The report added that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are expected to launch with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX803 primary rear sensor with an aperture of f/1.78, a 12.7-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens and an aperture of f/2.8, and a 13.4-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2. The high-end iPhone Pro Max is expected to come with a periscopic telephoto lens.

A recent report suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro variants are likely to cost more than the preceding models over its rumoured upgraded hardware, which is tipped to include a new titanium chassis over stainless steel ones and a periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The new chassis is expected to bring down the weight of the iPhone models.

This year, users in India could get the iPhone 15 on the same day as the global release. A report hinted that the iPhone 15 models manufactured under the Make in India campaign are likely to launch alongside the global launch of the lineup with little or no delay at all. iPhone 15 series is expected to be launched on September 12 at an event called ‘Wonderlust’ that will take place at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Starting at 10 AM local time, the event will also be live-streamed on apple.com and the Apple TV app. The iPhone 15 lineup is expected to consist of four models – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Ahead of the launch, a report now suggests that the iPhone 15 models will go on sale in India on the same day or just a few days after the global availability of the phones.

To promote electronics production in India, the government has started providing a number of incentives to mobile, laptop, and semiconductor manufacturers. This not only contributes to the gross domestic production of the country, but also helps in the creation of multiple jobs within the production and distribution sector.

An Economic Times report suggests that the iPhone 15 models that are to be manufactured under the Make in India scheme, may be available in the market around the same time as the global release of the products. The units are said to be manufactured in Apple assembler Foxconn’s Chennai factory. 

The report noted that last year with the launch of iPhone 14, the made-in-India units went on sale within 10 days of the global launch. This year the company expects an even lesser lag, if any and Apple will have the Chennai-based Foxconn manufacturing unit first serve the local Indian market and then be considered for export.

Notably, the government recently imposed restrictions on the import of several electronic items like laptops, tablets, and personal computers. The restrictions were to be effective immediately starting in the first week of August, but have now been pushed back by three months and clearance of import for certain electronic items will be required from November 1.

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Purported Colour Options Visualised in Renders Ahead of Debut: Details

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro colour options have been visualised in renders ahead of their expected debut next month as the successors to last year’s iPhone 14 series of smartphones. According to the publication, the renders were generated based on “detailed colour codes” provided by a source. The renders show the rear panel of the smartphone with light pastel colours. The camera module is located at the top left corner, with a familiar diagonal layout for the dual camera setup.

Meanwhile, the renders created for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max show the handsets in Blue, Silver, Space Black, and Titan Gray. All four colour options show the upcoming handsets sport a triple rear camera setup that looks quite similar to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

While these leaked renders do not include these details, the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup is tipped to feature USB Type-C ports unlike previously models that support Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector. Reports have hinted at the inclusion of Thunderbolt/ USB 4 support and faster charging speeds — up to 35W on the iPhone 15 series.

Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are said to use an Action button instead of the company’s iconic mute switch. This button is said to be programmable and recent reports and leaked case images suggest that it can be customised to perform certain functions on the smartphone in addition to toggling silent/ring modes. iPhone 15 Pro to Feature Titanium Edges, Apple’s New 3nm Chip, and Repair-Friendly Internals: Mark Gurman

In the latest edition of his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman states that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will drop its easily identifiable stainless steel edges, replacing it with a sturdier material — titanium. This suggests the company’s next Pro models will be more durable than their predecessors. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature reworked internals just like last year’s iPhone 14, to make it easier to repair, he adds.

On the inside, the iPhone 15 Pro will be powered by a new 3nm chip that will bring performance improvements over last year’s Pro models, according to Gurman, who says the new processor is “noticeably snappier”. However, customers who pick up the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will reportedly get the 4nm A16 Bionic chip found on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

This year, Apple will reduce the size of the bezels around its iPhone 15 Pro series of smartphones to 1.5mm, down from 2.2mm on the 14 Pro models, using a process called “low-injection pressure over-moulding”, according to Gurman. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will drop the notch in favour of the Dynamic Island that featured on last year’s Pro models.

Previous reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature an upgraded 48-megapixel primary camera instead of the 12-megapixel one on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and Gurman states that the largest model — the iPhone 15 Pro Max — will offer improved optical zoom. Apple’s next-generation iPhone 15 Pro Max is tipped to feature a periscope camera, a hardware feature that is present on high-end Android smartphones.

Gurman also reiterates his previous claim that the iPhone 15 series will drop the now-outdated — and slower — Lightning connector, in favour of a USB Type-C port. Apple is expected to bring this hardware change in order to comply with EU rules that go into effect in December 2024.

