Nothing to Soon Integrate ChatGPT With Its Entire Audio Lineup and CMF Earphones

Nothing is expanding ChatGPT integration to its entire audio device lineup as well as all the earphones launched under its CMF brand. The London-based smartphone brand launched the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A last month which were the first wireless earphones from the brand to get a native integration of OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. Users could trigger the chatbot by just pinching the stem of the device. Now, this functionality is being expanded to all the earphones by the brand.

The announcement came from the official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle of Nothing, which also mentioned the list of earphones that will be getting the feature. As per the company, Ear 1, Ear Stick, Ear 2, CMF Buds, CMF Neckband Pro, and CMF Buds Pro will also receive ChatGPT integration. Interestingly, this list also includes the Ear 1, the first wireless earphones by the company.

However, there are a couple of caveats before users can access ChatGPT directly through their earphones. First, there is a double opt-in process. Nothing co-founder and CEO Carl Pei explained in a separate post that users will have to first download the ChatGPT app on the smartphone, and then configure the trigger to activate the chatbot via the Nothing X app. Further, the integration will only work when the earphones are paired with Nothing’s smartphones. However, once these conditions are met, users can easily access the AI model without requiring the phone.

The ChatGPT integration allows users to ask a verbal query to the chatbot and get the response directly via the earphones. This integration is expected to be improved now that OpenAI has unveiled the GPT-4o model which offers real-time verbal conversations and emotive voices. Further, with real-time video processing, the user can also show the chatbot something and get an instant response about it. These features are slowly being rolled out by the AI firm.

While the list does not include the Nothing Ear and Ear A earphones, they already have the ChatGPT integration. Launched in April, the earphones are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers, support up to 45dB ANC, and feature a transparency mode. Both the earphones sport an in-ear detection feature as well as allow Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair.

Apple’s Siri Assistant Could Get a Massive AI-Charged Revamp at WWDC 2024: Report

Apple could introduce the biggest revamp to its native virtual assistant Siri since its launch at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. The Cupertino-based tech giant is rumoured to unveil its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and introduce new features for its devices. As per a new report, the central piece of this move will be making Siri smarter and more efficient. The iPhone maker is expected to use either in-house AI models or licence them from a third-party source to improve Siri’s capabilities.

According to a report by the New York Times, top executives at Apple made the decision last year that its virtual assistant needs a major revamp to stay relevant. The realisation came as AI chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT showcased the diverse range of tasks they can complete. The inclusion of the contextual understanding of language, which allowed users to make vague queries and still get the right response, was also considered a significant upgrade. Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, the report highlighted that Apple is working on adding AI capabilities to Siri.

The report highlighted that improving Siri has become a “tent pole project” at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters, which refers to a “once-in-a-decade” initiative in the company. It is said that the company is now gearing up to showcase the new Siri at the WWDC 2024 event on June 10. Two focus areas to improve Siri include conversational language and versatility of tasks, the report mentioned. However, it is believed that the tech giant does not want its virtual assistant to turn into another AI-powered chatbot.

It is believed that instead of turning Siri into a generalist chatbot capable of generating poetry and essays, its output will be controlled and limited to the tasks it already does, but with significant improvements. Users might be able to ask follow-up questions without repeating all the information, something Siri is not capable of currently. It might also be able to perform more tasks across the device. These details are not known at present.

However, it is said that Apple intends to keep Siri private and run it entirely on-device. This means the iPhone maker will be limited to its on-device neural processing unit (NPU) to power the computing and minimise the latency issues. This is interesting given an earlier report claimed that Apple is also working on building AI chips for its data centres.

The NY Times report claims Apple’s decision to not rely on cloud servers comes from cost-effectiveness. Highlighting an example, it said OpenAI is forced to spend 12 cents (roughly Rs. 16) for every 1,000 words generated by ChatGPT due to cloud computing costs. Apple might be able to circumvent this expense by keeping the feature within the device.

Dyson WashG1 Wet Floor Cleaner Unveiled With Dual Microfiber Rollers

Dyson has launched the WashG1 wet floor cleaner as the company’s first dedicated mop. The new device comes with cleaning and mopping capabilities and can pick up wet and dry debris in one go from hard floors. The cordless Dyson WashG1 has dual microfiber rollers that apply the water and counter-rotate removing stains and dirt from hard floors. Each roller packs motors that spin in opposite directions to clean in both directions. The wet floor cleaner can perform a self-clean after each use.

