Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL Leak in Live Images; Specifications Tipped

Google usually release its Pixel flagships in October every year. While there’s still plenty of time for the phone’s to launch, the Pixel 9 series has leaked via live images offering a glimpse at their design. The hands-on images of the rumoured Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL show rounded corners and pill-shaped camera bars on the rear. The Pixel 9 series is set to get AMOLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 9 is said to come in a 12GB + 128GB RAM and storage configuration, while the Pro models could be available in a 16GB+128GB configuration. The Pixel 9 series is said to include four models.

Russian website Rozetked has shared alleged live images and specifications of Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are shown to have similar size. The Pro variants appear to have a matte back and glossy frame, while the Pixel 9 has a glossy back and matte frame. The leak also includes a few comparison shots with previous Pixel handsets and iPhone 15 models.

As per the leak, the Pixel 9 will be launched in 12GB + 128GB RAM and storage configuration, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL could be available in a 16GB + 128GB configuration. The vanilla model is said to get a 6.24-inch display while the Pro and XL models could feature 6.24-inch and 6.73-inch screens, respectively. All three models are expected to have AMOLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate and are said to be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 SoC.

The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are said to be identical in size, but the former could come with larger bezels. They are tipped to feature three 50-megapixel rear cameras and support ultra-wideband technology. The Pixel 9, on the other hand, might get a dual rear camera setup.

Additionally, the publication claims that this year the Pixel series will include four models — Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Fold.

Google is expected to announce the Pixel 9 series in October. The handset could run on Android 15.

Google Pixel 9 Design Leaked in New Renders; Could Debut Alongside Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL

Google usually unveils two flagship phones in October every year. This year, the tech giant might opt for a new smartphone launch strategy by introducing three models — Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9. A prominent tipster now claims that the CAD-based renders that surfaced online earlier this year were of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The tipster has now leaked the Pixel 9 design in new renders. The images suggest a dual rear camera setup on the Pixel 9 and a smaller screen.

CAD-based renders of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro first emerged in January this year. Now, tipster Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks), in association with 91Mobiles, claims that the renders published earlier were of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The publication has now shared alleged CAD images of the vanilla Pixel 9.

The newly leaked renders suggest a compact design for the Pixel 9 with a thick rear camera module. It seems to have rounded corners with a flat display and flat frames. It will reportedly get a 6.03-inch display. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro is said to get a 6.1-inch display and the Pixel 9 XL’s could offer a 6.5-inch screen. The screen appears to have a centrally located hole punch cutout for a selfie shooter. The phone is seen with a dual rear camera unit. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are expected to offer a triple rear camera setup.

Further, the new report states that the Pixel 9 will measure around 152.8×71.9×8.5mm, and 12mm with the rear camera bump.

Google’s Pixel 8 series with the vanilla Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro was launched in October last year at the ‘Made by Google’ event. Therefore, the company is expected to announce the Pixel 9 phones around the same time this year. The upcoming handsets could run on Android 15 and use the company’s in-house Tensor G4 SoC.

Google’s Tensor G4 SoC to Adopt FOWLP Technology to Improve Heat Management, Power Efficiency: Report

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were launched in October last year with a Tensor G3 chipset and several AI-based features. A few short months after their release, we are seeing multiple leaks about the next-generation Pixel phones on the Web. Google’s next-generation SoC — Tensor G4 — is anticipated to power the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. The chipset would be reportedly based on Samsung’s latest 4nm process and might offer improved power efficiency and heat management.

As per a report by Korean media outlet FNN, Google will apply Samsung Electronics’ foundry 4-nano microprocessing to the Tensor G4 chipset that will be installed in the upcoming Pixel 9 series. The Tensor G4 would reportedly use an advanced packing method called the FOWLP (Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging). This type of packaging is said to improve the heat generation of semiconductors and increase power efficiency and performance. This would offer notable improvements over last year’s Tensor G3 SoC.

Further, the report states that Samsung used the 4nm method in the Exynos 2400 chipsets of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models. The report claims that the handsets were well-received in the select markets they were launched.

The Tensor G4 SoC was earlier tipped to come with minor performance upgrades over the Tensor G3 SoC.

