Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) may come to the market soon. The tablet has been listed on several certification sites in the recent weeks. Now the moniker of the tablet has been spotted online. The purported tablet is expected to come with upgrades over the 2022 model, which itself was a refreshed version of the 2020 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is expected to be offered in both LTE and Wi-Fi variants. Key features about the tablet, like the processor, battery and OS details, have also leaked previously.

The moniker Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG listing with the model numbers SM-P620 and SM-P625, suggesting both LTE and Wi-Fi variants. Since the model is expected to launch later this year, it is likely to carry the moniker of Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024). The tablet will likely support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, as per the listings, but they do not confirm any other details.

A MySmartPrice report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is likely to be powered by an in-house Exynos 1280 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. The tablet is also expected to ship with Android 14-based One UI 6. The report added that an earlier FCC listing suggested that the tablet would be backed by a 7040mAh battery with support for 15W wired fast charging.

According to the report, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is also expected to feature a 10.4-inch LCD screen as well as support for WACOM S-pen and dual-band Wi-Fi. The tablet is also tipped to be offered in Chiffon Pink, Oxford Gray, and Light Green colour options. The design of the upcoming tablet was also recently seen in a Safety Korea certification listing.

Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) comes with a Snapdragon 720G SoC, a 7,040mAh battery, a 10.4-inch WUXGA TFT display, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It ships with Android 12-based One UI 4.

Tablet Shipments Grew 21 Percent in India in Q4 2023; Apple Leads Market With iPad 10, iPad 9 Models: Report

The Indian tablet market witnessed growth on a quarter-on-quarter basis in the last quarter of 2023. CyberMedia Research (CMR) in their Tablet PC Market Report Review for Q4 2023 noted that the tablet shipments for Q4 2023 grew, driven by a strong demand for 5G tablets. Tablets with only Wi-Fi connectivity also performed well in the quarter, seeing a quarterly rise in shipments as well as accounting for a majority of the market share. Some of the leading tablet brands as per the report were Apple, Lenovo and Samsung.

As per the CMR report, in Q4 2023 the total tablet shipments in India grew 21 percent on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis. Shipments for 5G network-supported tablets increased 43 percent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, while tablets supporting only Wi-Fi connectivity rose 13 percent YoY, the latter accounting for 52 percent of overall shipments. The report added that shipments for the premium tablet segment, i.e. models ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000, saw a 95 percent jump QoQ, showing a shift of the market towards high-end devices. 

Apple retained its lead market share wise with 25 percent, the report claimed. This was boosted by the growing demand for the company’s iPad 10 and iPad 9 series models, according to the report. Lenovo claimed the close second spot with a 24 percent market share, with the Lenovo Tab M10 and Lenovo Tab M9 being the company’s lead models in India in the past quarter, the report noted.

Trailing behind Apple and Lenovo, South Korean tech giant Samsung grabbed the third spot in tablet shipments in Q4 2023 with a 19 percent market share. The most popular models from the brand were the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, according to the report.

For the calendar year 2023, the tablet market in India witnessed a 14 percent YoY decline in shipments, as per the report. However, 5G tablet shipments grew 48 percent YoY in the calendar year. The report also noted that although there was an overall decline in tablet shipments, the growth of 5G tablet shipments suggests a potential shift in consumer preferences within the tablet market.

In the forecast for 2024, the report said that the Indian tablet market will see a steady 5-10 percent growth driven by technological advancements, diverse product offerings, and evolving consumer preferences.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) has been silently launched in Italy. The tablet is equipped with a Snapdragon 720G SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The 2020 version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was powered by an Exynos 9611 processor under the hood. The tablet sports a 10.4-inch LCD display with S Pen support, features AKG-tuned speakers, and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs on Android 12-based One UI 4 out-of-the-box.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) price is set at EUR 399.90 (roughly Rs. 32,200). It is listed for pre-order via Amazon in a single 4GB + 64GB storage option. The tablet will be sold in an Oxford Gray colour option, according to the listing, and will be available for purchase starting May 23. The tablet is yet to be included on the Samsung Italy website, and the listing on Amazon does not currently include an LTE model. Meanwhile, the company is yet to announce plans to launch the tablet in other markets, including India.

In 2020, Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in India priced at Rs. 27,999 for the Wi-Fi only variant, while the LTE model came with a Rs. 31,999 price tag. The tablet is sold in Angora Blue, Chiffon Pink, and Oxford Gray colour options via Amazon and the Samsung India e-Store.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) runs on Android 12-based One UI 4 out-of-the-box. It sports the same 10.4-inch WUXGA (1,200×2,000 pixels) TFT display as the 2020 model. The tablet is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 720G SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM. For photos and videos there is a single, 8-megapixel camera sensor at the back equipped with an auto-focus lens. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) also comes with a 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video chats.

The tablet offers 64GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via a microSD card slot. The tablet is equipped with AKG tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite packs a 7,040mAh battery that is charged over a USB Type-C port, unlike its predecessor which came with a Micro USB port. The tablet also comes with the S Pen support, and weighs 465 grams, according to the Amazon listing.
