PS5 India July 23 Restock: How to Pre-Order PlayStation 5 Digital Edition

PS5’s July restock is here, and it’s a unique one. Today at 12pm noon, only the disc-less variant of Sony’s elusive next-gen console — PS5 Digital Edition, priced at Rs. 39,990 — will be up for pre-order in India. This has never happened before, going back to the India launch of the PlayStation 5 in February 2020. In every restock since, Sony India has offered the Rs. 49,990 Blu-ray-equipped PS5 on its own, or along with the PS5 Digital Edition, and in recent months, the Gran Turismo 7 bundle. This also means that for the first time since November 2021, the more expensive PlayStation 5 won’t have a monthly restock in India. Hopefully, things return to normal in August.

If you are trying to buy PS5 Digital Edition online, you can do that on Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, Game Loot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, Sony Center, and Vijay Sales. You can also check out game stores near you. Those tend to be a better shot at times. Though as has been the case for over a year now — the PS5 celebrated its first birthday in India earlier in 2022 — the big concern is whether you can actually manage to buy one, given Sony India’s continued inventory struggles.

The July 23 PlayStation 5 restock is just the 11th time Sony’s disc-less PS5 is being made available for pre-order in India, since its launch in February 2020. (By contrast, interested buyers have had the opportunity to pre-order the Blu-ray-equipped variant of Sony’s flagship console 17 times now, with the June restock being the latest one.) Of course, that is far from the only hassle with buying a PlayStation 5 in India. Every single time, the likes of Croma and Games The Shop have shown themselves to be unable to handle the load. Going by earlier estimations, the shipping date for the new PS5 Digital Edition pre-orders should be a week to 10 days from July 23. Whatever it is, all official PS5 online retailers — including Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, GameLoot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales — should be in line with Sony Center. At times, we have seen some online retailers ship out their PS5 pre-orders prior to the announced delivery date too.

Sony India’s retail shops Sony Center have their own website through which you can buy PlayStation 5. ShopAtSC offers free home delivery from the nearest Sony Center, but you can also choose to pick up from the nearest store once the first orders are shipped.

God of War Ragnarök Set to Release on November 9; Pre-Order Bonuses, Special Editions Revealed

God of War Ragnarök’s release date is set for November 9. Sony shared a cinematic trailer for the game on Wednesday confirming that it will be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Fans of the franchise will be able to pre-order it starting July 15 at 10am EST (7:30pm IST). The four editions of God of War Ragnarök have also been revealed along with pre-order bonuses. Notably, none of these bundles include a physical copy of the game, which has been seemingly replaced by empty steelbook cases.

God of War Ragnarök – Standard Edition / Launch Edition

Sony made the God of War Ragnarök release announcement on Wednesday confirming the November 9 release date. The standard edition will give players access to the complete game. The pre-orders will open from July 15 and will grant players the Launch Edition bonuses. They will receive two in-game cosmetic items — the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic.

PlayStation Plus monthly free games for July 2022 are now official. PS Plus subscribers, across all three tiers — PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Deluxe/Premium — will be able to add Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon to their game library from July 5 to August 1. Notably, both the PS4 and PS5 versions of Crash Bandicoot 4, and Arcadegeddon will be available. Meanwhile, Man of Medan is a PS4 only title. Of course, most PS4 games are backwards compatible on the PS5.

Sony announced via an official blog post that the three free PS Plus games for July 2022 include Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon. All three tiers of PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to add these games to their library from July 5 to August 1. This announcement is in line with the recent leak that suggested that these three would be the free games for July 2022.

Gran Turismo 7 released back in March — to heavy backlash from fans owing to microtransactions and grind-based economy — and with Sony India still bundling it, it seems like Sony has more Gran Turismo 7 copies that have remained unsold. Even after the last two PS5 India restocks.

The Last of Us Remake Out September 2 on PS5, PC Version Under Development

The Last of Us Part 1 Remake is releasing on September 2, Sony and Naughty Dog have announced. The game will be launched on PlayStation 5 and a PC version is under development. It will be available in two versions. As per the information available on PlayStation website, the protagonist Joel is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone in a ravaged civilisation, filled with infected and hardened survivors. The Last of Us Remake is teased to come with improved graphics, modernised mechanics, and better controls.

The game was first leaked on PlayStation Direct site, and is now available for pre-order globally. The Last of Us Part 1 Remake Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 (about Rs. 5,450), and there is a Firefly Edition for $99.99 (about Rs. 7,780). This edition gets The Last of Us single-player story and Left Behind prequel chapter for PS5, Limited edition SteelBook display case, The Last of Us: American Dreams Comics #1 – #4 with new cover art, and increased crafting and healing speed skills.

You will also get a bunch of arms including 9mm Reload Speed and Rifle Clip capacity increase upgrades, explosive arrows gameplay modifier as well as six weapon skins, among others.

