Samsung Galaxy S24+ With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Faster Than Galaxy S23 Ultra, Suggests Vulkan Test

Samsung equipped the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy this year, ditching the company’s in-house Exynos chipsets. Some models in next year’s Galaxy S24 family are expected to pack Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. As we wait for the official announcement, Geekbench’s Vulkan test comparison shows that the Adreno 750 GPU of the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will be extensively faster than the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

In the alleged Geekbench 6 Vulkan test said to belong to the Galaxy S24+, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has scored a remarkable 17,031 points. This score is 81.6 percent higher than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The ongoing Galaxy S23 Ultra’s custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy has scored 9,379 points on the same platform.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC features an Adreno 740 GPU, while the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is touted to feature the Adreno 750 GPU. As the Geekbench Vulkan benchmark primarily focuses on graphics performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC could offer a substantial upgrade in that area over its predecessors.

Geekbench 6’s Vulkan test performance will not be reflected in every test and real-life performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The purported Galaxy S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is also expected to outperform its predecessor by a higher margin, as its larger vapour chamber could contribute to higher scores.

Samsung is believed to announce the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones in January next year. It could come with Titanium frames instead of aluminium. Early rumours suggested that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will feature an Exynos chip in some regions like Canada and the US, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a Snapdragon chip across all markets. All handsets in the Galaxy S23 lineup launched worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Previous reports have already suggested that the smartphone could sport a 6.8-inch display. The latest renders add that the model is expected to get narrowest bezels on any smartphone yet due to significant reduction in bezel size. It is said to feature WQHD+ resolution display. Moreover. the Galaxy S24 Ultra could incorporate an ultra-wideband antenna on the right edge.

The dimensions of the upcoming smartphone are reported to be around 162.3 x 79 x 8.7mm, while it may weigh approximately 23g. Similar to Apple‘s iPhone 15 series, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also said to get titanium build, making the smartphone lighter in weight. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Could Ditch 10x Telephoto Camera to Ship With a 5x Zoom Level Sensor

Samsung Galaxy S24 series comprising vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models are expected to go official early next year. Samsung hasn’t revealed any details regarding the Galaxy S23 series successors, however, the leaks have been in plenty. Most recently, a tipster claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will ditch the 10x zoom lens and replace it with a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. This would be a potential downgrade from the zoom capabilities compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Known tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) on X claims that Samsung will revamp the telephoto camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As per the post, the upcoming flagship handset will feature a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with 1/2.52-inch size, 0.7μm pixels and 5x optical zoom. The device is also said to include a 10-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zooming capability.

The tipster states that this would give the Galaxy S24 Ultra a weaker telephoto camera performance than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The latter has two 50-megapixel sensors with 1/2.52-inch size 0.7μm pixel for telephoto and periscope lenses with 3x and 5x optical zoom.

If this rumour turns out to be true, Galaxy S24 Ultra’s zoom capabilities will be similar to the newly released iPhone 15 Pro Max. This would be a possible downgrade from the camera features available on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Galaxy S23 Ultra packs a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with support for 10x optical zooming.

Samsung is anticipated to release next-generation non-foldable Galaxy S series flagships in early 2024. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in most markets, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are expected to be launched with the company’s in-house Exynos 2400 SoC in select markets. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to come in 12GB RAM + 256GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. It might include a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX primary camera and is expected to get titanium frames as well.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Tipped to Get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Titanium Frame, More

Samsung Galaxy S24 series might arrive early next year at a Galaxy Unpacked event and as always, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to debut as a productivity-focused handset. We haven’t heard much about the release date of the Galaxy S24 flagships yet, but ahead of it, a tipster has suggested the key specification of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The upcoming smartphone is tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and could pack a quad rear camera setup led by a 200-megapixel primary camera. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to pack a 120Hz refresh rate display and titanium frames.

Tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) posted the alleged key specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra on X (formerly Twitter). As per the tipster, the phone will run on Android 14 based on One UI 6 and feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) display with 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to run on Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC would come as an upgrade to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC that powers the ongoing Galaxy S23 series.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to come with a quad rear camera setup, led by a 200-megapixel primary camera. The rear camera unit is also expected to include a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter, a third 12-megapixel sensor, and another 10-megapixel sensor. The 50-megapixel sensor would be a significant upgrade over Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. For selfies and video chats, there might be a 12-megapixel camera at the front. Like the predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to house a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging.

Further, Samsung is said to use titanium frames in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The previous models in the Galaxy S series, including the Galaxy S23 lineup, feature an aluminium chassis.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to go official in January or February of next year. This time, the Ultra model is said to come in 12GB RAM + 256GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. We are still several months away from the expected launch of Galaxy S24 Ultra, so readers can expect more interesting details about the handset to surface online in the coming days.

To recall, Samsung’s Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra were launched during the Galaxy Unpacked event in February this year. The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s price starts at Rs. 1,34,999 in India.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series of smartphones was launched earlier this week and the South Korean firm’s high-end handsets have seen a few upgrades across all three models. Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to go official in the first quarter of 2024. The flagship lineup, that is said to include the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, has been in the rumour mill for quite some time now. Most recently, more details about the handsets have surfaced online. They are said to come with a new chip, improved RAM, and upgraded displays over the current models. The Galaxy S24 family could pack OLED displays made using the M13 material. The Ultra model is expected to pack 16GB of RAM as well.

