Sony Xperia 1 VI Tipped to Offer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Triple Rear Cameras, More

Sony Xperia 1 VI is speculated to go official on May 17. Ahead of its launch, a report has leaked the design and key specifications of the Sony Xperia 1 V. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It is said to feature an OLED display with variable refresh rate and a triple rear camera unit including a 16mm ultrawide sensor. Sony is likely to consolidate its camera apps on the Sony Xperia 1 VI.

A report by MSPoweruser has leaked the design and hardware details of the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The purported phone is shown in black and platinum silver colours with a triple camera setup at the rear. It is said to have frosted textured glass on the back.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI reportedly features an upgraded OLED display 1.5x brighter than the Xperia 1 V. The screen could offer a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz with support for Sunlight vision mode and Bravia HDR remaster technology. The 24mm lens could be equipped with Sony’s “Exmor T for mobile” stacked CMOS image sensor. Sony will reportedly replace its Photography Pro, Videography Pro, and Cinema Pro apps with a single app inspired by its Alpha series cameras.

Sony is tipped to pack a 5,000mAh battery on the Sony Xperia 1 VI with support for wireless and reverse wireless charging. The battery could offer up to two days of life on a single charge and is likely to provide a life span of four years.

PS Plus Monthly Free Games for May Include EA Sports FC 24, Ghostrunner 2, Tunic and Destiny 2: Lightfall

Sony has announced the lineup of free games coming to PlayStation Plus in May. This month’s PS Plus offerings include four titles, led by popular football sim EA Sports FC 24. Other free games for May include action-platformer Ghostrunner 2, isometric action-adventure title Tunic and online shooter Destiny 2: Lightfall. All four titles will be available to PS Plus members across Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium tiers from May 7.

The PS Plus lineup for May was revealed on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday. All PS Plus members can add the four games to their library and access them at no additional cost as long as they have an active subscription. Ghostrunner 2, Tunic and Destiny 2: Lightfall can be added to the game library till June 3, but EA Sports FC 24 will be available on the service for an extended period till June 17.

Bear in mind that the free PS Plus games for April will be available till May 6, after which they will depart the service. April’s slate of PS Plus titles, announced in late March, includes first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum, spinoff strategy title Minecraft Legends and roguelike-action platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer. Here’s a look at the four free PS Plus titles for May:

EA Sports FC 24

This month’s PS Plus lineup will please FIFA fans as EA Sports FC 24 makes its way to the service. EA’s latest football sim, which launched last year in September, represents a new beginning for the popular franchise. The series shed its FIFA branding after failing to come to licensing agreement with football’s eponymous governing body. But FC 24 remains a familiar offering, bringing its arcade-style football gameplay across multiple single-player and online modes.

While there are no big changes in FC 24 (review), its Ultimate Team and Career modes are likely to keep players engaged until FC 25 arrives later this year. EA Sports FC 24 will be available to players on both PS4 and PS5.

Ghostrunner 2

Developed by One More Level, Ghostrunner 2 is a challenging action-platformer that features first-person parkour and sword combat. Sequel to Ghostrunner from 2020, the game puts players in the shoes of Jack, who can sprint, dash, wallrun and slide his way across challenging platforming sections and take on foes with his katana.

The game also provides additional tools like a grappling hook for traversal and shurikens for ranged attacks. Ghostrunner 2 arrives on PS Plus for PS5 users.

Tunic

An acclaimed indie action-adventure title that evokes classic Zelda games, Tunic lets players control a fox on an adventure through the ruins of a fantastical world. Much of the story unfolds through gameplay and environments as players find new pathways and instruction manual-style texts littered through the world.

Tunic encourages exploration and presents players plenty of puzzles and challenges in a cute visual style reminiscent of classic Nintendo titles. The game will be available on PS4 and PS5.

Destiny 2: Lightfall

After including Destiny 2: The Witch Queen in March’s PS Plus lineup, Sony now adds yet another major Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall, to the service. The seventh expansion to Destiny 2, Lightfall was released in February 2023, adding a new story, gameplay elements, a new Strand sub-class and a new free-roam world to the base game. The expansion requires the base game to play and will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

This month, PS Plus members will also get the PlayStation Plus Football Ultimate Team Starter Pack to aid new FC 24 players on their FUT journey. Last month, Sony also revealed the slate of games coming to the PS Plus Game Catalog, available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers. April’s lineup includes Dave the Diver, Animal Well, Tales of Kenzera: Zau and more.

