Dyson Zone Air-Purifying Headphones With ANC, Up to 50-Hour Battery Life Launched in India

Dyson Zone headphones were launched in India on Wednesday (October 4) as the first addition to the company’s audio portfolio. The new over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones feature metal grilles and a removable face visor that pumps purified air to the wearer’s mouth and nose using micro compressors and filters inside the earcups. The Dyson Zone headphones feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and are compatible with the MyDyson app that lets users control the device from their mobile phones. They include 40mm drivers and are claimed to deliver up to 50 hours of playback time with the ANC feature switched on. The Dyson Zone headphones were launched in select markets outside India in April this year.

Dyson Zone price in India, availability

The price of the Dyson Zone is set at Rs. 59,900 in India. The Zone Absolute + variant with an extra filter and multiple port charger costs Rs. 64,900. They will be available for purchase via the company website starting today.

Dyson Zone specifications

As mentioned, the Dyson Zone headphones feature active noise cancellation (ANC) that reduces background and surrounding noises. The audio device features eight ANC microphones that are claimed to monitor surrounding noise 3,84,000 times a second. They also pack two additional microphones for telephony and transparency systems. The over-the-ear wireless headphones come with Bluetooth connectivity. The headphones are powered by 40mm neodymium speaker drivers with 16 Ohm impedance.

The Dyson Zone headphones feature three ANC modes — Isolation, Conversation, and Transparency. The Isolation mode is the highest level of ANC to deliver a rich audio experience. The Conversation mode automatically activates when the wearer dips the visor, while the Transparency mode enables awareness of the surroundings by boosting audio frequencies. The wireless earphones have an ergonomic design with earpads for ensuring comfort during long use.

Besides audio features, the latest device ensures purified airflow to the wearer’s nose and mouth to help them breathe more comfortably. The earcups of the Dyson Zone headphones pack separate air purifiers, and they house two motors that deliver two streams of purified air. The motors have four air purification modes — low, medium, high, and auto — designed for different exertion levels. They come with a removable face visor, and the company claims that Dyson’s filtration system removes city fumes and gases, including nitrogen dioxide, viruses and 99 percent of ultrafine pollutants.

Dyson Zone headphones can be paired with the MyDyson app on iOS and Android smartphones, and the app will display details about the air quality in the area and notify users when the filter needs replacing. Users can also set their listening preferences and control the device through the paired app.

The new headphones from Dyson are said to deliver up to 50 hours of playtime with ANC. With air purification enabled and the ANC feature switched on, they are claimed to last up to four hours. The headphones offer auto-on/off sensors that automatically put the device into a low-power mode when not in use.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Global Launch Timings Revealed: Details

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is prepping to release this week, and before that, we’ve received global launch timings for the same. Ubisoft tweeted an infographic listing different timezones that point toward a staggered release — meaning the game unlocks at different times across the world. On console, the ninth-century Baghdad-set title goes live at midnight local time on October 5, which means the more impatient players can try changing their system’s location to New Zealand to try and get in early. So far, the release schedule is straightforward, with preloading already live across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. However, the PC unlock is a tad confusing, with some regions getting a headstart by as much as a day.

India isn’t mentioned in the infographic, but we can assume the PC version will launch sometime after October 5 at midnight. We’ve got Abu Dhabi’s unlock time for reference, which stands at 3 am GST, aligning with 4:30 am IST in India. Bear in mind that the PC port is only accessible via the Ubisoft Connect app and Epic Games Store, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage launching on the latter platform at 4 pm UTC on October 5, which translates to 9:30 pm in India.

PC players in Los Angeles, US, can start playing on October 4 at 10 pm PDT, while those on the East Coast of New York City begin their journey on October 5 at 1 am EDT. Montreal, Canada, follows the same timezone as the latter, whereas players in London can access it on October 5 at 12 am BST — in tandem with their console release. Meanwhile, Tokyo, Japan’s PC launch is set for October 4 at 10 pm JST and Sydney, Australia, is among the first regions to jump in on October 5 at 12 am AEDT. Last month, Ubisoft revealed system requirements for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, showing that running the game at Ultra settings does not require the latest AMD 7000 or Nvidia’s 40 series cards. At the time, Intel was confirmed as the official partner for the game, which itself was optimised for its Arc series graphics cards, a brand of GPUs that isn’t popular in the PC gaming community. After dabbling in the open-world RPG field for a bit, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is taking a back-to-basics approach, with a tighter scope and a focus on crafty stealth assassinations, charting the rise of Basim Ibn Ishaq, from a mere thief to a feared killer.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out October 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. An Apple iOS release is also planned for early 2024.

Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2 Prices Leaked Again Ahead of Launch Later Today

Google Pixel 8 series — comprising the vanilla Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro —is all set to go official alongside the Pixel Watch 2 at the ‘Made by Google’ event later today. Just hours before the formal launch, the price details of the two handsets and the wearable have been leaked online again. The Pixel 8 family could come with a notable price hike over its predecessors — Pixel 7 series. The vanilla model is expected to come in 128GB and 256GB storage options, while the Pro model is said to pack up to 512GB onboard storage. Pricing of the Pixel Watch 2 is expected to remain unchanged from the original Pixel Watch.

Tipster Arsene Lupin (@MysteryLupin) has shared the alleged US pricing of the Google Pixel 8 series and Pixel Watch 2 on X (formerly Twitter). As per the leak, the vanilla Pixel 8 will cost $699 (roughly Rs. 58,400) for the 128GB storage variant and $759 (roughly Rs. 63,400) for the 256GB storage model. The Pixel 8 Pro, in contrast, is said to start at $999 (roughly Rs. 83,000) for the 128GB storage model and costs $1,059 (roughly Rs. 88,000) for the 256GB storage variant. The top-end model with 512GB storage could be priced at $1,179 (roughly Rs. 98,000).

If this leak turns out to be accurate, this would be a price hike of almost $100 (roughly Rs. 8,000) over last year’s Pixel 7. The latter debuted in October last year with a price tag of $599 (roughly Rs. 49,400), and Pixel 7 Pro retails for $899 (roughly Rs)

The Pixel Watch 2, on the other hand, is tipped to be priced at $349 (roughly Rs. 28,700) for the Wi-Fi variant and $399 (roughly Rs. 32,800) for the LTE version. The first Pixel Watch debuted last year with similar price tags.

Google’s ‘Made by Google’ event will begin today later in New York at 10:00 am local time (7:30 pm IST).

Over the past months, several leaks have revealed quite a lot about Pixel 8 series phones. They are expected to come with Android 14. The Pixel 8 is expected to feature a 6.17-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the pro model is said to get a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED screen with QHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. They could pack a Tensor G3 SoC under the hood.

Flipkart and Amazon, two of India’s biggest e-commerce sites, are ready to start with the biggest sales of the year. The Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale and the Amazon Great Indian Festival, starting on October 8, will offer discounts on a wide range of items including smartphones. Flipkart has revealed some deals that will be offered on a few Redmi handsets during the sale. Most of these deals listed are inclusive of bank offers other than the specified sale discount. In this article, we list all the deals confirmed by Flipkart till now, starting from budget phones to flagship models.

Redmi Note 12 series, Redmi 12 and Redmi 11 Prime available with discounts

Redmi Note 12 series, including the base Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, was introduced earlier this year in January. At launch, the price of the models started from Rs. 17,999, Rs. 24,999 and Rs. 29,999, respectively. A Redmi Note 12 4G model, unveiled later in March, was marked at Rs. 14,999.

According to teasers shared by Flipkart, the 4G model of the Redmi Note 12 will be available for a price as low as Rs. 10,999 with an additional exchange offer of up to Rs. 1,000. It claims to offer the “most affordable” 120Hz AMOLED display. The phone has a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) Super AMOLED panel and a 50-megapixel triple rear camera unit. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 SoC powers it and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The phone is offered in Lunar Black, Frosted Ice Blue, and Sunrise Gold colour options.

The 5G base model of the Redmi Note 12 will be available for purchase at Rs. 13,999 during the upcoming Flipkart sale. Apart from the sale discount, this price includes all other bank offers. Customers can also opt for an EMI option and buy the phone starting in monthly instalments of Rs. 2,334. Redmi Note 12 5G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC and shares battery details with its 4G counterpart.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G will also be offered at a discounted price at the 2023 Big Billions Day Sale. The lowered price is yet to be confirmed. But Flipkart claims that with the offer price, it will be the only handset under Rs. 20,000 with a Sony IMX766 sensor. This model, offered in Frosted Blue, Stardust Purple, and Onyx Black colourways, features a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC. The pro version supports 67W fast charging with a battery similar to the base model.

The discounted price of the top-of-the-line Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has also not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be available at a considerably lower price than its usual market price. The Pro+ model, with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display, is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC paired with a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. The phone comes with a 200-megapixel Samsung HPX primary rear sensor. It packs a relatively smaller 4,980mAh battery but supports 120W wired fast charging.

