Fallout Games Surge as Prime Video TV Series Helps Drive Close to 5 Million Players in a Single Day

Fallout games have seen renewed interest since the release of the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime Video earlier this month. Just as the show has received acclaim and attracted new viewers to the world of Fallout, new and returning players have been flocking to the role-playing games from Bethesda. Now, the studio has confirmed that Fallout titles have received almost five million players in a single day, including one million in Fallout 76 alone.

The official Fallout X account posted the milestone early Wednesday, thanking one million players who tried out Fallout 76 in a single day. “Thank you to the over one million of you who adventured with us in #Fallout76 in a single day…,” the post read. Additionally, close to five million players have been registered across all Fallout games in a single day, Bethesda said in a follow-up post.

Fallout 76 also broke its all-time peak concurrent player count on Steam recently. With the success of the Fallout TV series, players have flocked to the game to experience its post-apocalyptic wasteland first-hand. Fallout 76 is currently the 23rd most played game on Steam, with 31,547 active players at the time of writing, according to SteamDB. The game has gone past its previous all-time peak this week, registering a new peak of 73,368 concurrent players.

Fallout 4 is faring even better. The 2015 RPG is currently the ninth most played game on Valve’s service, beating popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Destiny 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3. At the time of writing, Fallout 4 has 62,738 active players, with a 24-hour peak concurrent player count of 120,870.

These numbers only reflect Fallout players on PC, with PlayStation and Xbox platforms also likely experiencing a surge in player numbers. PS5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles are set to receive more Fallout 4 players soon, too. Earlier this month, Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 would get a free next-gen update on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on April 25.

Starting tomorrow, players on those consoles will get native game applications, with new features like Performance mode and Quality mode settings, stability improvements and bug fixes. The next-gen update for Fallout 4 will support higher resolutions and up to 60fps performance. Some new Fallout 4 features and improvements are also arriving on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Last week, Fallout 4 also became Europe’s best-selling game following the launch of the TV series. According to a report from GamesIndustry.biz, sales of the RPG jumped 7,500 percent week-on-week across the continent.

It’s worth noting that both Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are available to play for free to PS Plus subscribers on PlayStation and the entire Fallout series is available at no additional cost to Game Pass members on Xbox and PC.

Square Enix’s Foamstars to Arrive as PS Plus Monthly Free Title on February 6, Will Reportedly Include AI Art

Foamstars, Square Enix’s Splatoon-like 4v4 online party shooter announced last year, is coming next month. The PlayStation exclusive will release February 6 as a day-one launch title on PS Plus, Sony and Square Enix confirmed Tuesday. The game will be available to download for free on PS5 and PS4 as part of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for next month, starting February 6 through March 4. Foamstars was announced at a PlayStation Showcase in May last year, showing off soapy shooting and colourful characters, both heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Splatoon games. A PS Plus release will likely attract more players to the multiplayer title in its early days.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to redeem, download and play Foamstars at no extra cost. As with all free PS Plus monthly games, the Square Enix shooter, once redeemed, can be accessed beyond February as long as players hold on to their PS Plus membership, the publisher confirmed in its blog announcing the release date. After its PS Plus run, Foamstars will be available to buy on the PlayStation Store for $29.99 (roughly Rs. 2,494), starting March 5. Bear in mind, the multiplayer-only title would still require a PS Plus subscription for online play.

Ahead of Foamstars’ release, Square Enix also confirmed that the party shooter will include some AI-generated art. Foamstars producer Kosuke Okatani told VGC recently that the developers had used Midjourney, a popular generative AI-based image generation tool, to create some art for in-game icons. “AI was used in the creation of the in-game album covers for the music featured in the FOAMSTARS’ soundtrack. As developers, we’re always looking at new technologies to see how they can assist with game development,” Square Enix later clarified to the publication.

Okatani said that major bulk of the game, including its core gameplay elements, was hand-crafted by the developers, adding that AI-generated content in the game amounted for “0.01 percent or even less.” This confirmation follows a company-wide New Year’s letter from Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu, claiming that AI had the potential to reshape video games and the ways they are created. “We also intend to be aggressive in applying AI and other cutting-edge technologies to both our content development and our publishing functions,” the letter went on to say.

Foamstars will launch with three PvP modes — Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival (both previously released in the Foamstar Open Beta Party), and the newly announced Rubber Duck Party. Smash the Star will require teams to foam up and take down the opposing team and get to their Star Player. Once seven players from a team have been defeated, the highest performer on that team will receive gameplay buffs and will be named the Star Player. Taking down the other team’s Star Player will result in an instant win.

