Moto G24 Power, Moto G34 Renders Surface Online; 50-Megapixel Camera Units, Hole-Punch Display Tipped

Moto G24 Power and Moto G34 could be inching towards their launch as some alleged renders of the smartphones have surfaced online offering a glimpse at their design and specifications. The leaked renders show hole-punch displays and 50-megapixel dual rear camera units on the purported Motorola smartphones. They also appear to have curved edges and a 3.5mm audio jack. Launch details of the Moto G24 Power and Moto G34 are still under wraps, however, they are expected to arrive as successors to the Moto G23 and Moto G32, respectively.

A report by MySmartPrice has shared the alleged renders and specifications of the Moto G24 Power and Moto G34. The renders show the Moto G24 Power in silver and dark blue shades, while the Moto G34 is shown in dark blue and light blue colour options. Both models are seen to have a hole-punch display design with curved edges and a glossy finish on the rear. The volume rockers and power buttons are seen on the left spine of the phones while the SIM card tray is seen on the right spine.

The leaked renders suggest a dual rear camera unit with a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor on both devices. The camera units comprising LED flash are seen arranged in the upper left corner of the handsets. Details about the secondary sensor are yet to be revealed. The Moto G24 Power appears to have a headphone jack on the top side. In the Moto G34, the top has a flat frame and the headphone jack is positioned at the bottom alongside a USB Type-C port and speaker grille.

Motorola’s batwing logo is placed at the rear of two devices. Lastly, they seem to have slim bezels on the side and a relatively thick bezel on the top and bottom lines.

The Moto G24 Power is expected to debut as a successor to the Moto G23 which was launched back in January for Rs. EUR 229.99 (roughly Rs. 20.500) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The Moto G34, on the other hand, might arrive as a follow-up to the Moto G32, which was launched in India in March with a price tag of Rs. 11,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model.

The Chinese smartphone brand and the luxury lifestyle brand will work together to bring cutting-edge innovation and premium design to smart devices. The first product that will be a part of this collaboration is confirmed to be launched in China in January next year. Through a Weibo post on Thursday, Honor has revealed its collaboration with Porsche Design. The brand has shared a poster on the Chinese micro-blogging site featuring logos of both brands along with the tagline “Born for Pioneers.”

Google Assistant’s Quick Phrases Comes to Pixel Buds Pro: Here’s How to Use It

After being made available on other Pixel devices such as smartphones, tablets and nest devices, Google has finally brought Google Assistant Quick Phrases feature to its Pixel Buds Pro. Launched more than a year ago, the Pixel Buds Pro was already quite smart thanks to several built-in Google features, like Translate and more. Quick Phrases, which is another Google Assistant feature, now makes it easier to use your phone without the need to say “Hey Google” before your voice command.

What are Quick Phrases?

Quick Phrases are an easier way to use voice commands. Users can simply say the command, instead of using the wake-up phrase (or hotword) like “Hey Google” before speaking out the command/task for Google Assistant. The feature has been available on Google’s Pixel devices since the Pixel 6 series and has only been made available on the Pixel Buds Pro (officially) today.

While the feature sounds exciting, it is mainly used to complete a task rather than starting it. On Pixel devices, users can simply say “accept” or “decline” to deal with an incoming call. Alarms can be snoozed as well by just saying the word “snooze”. A timer can be stopped by simply saying the word “stop”.

What’s new?

This may sound very convenient and to an extent, they truly are, but it’s still very limited in terms of functionality versus the regular “Hey Google” voice commands which have fewer limitations and are far more in number and versatility. For now, Pixel devices only support a handful of commands which include, answering, declining, and silencing calls, and the ability to snooze and stop alarms and timers. The new Pixel Buds Pro update lets you use the first three quick phrases to control calls without summoning the Google Assistant first.

How do I enable it?

Enabling Quick Phrases on your Pixel Buds Pro is quite easy. Open the Settings app and type out “Quick Phrases”. Once in the section, simply toggle ON the settings to turn on each quick phrase scenario. You can also check out which devices support which quick phrase scenario in the same section.

There are a couple of downsides to activating it. There’s a good chance that an unknown incoming call may be accepted by the phone if you happen to be conversing with someone and happen to use any of the quick phrases in a sentence. There’s also a chance that someone else’s voice (standing near you) may trigger the same. And lastly, if the Google assistant detects a word that sounds very similar to any of the above three quick phrases, then it’ll be triggered. Also users will need to select only one language in Google Assistant Settings and supported languages only include English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish for now.

‘Wait is Frustrating’: Indian Crypto Players Fear Losing Web3 Talent, Funding Amid Legal Delays

The next eighteen months could seem like a lifetime for Web3 firms, waiting to take their operations full scale in the most populated country of the world, India. Despite a crypto roadmap having been finalised by G20 this year, India is still at least a year-and-a-half away from deploying these laws. Officials from India’s finance ministry have recently disclosed in the Parliament that the country is assessing potential risks that cryptocurrencies could pose to its existing financial systems.

In conversation with Gadgets 360, Kumar Gaurav, the founder and CEO of Cashaa said that the wait for India to finally get its crypto laws is ‘undeniably frustrating’ for industry players. Cashaa is a banking platform that lets users manage the traditional real-world economy and cryptocurrency together with a single account.

