Samsung Galaxy Ring Model Numbers Reveal Compact Wearable Will Arrive in Eight Sizes: Report

Samsung Galaxy Ring is expected to arrive in global markets in the coming months, and details of the next-generation wearable have been leaking ever since the company first teased it in January. A new report reveals the model numbers of the wearable device, that suggest it will be available in eight sizes. Samsung is yet to reveal detailed specifications of the Galaxy Ring, which is expected to offer health and sleep monitoring features, and run for up to nine days on a single charge.

A Galaxy Club report (in Dutch) states that there are only eight confirmed variants of the Galaxy Ring. These are SM-Q500, SM-Q501, SM-Q502, SM-Q505, SM-Q506, SM-Q507, SM-Q508, and SM-Q509. Two model numbers appear to be missing, and it is currently unclear whether these represent additional sizes, or whether Samsung will introduce a ninth variant, like it previously announced.

The publication speculates that these model numbers will match US ring sizes 5 and higher, starting with the SMQ500. The following model numbers could represent larger ring sizes, up to size 13, which could correspond with the model number SM-Q509, as per the report.

Earlier this year, a tech analyst claimed that they had received a hands-on experience with a Galaxy Ring prototype, which would be available in multiple sizes, up to US size 13 (or 22.2mm). The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Ring is also expected to be available in three finishes. In a recent report (in Korean) Samsung revealed that the ring will offer nine days of battery life.

Meanwhile, a recent report suggests that Samsung is producing over 400,000 units of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, and mass production of the wearable is expected to begin next month. First teased at the company’s first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year in January, Samsung then showed off the ring again at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024), and the device is expected to be unveiled at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event in July, alongside the purported Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Samsung Galaxy Ring to Launch in H2 2024, Company Executive Confirms Timeline

Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17 where the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones were unveiled. The Galaxy Ring was said to launch as a health and fitness tracker compatible with the Samsung Health suite. While the company did not divulge any further details about the smart wearable, several leaks and reports since then have hinted at its key features and design. Now, a company executive has confirmed the Galaxy Ring’s launch timeline.

Senior Samsung executive Daniel Seung Lee confirmed in a LinkedIn post that the highly-anticipated Galaxy Ring will debut in the second half of 2024. He did not offer any further details on the matter nor did he hint at an exact date. The smart ring had previously been speculated to be revealed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. The confirmed launch timeline is in line with that assumption.

Last week, the Samsung Galaxy Ring was spotted on the Good Lock app under the battery widgets section, which suggested its imminent launch. The ring has been tipped to launch as a “lightweight” wearable in three colourways and come in different sizes up to 13 (22.2mm). The smart ring is also expected to support pogo pin charging.

The company previously claimed the Galaxy Ring to be a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.” To help with health and fitness tracking, the smooth, round ring was seen equipped with multiple sensors placed on the underside in the aforementioned official teaser.

Earlier leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Ring will likely be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG) or atrial fibrillation (AFib) sensors. It is also expected to carry 24×7 heart rate, SpO2, and sleep trackers. All health, fitness and sleep data from the smart ring are likely to be uploaded to the Samsung Health suite for monitoring.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Reportedly Spotted on Good Lock App Hinting at Imminent Launch

Samsung Galaxy Ring was announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 17. It was accompanied by a small teaser video which hinted at the design. It was claimed to be a “health and wellness device.” However, the company did not reveal any feature details, nor did it confirm a launch timeline. Several leaks about the Galaxy Ring have surfaced online over the past few days. The possible dimensions of the smart ring were suggested previously, now it has been spotted on one of the firm’s software suites.

A Reddit user spotted the Samsung Galaxy Ring on the Good Lock application under the battery widgets section alongside other Samsung devices. This suggests that the device is under development and is likely to launch soon. It has previously been tipped to launch later this year alongside the purported Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

An earlier report claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Ring will be “incredibly” lightweight. It is expected to be available in multiple sizes up to size 13 (22.2mm). The smart ring may also launch with three colour options. It is also likely to support pogo pin charging.