India price details of Dyson WashG1 wet floor cleaner have not been announced yet. It is confirmed to be available soon in the country. In Australia, the device is listed for sale with a price tag of AUD 999 (roughly Rs. 83,000)

Dyson WashG1 specifications, features

Dyson WashG1 uses hydration, absorption, and extraction methods to pick up wet and dry debris in a single sweep. It is claimed to clean up to a 290 square meter area with a one-litre clean-water tank. The device features two individually powered microfiber rollers with 64,800 filaments per square centimetre. The rollers, placed at the front and back of the machine, counter-rotate whilst a pulse-modulated pump distributes water across 26 precisely positioned hydration points, along the full width of each roller. The mop uses the company’s latest separation technology to divide wet and dry debris at the source.

The Dyson WashG1 has been designed with in-use hydration control and users can select it based on the type of debris, flooring and personal preference. There are low, medium, and high hydration modes. Each motor will spin at a consistent speed following the hydration mode selected. Each mode also features an additional three sensitivity settings and a separate boost mode button to purge each roller with the maximum amount of hydration when pressed, to remove stubborn dirt and dried-on stains.

Dirty water is extracted from the rollers of Dyson WashG1 by extraction plates. It includes a secondary nylon-bristled inner brush to scrape out dirt from the microfibre rollers and flick it straight into a removable debris tray. The tray designed with 500-micron mesh can separate dirty water from the large debris. With the help of an extraction pump, dirty water is collected in a 0.8-litre capacity dirty water tank with openings to allow for easy maintenance and cleaning.

Dyson WashG1 also comes with a self-cleaning mode that uses clean water to flush out the system and clean the brushes in preparation for the next clean in 140 seconds.

Multi-Chain Memecoin ‘Dogeverse’ Raises Over $15 Million in ICO Ahead of Exchange Listing: Details

Dogeverse, the latest entrant into the memecoin market, has managed to raise $15 million in its Initial Coin Offering (ICO). According to a report from AMB Crypto, the new multi-chain memecoin reached the milestone Monday. The $DOGEVERSE token has taken the crypto market by storm and is set to be launched on six different blockchains. Dogeverse claims to be the first Doge Meme token built on a multi-chain network.

As per Dogeverse’s website, a single Dogeverse token is priced at $0.00031 in its ICO stage. The memecoin, however, is in the final phase of its presale and it will be soon listed on decentralised crypto exchanges to meet investor demand, the AMB Crypto report said.

The crypto sector has over 2.4 million tokens in circulation, with more entering the ecosystem daily. The memecoin category, which comprises cryptocurrencies inspired by trending memes, was primarily made popular by Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, and has swelled into a category worth $51 billion (roughly Rs. 4,25,799 crore), as reflected by CoinGecko this month. While there are several popular memecoins already circulating in the market, Dogeverse comes to compete with a special functionality.

As mentioned, Dogeverse is a multi-chain memecoin and lives on multiple blockchains rather than being supported on just one like traditional cryptocurrencies. Dogeverse will exist on six blockchains — Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Solana, Base, and Avalanche. According to its official website, the $DOGEVERSE token is minted on Ethereum, but can be claimed, stored and traded on the six supported blockchains using Wormhole and Portal Bridge technology.

Dogeverse’s ICO is one of the most successful ones of 2024 so far. Additionally, over 16,000 followers have joined the crypto’s X page since the profile was created just a month ago in April. With the interest the new memecoin has managed to generate in a short duration, the crypto community is now speculating if Dogeverse could rival Dogecoin.

The ICO window for the memecoin will close in the coming days and the coin could soon find its way to crypto exchanges.

To take part in Dogeverse’s presale, interested crypto buyers can connect their crypto wallets to the presale widget listed on the token’s website and use ETH, BNB, MATIC, AVAX, SOL or USDT to reserve $DOGEVERSE tokens, as per the official website. “Once you’ve completed your presale purchase, you’ll be able to use the same wallet to claim your tokens before the first DEX listing. Claim and listing dates will be announced on our social media accounts,” the website said.

OpenAI GPT-4o With Real-Time Responses and Video Interaction Announced, GPT-4 Features Now Available for Free

OpenAI held its much-anticipated Spring Update event on Monday where it announced a new desktop app for ChatGPT, minor user interface changes to ChatGPT’s web client, and a new flagship-level artificial intelligence (AI) model dubbed GPT-4o. The event was streamed online on YouTube and was held in front of a small live audience. During the event, the AI firm also announced that all the GPT-4 features, which were so far available only to premium users, will now be available to everyone for free.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT desktop app and interface refresh

Mira Murati, the Chief Technical Officer of OpenAI, kickstarted the event and launched the new ChatGPT desktop app, which now comes with computer vision and can look at the user’s screen. Users will be able to turn this feature on and off, and the AI will analyse and assist with whatever is shown. The CTO also revealed that the ChatGPT’s web version is getting a minor interface refresh. The new UI comes with a minimalist appearance and users will see suggestion cards when entering the website. The icons are also smaller and hide the entire side panel, making a larger portion of the screen available for conversations. Notably, ChatGPT can now also access web browser and provide ral-time search results.