Happy Bath Survival mode splits up the two teams, keeping half inside the play arena and half outside it. Those inside engage in head-on battles, while outside team members provide defensive support. The new Rubber Duck Party mode will require players to take possession of a rubber duck at the centre of the stage. Climbing aboard the duck will make it advance towards the opponent’s goal. The team that crosses the line first wins. Each of these 4v4 modes include three maps, which will be randomized during matchmaking.

Additionally, Foamstars will also include a single-player PvE mode called Missions, which will include both solo and four-player co-op experiences. The Missions mode will dole out more information on Foamstars characters, allow players to experiment with their abilities, and take on waves of enemies with friends.

Sqaure Enix confirmed that Foamstars will receive free themed seasonal updates over the span of one year. These would include cosmetics, playable characters, maps, and additional game modes. Additionally, each new season will include an optional Premium Season Pass priced at $5.99 (roughly Rs. 498).

Foamstars will arrive as a PS Plus launch title on February 6 across PS4 and PS5.

PlayStation Plus December Free Games Include Lego 2K Drive, Powerwash Simulator and Sable

December is at the door, which means so are the free PlayStation Plus monthly games. The PS Plus free games for the final month of the year have been announced. Starting Tuesday, December 5, PS Plus member will get access to open-world Lego driving adventure Lego 2K Drive, clean ‘em up sim Powerwash Simulator and indie exploration title Sable. All three titles will be available to PS Plus subscribers across Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/ Premium plans. The free games can be added to PS4 and PS5 game libraries until Monday, January 1. You’d of course have to keep your PS Plus subscription to continue playing the titles.

PlayStation revealed its December lineup of free games on its blog Wednesday. It also sent out a reminder to PS Plus members to add the free titles from November to their game libraries. This month’s PS Plus offerings, announced November 1, include Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Dragon Ball: The Breakers and Aliens Fireteam Elite — players have until December 4 to add these games to their library.

Lego 2K Drive | PS4, PS5

Released earlier this year in May, Lego 2K Drive is a Lego-based racing game set in the BrickLandia open world. As a Lego game, everything in it is made of, well, Legos. And as common in Lego games, all in-game structures are destructible. The map features distinct explorable sections, each offering plenty of races. The game features an expansive story mode, in addition to a host of mini-games and challenges. Obviously, all cars are customisable and new cars can be built from the 1,000 unique Lego pieces available in the game.

Just like Ubisoft’s The Crew, race vehicles transform depending upon the terrain — your car can quickly change into a boat as the track transitions into a water body. Lego 2K Drive is meant to be played with friends and offers both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, two-player split-screen, and six-player online play.

Powerwash Simulator | PS4, PS5

First released on PC and Xbox consoles last year, developer FuturLab’s cleaning sim Powerwash Simulator made its way to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation early this year. Now, the popular clean ‘em up is heading to PS Plus. Powerwash Simulator essentially plays out as a first-person shooter, but your trusted power washer and its array of nozzles are your only arms and dirt is your only enemy.

The game lets you take control of a power washing business as you go around and clean people’s houses, yards, and mansions. The jobs escalate in trickiness, and you could soon find yourself cleaning an entire park. Powerwash Simulator rewards patience and watching the grime wash away over time is where the magic of the sim lies. Over time, you also get to upgrade your gear and buy fancy cleaning equipment — the perfect holiday season gift for clean freaks. Exciting, isn’t it?

Sable | PS5

Made by a two-person indie development team Shedworks, Sable is an open world exploration game with a distinct art style. First released on PC and Xbox consoles in 2021, Sable debuted on the PS5 last year, leading players on a loosely structured journey through its world. There’s a barebones story, but the game is mostly experienced through its environment and NPCs.

There is no combat, as well, with the focus firmly on puzzle-solving, exploration, and traversal. Players can explore the world on a hoverbike and find clues to an ancient civilisation. Exploration and quests also grant rewards that can help customise and upgrade the hoverbike.

Earlier this month, PlayStation also announced the lineup of games coming to its Game Catalog, available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium tier subscribers. Fantasy-RPG Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen led the pack of new titles, which also include Teardown, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, Superliminal and more. Teardown arrived as a launch title to the subscription service, releasing November 15 on consoles.

PlayStation Plus subscription in India starts at Rs. 499 per month for the Essential tier, Rs. 749 per month for the Extra plan, and Rs. 849 per month for the top-tier Deluxe plan. A yearly subscription costs Rs. 3,949, Rs. 6,699, and Rs. 7,599 for each tier, respectively.

