Honor X9b Amazon India Microsite Goes Live; Honor Choice Earbuds X5 Launch Teased

Honor X9b is set to launch in India on February 15, months after its initial launch in October 2023 in select global markets. The Indian variant is expected to come with similar features to its global version. A key display feature of the smartphone was recently teased and its Amazon product page was also leaked. However, the Amazon microsite for the Honor 90 5G has now gone live officially. This confirms that the phone will be available for purchase in the country via Amazon. Some key details of the upcoming smartphone are teased on the page alongside the possible launch of Honor Choice Earbuds X5.

The Amazon microsite for the Honor X9b claims that the curved display of the upcoming handset will be “unbreakable.” An earlier teaser of the phone suggested that similar to its global variant, the Indian version of the Honor X9b will come with SGS-certified “360-degree whole-device protection.” It is said to sport “India’s first ultra bounce display” with ‘Airbag’ technology.

Amazon’s product page also teases a big battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, and a slim design for the upcoming Honor X9b. It does not list the exact specifications but hints at another key launch that is likely to occur alongside the smartphone. At the top of the microsite is a banner that shows a big, round silhouette of the rear camera module of the upcoming phone inside which the launch date, i.e. February 15, and the words “unlock the extra” are written.

Upon looking closely, however, we can see the “x” in the word extra to be portrayed by two overlapping earbuds. These are quite possibly the Honor Choice Earbuds X5, which the HonorTech CEO Madhav Sheth had teased previously. This easter egg likely indicates the launch of these TWS earbuds on February 15, confirming a recent report. 

Since the Indian variant of the Honor 9Xb is likely to come with similar specifications as the global variant, the phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It may also get a 6.78-inch 1.5K (1,200 x 2,652 pixels) AMOLED display and run Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2. The phone is also likely to pack a 5,800mAh battery with 35W wired fast charging support. 

For optics, the Honor 9Xb may launch with a 108-megapixel triple rear camera system including a 5-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The front camera is likely to carry a 16-megapixel sensor.

OnePlus 12 Price in India Accidentally Leaked on Amazon Ahead of January 23 Launch

OnePlus 12 will be launched on January 23 in India alongside the OnePlus 12R. Ahead of the formal debut, Amazon India may have accidentally revealed the price of the flagship smartphone. However, the e-commerce giant immediately deleted the pricing, but a tipster has managed to grab a screenshot of the listing. The OnePlus 12 was initially introduced in China. It runs on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and is backed by a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired SuperVOOC charging support.

Tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) spotted the price listing of the OnePlus 12 on Amazon. As per the screenshot posted by the tipster, the price will start from Rs. 69,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. However, the price details of the handset are not there on the Amazon listing of the handset at the time of writing this article.

The OnePlus 12 will be announced in global markets including India at the ‘Smooth Beyond Belief’ event on January 23. The OnePlus 12R will also debut alongside.

The OnePlus 12 was initially launched in China in December last year with an initial price tag of CNY 4,299 (roughly Rs. 50,700) for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. It is available in Pale Green, Rock Black, and White colourways in China.

The Indian variant of the OnePlus 12 is expected to have similar specifications to that of the model launched in China. It runs on Android 14-based ColorOS 14 and has a 6.82-inch quad-HD+ (1,440 x 3,168 pixels) LTPO OLED screen with up to 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. It is powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

The OnePlus 12 has a Hasselblad-tuned triple rear camera unit and a 32-megapixel front camera. It carries up to 1TB of UFS 4 inbuilt storage and houses a 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W SuperVOOC charging 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

iPhone 13 to Be Available Under Rs. 50,000 During Amazon Great Republic Day Sale

Amazon Great Republic Day Sale 2024 will begin over the weekend and the e-commerce platform is set to offer several deals, discounts, and offers for customers. During the sale, customers can purchase several smartphones and other consumer electronics at discounted prices. Launched in 2021, the iPhone 13 sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. It is powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. Apple does not officially reveal the RAM and battery capacities of its smartphones. The smartphone can be updated to iOS 17.2, the latest version of Apple’s operating system.

The phone is equipped with a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It also has a 12-megapixel TrueDepth selfie camera on the front, alongside Apple’s array of sensors that enable support for Face ID. It supports 5G, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth 5 connectivity and has a Lightning port for charging and data transfers. It also has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

PS5 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Bundle Launches in India Tomorrow, Priced at Rs. 49,390

Sony is gearing up to launch the PS5’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III bundle in India. The cross-gen package will be available from November 10 onwards, but unlike in the US, the publisher isn’t selling the new slim version of the console here yet. Players will receive the standard 4K Blu-ray drive-equipped PS5, alongside a voucher code for Activision’s upcoming marquee shooter, at Rs. 49,390. This is part of an ‘introductory offer’ running until November 23, during which the bundle’s price has been slashed by Rs. 10,000 — after which, it will cost Rs. 59,390, which is the base price for any PS5 game bundle.