PS Plus Game Catalog Titles for April Announced: Dave the Diver, Animal Well, Tales of Kenzera: Zau and More

Sony has revealed the slate of games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in April. In the coming weeks, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier members will get access to deep-sea exploration RPG Dave the Diver, Metroidvania action title Tales of Kenzera: Zau, indie platformer Animal Well, open-world racing title Crew 2, action platformer Raji: An Ancient Epic and more. Most of these games will be available on the PS Plus catalogue on April 16. Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Animal Well, on the other hand, will join the service as day-one launch titles on April 23 and May 9, respectively.

April’s lineup of PS Plus Game Catalog titles was confirmed on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday. Both Dave the Diver and Tales of Kenzera: Zau were revealed as Game Catalog titles for April earlier this month.

Developed by Mintrocket, Dave the Diver made quite a splash when it was released last year on PC. A Nintendo Switch port followed, and the game will finally arrive on PlayStation consoles on April 16 as part of the PS Plus catalogue. Dave the Diver features a colourful pixel art style and puts players into the swimfins of Dave, the eponymous diver who explores the sea during the daytime to catch exotic fish and then helps run a sushi joint in the night with the day’s catch. As Dave, players dive into the depths of the Blue Hole with a harpoon gun in hand, fighting off dangers, finding treasures and exploring the sea. At nighttime, players must help run a bustling sushi restaurant, providing unique dishes and exceptional service to their customers. Dave the Diver will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

This month’s lineup of Game Catalog titles is full of smaller, indie games. Animal Well, a cute but dark pixel-art style Metroidvania platformer developed by a one-person team of Billy Basso, arrives as a day-one launch title on May 9. In it, players take control of a shapeless blob, explore intricate levels and encounter a number of animal spirits. Aside from platforming, the game includes a fair number of puzzles. Animal Well will be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers on PS5.

Tales of Kenzera: Zau is another Metroidvania platformer that arrives as a day-one launch title on April 23. First announced earlier this month for PS Plus Game Catalog, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is a narrative-focussed 2.5D action platformer where players take control of the titular Zau, a young warrior seeking the God of Death. Its gameplay and visuals echo Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown from earlier this year, with fast-paced action combat and intricate platforming. Tales of Kenzera: Zau will be available on PS5.

Continuing the trend of indie action platformers, Raji: An Ancient Epic, developed by Indian studio Nodding Heads Games, also joins the PS Plus catalogue this month. The game is inspired by Indian mythology and lets players take on mythical beasts and demons as the eponymous protagonist Raji searches for her little brother. Raji features plenty of puzzles and sports a distinct art style and will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

Aside from Animal Well and Tales of Kenzera: Zau, all new PS Plus Game Catalog titles will be playable starting April 16. Do note that Game Catalog titles cannot be added to your game library and are only accessible till the time they are available on the service.

Late last month, Sony also announced the PS Plus monthly free games for April, available to subscribers across all tiers. These include Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends and Skul: The Hero Slayer. The three free games are live right now on the service and can be added to your game library till May 6.

Here’s the full list of games arriving on PS Plus Game Catalog this month for PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium members, starting April 16.

Additionally, Sony also announced the list of games coming to its PS Plus Classics catalogue this month, available only to PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium members. These include original PlayStation versions of Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire and MediEvil.

PlayStation Plus Extra subscription starts at Rs. 749 per month in India, while the Deluxe tier subscription costs Rs. 849 per month.

Sony Announces Summer Promo Offer in India, Select PS5 Models to Get Up to Rs. 13,000 Discount

Sony has announced a limited period promotional offer on select older PlayStation 5 models in India. The “Summer Promo” offer will apply on the standard PS5, bringing a discount of up to Rs. 13,000 on the console. The discount, announced in the wake of the launch of the slimmer version of PS5 in India, will start on April 10. The disc edition of the standard PS5, which launched in India in February 2021, is currently priced at Rs. 54,990.

The “Summer Promo” offer will only cover the disc version of the standard PS5 with model number CFI -1208A01R. The offer starts April 10 and will be active till April 30, or till stocks of the console model last. The standard PS5 will get a discount of up to Rs. 13,000. Sony India confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the discount will apply variably to applicable products and the offer will be valid on disc edition PS5 bundles, as well.