As far as The Last of Us Part 1 Remake pre-order price in India is concerned, the Standard Edition with complete The Last of Us story (PS5) and Left Behind prequel chapter is available at Rs. 4,999. There is a Digital Deluxe Edition at Rs. 5,599 that comes with Standard Edition bundles along with two skill upgrades, pistol/rifle upgrade, explosive arrows, dither punk filter, speedrun mode, and six weapon skins.

The PlayStation blog mentions that The Last of Us Part 1 Remake is completely rebuilt for using Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 5 engine technology “with advanced visual fidelity, fully integrated DualSense wireless controller features,” among other features. It also teases of modernised gameplay mechanics, improved controls, and “expanded accessibility options.” The game also offers improved environmental storytelling, effects, facial animations, and enhanced combat.

Street Fighter 6 Arriving in 2023; Characters, New Modes Revealed by Capcom

Street Fighter 6 is set to arrive sometime in 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. This announcement was made by Capcom during Sony’s PlayStation State of Play event on Thursday. Capcom is developing this game on the RE Engine, which has been previously used for titles like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and Devil May Cry 5. In addition, the Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer was also released that showcases the unique art style of the new Street Fighter game. The trailer reveals two new game modes and confirms four characters, including an all-new fighter.

Additionally, the PlayStation Blog post reveals Street Fighter 6 will arrive with the classic Arcade Mode, online matches, Training Mode, local versus battles, and more as part of the Fighting Ground along with two new modes — World Tour and Battle Hub. World Tour will allow players to create a custom avatar for a single-player experience with an immersive story. There will also be the Battle Hub, which will serve as a venue for online matches with unique communication and engagement options. Capcom is expected to reveal more details about these modes in the build-up to Street Fighter 6’s release.

The Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer offers glimpses at these game modes. It also confirms that the fighting roster will see the return of Chun-Li, Ryu, and Luke. All of these characters have been redesigned for Street Fighter 6. Jamie, a new fighter, has also been confirmed whose fighting style is based on drunken boxing. The Street Fighter 6 trailer also teased the addition of another new fighter, Kimberly, near the end.

Capcom has introduced a Drive System with Street Fighter 6. Players will have to now manage a Drive Guage during the fight, which will allow them to execute five offensive and defensive techniques — Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Overdrive Art, Drive Rush, and Drive Reversal. Street Fighter 6 will also feature a Modern Control Type aimed at new or rusty players. This control scheme will allow players to pull off complex character moves with ease. For more experienced players, the Classic Control Type will be available too.

The Street Fighter 6 developer is also teaming up with popular figures in the Fight Game Community (FGC) to bring Real-Time Commentary feature to the game. FGC regulars, Vicious and Aru, have been confirmed to lend their voices for this feature.

PS5 India May 13 Restock: How to Pre-Order PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Gran Turismo 7 Bundle

PS5’s May restock is here. Today at 12pm noon, both variants of Sony’s elusive next-gen console — the Rs. 49,990 Blu-ray-equipped PS5, and its Rs. 39,990 disc-less counterpart PS5 Digital Edition — will be up for pre-order in India. Alongside, just as in April, some retailers will also offer a Rs. 54,490 bundle of the Blu-ray PS5 and Gran Turismo 7 that represents a Rs. 499 saving if you were to buy them separately. Gran Turismo 7 released back in March — to heavy backlash from fans owing to microtransactions and grind-based economy — and with Sony India still bundling it, it seems like Sony has more Gran Turismo 7 copies that have remained unsold. Even after last month’s PS5 restock.

The May 13 PlayStation 5 restock is just the 16th time Sony’s flagship console is being made available for pre-order in India, since its launch last February. Its Blu-ray-devoid sibling PS5 Digital Edition has fared even poorer, with this being only the 10th time interested buyers have had the opportunity to pre-order one. Of course, that is far from the only hassle with buying a PlayStation 5 in India. Every single time, the likes of Croma and Games The Shop have shown themselves to be unable to handle the load. Even Amazon has had trouble a few times. Additionally, Croma, Flipkart and Reliance Digital are also known for cancelling PS5 pre-orders due to their own technical challenges.

Curiously, Sony Center website ShopAtSC hasn’t given us an expected shipping date for the May 13 PS5 restock. At the time of writing, its FAQ page — which continued to carry a COVID-19 boilerplate long after delivery restrictions had been removed — hasn’t been updated this time around. Going by earlier estimations, the shipping date for the new PS5 pre-orders should be a week to 10 days from May 13. Whatever it is, all official PS5 online retailers — including Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, GameLoot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales — should be in line with Sony Center. Though at times, we have seen some online retailers ship out their PS5 pre-orders prior to the announced delivery date too.