In India, the Pixel 8 starts at Rs. 75,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model, while the Pixel 8 Pro starts at Rs. 1,06,999 for the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage model.

Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro run on Android 14. The vanilla variant sports a 6.2-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro has a 6.7-inch OLED display with Quad-HD (1,344×2,992 pixels) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. They run on Google’s Tensor G3 chipset and the Titan M2 security chip.

The Pixel 8 has a dual rear camera unit, led by a 50-megapixel Samsung GN2 sensor, while the Pixel 8 Pro boasts a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor. Both models carry a 10.5-megapixel front camera. The Pixel 8 houses a 4,575mAh battery with support for 27W wired charging, whereas the Pixel 8 Pro is backed by a 5,050mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging.

Google Phone Spotted on Geekbench; Tipped to be Google Pixel 9 Series Model With Tensor G4 SoC

Google Pixel 9 series is expected to launch as the successor to the Pixel 8 lineup, which launched in October 2023 with a base Pixel 8 and a Pixel 8 Pro model. The purported series is expected to launch with three new models, including a vanilla and a Pro model. The third model has not yet been confirmed but may have been spotted online. A new Google handset recently surfaced on a benchmarking website, and it is expected to be the purported third Pixel 9 model.

A MySmartPrice report spotted a smartphone named Google Tokay on the Geekbench 5 database. As per the listing, the handset scored 1082 points on the single-core test and 3121 points on the multi-core test. However, the report also adds that since the scores are significantly lower than those of the Pixel 8 models, the legitimacy of these test results should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The listing shows the Google Tokay model with an octa-core chipset. Four cores seemed to have clocked at 1.95GHz, three at 2.60GHz, and one at 3.10GHz. The report suggests it could be the Tensor G4 chipset. It is also seen with a Mali G715 GPU and 8GB of RAM. The phone is also seen with an Android 14 OS.

The upcoming Google Pixel lineup is tipped to get a base Pixel 9 model codenamed ‘komodo’ and a Pixel 9 Pro model codenamed ‘caiman.’ A third model is also rumoured, but little is known about it. The report suggests that this could be the third Pixel 9 series model.

Previously, the Google Pixel 9 leaked images, and Pixel 9 Pro renders surfaced online. They are seen with flat sides, unlike the preceding model and similar to the design of the iPhone 15 series. The models appear with a more compact camera island with a triple rear camera unit.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy Watch 6 series at its first Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. We discuss the company’s new devices and more on the latest episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Google Reportedly Working on Pixie, a Pixel-Exclusive AI Assistant Said to Launch With Pixel 9 Series

Google unveiled the Pixel 8 series of smartphones in October this year and it is likely to be followed by the Pixel 9 lineup in 2024. Although the expected launch of the next Pixel series is several months away, few rumoured details of the handsets have surfaced online including processor and charging features. Now, a report claims that the Mountain View, California-based tech giant may be working on a new Pixel-exclusive Artificial Intelligence assistant, that may arrive with the Pixel 9 series.

According to a report by The Information (via MySmartPrice), Google is working on a Pixel-exclusive AI assistant called Pixie. The report claims that the new AI assistant is expected to perform all the functions of the current Google Assistant and more. The assistant will likely be baked into the Google Pixel 9 series in 2024. It is important to note that ‘Pixie’ may be an internal codename and vary from its final name.

The report also claims that Pixie would integrate data from several Google products and services, such as Gmail and Maps, to provide more personalised assistance to users. It is said to be able to perform sophisticated and multimodal activities such as directing someone to the nearest store where they can purchase a product they have photographed. The rumoured AI assistant is tipped to be powered by Gemini Nano.

Google intends to expand Pixie beyond the upcoming flagship Pixel 9 series to lower-end phones as well as other devices such as wearables, according to the report. It is unclear whether the AI assistant will be available for existing smartphones or if it will just be available for future products.

An earlier report suggested that the Pixel 9 phones are likely to be powered by Tensor G4 SoCs, which have been tipped to carry the codename “Zuma Pro.” Notably, the Tensor G3 chipsets that power the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have the codename “Zuma.” The Google Pixel 9 series is also expected to be among the first Android phones to adopt Qi2 wireless charging technology.