PlayStation Black Friday Sale Goes Live Tomorrow With Discounts on PS5 Bundle, Physical Games, Accessories

PlayStation is preparing for its Black Friday sale again, promising huge discounts on games and high-end hardware. The sale begins Friday, November 17 — a weeklong head start that lets you stock up on all your gaming needs for this winter. Sony India seems intent on exhausting its inventory of PS5 Cricket 24 Edition bundles, which were released last month in anticipation of the ICC World Cup. It will once again cost Rs. 47,990 — down from Rs. 57,990 — it was originally touted as a limited-time offer, and comes packaged with a 4K Bluray-equipped disc variant of the console and a voucher code for the titular sports game. The PlayStation Black Friday sale ends November 30.

For now, there’s no word on how much a base PS5 console will go for during Black Friday, but going by past instances, we can assume that the disc variant will be priced at about Rs. 44,990. Then, of course, there’s the recently launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 bundle you can go for. Unlike the US version, this one doesn’t include the slimmer version of the PS5. In fact, Sony has not revealed when we can expect it to launch in India — it’s highly likely we won’t see one until the current stock is emptied. The company is also reducing the prices of its DualSense controllers — while not explicitly mentioned, it appears that all of them, irrespective of colourways, will be available at Rs. 4,299 — down from Rs. 6,390. As usual, the sale will be live across all authorised retailers, including Amazon India, Croma, Flipkart, GamestheShop, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC, and Vijay Sales.

First-party PlayStation games are also expected to go on sale site-wide, with Sony teasing the discounts on some physical copies. Starting tomorrow, God of War Ragnarök will go down from Rs. 4,999 to Rs. 2,999 on the PS5, giving new players a chance to delve into resume Kratos and a now-teenaged Atreus’ journey to the Nine Realms to prevent the oncoming prophesied apocalypse, while engaging in cinematic battles against Nordic gods and monsters. Meanwhile, the PS4 disc version will be discounted from Rs. 3,999 to Rs. 2,499. You can also experience a similar tale of fatherhood in The Last of Us Part I, a full-blown remake of the original 2013 game that’s set in a post-apocalyptic America ravaged by fungus-crazed zombies. It’ll set you back by Rs. 2,499. Horizon Forbidden West, which charts young hunter Aloy’s journey into a blight-infested frontier will be priced at Rs. 2,499, dropping from Rs. 3,999. As usual, digital games will also go on sale, exclusively on the Playstation store.

Players can also take both God of War Ragnarök and The Last of Us Part I for a test drive if they have a PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium subscription. As per a PlayStation blog, new members can save up to 30 percent on a 12-month membership during the Black Friday promotion — this plan range recently received a price hike, which was not well-received by fans. A standard one-year subscription costs Rs. 3,949. Additionally, existing PS Plus subscribers can save 25 percent when upgrading from an Essential plan to Extra, and 30 percent when going up to Deluxe/ Premium.

Sony India has also confirmed discounts on its Pulse series of over-ear headsets — black, white and camo variants — which will be listed for Rs. 7,650. However, if you visit Amazon tonight, you’ll be able to snag the black model at a cheaper price — it will cost Rs. 7,499 after a 13 percent discount.

PS5 Cloud Streaming Arrives This Month for PS Plus Premium Members: 4K Streaming, Save Syncing, More

Sony is launching cloud streaming for the PS5 console, later this month. The feature will be available to PS Plus Premium — highest-tier — members only, letting them stream select Game Catalog titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, and more, without having to download or actually own them. Unfortunately, it’s getting a staggered rollout, first launching in Japan, Europe, and North American regions, promising ‘hundreds’ of PS5 games in the future. The company confirmed the addition and testing of cloud streaming in June, as part of its pivot towards the technology, further solidified by its PlayStation Portal handheld device.

PS5 cloud streaming is slated to launch October 17 in Japan, followed by Europe on October 23 and North America on October 30. Furthermore, players can stream any titles they own digitally — no download needed — such as the new God of War Ragnarök, Resident Evil 4, and Dead Island 2, to name just a few, including any additional DLCs. As for quality, it appears the report from August was right, with Playstation offering four high-quality resolutions to choose from — 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, all with 60fps and SDR or HDR output. While players can certainly choose their preferred resolution, the results will ultimately depend on the type of internet connection they have. Sony recommends at least 15mbps for 1080p streaming and above 38mbps for 4K.