PlayStation has been ramping up marketing in India recently by offering numerous discounts on the PS5 and bundling it up with on-demand games like God of War Ragnarök, Spider-Man 2, EA Sports FC 24, and even Cricket 24 (to coincide with the ICC World Cup). It’s interesting to note, however, that the Modern Warfare 3 bundle available in the US is reportedly including the game worth $70 (about Rs. 5,830) for free with the PS5 Slim variant at a gross total of $499.99 (about Rs. 41,640). Meanwhile, players in India get treated to the same old version of PS5, where technically speaking, the game isn’t included for free in the bundle.

You see, a PS5 disc variant costs Rs. 54,990 in India, while the upcoming Call of Duty game is priced at Rs. 5,599 on the PlayStation store — totalling Rs. 60,589. Sure, the limited-time sale makes it way cheaper — at Rs. 49,390 — but once it’s over, you’re paying the full price. As usual, it will be available to buy from the usual Indian retailers like Amazon, Chroma, Flipkart, GamestheShop, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC, and Vijay Sales.

For now, it’s unclear when the slimmer version of the PS5 will arrive in India and if so, whether it will be priced similar to the current version. Sony previously suggested that once it manages to sell off the older models, only the new slim ones will be made available to purchase. It’s simply 30 percent smaller than the original version and comes with a detachable disc drive, which requires an internet connection to register/ bind it to the console. Hardware is all around the same, but the internal storage has been upgraded from an 825GB to a 1TB SSD. A digital PS5 slim variant is also available at $449.99 (about Rs. 37,400), albeit it’s more of a marketing gimmick since one can buy the Blu-ray drive separately and install it themselves.

Elsewhere, Sony has delayed half the total live service games it had planned to launch by March 2026 — down from 12 to six titles. During an earnings call, Sony PlayStation COO Hiroki Totoki said (via VGC), “We are reviewing this… we are trying as much as possible to ensure [that these games] are enjoyed and liked by gamers for a long time. [Out of] the 12 titles, six titles will be released by FY25 — that’s our current plan.” He further added that the remaining six will be evaluated further to see their potential — possibly another meeting with Destiny 2 maker Bungie to review the live service portfolio. It’s also worth mentioning that The Last of Us multiplayer game, which was allegedly put ‘on ice,’ is still in active development — as confirmed by its director Vinit Agarwal.

Both the PS5 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 bundle and the game itself launch November 10.

Amazon India Opens First-Ever Floating IHS Store on Dal Lake in Srinagar

Amazon India on Thursday announced its first-ever floating store on Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir, as part of its last-mile delivery programme “I Have Space”. 

Murtaza Khan Kashi, owner of houseboat Selec Town, will deliver packages every day to customers at the doorstep of their houseboats as part of the onboarding.

Amazon Logistics, India, Director Karuna Shankar Pande said this will provide faster and reliable deliveries to customers across Srinagar, opportunities for small businesses and strengthen Amazon’s delivery network.

Launched in 2015, the ‘I Have Space’ programme has 28,000 neighbourhood and kirana partners in about 420 towns and cities in India. It partners with local stores and small businesses for delivering products within a 2 to 4 kilometres radius.

Amazon’s flagship programme ‘I Have Space’ facilitates the delivery of parcels and couriers. Once enrolled, the IHS partner receives packages on store location, which they need to deliver to the customer. The IHS partner receives payment from Amazon, based on the number of packages delivered. 

Amazon claims to have more than 28,000 IHS partners on over 350 cities across India. It doesn’t require any investments from the local partners, and anyone can be part of the programme. All they need to do is collect and deliver parcels to nearby locations. On an average, an Amazon IHS store partners can deliver between 20 and 30 packages a day, while earning a fixed amount per delivery in return.

PS5 India November 11 Restock: How to Pre-Order PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital Edition Horizon Forbidden West Bundles

PS5’s November restock, the first since the recent price hike, is here. Today at 12pm noon, both variants of Sony’s elusive next-gen console — the Rs. 54,990 4K Blu-ray-equipped PS5, and its Rs. 44,990 disc-less counterpart PS5 Digital Edition — will be up for pre-order in India. Except just like in August, they will only be offered in a bundle with Horizon Forbidden West, the PlayStation-exclusive action RPG that was released back in February. Weirdly, there’s no sign of a God of War Ragnarök bundle — that is being offered in other parts of the world — even as Sony India went all out on the marketing of the new PlayStation-exclusive action-adventure game released this week on both PS4 and PS5.

Owing to the rise of PS5’s price in India, the PS5 Horizon Forbidden West bundle is similarly impacted. The HFW bundle with the 4K Blu-ray-equipped PS5 has shot up by Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 58,990, while the Digital Edition HFW bundle is now priced at Rs. 48,490, an increase of Rs. 4,500 over August prices. At this point unfortunately, this isn’t really a saving — you’re paying more if anything. Horizon Forbidden West bundle was discounted to Rs. 1,499 during Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sale, and Rs. 2,839 during a PlayStation Store sale in August and September. (Do note that the PS4 version can be upgraded for free to the PS5 variant.)

