iPhone 15 Pro Max Ranks Second on DxOMark’s Camera test

iPhone 15 Pro Max, the top-of-the-line smartphone in the iPhone 15 lineup, has ranked second in DxOMark’s camera test. The phone launched alongside the base iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro at the Apple Wonderlust event on September 12. DxOMark states that the new zoom features of the flagship iPhone 15 model tended to be effective in general, but did not have consistency “across all ranges.” It added that the handset failed to mitigate “unwanted artefacts, including flare, ghosting, and aliasing” as well as disturbances in low-light photographs.

The preceding iPhone 14 Pro Max secured the ninth position on the scale. The newly launched handset features a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel 3x telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel periscope camera with up to 5x optical zoom performance.

A MySmartPrice report states that the details of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max batteries have been listed on a Chinese regulatory database. The publication did not reveal the name of the database, but includes details of both the capacity and wattage of all four models in the iPhone 15 series.

According to the report, the iPhone 15 is equipped with a 3,349mAh battery with a wattage of 12.981Wh. The regular iPhone 14 that was launched last year featured a 3,279mAh battery. The iPhone 15 Plus is equipped with a 4,383mAh battery with a wattage of 16.950Wh, slightly higher than the iPhone 14 Plus, which had a battery capacity of 4,235mAh.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro reportedly packs a 3,274mAh battery with a wattage of 12.70Wh, slightly higher than the iPhone 14 Pro, which has a 3,200mAh unit. On the other hand, the top-of-the-line iPhone 15 Pro Max features a 4,422mAh battery with a wattage of 17.109Wh — this is slightly higher than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was equipped with a 4,323mAh battery.

Apple does not reveal the battery capacities of its smartphones, unlike other smartphone OEMs. Instead, it reveals the typical battery life offered by the smartphone. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,39,900 for the base 128GB storage model, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,59,900 with 256GB of storage. You can buy both phones with up to 1TB of storage in Black Titanium, Blue Titanium, Natural Titanium, and White Titanium colourways.

It is also the first time that the company has upgraded the amount of RAM on its smartphones since the iPhone 13 Pro, which was the firm’s first handset with 6GB of RAM. The additional RAM on the iPhone 15 Pro models is expected to bring an increase in performance alongside the powerful new 3nm A17 Pro chip on the handsets. We do not know whether the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with a different type of RAM compared to the regular iPhone 15 models, but these details should also be revealed in teardown videos in the coming days.