Technically, cloud streaming was made available when the refreshed PS Plus was launched last year, though it was limited to PS4, and the Classics Catalog containing PS2 and PS3 games. In addition to capturing screenshots, one can record up to three-minute-long clips of their gameplay, which will be downloaded locally onto PS5’s Media Gallery — also accessible via the PlayStation phone app. It’s also worth noting Sony’s choice of words, which states that the features from above will be available ‘exclusively’ on the PS5, ‘at launch’ — suggesting we might be able to stream games to other devices in the future. All of this will be packaged with the existing benefits of a PS Plus Premium subscription, which includes Game Trials (timed demos) for new titles, an assortment of free games every month, exclusive discounts, and access to online multiplayer and cloud storage.

In August, Sony raised the prices for its 12-month-long PS Plus plans, despite not providing a good enough justification for the membership, thanks to a lacklustre set of free games recently. The hike caused a bunch of fans to express their dismay by cancelling their subscriptions, so hopefully, the addition of PS5 cloud streaming works well in PlayStation’s favour. In fact, Sony claims the feature is already out in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. As stated before, India is nowhere on that list and in Sony’s upcoming staggered rollout plan.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe subscription starts in India from Rs. 849 per month.

PS5 to Receive Another Rs. 7,500 Discount From August 24 in India: All Details

Sony has planned yet another promotional sale for the PS5 in India, promising a discount of Rs. 7,500. The offer is only applicable on the 4K Bluray-equipped disc version of the console, and goes live Thursday, August 24, at select online and brick-and-mortar retailers. The sale is slated to run for nine days, going into September 2, and will cut the price down to Rs. 47,490. The drop is exactly the same as the July sale, so in case you missed that one, now would be a good time to snag a PS5. While supply shortages are certainly not an issue anymore, we’d suggest being a little prepared since flocks of gamers coming together to buy the console (online) could cause server loads.

This marks the second time Sony has offered a discount for the current-gen console since its price hike in November 2022, where the aforementioned disc version’s price went up by 10 percent. It is worth mentioning that neither the Digital version nor any game bundle variants are receiving any offer — unless a store decides to implement its own discount. As per a press release, when it comes to online retailers, the 15 percent discount will be live on Amazon India, Croma, Flipkart, Games the Shop, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC, Vijay Sales, and other ‘select retailers.’ Meanwhile, industry insider Rishi Alwani speculated that sales targets for the PS5 in India could be lagging far behind, hence a second sale has been offered within a one-month period.

He also added that back-to-back promotional offers in close proximity have got nothing to do with making room for the long-rumoured PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro consoles. Earlier this month, a leaked video showed a slightly slimmer version of the console, sporting a new cover, dual USB Type-C ports in the front, and a bulge on the side for what’s assumed to be space for a detachable disc drive. An Insider Gaming report from last year confirmed similar details about the newly revised console, which also lines up with Microsoft’s claims during its court battle against the US FTC, in early July. The Xbox parent company believes that Sony has got a less-expensive PS5 Slim model planned for release — costing $399.99 (about Rs. 33,093) — later this year. For now, it’s unclear what improvements the new console’s bringing with it, though if the leaked video is anything to go by, calling it ‘Slim’ is an exaggeration.

More recently, Sony began rolling out beta access to cloud streaming on the PS5, with select PS Plus Premium members being able to stream games at up to 4K resolution. Subscribers will be able to play a bunch of titles from the cloud without actually owning or downloading them on their console. For beta testing, players can choose between four main resolutions — 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p — and test a catalogue of 12 games, which includes God of War Ragnarök, Death Stranding, Demon’s Souls, Horizon Forbidden West, and more.

PS5 Cloud Streaming Beta Rolls Out to Select PS Plus Premium Members: 4K Support, Save Syncing

Sony has reportedly begun rolling out public beta access for cloud gaming on the PS5. As per ResetEra user ArashiGames, chosen PS Plus Premium members will be able to stream select games at up to 4K resolution. While the company confirmed the addition of cloud streaming in June, it’s only now that we’re learning about the supported resolution. That said, it’s unclear whether the maximum resolution refers to the in-game graphical fidelity or the streaming resolution, but a screenshot suggests that available resolutions are entirely dependent on the player’s internet connection. The core idea is that you can play games from the cloud without actually owning or downloading any of them.

