Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Charging Case Battery Specifications Surface on Certification Websites: Report

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 is expected to be unveiled soon, and the purported true wireless (TWS) earbuds are expected to succeed the Pixel Buds Pro, which were introduced during Google’s I/O event in May 2022. Although the company has not yet confirmed the launch of the Pixel Buds Pro 2, previous reports suggest that they are likely to arrive at the firm’s I/O event in May or at the Pixel Hardware event alongside the Pixel 9 series of smartphones. Details about the charging case of these anticipated TWS earphones have now surfaced online.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 charging case was spotted on the UL Demko website with the model number GH8TQ, according to a 91Mobiles report. The case is listed with a 650mAh Li-ion battery on the Danish certification website This suggests that it could offer a slightly larger capacity than the 620mAh battery packed into the original Pixel Buds Pro.

The publication also spotted the Pixel Buds Pro 2 on the SatefyKorea certification website with the same model number. The listing also shows that the contract manufacturing company for the TWS earphones’ charging cases is Chinese firm Chongqing VDL Electronics.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro were launched in India at Rs. 19,990 and are available in Charcoal, Coral, Fog, and Lemongrass colour options. They come with active noise cancellation (ANC) support and a dedicated transparency mode. The earphones also support multipoint connectivity which allows pairing with multiple devices at the same time.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro are claimed to offer a total battery life of up to 31 hours without ANC and up to 20 hours with ANC turned on. The charging case also supports USB Type-C for wired and Qi wireless charging. The case comes with an IPX2 rating for splash resistance, while individual earbuds carry IPX4 certifications.

Google Assistant’s Quick Phrases Comes to Pixel Buds Pro: Here’s How to Use It

After being made available on other Pixel devices such as smartphones, tablets and nest devices, Google has finally brought Google Assistant Quick Phrases feature to its Pixel Buds Pro. Launched more than a year ago, the Pixel Buds Pro was already quite smart thanks to several built-in Google features, like Translate and more. Quick Phrases, which is another Google Assistant feature, now makes it easier to use your phone without the need to say “Hey Google” before your voice command.

What are Quick Phrases?

Quick Phrases are an easier way to use voice commands. Users can simply say the command, instead of using the wake-up phrase (or hotword) like “Hey Google” before speaking out the command/task for Google Assistant. The feature has been available on Google’s Pixel devices since the Pixel 6 series and has only been made available on the Pixel Buds Pro (officially) today.

While the feature sounds exciting, it is mainly used to complete a task rather than starting it. On Pixel devices, users can simply say “accept” or “decline” to deal with an incoming call. Alarms can be snoozed as well by just saying the word “snooze”. A timer can be stopped by simply saying the word “stop”.

What’s new?

This may sound very convenient and to an extent, they truly are, but it’s still very limited in terms of functionality versus the regular “Hey Google” voice commands which have fewer limitations and are far more in number and versatility. For now, Pixel devices only support a handful of commands which include, answering, declining, and silencing calls, and the ability to snooze and stop alarms and timers. The new Pixel Buds Pro update lets you use the first three quick phrases to control calls without summoning the Google Assistant first.

How do I enable it?

Enabling Quick Phrases on your Pixel Buds Pro is quite easy. Open the Settings app and type out “Quick Phrases”. Once in the section, simply toggle ON the settings to turn on each quick phrase scenario. You can also check out which devices support which quick phrase scenario in the same section.

There are a couple of downsides to activating it. There’s a good chance that an unknown incoming call may be accepted by the phone if you happen to be conversing with someone and happen to use any of the quick phrases in a sentence. There’s also a chance that someone else’s voice (standing near you) may trigger the same. And lastly, if the Google assistant detects a word that sounds very similar to any of the above three quick phrases, then it’ll be triggered. Also users will need to select only one language in Google Assistant Settings and supported languages only include English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish for now.

Google Pixel January 2023 Updates Enables Spatial Audio Support, Head Tracking to Arrive Soon

Google has started rolling out the January 2023 update for Pixel handsets, which also includes the January 2023 Android security patch. The update is being rolled out in a phased manner over the coming weeks for Pixel devices running on Android 13. Users will receive a notification when the OTA update becomes available for eligible Pixel smartphones. This update adds Spatial Audio support to Pixel phones that enables them to offer surround sound with any supported accessories. There are also a few other general fixes included in this update.

Google announced on Wednesday that it has begun rolling out the January 2023 update for Pixel devices. This update brings Spatial Audio support to the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. This feature had previously been spotted in the Android 13 QPR1 beta update. This technology is designed to capture audio signals and apply directional filters to create an immersive soundscape. The company has revealed that it will soon roll out an update for the Pixel Buds Pro to enable Spatial Audio support with head tracking.

Spatial Audio is reportedly only supported by devices that are compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) audio. With this update, Google has fixed an issue that was “preventing certain Bluetooth Low Energy devices or accessories from pairing or reconnecting.” Another issue that was stopping audio from playing over certain headphones has also been resolved.