The discounts will be live on Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Centre, Vijay Sales and other participating retails, Sony said. It’s also worth noting that the promotional offer will not include the Digital Edition of the older version console and the newly launched PS5 slim.

The slim version of the PS5, first announced in October last year, went on sale in India last week. The latest discount is likely aimed at clearing out stocks of the older model of the console.

The PS5 slim, which is thinner and lighter than the standard PS5, comes in at the same price of Rs. 54,990 for the disc edition and Rs. 44,990 for the digital edition. The new slim variant of the console is also available for 10-minute delivery in select cities in India via Blinkit.

The PS5 has sold over 50 million units since its launch in November 2020, but sales of the console have been slowing down, Sony confirmed at its quarterly earnings call earlier this year. The company had said it was set to miss its PS5 sales target for fiscal year 2023, expecting to sell four million units fewer than its 25-million goal for the year.

PlayStation 5 Slim Goes on Sale in India With 10-Minute Delivery in Select Cities

PlayStation 5 Slim — or PS 5 Slim — went on sale in India on Friday, and customers can now purchase the gaming console online or via retail stores. In order to boost sales of the device, the company has partnered with hyperlocal delivery platform Blinkit to deliver the slimmed down version of its flagship gaming console to customers within minutes, in select cities. Sony has made both the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition available for purchase in India.

Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that customers in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai can place an order for the new PlayStation 5 Slim or the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition and have the console delivered within 10 minutes. The hyperlocal delivery platform has also made the PS5 DualSense controllers available for purchase.

The PlayStation 5 Slim is priced at Rs. 54,990, while the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition costs Rs. 44,990. If you purchase the digital edition, you have the option of picking up Sony’s PS5 Slim disc drive at a later date. The console will be available for purchase online via Sony’s ShopatSC website, Amazon, Flipkart, and Blinkit. You can also purchase the PS 5 Slim from retailers like Games The Shop.

Gadgets 360 was able to confirm that both the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition were available for purchase on Blinkit in both Delhi NCR and Mumbai — the standard edition was in stock in Mumbai, while the digital edition was available in the national capital with a 14-minute delivery window.

The slimmed down version of the 2021 PlayStation 5 model does not offer improved processor and graphics performance, but you do get more storage on the new variant — 1TB of storage vs Sony’s older 825GB drive. The PS5 Sim takes up 30 percent less space and is 24 percent lighter than the original model, according to Sony.

PS Plus Monthly Free Games for April Include Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends and Skul: The Hero Slayer

Sony has announced the slate of free games arriving on PlayStation Plus in April. The PS Plus monthly games for next month include first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum, spinoff strategy title Minecraft Legends and roguelike-action platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer. All three games will be accessible to PS Plus subscribers across Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium tiers starting April 2. Sony had also confirmed the games coming to the PS Plus Game Catalog earlier this month, with NBA 2K24, Marvel’s Midnight Suns and Resident Evil 3 leading the lineup.

The PS Plus offerings for April were announced on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday. All three games can be played at no additional cost. PS Plus members can add the free games to their library and access them as long as they have an active subscription. Bear in mind, April’s free games will be available till May 6.

PS Plus monthly games from March will be available to add to PlayStation Plus members’ game library until April 1, following which they will leave the service. The March free games lineup includes racing simulator EA Sports F1 23, kung fu beat ‘em up Sifu, online shooter Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and survival horror title Hello Neighbor 2. Here’s a look at the PS Plus offerings for April:

Immortals of Aveum

EA’s first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum lets players don magical gauntlets and shoot colourful spells at monsters and mages, Call of Duty-style. The action-adventure shooter from Ascendant Studios drops players into Aveum, a magical land ridden with long-running conflict. You play as Jak, a rookie soldier in the Everwar who discovers his magical powers and joins an elite order of battlemages to repel the dark forces.

First-person shooter fans would feel right at home in Immortals of Aveum (review). While there are no guns here, the spell shooting combat works pretty much the same way. Players have an array of offensive and defensive spells at their disposal and the game features a semi-open hub world that can be explored for gear, challenges, side quests and boss battles. The game will be available on PS5.

Minecraft Legends

The real-time strategy game from last year is a spinoff of the original game from Mojang. Minecraft Legends features many of the same features like base building and resource harvesting from Minecraft. The game tasks players with defending the world from a Piglin invasion by setting up defenses, buildings and troops.