For now, beta testers can choose between four main resolutions — 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and the aforementioned 2160p (4K), with Arashi claiming that cloud gaming automatically syncs with your game saves and the progression picks up from where you left off. Regardless, images will get compressed into a haze when being processed and delivered at high speeds across the internet. So, in the larger picture, it shouldn’t make a big difference if Ultra HD cloud streaming refers to the in-game render quality or the resolution it’s being streamed at. This serves as another incentive for players to sign up for a PS Plus Premium/ Deluxe subscription, which will in time, keep adding games to the platform.

Sony previously described the cloud streaming catalogue to include ‘supported PS5 games’ and now, thanks to Arashi, we know which ones they are. The catalogue includes 12 games, scattered between both first-party PlayStation titles that eventually made it to PC and some smaller third-party entries.

For comparison Xbox Cloud Gaming offers up to 1080p game streaming, running at 60fps — a feature that comes packaged with the higher-tier Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. In a sense, the upcoming PS5 cloud streaming service is a follow-up to the PlayStation Now service — suffering a rebrand after it got integrated into PlayStation’s revised plans. However, the aforementioned beta test is only for the PS5 and unlike PS Now, you can’t stream games onto a PC (the service itself isn’t available in India and several other countries). PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan also claimed, earlier this year, that Sony has ‘fairly interesting and aggressive plans’ for cloud gaming.

For now, it’s unclear whether Sony’s upcoming handheld Project Q will also support cloud streaming, though we already know that it will be limited to 1080p, remotely mirroring a PS5 system you own. It’s also worth noting that in April, the company reportedly tried hiring 22 roles related to cloud gaming technology.

Sony Is Testing Cloud Streaming for ‘Supported’ PS5 Games, PlayStation Plus June Games Revealed

Sony has announced that it has begun testing cloud streaming for ‘supported PS5 games’. The feature will be available for PS Plus Premium/ Deluxe members only and will allow players to stream select PS5 games directly — including the ones in the Game Catalog and Game Trials — without having to download them. The plan is currently in its early stages with no titles confirmed as of yet, but PlayStation has promised ‘as many games as possible’. The news arrives in the wake of Sony announcing Project Q, its latest handheld device, which also works on similar technology. The publisher also revealed an expansive list of 27 free games coming this month to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers.

“We observe mobility in gaming habits to be an increasingly important trend, and the cloud will be fundamental to allowing us, or indeed anybody else, to exploit that trend,” Jim Ryan, CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) said in an interview, promising aggressive plans for cloud gaming. The company previously dabbled in the technology by way of PlayStation Now, before it got packaged with the revised PS Plus. The Project Q handheld device was unveiled at the PlayStation Showcase event last week, sporting an 8-inch 1080p screen, supported on either side by a button layout and analogue sticks that are reminiscent of the PS5 DualSense controller. The device will let you stream games from your PS5 console either via Remote Play or Wi-Fi, and is slated to launch sometime next year — which explains this new, aforementioned development.

PS Plus Game Catalog for June

Additionally, Sony has announced the complete list of titles coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium catalogue, this month. The games will be available to claim starting next week, on June 20. Far Cry 6 leads the pack as the biggest AAA freebie, transporting you to the fictional tropical island of Yara, where corruption and political strikes overrun the streets. Don the role of an established rebel and embark on an open-world adventure to thwart its ruthless dictator Antón Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito) through creative gunplay, crafting, and more. Far Cry 6 will be available on the PS4 and PS5. On the same day, Rogue Legacy 2, the cartoonish rogue-lite featuring persistent dead heirs — no permadeath — will be making its way onto PlayStation for the first time.

Relive your childhood arcade memories in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, as you pick your favourite turtle and head into ruthless brawls, unleashing combos onto the Foot Clan, Triceraton Warriors, and more. It also comes with support for both online and offline couch co-op, if you’re going for that retro feel. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will be available to play on the PS4 and PS5. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided tosses you into a dystopian 2029, where mechanically augmented humans are deemed as outcasts. Players must assume the role of returning protagonist Adam Jensen and navigate a world that has grown to hate his kind, hoping to unravel a conspiracy. It will be out on the PS4.

Other major additions include Killing Floor 2, in which you descend into continental Europe after an outbreak, plaguing the streets with zombie-like specimens and causing governments to collapse. Gameplay largely resembles a zombie shooter, where hordes attack you in waves before culminating into a theatrical boss fight. Then there’s Inscryption, a roguelike deck-builder game that combines elements of escape-room puzzles and psychological horror, as you try unfurling the secrets lurking behind the walls of the shadowy dealer Leshy’s cabin.