GPT-4o features

The main attraction of the OpenAI event was the company’s newest flagship-grade AI model called GPT-4o, where the ‘o’ stands for omni-model. Murati highlights that the new chatbot is twice as fast, 50 percent cheaper, and has five times higher rate limits compared to the GPT-4 Turbo model.

GPT-4o also offers significant improvements in the latency of responses and can generate real-time responses even in speech mode. In a live demo of the AI model, OpenAI showcased that it can converse in real time and react to the user. GPT-4o-powered ChatGPT can now also be interrupted to answer a different question, which was impossible earlier. However, the biggest enhancement in the unveiled model is the inclusion of emotive voices.

Now, when ChatGPT speaks, its responses contain various voice modulations, making it sound more human and less robotic. A demo showed that the AI can also pick up on human emotions in speech and react to them. For instance, if a user speaks in a panicking voice, it will speak in a concerned voice.

Improvements have also been made to its computer vision, and based on the live demos, it can now process and respond to live video feeds from the device’s camera. It can see a user solve a mathematical equation and offer step-by-step guidance. It can also correct the user in real time if he makes a mistake. Similarly, it can now process large coding data and instantaneously analyse it and share suggestions to improve it. Finally, users can now open the camera and speak with their faces visible, and the AI can detect their emotions.

Finally, another live demo highlighted that the ChatGPT, powered by the latest AI model, can also perform live voice translations and speak in multiple languages in quick succession. While OpenAI did not mention the subscription price for access to the GPT-4o model, it highlighted that it will be rolled out in the coming weeks and available as an API.

GPT-4 is now available for free

Apart from all the new launches, OpenAI has also made the GPT-4 AI model, including its features, available for free. People using the free tier of the platform will be able to access features such as GPTs (mini chatbots designed for specific use cases), GPT Store, the Memory feature through which the AI can remember the user and specific information relating to them for future conversations, and its advanced data analytics without paying anything.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Tipped to Feature a Triple Rear Camera Setup

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 200-megapixel quad rear camera setup was launched in January. Now, an early leak reveals that next year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra will get a major camera overhaul. Samsung is said to be testing the next year’s flagship with three rear cameras instead of four. The upcoming model could lack a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom that is present on the current phone. It is likely to retain the 200-megapixel primary sensor.

Tipster Sperandio4Tech (@ISAQUES81) on X claimed that Samsung is testing the Galaxy S25 Ultra with three rear cameras — a main sensor, an ultra-wide unit, and a periscope zoom setup. The smartphone major has allegedly dropped the 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto sensor from next year’s flagship. This would be a major hardware change from its predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Ultra gets a quad rear camera setup, headlined by a 200-megapixel wide camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra prototype is said to have the same 200-megapixel main camera, but its ability to capture light could be improved. It is tipped to have the same 12-megapixel ultrawide lens and it is not subject to changes in this prototyping stage. The periscope camera is being tested with a large sensor and variable zoom. Samsung is testing the periscope camera with two fixed focal lengths, the first between 4x and 5x zoom, and the second between 6x and 7x zoom.

Since this is a prototype we are talking about, it is recommended to treat this rumour with a pinch of salt. A few leaks have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will get minor changes over its predecessor.

PUBG to Get 120 FPS Support on Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 Lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 5

Samsung has confirmed that several of its premium handsets will support the popular mobile game PUBG at a higher frame rate than before. The battle royale game published by Krafton is available to smartphone users on both Android and iOS devices. Up until recently, the game supported frame rate of up to 90fps (frames per second). With the latest update, the game can be accessed at a higher frame rate. Samsung has announced the list of smartphones that will support the higher frame rate gameplay.

In a community post, a Samsung official moderator in charge of game optimisation confirmed that several of its handsets will support PUBG at 120fps. The list includes the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series of phones, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 book-style foldable smartphone.

Notably, with the latest v3.2 update, PUBG Mobile brings several updates like new items, new stages, new mechanics and new modes including support for a 120fps frame rate. A higher frame rate ensures smoother gameplay, whereas lower frame rates show actions and movements within games with jagged interruptions.

The Samsung community post explained that the optimisations will be included in the latest Game Optimisation Service (GOS) and Game Booster applications that come pre-installed in most Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

The post, however, did not clarify if the support will later extend to other Samsung models. For now, the optimisations are supported in the following models – Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy Watch 6 series at its first Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. We discuss the company’s new devices and more on the latest episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast.
