Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event for Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 Set for July 10: Report

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is likely to take place after a couple of months, according to a report. The latest leak related to the company’s next launch event is in line with previous reports that suggested the company would introduce new foldable handsets, the purported Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, at the event in early July. Foldables aren’t the only devices expected to be launched at the firm’s next Galaxy Unpacked event — Samsung’s new Galaxy Ring is also tipped to make its debut.

A SamMobile report citing multiple anonymous sources states that Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. The event will reportedly be held in Paris, and will take place ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics (Paris 2024) that are scheduled to begin on July 26. Samsung typically unveils new Galaxy Z series phones in the US, but made an exception in 2023 by holding the launch event in South Korea.

This year, Samsung is tipped to launch three foldable phones (it typically unveils two models) at its next Galaxy Unpacked event. The company could launch two book-style Galaxy Z Fold models, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, which is a clamshell-style foldable. The rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Ultra’ model is expected to arrive with hardware upgrades and a higher price tag, and might not be available in some markets.

At its next Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung is also expected to reveal more details about the Galaxy Ring, the company’s first miniature wearable with fitness tracking features. The company first teased the wearable device at its first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, where it launched the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones. It also showed off the design of the Galaxy Ring at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) in February.

Other devices that are rumoured to be in development, such as the Galaxy Watch 7 series and the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup could also be unveiled at the next Galaxy Unpacked event. Meanwhile, Samsung has also been working on an extended reality (XR) headset — the Samsung Galaxy XR — that could be launched at the event as a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset.

Samsung Galaxy Ring to Be Launched in 3 Different Colourways Later This Year: Report

Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month. Despite showcasing the new product, the company did not reveal any details about it. But now, a new report suggests that it could be launched later this year. The report also highlighted some of the expected features of the health-focussed wearable device and claimed that the Galaxy Ring would be a lightweight product. Further, the Samsung Galaxy Ring might also be made available in three different colourways and multiple sizes.

The report comes from SamMobile, which cites Avi Greengart, a tech analyst claiming to have received a hands-on experience with the prototype of the Samsung Galaxy Ring. In a Threads post, they revealed that the device was “incredibly” lightweight and would be available in multiple sizes, going up to size 13 (22.2mm). Additionally, the analyst also claimed that the device would be launched in three different finishes later this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring was positioned as a health device at the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean technology conglomerate unveiled its flagship Galaxy S24 series of smartphones. The Galaxy Ring it is said to be equipped with several sensors to track the user’s health markers and record physical activity. Some of these sensors could be seen in the teaser video, with the company calling it a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device” at the event.

And while Samsung has not revealed any details about the on-device sensors, the upcoming Galaxy Ring wearable is expected to feature a 24×7 heart rate monitor, an SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, a sleep monitoring tracker and other fitness tracking capabilities. It might also get a blood pressure monitoring feature and atrial fibrillation or AFib (a type of arrhythmia, which is a heartbeat abnormality) detection too, although these are based on more obscure rumours.

The device will also reportedly integrate Samsung Health with its features and will likely require a companion app or device to sync and show the data to the user. The ring will likely be compatible with both the Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphones. For charging, the inside of the ring might house a pogo pins slot, based on the visuals from the teaser.

While the Samsung Galaxy Ring’s price remains unknown, its competitor Oura Ring starts at $299 (approximately Rs. 25,000) in the US. Oura Ring is not available in India, but Noise launched its Luna Ring last year in the country and it is available to buy for Rs. 19,999. It is expected that Samsung’s wearable device will also be priced similarly.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 Event: What to Expect

Samsung teased a new product during the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 17. The company showcased a new Galaxy Ring wearable. Contrary to previous reports suggesting that the much-awaited smart ring will be the ‘highlight product’ at the event, the South Korean tech giant only revealed a small teaser video of the wearable. The Galaxy S24 series of smartphones was unveiled on Wednesday and the teaser was played towards the end of the event. Apart from how the Galaxy Ring looks, we do not know much about its features or launch timeline.