While it’s the official PlayStation Blog that usually lists these games, this time it’s the PS UK Twitter account that tweeted out the entire list. The following games will be available exclusively to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe members from June 20 onwards (PS Plus Deluxe is called PS Plus Premium in select markets). Last month’s catalogue included Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Dishonored 2 to name just a few.

A follow-up tweet also lists the PS Plus Classics catalogue for June, available exclusively to PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium members. This month brings Killzone: Liberation (PSP), Worms (PS1) and Herc’s Adventure (PS1).

The PlayStation Plus Deluxe subscription starts in India from Rs. 849 per month, whereas the Extra subscription begins at Rs. 749 per month.

PlayStation Plus April 2023 Free Games: Meet Your Maker, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Tails of Iron

PlayStation has announced the monthly free games for April 2023 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The three free titles, which will be available on PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/ Premium tiers starting April 4 through May 1, include Meet Your Maker, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Tails of Iron. The month’s free games lineup from PlayStation is headlined by Meet Your Maker, a first-person building-and-raiding game arriving as a day 1 launch title to PS Plus. All three games can be added to both PS4 and PS5 game libraries till May 1. Users can continue playing the three titles as long as they are subscribed to PS Plus.

PlayStation confirmed its monthly free games for April on the PlayStation Blog, while also reminding PS Plus subscribers to add the monthly free games for March to their game libraries by April 3. This month’s PS Plus free games lineup includes multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2042, hack-and-slash dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons, and Souls-like action-RPG, Code Vein.

Meet Your Maker

Announced in August 2022, Meet Your Maker, is a first-person shooter that doubles as a building-and-raiding game. Developed by Behaviour Interactive, the game lets players build their own outpost and raid outposts built by other players, while navigating a labyrinth full of traps, obstacles, and enemies.

Meet Your Maker releases on April 4 and is arriving to PS Plus as a launch title. Played from a first-person perspective, the game features a host of firearms and explosives, with a melee weapon and a grappling hook as additional tools at your disposal. Think Super Mario Maker with more action elements thrown in. The game will be available to play on both PS4 and PS5.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Sumo Digital’s 2020 platformer, a spinoff of the popular LittleBigPlanet series, is also arriving to PS Plus in April. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a 3D platformer that follows the trials of its titular character. The game features improved interactivity and movement mechanics that make Sackboy more manoeuvrable.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is playable in up to four-player local and online multiplayer and will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

Tails of Iron

The third monthly free game coming to PS Plus in April is Tails of Iron, an action-RPG with Souls-like combat that released in 2021. Critically acclaimed at launch, the game features a unique hand-drawn art style that contrasts with its punishing combat. You play as Redgi, heir to the Rat Throne, on a quest to restore your fallen, war-plagued kingdom.

Redgi must take on the fearsome Frog Clan and their leader, Greenwart, with the aid of his companions. The game features robust crafting, including recipes and weapon and armour blueprints and help you on your brutal adventure.

Tails of Iron also arrives on both PS4 and PS5.

Earlier this month, PlayStation also announced the pack of games coming to its Game Catalogue, accessible to Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium tier subscribers, in March. Starting March 21, higher-tier PS Plus subscribers have access to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, indie launch title Tchia, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, Ghostwire: Tokyo, two Life is Strange titles, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and more.

PS Plus subscription in India starts at Rs. 499 per month for the Essential tier. The Extra tier of the subscription service costs Rs. 749 per month, while the top-tier Deluxe membership costs Rs. 849 per month. April’s three free games are included with all three tiers and are available till May 1.

God of War Ragnarök 3-Hour Free Trial Now Available for PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium Members

God of War Ragnarök is now available as a three-hour free trial on the PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium subscription. The trial debuted in North America earlier this week and has now arrived in India and the rest of the world — for both PS4 and PS5 owners. While the gameplay and mechanics aren’t too far off from what you might have experienced in the 2018 God of War, this trial period should be ample time to get a feel for Santa Monica Studio’s latest. The winner of six trophies at The Game Awards 2022, it was recently announced that this game sold over 11 million copies in the three months since its launch.

“If you haven’t picked up God of War Ragnarök already, now’s the perfect time to give it a shot!”, a tweet from Santa Monica Studio reads. If you choose to purchase the title after the trial period has ended, all progress and earned trophies will be carried over. Priced at Rs. 4,999, God of War Ragnarök resumes Kratos and his now-teenage son Atreus’ journey into the Nine Realms in pursuit of answers, as Asgardian forces prepare for Ragnarök, a prophesied great battle that will bring about the end of the Nordic era.