Once players gather resources and become battle-ready, they can take on Piglin outposts and repel Piglin raids on friendly villages. The game features a single-player campaign, where players go up against Piglin hordes and bosses. Minecraft Legends also includes co-op and competitive multiplayer PvP mode, where players can take on other players online. The game is available on both PS4 and PS5.

Skul: The Hero Slayer

The PS Plus April lineup also includes Skul: The Hero Slayer, a roguelike-action platformer developed by SouthPAW Games that puts players in the shoes of Skul, a skeleton soldier in the Demon King’s army. As Skul, you go through winding levels and fight heroes to save demonkind.

As with roguelike games, Skul: The Hero Slayer features procedurally generated levels and many boss fights. Players can attack, dodge and teleport in combat and find new gear and abilities to get stronger. The protagonist’s skull can also be replaced with different skulls that bring unique abilities. The action platformer is available on both PS4 and PS5.

This month, Sony is also offering the Overwatch 2 Mega Bundle, which includes cosmetics and Battle Pass bonuses, to PS Plus members. Earlier this month, PlayStation also revealed the list of games coming to its Game Catalog, available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers. March’s titles include NBA 2K24, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Resident Evil 3, Lego DC Supervillains, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and more.

PS Plus Game Catalog Titles for March Announced: NBA 2K24, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Resident Evil 3 and More

Sony has announced the slate of games coming to PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in March. Starting March 19, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers will get access to popular basketball sim NBA 2K24, tactical RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns, survival horror title Resident Evil 3, and more. March Game Catalog offerings follow the month’s lineup of free games — available to all PS Plus members — that Sony announced in late February.

A PlayStation Blog post on Wednesday confirmed the pack of games joining the PS Plus Game Catalog this month. The newest NBA 2K title leads the lineup, offering basketball fans an authentic NBA experience. NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition features the late and great eponymous basketball star on its cover. Aside from featuring the latest NBA and WNBA teams with updated rosters, the game also features historic teams. The on-court gameplay has been refined, as well. Aside from the usual modes, NBA 2K24 also brings Mamba Moments, that allows players to relive Kobe Bryant’s career-high moments. 2K’s latest NBA title is also the first to support cross play between PS5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles. NBA 2K24 will be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium members on PS4 and PS5.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns also arrives on both PS4 and PS5 this month. The tactical RPG from Firaxis Games lets players create a custom superhero, The Hunter, and lead a host of Marvel heroes in turn-based battles that also employ deck-building mechanics. The base game includes 13 popular superheroes, including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Venom, Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and more.

PS Plus Game Catalog is expanding its Resident Evil offerings, too, bringing 2020’s Resident Evil 3 to the service this month. A remake of 1999’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the survival horror title from Capcom puts players in the shoes of former agent Jill Valentine and mercenary Carlos Oliveira stuck in a zombie-infested Racoon City. The third-person shooter also features plenty of puzzles. Resident Evil 3 will be available on PS4 and PS5.

In addition to the Marvel heroes from Midnight Suns, PS Plus is also adding DC villains to the mix with Lego DC Supervillains, available on PS4. The action-adventure platformer is a spinoff from the Lego Batman series and allows players to create a custom supervillain from scratch. The Justice League has vanished and it’s up to the supervillains to save the day for a change. Players can team up with iconic DC villains like The Joker and Harley Quinn and take on the threat of a different set of supervillains from another universe.

All PS Plus Game Catalog titles will be playable on PS4 and PS5 from March 19. The games will be accessible to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium subscribers. The four free games available in March to all PS Plus members across Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium tiers were announced late last month. These include Sifu, EA Sports F1 23, Hello Neighbor 2, and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Announced for PC, Will Launch on May 16

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, the open-world action-adventure game from Sucker Punch, is coming to PC, continuing the trend of first-party PlayStation titles releasing on Windows. The game will launch with the expected suite of PC features on May 16. The port, predictably, is helmed by veterans Nixxes Software, the Sony-owned studio that has previously worked on PC ports for first-party PlayStation titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Nixxes made the announcement on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday, adding the studio had been working on the port for the past year. The Director’s Cut version of the game will include the full game, the Iki Island expansion, and the cooperative online multiplayer Legends mode.

The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima will get platform-specific features like unlocked frame rates, a full range of graphical settings and presets, and customisable mouse and keyboard controls. Nixxes also confirmed ultrawide monitor support, with the game fully optimized for 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions, and an overkill 48:9 resolution for triple monitor setups.