The January 2023 update also brings additional improvements to fingerprint recognition and response times on Pixel 6a and Pixel 7. Another error that was forcing the smartphone to go into landscape mode while being held in portrait mode has also been fixed.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have also received a couple more fixes with this update. Zoomed-in photos will no longer appear corrupted or distorted due to the included camera fix. In addition, an error that was causing the device to not wake up while being turned on has been resolved.

Google I/O 2022: Pixel Watch With Circular Domed Design Now Official, Pixel Buds Pro Debut Alongside

Google Pixel Watch debuted during the I/O 2022 consumer keynote on Wednesday as the company’s first smartwatch — quite a long time after being a part of rumour mill. The new offering comes in a circular domed design, unlike the Apple Watch that features a rectangular display, that carries rounded edges. The Pixel Watch also carries distinct colour options and a list of fitness tracking features. In addition to the Pixel Watch, Google unveiled the Pixel Buds Pro as its latest truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds — countering the likes of Apple’s AirPods Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.

Google Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro price

Google Pixel Watch price is yet to be revealed. However, Google said at the keynote that the smartwatch will be available in the US starting this fall.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro, on the other hand, are priced at $199 (roughly Rs. 15,400). The earbuds come in four distinct colours — Charcoal, Coral, Fog, and Lemongrass — and will go on pre-orders in the US starting July 21.

Details on the launch of the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro in India are yet to be revealed.

Google Pixel Watch specifications

The Google Pixel Watch runs the latest Wear OS and features the circular display with minimal bezels and a curved glass protection that brings the pebble-like domed design. It comes tactile crown — similar to Apple Watch’s Digital Crown — and has a stainless steel build. The Pixel Watch also comes with customisable, swappable wrist bands that can seamlessly attach. The watch, though, doesn’t seem to support any regular 22mm straps. It also sounds familiar if you have seen an Apple Watch that supports proprietary-style bands.

On the software side of things, Google said that the Pixel Watch runs an improved Wear OS UI with more fluid navigation and smart notifications. It makes sense for Google to deliver a distinct experience on its own device over other smartwatches, so you may notice a list of differences over other Wear OS models.

“It’s all designed to be tappable voice enabled and glanceable so you can be more present at home, at work or on the go,” said Rick Osterloh, SVP, Devices and Services at Google, during the keynote.

The Pixel Watch is also integrated with Google’s offerings including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Wallet to deliver an enhanced experience. Google has also made the Pixel Watch as a remote for compatible smart home devices using the Home app for Wear OS. This lets you adjust your thermostat or turn on or off lights directly from your wrist.

Google has additionally integrated Fitbit within the Pixel Watch to deliver “industry-leading health and fitness experiences” out-of-the-box. Google said that the watch provides continuous heart rate and sleep tracking. Users can also see their active zone minutes when working out and track their stats and progress against different fitness goals.

The Pixel Watch also works with the Find My Device app to help users locate their misplaced Pixel phone, earbuds, or any other supported devices on a map available on their wrist.

Google Pixel Buds Pro specifications

The Google Pixel Buds Pro come with active noise cancellation (ANC) that uses a new silent seal technology that is claimed to help compensate for audio leakage and maximise the amount of noise that has been cancelled. This makes the new earbuds a significant upgrade over the existing Pixel Buds and Pixel Buds A-Series as both don’t have ANC support. The Pixel Buds Pro also include a transparency mode that helps users hear ambient sound. Later this year, Google has also promised to update the Pixel Buds Pro with spatial audio support to take on Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Detailing ANC, Google said the earbuds carry beam forming microphones that use noise suppression algorithms trained with machine learning to suppress wind traffic and other background noise. The earbuds are also powered by a custom audio chip that is claimed to deliver power efficiency to make the hardware last for up to 11 hours of listening time or seven hours with ANC turned on.

Similar to existing Pixel Buds and other Pixel devices, the Pixel Buds Pro come with a hands-free Google Assistant experience. You can use the experience to translate in 40 languages or ask the Assistant to get walking directions, without requiring to physically use your phone.

Google has bundled the Pixel Buds Pro earbuds with a charging case that has USB Type-C for wired charging as well as Qi wireless charging. The buds also include support for multipoint connectivity to let users connect them with “compatible phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs” simultaneously and switch between audio streams while on-the-go. Users will also be able to find their Pixel Buds Pro using Find My Device in case they lose the earbud.

Connectivity-wise, the Pixel Buds Pro have Bluetooth v5.0. The earbuds can also be paired with any Bluetooth v4.0+ device, including Android and iOS devices as well as tablets and laptops.

The bundled case has IPX2 splash resistant design, while the earbuds have IPX4 sweat resistance. The earbuds also include capacitive touch sensors for tap and swipe gesture support. The charging case support sFast Charge to deliver up to one hour of listening time with five minutes of charging. It also brings a total listening time of up to 31 hours (without ANC).