In the short teaser played at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event, we see the Galaxy Ring with a smooth, circular body in a black shade. The underside of the ring is seen housing several sensors, which are expected to help with the user’s health and fitness tracking.

The device was claimed to be a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.” It is said to integrate innovations offered by Samsung Health with its features but no further details were revealed. Notably, the Galaxy Ring, or at least its outline, can be seen towards the end of a Samsung Health promotional video.

Like most health and fitness trackers, the Galaxy Ring had previously been tipped to be able to track, measure, monitor, and upload health, fitness, and sleep-related data to relevant software. A trademark filing had been claimed to state that the smart ring would manage and assess “biometric and physiological data, vital signs and personal health records.” It could also tell users to seek medical advice if and when required, based on the data.

Another leak had suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Ring could be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors. It is also expected to offer a longer battery life than smartwatches since smart rings do not have to carry displays on them. The company has not yet confirmed these features or any other details of the smart ring. It has not announced a launch timeline for the smart wearable as well. Speculations on the matter suggest that it may be introduced to the market later this year, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Listed for Sale Ahead of Launch: Report

Samsung is all set to reveal the Galaxy S24 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event later this week, with pre-bookings said to begin a few days later. Customers should likely be getting their new flagship Galaxy S-series handsets later this month. Ahead of the Galaxy S24 series launch, however, a Mexican retailer has already started selling the upcoming flagship smartphones. While Samsung has remained tight-lipped about the phones, various leaks and rumours have detailed specifications and features of the Galaxy S24 series.

Tipster Roland Quandt, in a now deleted post on X, shared screenshots of a retail listing for the Galaxy S24. According to a Phone Arena report, Mexican retailer Doto listed the 128GB and 256GB storage variants of the Galaxy S24, with the pricing set at MXN 16,499 (roughly Rs. 81,000) and MXN 17,999 (roughly Rs. 88,400), respectively.

The screenshot of the Galaxy S24 listing page shows that only 10 units of the 128GB variant of the phone were in stock. And while the listing shows a Buy Now button, it’s unlikely that the retailer would start shipping the phones ahead of planned release.

Leaks about the Galaxy S24 lineup have taken over the Internet ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for January 17. Last week, tipster Ishan Agarwal claimed on X that Samsung would open pre-bookings for its upcoming flagship handsets in India between January 18 and January 19. The tipster also added that early deliveries for pre-booked handsets would begin “as soon as January 24.”

Meanwhile, German publication WinFuture.de has leaked the full specifications for the Galaxy S24 series ahead of its unveiling. Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will reportedly run on an Exynos 2400 chipset in European regions and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in other markets. The Snapdragon chipset will likely power the Galaxy S24 Ultra across all regions.

The Galaxy S24 is said to feature a 6.2-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) dynamic AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will likely be available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. In the camera department, the Galaxy S24 is expected to sport a triple rear camera unit, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. The phone could pack a 4,000mAh battery.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, will reportedly feature a bigger 6.7-inch (1,440×3,120 pixels) dynamic AMOLED display and a bigger 4,900mAh battery. While it will sport the same camera system as the base model, it could arrive in 256GB and 512GB storage options.

The top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to get a 6.8-inch QHD+ dynamic AMOLED display. The flagship phone will likely come in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options with 12GB of RAM. The phone is said to sport a quad rear camera setup, comprising a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom, and an additional 10-megapixel telephoto lens with support for 3x optical zoom. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is likely to get a Titanium frame, popularised by the iPhone 15 pro models, and could pack a 5,000mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Teaser Video, Ahead of Galaxy Unpacked Event, Shows Off New Hinge Design, Colour Options

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is set to take place on July 26 and its fifth iteration of foldable phones — the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 — will be the show’s major highlights. Ahead of the event, Samsung has released a teaser video to give us a glimpse of the colour options of its next flagship clamshell foldable and its redesigned hinge. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 appears to have no gap between its folding halves when the phone is folded. This upgrade could be the biggest distinction between the new model and the current Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Via a teaser video, Samsung gave a clear look at the new Galaxy Z Flip 5. The company has posted the teasers with the “Join the flip side” hashtag. It shows the handset in cream, lavender and mint shades with a familiar clamshell design that folds horizontally in half with a cover display that lets users finish tasks without unfolding the phone. As expected, following multiple leaks and rumours, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 appears to have a new hinge design to eliminate the gap between both halves while folding.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also expected to get a new waterdrop-style hinge that would allow the device to fold flat without any gap at the hinge. This might also let the phones stay flat when opened.

