict requirements for crease and reliability.

In March, a Korean outlet claimed that Apple pushed back the launch timeline for its foldable iPhone from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027 after considering the preparation for various items, including the supply of foldable displays.

Meanwhile, TrendForce expects foldable smartphone shipments to reach 17.8 million units in 2024, making up only 1.5 percent of the smartphone market. Samsung, which had over 80 percent of the market share in 2022 is now struggling to keep 50 percent market share after facing increased competition from various brands. Huawei made significant strides with its 4G Pocket S in 2023 and the brand could potentially increase market share to 30 percent with its first tri-fold phone release in Q3 this year.

The report notes that Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo struggled to grow their foldable phone sales, while Motorola made a strong entrance with its Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra.

Apple foldable phone: What we know so far

Apple is said to be working on prototypes of at least two clamshell-style foldable iPhone models and is said to be in discussion for supply orders with LG Display (LGD) and Samsung Display (SDC). It has applied for patents related to foldable displays. The first foldable phone from the brand is said to feature a 6-inch external display and an 8-inch main display.

Apple Could Introduce AI Notification Summary, Conversational Voice for Siri at WWDC 2024: Report

Apple is working on introducing an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered notification summary feature when it unveils iOS 18 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, as per a report. The Cupertino-based tech giant is likely to unveil several “practical” AI features when it hosts its annual developer-focused event on June 10. Another planned feature will reportedly make Siri more conversational as the AI might add natural and emotive speech to the virtual assistant. Apart from these, AI functionality could also make its way to Apple’s Safari, Photos, and Notes apps.

Apple to Upgrade Siri With AI Features

AppleInsider reports that the tech giant is planning to upgrade Siri in a major way by incorporating AI capabilities in it. Citing people familiar with the matter, the publication states that Apple has internally named its AI initiatives project Greymatter and it is working on introducing a feature called “Greymatter Catch Up”. It is essentially a notification summarisation feature, but the publication claims it will work via Siri.

Siri might also be able to handle complex commands better, the report claimed. It is said to be getting a new smart response framework and an on-device large language model (LLM) which will understand the context of a request and will adjust its replies. The report also expects the language to be more conversational with the inclusion of the LLM.

Another focus area for Apple is to integrate AI features into its existing apps to make the user experience smoother. For instance, a previous report claimed that the Safari browser might get a web page summarisation feature.

This could be similar to the features offered by Google’s Gemini and Microsoft’s Copilot. Additionally, a Web Eraser feature might also be introduced that can delete any element from a web page including banner ads, images, and text.

The Photos app could also get an AI tool dubbed ‘Clean Up’ which is said to offer ‘Photoshop-grade’ editing capabilities to users. The feature can reportedly remove any unwanted background objects from the image.

An AI-based real-time audio transcription feature could also be added to the Notes app. A report detailing this feature claimed that users will be able to read, edit, copy, and share these transcripts later. To easily catch up to long transcriptions or notes, a text summarisation feature is also being added to the Notes app.

Reportedly, these in-house AI features are being powered by Apple’s Ajax LLM, which the company is keeping under wraps for now.