As per a report by the Korean publication Chosun, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones will feature new OLED displays made using the M13 material. These panels will reportedly offer improved performance over the previous M12 OLED panels used in the Galaxy S23 lineup. It could be lighter and will be more power efficient than older models.

Samsung is said to have added M12 OLED displays on its new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldables. Last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max also have the same panels, says the report. This year’s iPhone 15 series will also reportedly feature the M12 OLED panels, but this would change next year. Apple, Samsung’s primary rival in the market, is expected to provide the M13 OLED panel for the iPhone 16 series.

The report further claims that Samsung’s in-house Exynos processors will make a return to Galaxy S series smartphones next year. The Galaxy S24 lineup could run on Exynos 2400 chip in select markets and they might get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in some other countries. In 2022, Samsung equipped the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC on Galaxy S22 handsets in select markets. In other regions, the handsets debuted with Exynos 2200 SoC on board. This year, the South Korean smartphone brand fitted a customised version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC on the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 models will reportedly also come with increased memory capacity over the previous models. The regular Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are said to pack 12GB of RAM, compared to 8GB on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ models. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in contrast, could pack up to 16GB of RAM, up from the 12GB RAM on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The price of the Galaxy S23 starts at Rs. 74,999 in India, while the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra have initial price tags of Rs. 94,999 and Rs. 1,34,999, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Live Image Leaked; Tipped to Get Slower Wireless Charging Capacity

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is confirmed to launch soon. The phone has previously been listed on Geekbench with two SoC variants. It is expected to succeed the Galaxy S21 FE model. Recently, a live image of the phone was leaked, and it was also spotted on a wireless charging database, suggesting that it will come with a slower charging capacity than the other Galaxy S23 models. The upcoming Fan Edition model of the phone is expected to be the part of the Galaxy S23 series, which also includes the base Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The Galaxy S23 FE was spotted on Wireless Power Consortium, appearing to support a 4.4W wireless charging. The website does not indicate the wattage of power charging that the USB Type-C port is likely to allow. To compare, the Galaxy S23 Ultra supports 45W wired and 15W wireless fast charging.

A Dutch website, Samsung Club, on the other hand, shared leaked live images of the purported Galaxy S23 FE model. The image shared showed that the phone is likely to feature a 2.5D display. The back panel of the phone is expected to be equally flat and is likely to place the triple rear camera unit in the top left corner in vertically placed three circular cutouts.

Justin Hume, Samsung South Africa Vice-President of Mobile, said recently at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul that the announcement of a Galaxy S23 FE model is imminent. It could launch with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC or a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC in the US and Canadian markets, while other regions may get the phone with an in-house Exynos 2200 chipset.

Out-of-the-box, the phone is expected to boot Android 13-based One UI. The Exynos variant is said to be paired with an Xclipse 920 AMD GPU. The phone is expected to launch with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 inbuilt storage.

For optics, the Galaxy S23 FE is likely to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens at the back and a 12-megapixel sensor in the front placed in a centre-aligned hole-punch slot at the top of a possibly 6.4-inch screen. It is expected to be backed by a 4,500mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is expected to launch soon. The South Korean tech giant held its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year where they unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Reportedly, a company executive confirmed the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE model, the Fan Edition handset of the Galaxy S23, that was released at the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this year in February.

An Android Authority report states that a top Samsung executive confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will launch soon. Justin Hume, Samsung South Africa Vice-President of Mobile said that there currently is “an FE-sized gap between the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy S23″ but an announcement to bridge that will be made “imminently.” The Fan Edition model is expected to include the most popular features of the Galaxy S23 series, which includes the base Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

It is likely that the phone may launch with two chip variants in different regions.

The phone has been tipped to come with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 inbuilt storage, while the Exynos SoC has been said to be paired with an Xclipse 920 AMD GPU. Reportedly, the Galaxy S23 FE will run Android 13-based One UI on top.

A 6.4-inch flat display is likely to feature a 12-megapixel front camera sensor in a centre-aligned hole-punch slot at the top. Now, the Suwon headquartered smartphone brand is reportedly gearing up to release its One UI 6.0 beta for the Galaxy S23 series in the third week of July. The latest version of One UI is anticipated to reach other compatible Samsung smartphones and tablets “soon thereafter.” The One UI 6.0 update is said to be based on Android 14. The Android 14 Beta 3, the latest testing version of Google’s operating system, was expanded to more users this month.

As reported by SamMobile, Samsung is planning to release the first beta build of its custom skin —One UI 6.0 —based on Android 14 for the Galaxy S23 series in the third week of July. The One UI 6.0 beta would be rolled out to other eligible devices “soon thereafter.” If past updates by Samsung are any indication, the public release of the latest One UI skin can be expected before the end of this year.

The Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ulta are currently running One UI 5.1 based on Android 13. Besides the latest iteration of the Galaxy S series, last year’s Galaxy S22 flagships and Galaxy S21 series as well as the Galaxy S21 FE handsets could be eligible to receive the One UI 6.0 update. Meanwhile, the older Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10 Lite, and a few other phones will not get the next major OS update and will only be eligible for security updates.

Google previewed the Android 14 update at Google I/O last month and it has been available to public beta testers for a while now. Android 14 Beta 3 for Pixel phones is now available.