“The most concerning outcome of a delayed implementation of a comprehensive regulatory framework for crypto is the potential flight of resources, funding, and skilled talent – key strengths for a developing nation like India,” Gaurav said while noting that this sentiment extends to venture capitalists who seek returns on their investments and await regulatory clarity before further funding in this sector.

Presently, a bunch of other countries are taking brisk steps to incorporate crypto assets in their economies. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore among regions from the UK, US, Asia, and Middle East are regulating the crypto sector in a way that makes their respective markets lucrative for crypto players to set up shops in.

Indian crypto community members like Gaurav are concerned that the delay in India getting its comprehensive crypto laws could result in required assets flowing to more established jurisdictions.

“This scenario could result in India relinquishing its current leading position in the blockchain and crypto space, necessitating a catch-up phase once the regulatory framework is eventually established,” the chief of Cashaa added.

Currently, the crypto sector is at the least, partially regulated in India. Firstly, all crypto incomes are taxed 30 percent, and one percent tax is deducted on each crypto transaction to maintain some kind of a trail for these otherwise largely anonymous transactions.

Secondly, as decided by Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) earlier this year, the governments of several countries including India need to mandate crypto firms to collect identificatory information on the senders, recipients, and beneficiaries of virtual assets.

In addition, India has also directed all firms operating in the crypto and Web3 sectors to register themselves with the country’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to conduct their businesses legally here.

Apart from these instructions, the implementation of G20’s crypto roadmap is awaited in the country. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB) released a joint synthesis paper this September, that makes the roadmap that the G20 nations will follow in-terms of finetuning the global crypto sector.

This document laid down the foundational work for the upcoming crypto laws to be supported on. The suggestions included supervision and oversight of global stablecoin arrangements (GSCs) along with support for responsible fintech innovation. The FSB also asked crypto-interested nations to leave a margin for domestic judiciary approaches.

Meanwhile, industry players have urged their fellow companies to adhere to the current directions issued by the government in order to gain sovereign’s trust on the crypto sector.

“We have to ensure that companies also abide by anti-money laundering regulations and have necessary KYC checks in place. As long as Web3 companies continue to abide by the current laws in place, there is no threat to businesses,” Rajagopal Menon, Vice President, WazirX told Gadgets 360, commenting on the matter.

The reason why India is seeing a delay in deploying its concrete crypto regulations was recently touched upon by Jayant Sinha, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance in India’s Parliament.

“Global standards are still evolving and 2024 is the year of elections around the world. Many important countries, whether it’s the US, the UK, India, are going in for elections. So, I’m not sure in 2024 the standards will develop. We also have to see what’s going to emerge from the (crypto) meltdown about whether some of these companies are going to survive,” Sinha said at a recent event.

“We are looking forward to regulations which are specific to India and must understand that it will be an ongoing process. India has one of the most lucrative markets for this industry with the right combination of talent, resources and learning opportunities that need to be agile that would help them evolve with the onset of regulations,” WazirX’s Menon noted.

Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus Update Delayed to Early 2024 With Promise of More Features

Spider-Man 2’s big post-launch update has been delayed to early 2024. In a tweet, developer Insomniac Games confirmed that the team needed more time to ensure a high-quality product, but will include a range of additional features. Originally, the patch was supposed to only include a New Game+ mode, allowing players to dive back into the game’s story in an overpowered state, carrying over all unlocked abilities and gear upgrades. But having collected feedback from players, a mission replay option will be added so that you can relive some of the most cinematic boss fights in gaming this year — alongside side missions to hunt down achievements.

“We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more,” the tweet reads. “We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.” Players will soon be able to change the time of day in the city to best suit their web-swinging experience and even swap the colours on their tendrils when using the symbiote powers, which are black by default. When using other costumes, however, the symbiote Peter Parker’s webbing retains the colour white, rather than matching the theme of the suit he’s wearing, so the update should allow players to mix and match it as they like. Insomniac Games has got a lot more planned in the upcoming update, details of which will be shared in time.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Review

Earlier this week, the studio fell victim to a cybersecurity attack — hacked by a ransomware group that is looking to auction the ‘exclusive’ data at a starting bid of $2 million or 50 bitcoin. Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) confirmed the original report, adding that the situation is being investigated and that no other divisions have been affected by the security breach. Rhysida is the hacking group claiming credit for the attack and as proof, published a bunch of Insomniac staff emails, some official documents of the employees, and what appears to be screenshots of the upcoming Wolverine game. A seven-day deadline has been self-imposed by the group, with the implication that the data will be released into the wild if they don’t receive an undisclosed payment on time. Video game companies are more frequently being targeted by such attacks, with the most notorious one being the Rockstar Games leak from last year, causing over 90 in-development GTA VI clips to leak online.

Both of Insomniac’s Marvel-centric games, Spider-Man and Wolverine, are set within the same universe — Earth-1048 — so there’s always a possibility of a cameo appearance from either lead character. Currently, there is no release window for the Wolverine game and the ending of Spider-Man 2 was clearly pointing towards a follow-up — whether that turns out to be a sequel or an expansion remains to be seen. Spider-Man 2 was also nominated in seven categories at The Game Awards 2023, including Game of the Year, but didn’t win a single trophy.

Spider-Man 2 is out now, only on the PS5.