Still, those who haven’t managed to get their hands on a PS5 yet may not care. If you are trying to buy PlayStation 5 and PS5 Digital Edition Horizon Forbidden West bundles online, you can do that on Amazon, Croma, e2z Store, Flipkart, Game Loot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, Sony Center, and Vijay Sales. You can also check out game stores near you. Those tend to be a better shot at times. Though as has been the case for over a year now, the big concern is whether you can actually manage to buy one, given Sony India’s continued PS5 inventory struggles. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X — the PS5’s biggest rival — is doing much better now in that regard, though that also says a lot about respective demand.

The November 11 PlayStation 5 restock is the 21st time Sony’s flagship console is being made available for pre-order in India, since its launch last February. Its Blu-ray-devoid sibling PS5 Digital Edition has fared even poorer, with this being only the 15th time interested buyers have had the opportunity to pre-order one. Of course, that is far from the only hassle with buying a PlayStation 5 in India. Every single time, the likes of Croma and Games The Shop have shown themselves to be unable to handle the load. Even Amazon has had trouble a few times. Additionally, Croma, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital are also known for cancelling PS5 pre-orders due to their own technical challenges.

And while there have been no restrictions on deliveries for a while now, Sony Center website ShopAtSC continues with its COVID-19 boilerplate: “We intend to deliver your allocated stocks around [25th November 2022] and onwards — however please expect a delay in our delivery services which might get impacted due to regulations imposed by lockdown/ curfew in your locations.” Expect the rest of the official PS5 online retailers — Amazon, Croma, e2z Store, Flipkart, GameLoot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales — to be in line with Sony Center’s estimates. Though at times, we have seen some online retailers ship out their PS5 pre-orders prior to the announced delivery date.

Sony India’s retail shops Sony Center have their own website through which you can buy the PlayStation 5. ShopAtSC offers free home delivery from the nearest Sony Center, but you can also choose to pick up from the nearest store once the first orders are shipped.

You will need an account to buy the PS5 from ShopAtSC. Create one in advance to speed up checkout. If you previously bought a PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition, you won’t be able to buy another from the same account, ShopAtSC says. The site does have a notify me button in case you want to set that up.

Amazon Great Indian Festival 2022 Records Highest Growth in Festive Season, Smartphone Sale Dominates

E-commerce platform Amazon India has recorded the highest growth in the festive season sale, with 80 percent of the buyers coming from Tier 2 and beyond towns.

Mobiles and accessories saw strong double-digit growth this season as compared to Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF) 2021 and 5 times higher when compared to average business days, with 80 percent of customers coming from Tier 2 and 3 cities.

While the company did not disclose details of overall sales that it registered during AGIF 2022, Amazon India Vice President Manish Tiwary said “it has been the best-ever festival sale” for the company.

Amazon claims to have seen participation from 11 lakh sellers, which includes 2 lakh local stores.

“More than 35,000 sellers saw their highest-ever single-day sales. Over 650 sellers became crorepatis (over Rs. 1 crore sales) and 23,000 sellers became lakhpatis (over Rs. 1 lakh sales),” Tiwary said.

Mobile phone sales dominated online festive sales and Amazon too recorded traction for 5G smartphones.

The e-commerce platform saw a strong uptake in the mid-range price segment with around 80 percent sold in sub-Rs. 15,000 category.

“More than 10 lakhs customers bought smartphones for the first time on Amazon. Customers preferred brands were Xiaomi, Samsung (M Series), Realme, iQOO, OnePlus and Apple,” Amazon said in the festive season sales report.

Over 1.5 million new customers shopped from Amazon Fashion and Beauty, with more than 85 percent from Tier 2 cities and beyond, the report said.

Most of the buyers used credit cards for purchasing products on the platform.

“Overall credit card (including CBCC and EMI) has the highest transaction share (47 percent) — so overall credit card was the most preferred option for shopping on Amazon during GIF, with every 1 in 2 transactions on a credit card,” Tiwary said.

Every 8 out of 10 shoppers had access to credit through products like Amazon Pay Later, debit card EMI, credit card EMI, NBFC EMI and others. 

“1 out 4 purchases were made on EMI and 3 out of 4 EMI purchases were on No cost EMI. Amazon Pay Later registrations increased by 4 times this festive season versus the average business day; with 6.5 lakh registrations during GIF 2022, Amazon Pay Later crossed the milestone of 6 million registrations,” the report said.

PS5’s October restock is here. Today at 12pm noon, both variants of Sony’s elusive next-gen console — the Rs. 49,990 Blu-ray-equipped PS5, and its Rs. 39,990 disc-less counterpart PS5 Digital Edition — will be up for pre-order in India. No bundles, just like in September. The October 12 PlayStation 5 restock is just the 20th time Sony’s flagship console is being made available for pre-order in India, since its launch 21 months ago last February. Its Blu-ray-devoid sibling PS5 Digital Edition has fared even poorly, with this being only the 14th time interested buyers have had the opportunity to pre-order one. Of course, that is far from the only hassle with buying a PlayStation 5 in India. Every single time, the likes of Croma and Games The Shop have shown themselves to be unable to handle the load. Even Amazon has had trouble a few times. Additionally, Croma, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital are also known for cancelling PS5 pre-orders due to their own technical challenges.