Moving on to more budget options, the 4GB + 128GB variant of the Redmi 12 4G model, which claims to be the “fastest selling” Redmi phone, is also teased to be available at a lowered price during the upcoming Flipkart sale. The exact price is yet to be revealed. The phone comes with a 6.79-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,460 pixels) display, a 50-megapixel triple rear camera unit, a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging support.

Redmi 11 Prime, with a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, is confirmed to be priced at Rs. 9,249 during the sale. This price is inclusive of all offers, and Flipkart notes that the model will have limited stock for sale. It will be one of the lowest-priced budget phones in the segment with a 6.58-inch full-HD+ 90Hz IPS display.

Nothing Opens First Service Centre in Bengaluru, Plans to Launch 35 Exclusive Service Centres by 2025: Report

Nothing — the UK technology startup led by OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei — has opened its first exclusive service centre in the world in Bangalore. The advantages of the service centre over authorised repair partners include the possibility of the product being repaired within two hours. The exclusive service centre is one of many planned by the company, with four more expected to be announced in the coming months. Nothing is also reportedly planning on extending its service centres in India to 35 over the next two years.

Ahead of the launch of the Nothing Phone 2 in July this year, the company had announced plans to open its first exclusive service centre in August. The centre has finally been opened in Bengaluru, and customers can now visit the Nothing exclusive service centre at 100 Feet Road (also known as Dr SK Karim Khan Road) in Indira Nagar.

At the company’s first service centre, customers will be able to avail of priority service and support for their Nothing products, according to an Indian Express report citing Nothing Vice President and General Manager Manu Sharma. The UK-based smartphone maker will attempt to repair products within a two-hour period or offer users an alternative device for lengthy repair periods. Customers will also reportedly be able to play arcade games like Pac-Man at the store.

As per the report, Nothing will also offer discounts on labour and component costs at the exclusive service centre in Indira Nagar — on the second weekend of every month. Similar to Apple’s free sessions at its official retail stores, customers will reportedly be able to attend technical workshops in dedicated rooms at the new service centre.

The first service centre in Bangalore will be followed by four new ones in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, the company revealed back in July. The number of these exclusive service centres will add 15 more service centres next year, and the number of centres is expected to go up to 35 by 2025, according to the report.

Naughty Dog Has Reportedly Laid Off 25 Employees, The Last of Us Multiplayer Game Is ‘On Ice’

The Last of Us maker Naughty Dog is reportedly among the latest game studios to be hit with layoffs. As per Kotaku, the first-party PlayStation studio is cutting off at least 25 developers, with the most affected members being quality assurance (QA) testers, whose contracts have been shortened. Affected workers are expected to continue working until the end of October, and they allegedly won’t be receiving any severance payments. Turns out, the full-time staff — last recorded headcount being 400+ in July — are not being laid off, with employees in general being ‘pressured’ to keep the news internal.

While 2023 has been an incredible year for games, the people making them have been suffering for some time now. Massive layoffs, high-ranking executives leaving, and studio shutdowns like we saw with Volition, thanks to the poorly received Saints Row reboot It seems like all it takes for investors to pull the plug now is one bad-selling game, though it’s bizarre to see uber-successful studios like Naughty Dog suffering the same fate. The team kicked off the year on a great note with HBO’s live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, which has now earned 24 nominations at the upcomingEmmy Awards. It’s also weird when you think about Naughty Dog’s prestigious position in Sony’s eyes, with co-President Neil Druckmann claiming that the team has the luxury of creating what it’s passionate about, rather than chasing trends.

Kotaku also touched upon the long-gestating The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off title, noting that the game is ‘ basically on ice’ at the moment. A report from May revealed that development on the game had been scaled back and required more time to cook, as a means to ‘reassess its quality and long-term viability.’ As part of the process, several developers were reallocated to other projects and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) invited Halo and Destiny creator Bungie to evaluate the zombie-killing multiplayer experience. At the end of the testing, Bungie was unimpressed, raising concerns about the project’s ability to maintain an online player base for long periods, thereby leading to the internal shake-up. For now, though, the San Francisco-set spin-off isn’t cancelled.

It is worth mentioning that the TLOU multiplayer experience would also be the first to not include Druckmann as a lead writer or director. By the end of 2023, he might also be the only one left to lead Naughty Dog, given co-President Evan Wells has chosen to retire after a 25-year stint at the company. Its latest release was in March — the PC port of The Last of Us Part I, which was received poorly due to performance issues. Then there’s also an untitled ‘brand-new single-player’ game that the studio has got cooking, which many are hoping is The Last of Us Part III. An Uncharted sequel is unlikely since Druckmann already confirmed that the team is moving on from that franchise.