According to a report by MacRumors in collaboration with Tipster Unknownz21 (@URedditor), the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will reportedly come in a unique dark blue colour which appears to be in a grayish tone. In his tweet, the tipster shared that the rumoured Blue colour of the iPhone 15 Pro is yet to be officially confirmed, however, this could be just a test configuration. The leaked colour is said to be used as a prototype to test the durability of the PVD coating on the new titanium material.

According to the leak, the new Blue shade is similar to the one we already have seen for iPhone 12 Pro models. Additionally, the other colour options of the phone could include Silver, Space Gray/Space Black, and Titanium Gray shade. Furthermore, the leaked renders also show the smartphone with a brushed finish hinting at the new titanium material.

Apart from these, the iPhone 15 Pro is likely to retain the iPhone 14 Pro design. It is shown to sport a two-button design for the volume controllers while on the back, there could be an identical camera module housing a triple rear camera sensor and LED Flash.

iPhone 15 Models Will Support Faster 15W Qi2 Wireless Charging Without MagSafe: Report

Apple is expected to unveil iPhone 15 series with the latest innovations and design updates in September this year. We are still months away from the anticipated launch of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, but rumours and leaks about the handsets pop up on the Web almost daily. As per a latest report, the upcoming lineup will support the new Qi2 wireless charging standard based on Apple’s MagSafe technology. The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) unveiled Qi2 as the next-generation global wireless charging standard during CES 2023.

Currently, the latest iPhone models support 7.5W and 15W wireless charging. With MagSafe-certified chargers, Apple provides support for faster wireless charging of up to 15W and non-MagSafe wireless chargers offer up to 7.5W. According to a report by ChargerLAB, the upcoming iPhone 15 will support maximum of 15W wireless fast charging with the new Qi2 charging standard based on Apple’s MagSafe technology. This means that users will not have to use the MagSafe charger to attain 15W fast wireless charging speeds. 

The wholesale price of Apple’s MagSafe module is about $16 (roughly Rs. 1,300) and this has led to higher retail prices. The new Qi2 wireless charging module is said to cost less than one-third of the MagSafe module and the manufacturers are not required to be certified under Apple’s ‘MFi’ (Made for iPhone) programme. This would reportedly bring cheaper and faster wireless charging accessories to the market.

The Qi2 is also said to be compatible with all iPhone models with support for wireless charging. However, Apple is yet to confirm the speed of this charging standard.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to go official in September. Apple will ditch the traditional Lightning port and add a USB Type-C port to this year’s iPhone lineup to comply with a European Union law. iPhone 16 Pro to Get Bigger Displays, Periscope Lens: Ming-Chi Kuo

iPhone 16 Pro will most likely launch in late 2024. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 series later this year before the iPhone 16 lineup sees the light of day. Both series, however, are expected to include four models. It has previously been reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max model could also launch with the iPhone 15 Ultra moniker. This upcoming series has also been said to feature a camera upgrade never seen in Apple devices before – a periscope lens. Android competitors like Samsung, Google and Oppo use the periscopic lens in some of their high-end phones. A new report now suggests that the periscopic lens will also come with the iPhone 16 Pro model.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to sport a ‘slightly larger’ display than the 6.1-inch panels of the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to launch with an unchanged display size. 

It was previously reported several times that the iPhone 15 Pro Max could feature periscopic lenses to increase the phone’s zooming capacity to five or six times and do so with much clarity. Kuo, in his latest report, says that the iPhone 16 series will see the inclusion of this upgraded camera feature also in the lower Pro model.

The periscopic lenses will allow the phones to capture high-quality, more zoomed-in images, further than the usual 2 times zoom most cameras support, without any grains or distortions. The periscope lens, much like its name, uses a prism to reflect light to multiple internal lenses at 90 degrees onto the camera sensor. This makes the lens longer than a telephoto lens, ending up delivering better optical zoom.

As per the new report, the bigger display tip adds up with the periscope lens tip, allowing for the Cupertino-based tech giant to use enough space to include the lens in the iPhone 16 Pro model.

Earlier reports have also suggested that the Pro models of the iPhone 16 series will feature considerably larger display panels than the iPhone 14 Pro models. As per DSCC analyst Ross Young, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are expected to have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display panels, respectively. For comparison, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display respectively.

The new sensor would allow users to capture high-resolution ProRAW photos.

As per a report by MacRumors citing analyst Jeff Pu, the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have the same 48-megapixel rear camera as the iPhone 14 Pro models. This camera will reportedly use a new three-stacked sensor that can capture more light with improved image quality. This would allow users to take photos in Apple ProRAW.

The analyst suggests that Apple may face production delays for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus this year, caused by yield issues for the stacked 48-megapixel camera sensor.