Samsung is gearing up to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26 in Seoul, Korea. The tech giant has remained tight-lipped about the price and specifications of the new foldables but rumour mills have already suggested them.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to come with an initial price tag of EUR 1,199 (roughly Rs. 1,08,900). As for specifications, it could run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 on top with a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080, 2,640 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED main display and a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The outer screen is tipped to be a 3.4-inch in size with up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It is expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. For optics, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to sport a 12-megapixel primary camera alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. There could be a 10-megapixel selfie camera as well. It is expected to carry a 3,700mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A34 5G was recently launched by the company in India alongside the more expensive Galaxy A54 5G smartphone. How does this phone fare against the Nothing Phone 1 and the iQoo Neo 7? Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Date Set for July 26, Company Teases Launch of Galaxy Z Flip 5

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is scheduled to take place in the last week of July, and the South Korean conglomerate has now confirmed the date of its next launch event. The company is expected to take the wraps off its newest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Meanwhile, the company is also expected to unveil new accessories such as the Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Galaxy Buds 3 TWS earphones. Unlike previous Galaxy Unpacked events held in European countries and the US, Samsung will host the next Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea.

In a press release on Thursday, Samsung announced that the next Galaxy Unpacked event would be held on July 26 in Seoul. The event will begin at 4:30pm IST, and will be streamed live via the company’s website and the company’s YouTube channel. This will be Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year — the firm launched its flagship Galaxy S23 series of smartphones at the first launch event in February.

Samsung’s promotional materials for its next Galaxy Unpacked event tease the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which is expected to debut as the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 that arrived last year. An image of the silhouette of a clamshell-style foldable phone is shown above text that reads “Join the flip side”. This year, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Flip 5 is tipped to feature a much larger cover display, and will compete with rival Motorola’s recently launched Razr 40 Ultra.

However, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is not the only device that Samsung is expected to unveil at the next Unpacked event. The company is also expected to launch the larger Galaxy Fold 5, which is tipped to feature a familiar design with a new hinge. The firm is also expected to unveil the next-generation Galaxy Tab S9 series and details of the tablets, such as their specifications and colour options recently leaked online.

Aside from the foldable phones and tablets, Samsung is also tipped to launch the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic at the next Unpacked event. The battery capacity for both smartwatches was recently leaked, and they are said to feature larger displays than their predecessors.

The Galaxy Watch 6 series is expected to run on the company’s Exynos W930 chip and feature support for irregular heart rhythm notifications. Besides these devices, the company is also expected to launch the Galaxy Buds 3 TWS earphones during the Galaxy Unpacked event later this month.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra Tipped to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab S9 series later this year with three purported models – the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Previous reports have suggested that the tablets could launch at a second Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of the year. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series with the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra models launched in February 2022. Now, a new report has suggested some key specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra model.

Tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) suggested in a tweet that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra tablet with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Qualcomm chipset for Galaxy also powers the Galaxy S23 series including the Samsung Galaxy S23, Samsung Galaxy S23+, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

According to the tipster, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will also have a 10,880mAh battery, which is three percent less than the 11,220mAh battery the South Korean tech giant used on last year’s Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy is more energy-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset used in the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, implying that the 2023 model could offer longer battery life.

A previous report had suggested that Samsung may include IP67 dust and water resistance rating on its upcoming flagship Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra tablet, a long-awaited feature for the company’s high-end tablets.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series is rumoured to launch in the latter half of this year, possibly at a second Galaxy Unpacked event, although no official confirmation is available yet.
