Samsung Galaxy M55 Live Images, Key Features Leak Again; Tipped to Launch in India Alongside Galaxy M15

Samsung Galaxy M55 is expected to launch in India soon. Details about the handset have surfaced online recently suggesting the design, colour options and key features of the model. A new leak now hints at the India launch of the Galaxy M15 5G, which was recently unveiled in select global markets. The tipster has also suggested some more specifications of the Galaxy M55. It is likely to come with upgrades over the preceding Galaxy M54 5G.

Tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) shared in a post on X that the Samsung Galaxy M55 is expected to feature a Snapdragon chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and be “one of the slimmest Galaxy M-series phones till date.” To establish the latter point, the tipster shared live images of the handset compared to regular items like a notepad and a plastic bottle cap.

Notably, the older Galaxy M54 5G is 8.4mm thick. The tipster added that the Samsung Galaxy M15 5G is also expected to launch in India alongside the Galaxy M55.

Previously, the same tipster shared images of the purported Galaxy M55 model showcasing the handset in two colour options – black and blue. It was seen with a triple rear camera unit. The phone has also been spotted on certification sites which suggest that it could be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging. It is also expected to support 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and dual SIM connectivity.

An earlier Geekbench listing of the Samsung Galaxy M55 suggested that the phone may launch with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC paired with an Adreno (TM) 644 GPU and run Android 14-based One UI out-of-the-box.

Although the tipster did not mention any details of the Indian variant of the Samsung Galaxy M15, it is expected that it will share specifications with its global counterpart. The Galaxy M15 launched with an unnamed octa-core chipset, a 6.5-inch 90Hz full-HD+ Super AMOLED display, a 50-megapixel triple rear camera system, a 13-megapixel front camera, and a 6,000mAh battery with 25W charging support.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI Features Could Be Expanded to the Galaxy S22 Series: Report

Samsung could expand its Galaxy AI, the suite of artificial intelligence features which are currently only available on the Galaxy S24 series, to its older Galaxy S22 series as well, as per a report. Earlier, the tech giant had confirmed that the AI features would be added to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series as a part of its upcoming One UI 6.1 update, but it did not include the Galaxy S22 lineup.

However, according to a report by South Korean news outlet Naver News, TM Roh, the President of Samsung’s mobile division, revealed that some of the Galaxy AI features could be expanded to the Galaxy S22 series while speaking at the company’s 55th regular shareholders’ meeting in Seoul. Notably, the Galaxy S22 series comprises the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S22Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

As per Roh, the main issue in expanding Galaxy AI features to older devices is that some of the features are on-device. These features require high hardware capabilities that are not possible in devices that are too old. Samsung has found that the cut-off point exists in the Galaxy S22 series. “Resources and efforts are being invested. We are gradually preparing plans to support a fully-fledged Galaxy AI experience [in the S22 series and older Samsung devices],” Roh said in the meeting as per the report (translated via Google). It is not known why the South Korean tech giant is not adding the cloud-based AI features of Galaxy AI in older devices.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy Tab S9 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are all set to receive Galaxy AI features with the One UI 6.1 update that is expected to be released by the end of this month. The first Galaxy AI feature that is making its way to the company’s older phones and tablets is Circle to Search, which adds the ability to draw a circle around, highlight, or select objects and text in images to search on Google — without leaving the current app.

Other Galaxy AI features such as Live Translate, Chat Assist, Interpreter mode, Note Assist, Browsing Assist, and Transcript Assist will also be expanded to these Samsung devices.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Tipped to Feature Same Processor as International Galaxy S24 Series Models

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is expected to make its debut later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6, followed by a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold FE. The company’s successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to arrive with the same chipset that powers the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ handsets in international markets, according to a tipster. The company’s clamshell-style foldable phone is currently its most affordable option in the Galaxy Z series.

Tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim Samsung could equip the Galaxy Z Flip 6 on the with an Exynos 2400 processor. Earlier this year, the company launched the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with the same chip in international markets except North America and China, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra arrived with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in all markets.

Given Samsung’s decision to equip the less expensive Galaxy S24 series models with its own Exynos processor, its rumoured inclusion in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 does not sound very unlikely. It’s worth noting that unlike the company’s previous chips, the Exynos 2400 managed to give the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 some serious competition earlier this year.

The Exynos 2400 features a high-performance Arm Cortex-X4 core with a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores (two cores at 2.9GHz and two at 2.6GHz) along with four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores clocked at 1.92GHz. It is the company’s first processor to use the Fan-out Wafer Level Package (FOWLP) which is said to improve thermal management for sustained performance.

Recently leaks related to the purported Galaxy Z Flip 6 suggest that the handset will be equipped with a larger cover display than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The latter made its debut in the second half of 2023 with a 3.4-inch cover screen. This year’s clamshell-style foldable from Samsung is also tipped to arrive with a larger battery and up to 12GB of RAM. More details about the phone are expected to surface ahead of its anticipated arrival in July.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip Could Arrive in July Ahead of ‘Galaxy Z Fold FE’ Debut: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to debut later this year as the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, respectively, alongside a third, entry-level foldable phone. The Elec reports (in Korean) that the smartphone maker is planning to launch its foldable phones in the second half of 2024. Meanwhile, the South Korean firm is reportedly expected to finalise the specifications and suppliers for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of smartphones by May.

According to the report, Samsung will start to produce components for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 at the start of May, allowing the company to launch these foldable phones by mid-July. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 on July 26 last year — its 2022 models arrived in August.