From the company teaser of the Samsung Smart Ring earlier this year, we have seen a round, smooth ring equipped with multiple sensors placed on the underside. These are expected to help users with health and fitness tracking. The company touts it to be a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.”

The Galaxy Ring, like most health and fitness trackers, has been tipped to be able to track, measure, monitor, and upload health, fitness, and sleep data to necessary applications. Older leaks suggested that the device may carry electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG)  or atrial fibrillation or AFib sensors, alongside the more common 24×7 heart rate, SpO2, and sleep trackers.

Samsung Galaxy Ring to Be Launched in 3 Different Colourways Later This Year: Report

Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month. Despite showcasing the new product, the company did not reveal any details about it. But now, a new report suggests that it could be launched later this year. The report also highlighted some of the expected features of the health-focussed wearable device and claimed that the Galaxy Ring would be a lightweight product. Further, the Samsung Galaxy Ring might also be made available in three different colourways and multiple sizes.

The report comes from SamMobile, which cites Avi Greengart, a tech analyst claiming to have received a hands-on experience with the prototype of the Samsung Galaxy Ring. In a Threads post, they revealed that the device was “incredibly” lightweight and would be available in multiple sizes, going up to size 13 (22.2mm). Additionally, the analyst also claimed that the device would be launched in three different finishes later this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring was positioned as a health device at the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean technology conglomerate unveiled its flagship Galaxy S24 series of smartphones. The Galaxy Ring it is said to be equipped with several sensors to track the user’s health markers and record physical activity. Some of these sensors could be seen in the teaser video, with the company calling it a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device” at the event.

And while Samsung has not revealed any details about the on-device sensors, the upcoming Galaxy Ring wearable is expected to feature a 24×7 heart rate monitor, an SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, a sleep monitoring tracker and other fitness tracking capabilities. It might also get a blood pressure monitoring feature and atrial fibrillation or AFib (a type of arrhythmia, which is a heartbeat abnormality) detection too, although these are based on more obscure rumours.

The device will also reportedly integrate Samsung Health with its features and will likely require a companion app or device to sync and show the data to the user. The ring will likely be compatible with both the Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphones. For charging, the inside of the ring might house a pogo pins slot, based on the visuals from the teaser.

While the Samsung Galaxy Ring’s price remains unknown, its competitor Oura Ring starts at $299 (approximately Rs. 25,000) in the US. Oura Ring is not available in India, but Noise launched its Luna Ring last year in the country and it is available to buy for Rs. 19,999. It is expected that Samsung’s wearable device will also be priced similarly.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 Event: What to Expect

Samsung teased a new product during the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 17. The company showcased a new Galaxy Ring wearable. Contrary to previous reports suggesting that the much-awaited smart ring will be the ‘highlight product’ at the event, the South Korean tech giant only revealed a small teaser video of the wearable. The Galaxy S24 series of smartphones was unveiled on Wednesday and the teaser was played towards the end of the event. Apart from how the Galaxy Ring looks, we do not know much about its features or launch timeline.

In the short teaser played at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event, we see the Galaxy Ring with a smooth, circular body in a black shade. The underside of the ring is seen housing several sensors, which are expected to help with the user’s health and fitness tracking.

The device was claimed to be a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.” It is said to integrate innovations offered by Samsung Health with its features but no further details were revealed. Notably, the Galaxy Ring, or at least its outline, can be seen towards the end of a Samsung Health promotional video.

Like most health and fitness trackers, the Galaxy Ring had previously been tipped to be able to track, measure, monitor, and upload health, fitness, and sleep-related data to relevant software. A trademark filing had been claimed to state that the smart ring would manage and assess “biometric and physiological data, vital signs and personal health records.” It could also tell users to seek medical advice if and when required, based on the data.

Another leak had suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Ring could be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors. It is also expected to offer a longer battery life than smartwatches since smart rings do not have to carry displays on them. The company has not yet confirmed these features or any other details of the smart ring. It has not announced a launch timeline for the smart wearable as well. Speculations on the matter suggest that it may be introduced to the market later this year, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
