Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Tipped to Feature a Triple Rear Camera Setup

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 200-megapixel quad rear camera setup was launched in January. Now, an early leak reveals that next year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra will get a major camera overhaul. Samsung is said to be testing the next year’s flagship with three rear cameras instead of four. The upcoming model could lack a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom that is present on the current phone. It is likely to retain the 200-megapixel primary sensor.

Tipster Sperandio4Tech (@ISAQUES81) on X claimed that Samsung is testing the Galaxy S25 Ultra with three rear cameras — a main sensor, an ultra-wide unit, and a periscope zoom setup. The smartphone major has allegedly dropped the 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto sensor from next year’s flagship. This would be a major hardware change from its predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Ultra gets a quad rear camera setup, headlined by a 200-megapixel wide camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra prototype is said to have the same 200-megapixel main camera, but its ability to capture light could be improved. It is tipped to have the same 12-megapixel ultrawide lens and it is not subject to changes in this prototyping stage. The periscope camera is being tested with a large sensor and variable zoom. Samsung is testing the periscope camera with two fixed focal lengths, the first between 4x and 5x zoom, and the second between 6x and 7x zoom.

Since this is a prototype we are talking about, it is recommended to treat this rumour with a pinch of salt. A few leaks have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will get minor changes over its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Could Feature ‘Battery AI’ for Improved Battery Life: Report

Samsung might be working on a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered feature dubbed Battery AI that could let users save up to 10 percent of battery life in next year’s Galaxy S25 series and future flagships. Reports have suggested that the expected next-generation S-series smartphones — the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra — could arrive with no upgrades to battery capacity. However, the battery expenditure could increase given the new AI features. The tech giant is reportedly aiming to offset that with its Battery AI feature.

The information comes from tipster PandaFlash (via Wfcctech) who made a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) highlighting that the South Korean tech giant is working on a new AI feature called Battery AI. The tipster claimed, based on an unnamed source, that the feature will save between five to ten percent of battery life in the company’s future flagship models. Notably, he did not mention how the feature achieves this.

While the workings of Battery AI were not specified, it is believed that it will not use the techniques of traditional battery-saving software that throttle the CPU and GPU and block background activity to make the battery last longer. However, since it is also a software-based feature, it will not improve the battery life at a hardware level. It could use on-device intelligence to automatically stop the background activity of apps that have not been used for a while or activate settings to stop system functionalities based on user behaviour.

For instance, it might track the sleeping time of a user and during that period it can automatically pause notification alerts, reduce brightness, turn off the always-on display, and similar features. It could also do the same when the device is inactive for an extended period during the daytime. It is difficult to know for sure till Samsung makes an official announcement.

Notably, the tipster did not mention the Galaxy S25 series in the post, however, it is likely given all the recent updates by PandaFlash were directed for the next year’s S-series phones. This feature is likely to be a part of the Galaxy AI ecosystem. If the reports of Samsung not increasing the battery capacity of next year’s S25 series are true, this feature could be crucial for users to get the most out of the limited battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series to Run on Snapdragon and Exynos Chipsets: Report

Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series running on Snapdragon and in-house Exynos chipsets in January. The South Korean technology conglomerate was tipped last month to fully switch to Exynos SoCs for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup next year. A new report, however, contradicts the claim and says that Samsung will once again opt to split its Galaxy S25 smartphones between Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets. The company will reportedly utilise Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Exynos 2500 chipsets for its next generation of flagship Galaxy S series smartphones.

According to a report by DigiTimes Asia (via SamMobile), Samsung will stick with its strategy of using both Qualcomm and Exynos chipsets for its Galaxy S series smartphones. The report does not specify which phones in the lineup will run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but we can expect the Qualcomm SoC to feature on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra in all markets. Other phones in the series — likely to be Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ — could feature the Exynos 2500 chipset or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, depending on the region where they are sold.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 globally, while the in-house Exynos 2400 SoC powers the base Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in markets outside the US, including India.

Last month, a rumour claimed that Samsung may use either an Exynos SoC or a Snapdragon chip, depending on the region, even on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldables. This would be a departure from Samsung’s usual practice of packing Snapdragon processors in its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones.

Samsung is also working on closing the performance gap between Qualcomm and Exynos chipsets. Last week, a tipster claimed that the company’s Exynos 2500 processor outperformed the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in terms of both CPU and GPU performance. The claim, however, was not backed by any performance metrics and benchmark numbers.

While there are no benchmarks available yet, the Exynos 2500 chipset is said to comprise a Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.2GHz or more, three Cortex-A730 cores at up to 2.5GHz, two more Cortex-A730 cores, and four Cortex-A520 cores with undisclosed clock speeds.