Two months after the anticipated launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Fold 6, Samsung is also planning to launch a cheaper version of the latter, called the Galaxy Z Fold FE, as per the report. This more affordable model will reportedly arrive without stylus support in order to keep costs low, and will debut around September or October — around the same time that Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series of smartphones.

The successors to the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones are expected to arrive in early 2025, and Samsung is expected to decide the product specifications and component suppliers for its next flagship handsets by the end of May, according to the report.

Last month, it was reported that Samsung is working on a standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and a Galaxy Z Fold ‘Ultra’ model that could be launched later this year — the latter would be the firm’s most expensive foldable, like the Galaxy S series, which also has an Ultra model. More details on the company’s foldable phones are likely to emerge in the coming weeks and months.

LPDDR6 RAM to Reportedly Debut on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC Later This Year

LPDDR6 RAM (Low Power Double Data Rate 6 Random Access Memory) — the next iteration of RAM could make an appearance later this year. It is expected to be announced in the third quarter of this year and could be used on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The LPDDR6 memory that will be replacing the existing LPDDR5 memory is expected to offer improved data transfer speeds and increased bandwidth compared to its predecessor. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series is said to come with LPDDR6 memory and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC with increased data bandwidth for performing AI tasks. This could give the flagship series an advantage over the next iPhone 16 series.

As per a report by Korean publication AjuNews, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are speeding up the mass production of LPDDR6 DRAM to take a lead in the AI-driven industry. The LPDDR6 memory that would replace the existing LPDDR5 reportedly offers improved data bandwidth for faster processing of AI tasks on the device.

The Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC) is reportedly going to announce the features of LPDDR6 DRAM in September. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are also expected to unveil their LPDDR6 DRAM chips around that time.

The current generation LPDDR5 DRAM standard was announced in February 2019. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have introduced LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T variants, respectively.

The performance of LPDDR6 is still under wraps. The LPDDR5 has a maximum bandwidth of 6.4Gbps while LPDDR5X has a bandwidth of 8.5Gbps. The LPDDR6 memory is expected to be used in handsets powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC for attaining increased data bandwidth for performing AI tasks. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models are expected to run on this next-generation Qualcomm chipset in select countries while the Galaxy S25 Ultra could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC across the globe.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC is slated to arrive in October this year with Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU cores. These CPU cores and the new LPDDR6 are speculated to perform faster than the CPU cores inside Apple’s upcoming A18 Pro.

Elon Musk Says X’s Long-Form Videos Will Soon Be Available on Smart TVs

Long-form videos will soon be available on smart televisions, billionaire Elon Musk said, after Fortune magazine reported that social network X planned to launch next week a TV app for Amazon and Samsung users.

The platform rolled out an early version of video and audio calling for some users last October, after Musk had said he planned to turn it into a super app offering services from messaging to peer-to-peer payments.

“Coming soon,” Musk said in a brief response on X to a user’s posting that the platform’s long-form videos could be watched directly on smart TVs.

Earlier, Fortune said the app could look similar to the TV app offered by Google’s Youtube. It cited an unidentified source as saying Musk was set on competing with YouTube.

X did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for further details on the app.

In the push to become a “video-first platform”, X has been forging partnerships with the likes of former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson and former CNN anchor Don Lemon.

The platform, which has struggled to retain advertisers amid controversies ever since Musk bought it in 2022, said last month it would enable advertisers to run video ads next to certain content creators.

Apple Could Release a Foldable iPhone in 2026, Will Reportedly Be Thinner, Lighter Than Competitors

Apple is said to be working on a host of foldable devices, with a clamshell foldable phone and a foldable tablet rumoured to be in the works. Earlier this week, a prominent Apple analyst claimed that a foldable MacBook would in fact be Apple’s first product in the category, going into mass production in 2027. Now, a tipster has said that the company plans to release a foldable iPhone in 2026.

According to Revegnus (@Tech_Reve), a folding iPhone would be Apple’s first foldable, with the company eyeing a release window of 2026. The new information contradicts reports from last month that claimed the company had halted development on a foldable phone over display issues.

The tipster, citing a report from Korean outlet AlphaBiz, said that Apple’s foldable phone would release in 2026. The report allegedly quotes a senior Apple official, shedding light on the iPhone maker’s plans for a folding phone. “Apple has decided to release the foldable iPhone in 2026, which is later than expected,” the official was quoted saying (translated from Korean). “As it is a later release than its competitors, we know that cutting-edge technologies will be concentrated.”

According to the report, the Apple official said that the foldable iPhone would be thinner and lighter than the competition, with a focus on preventing crease marks on the folding screen. “”In particular, the goal is to avoid the wrinkles that competitors are struggling with,” the official was quoted as saying.

While Apple has lagged behind in the foldables segment, rivals Samsung and Google already have foldable phones in the market. Samsung has released five generations of both clamshell and book-style foldable phones, while Google launched the Pixel Fold last year.

The latest update contradicts reports from earlier this week that said that Apple’s first foldable would be 20.3-inch foldable MacBook, which would likely enter mass production in 2027. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that a MacBook was Apple’s only foldable product with a clear development schedule at the moment. “My latest survey indicates that currently, Apple’s only foldable product with a clear development schedule is the 20.3-inch MacBook, expected to enter mass production in 2027,” Kuo said this week in a post on X.

While Apple has been rumoured to be working on an unspecified large-screen foldable, alongside folding iPhone and iPad models, a report last month had said that Apple had paused development on a foldable phone over issues with the folding display.

Both models were also reportedly listed in Ice Blue, Lemon, Lilac, and Navy Blue colour options.

The phones also reportedly support dual-SIM and eSIM connectivity and come with a hybrid SIM tray. They also support Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C connectivity, the report claims.