Additionally, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be aided by performance boosting technologies like Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS with AI upscaling and frame generation options. Those with high-end hardware can also opt to use Nvidia DLAA or FSR 3 Native AA to improve image quality even further.

The PC port of the game promises extensive controller support, as well, but a PlayStation DualSense controller will bring more immersion with haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features.

Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020 as a PlayStation exclusive on the PS4. A Director’s Cut version of the game, which includes the Iki island story expansion, came out in 2021 for PS5 and PS4. The game, set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, puts players in the shoes of Jin Sakai, a samurai on the path of revenge.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is currently up for pre-order on Steam and Epic Games Store, priced at Rs. 3,999. Pre-ordering will unlock in-game items like the New Game+ Horse, Traveler’s Attire, and Broken Armor dyes from Baku’s shop when the game launches on May 16.

Nixxes is also set release the PC port of PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West, with the Complete Edition of the game set to release on March 21. The studio revealed the detailed list of PC system requirements for the game this week, confirming that the graphically demanding title would need at least 16GB of RAM to be played on PC.

PlayStation Plus Monthly Free Games for March Announced: Sifu, F1 23, Hello Neighbor 2 and More

PlayStation Plus monthly games for March have been announced. The lineup of free games for the month includes racing simulator EA Sports F1 23, kung fu beat ‘em up Sifu, online shooter Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and survival horror title Hello Neighbor 2. All four titles will be available to PS Plus subscribers across Essential, Extra and Deluxe/Premium tiers starting March 5. Members can add the monthly free games to their library till April 1.

Sony announced the PS Plus Match lineup on the PlayStation blog Wednesday. PS Plus members will also get a cosmetic bundle containing outfits and weapon skins for the free-to-play shooter, The Finals. The four free titles, once added to the game library, can be accessed as long as players have an active PS Plus subscription.

The free PS Plus games for February will expire from the service on March 4. These include Foamstars, Rollerdrome and Steelrising, all of which can still be added to the library for continued access. Here’s a look at the PS Plus offerings for March:

Sifu

Death is not the end in Sifu. SloClap’s beat ‘em up action title puts players in the shoes of an unnamed martial artist on the path of revenge. Players go through intricate levels, beating up hordes of minions to reach the boss, battered and bruised. Each time you die, your character advances in age. And you run through levels again and again until you have total mastery over them.

Sifu features slick and stylish hand-to-hand combat, based on timely blocks, parries and dodges. With a variety of moves and environmental attacks to choose from, the game demands practice and grit. With a unique art style, evocative soundtrack and set pieces reminiscent of iconic kung fu movies, Sifu blends old school beat ‘em up gameplay with a cinematic presentation. The game will be available on PS4 and PS5.

EA Sports F1 23

F1 23, from racing veterans Codemasters, serves as the official game for the 2023 Formula One and Formula 2 championships, taking players through the highs and lows of a gruelling F1 season. F1 games are known to be authentic experiences and F1 23 is no different. The racing sim includes the popular “Braking Point” story mode, first seen in F1 2021.

The game features the official F1 lineup of 20 drivers and 10 teams from the season. F1 23 also brings a new set of driving mechanics, red flags feature, and the ability to set race distances to 35 percent. The game will be playable on both PS4 and PS5.

Hello Neighbor 2

Sequel to 2021’s Hello Neighbour, this stealth horror title from Dynamic Pixels tasks players with a new mystery. As an investigative journalist, you must find the missing kids in Raven Brooks, a small town where everyone has a secret.

Players will get to sneak around the town and look for clues by explore houses as they slowly unravel the mystery. Hello Neighbor 2 will also be available on both PS4 and PS5.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

The PS Plus lineup for March also includes Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, a major expansion for the base game, available on PS4 and PS5. The expansion brings a new location, Savathûn’s Throne World, where players find themselves involved in a new mystery.

The Witch Queen expansion could be a great way to revisit Destiny 2 before the release of The Final Shape expansion later this year, which will conclude the game’s “Light and Darkness Saga.” Players will need to download Destiny 2, available free of cost on the PlayStation Store, to play The Witch Queen expansion.

Earlier this month, PlayStation also announced the list of titles arriving as part of the Game Catalog for PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium members. February’s titles include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, NFS Unbound, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, Tales of Arise and more.