Early in March, the Galaxy S25 series was tipped to run entirely on Samsung’s Exynos chipset. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, meanwhile, has been confirmed to launch with a custom Oryon CPU at the Snapdragon Summit in October. The chipset is expected to power upcoming flagship Android phones like Samsung Galaxy S25, Xiaomi 15 series, and Asus Zenfone 11.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip Could Arrive in July Ahead of ‘Galaxy Z Fold FE’ Debut: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to debut later this year as the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, respectively, alongside a third, entry-level foldable phone. The Elec reports (in Korean) that the smartphone maker is planning to launch its foldable phones in the second half of 2024. Meanwhile, the South Korean firm is reportedly expected to finalise the specifications and suppliers for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of smartphones by May.

According to the report, Samsung will start to produce components for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 at the start of May, allowing the company to launch these foldable phones by mid-July. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 on July 26 last year — its 2022 models arrived in August.

Two months after the anticipated launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Fold 6, Samsung is also planning to launch a cheaper version of the latter, called the Galaxy Z Fold FE, as per the report. This more affordable model will reportedly arrive without stylus support in order to keep costs low, and will debut around September or October — around the same time that Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series of smartphones.

The successors to the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones are expected to arrive in early 2025, and Samsung is expected to decide the product specifications and component suppliers for its next flagship handsets by the end of May, according to the report.

Last month, it was reported that Samsung is working on a standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and a Galaxy Z Fold ‘Ultra’ model that could be launched later this year — the latter would be the firm’s most expensive foldable, like the Galaxy S series, which also has an Ultra model. More details on the company’s foldable phones are likely to emerge in the coming weeks and months.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series broke cover in January during its Galaxy Unpacked event. While the in-house Exynos 2400 SoC powers the regular Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in markets outside the US including India, the Galaxy S24 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC across all countries. A tipster now suggests that Samsung will use only Exynos SoCs in the entire Galaxy S25 series next year. However, the Galaxy Z Fold phones coming in 2025 are said to use Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets.

Tipster Connor (@OreXda) on X claimed that the next Galaxy S series smartphones will use Exynos SoCs. This indicates that next year’s Galaxy S25 lineup could come equipped with the yet-unannounced Exynos 2500 SoC. This year’s Galaxy S24 phones run on Exynos 2400 SoC in select regions.

Further, the tipster claims that 2025’s Galaxy Z series foldable phones will only use Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. If Samsung’s past launches are anything to go by, presumably the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be powered by next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. The entry-level and mid-range Galaxy A series are tipped to come with a mix of MediaTek and Exynos SoCs in 2025.

However, Samsung is yet to reveal plans for its 2025 product lineup. Also, the names of the next-generation chipsets from Qualcomm and Exynos are not yet known. Therefore, this leak should be considered with a grain of salt.

As mentioned, Samsung used both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ this year. In multiple markets such as the US, China, Japan and Canada, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. In all other countries including India, they run on the Exynos 2400 chipset. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in contrast, packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip across all markets.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 has a starting price tag of Rs. 79,999 for the base 8GB + 256GB variant in India, the Galaxy S24+ pricing starts at Rs. 99,999, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a starting price tag of Rs. 1,29,999.

Known tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) has claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will come with a brand-new design. The South Korean smartphone brand could redefine and refresh the image of Samsung Galaxy beginning with the 2025’s flagship series. This transformation is said to be led by Hubert H. Lee, the EVP and Head of Samsung’s MX (Mobile eXperience) design team. Lee previously worked as Chief Design Officer of Mercedes-Benz China before taking up the role in December last year. 

If this leak holds any weight, the Galaxy S25 lineup’s design will be a departure from the familiar design seen in current and previous flagship models. Also, this might set a new standard for all future Galaxy S devices.

The same tipster earlier claimed that Samsung will ditch the ISOCELL sensors and use Sony image sensors as the main camera on the purported Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. This is considered to be a notable upgrade over the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ that have the in-house Samsung ISOCELL GN3 50-megapixel sensor.

Samsung’s Galaxy S series phones in 2025 are expected to come with new camera hardware, according to a tipster. The regular Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are tipped to drop Samsung’s ISOCELL sensors as the main camera in favour of a Sony image sensor. The South Korean brand has used the ISOCELL GN3 sensor in its recent flagship smartphones including the Galaxy S23 series.

As per a recent leak, the Galaxy S24+ will use a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM. The regular model is expected to run on an Exynos 2400 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy S24 is said to get a 6.2-inch full-HD+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate, whereas the Galaxy S24+ could pack a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with 120Hz screen.

The vanilla Galaxy S24 will reportedly house a 4,000mAh battery with super-fast charging support, while the Galaxy S24+ is said to be backed by a 4,900mAh battery with super-fast charging 2.0 support.
