Diablo IV Is Headed to Steam This Month, Just in Time for the Vampire-Themed Season 2

Diablo IV is coming to Steam, merely four months after its multi-platform launch. The devilish loot RPG is headed to Valve’s game storefront on October 17, keeping with creator Blizzard’s promise to bring more of its PC catalogue to the commonly preferred choice of platform. You see, all PC games from Blizzard are restricted to its proprietary Battle.net launcher, making it a nuisance for players to jump between and log into different accounts. It’s a hot topic among the community, who’d much rather have their entire library on Steam, for easy access. The free-to-play shooter Overwatch 2 was the first to break this tradition in August, albeit that ended poorly.

The Steam version is now available for wishlisting, and owners will be required to link/ connect Diablo 4 to a Battle.net account, enabling cross-platform play and cross-progression. That said, the game can be launched natively and there’s no need for you to keep Blizzard’s app installed on your PC. The arrival also brings the niceties of unlockable achievements, alongside smooth access to the Steam friend list, so you can invite others for co-op demon-killing sessions. For now, there is no word on whether existing owners of the game will be getting a discount on their Steam purchase, but the store page listing does feature three editions — Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate — same as the initial launch. During the developer update live stream, held late Wednesday, the team noted that the dungeon-crawler is playable on the Steam Deck, though they never went into the specifics of graphical settings.

Diablo 4’s arrival on Steam coincides with the upcoming season 2 content, titled ‘Season of Blood,’ granting you vampiric powers to storm through the lands of Sanctuary. The update will introduce a new questline, pairing you with the crossbow-wielding vampire hunter Erys, voiced by Gemma Chan (The Eternals), as you investigate a string of bloodied murders and the Dark Master responsible for it. More importantly, players can access the season 2 content right after completing the Missing Pieces prologue quest, essentially skipping the campaign to fulfil their blood-sucking desires. The update also vastly improves the endgame progression by increasing XP gains after level 50, faster by up to 40 percent. Expect five new endgame bosses, a general balance of skills, and faster mounts for traversal.

As mentioned before, Overwatch 2 was the first Blizzard PC game to make a jump to Steam, with the publisher promising that it plans on bringing over more titles. The shooter’s arrival was instantly blasted with negative reviews, making it the worst-reviewed game on the platform. At the time of writing, it’s got an ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’ review score, due to players’ dissatisfaction with the battle pass system and the cancellation of its long-promised PvE mode. Diablo IV, on the other hand, was received well at launch but slowly fell off with season 1’s release that made the game incredibly unfun to grind. Hopefully, fate doesn’t repeat itself this time.

Diablo IV is headed to Steam on October 17. It is already available to play on PC via Battle.net, in addition to console through PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

Android 14 Update Rolls Out to Eligible Google Pixel Phones: New Features, How to Download

Android 14 is now rolling out to compatible Pixel smartphones, months after Google took the wraps off its next major operating system update. The latest version of Android comes with improvements to security and accessibility features, and adds on-device generative AI tools — including the ability to create unique lock screen wallpapers. While many smartphone manufacturers are yet to announce which of their handsets will receive an update to Android 14, owners of recent Pixel models can download the update right away.

At the Made by Google 2023 event held on Wednesday, Google unveiled its Pixel 8 series of smartphones that run on Android 14 out-of-the-box. Meanwhile the company announced that eligible Pixel smartphones are also receiving the update to Android 14. This means that if you are running a Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold you will be able to download the Android 14 update. The Pixel Tablet will also be compatible with Android 14.

Some of the most noteworthy improvements and changes coming to Android 14 are related to the camera app, with support for “Ultra HDR” images, improved zoom support in third-party apps, and better image capturing in low-light scenarios. Meanwhile, the camera app can also scan documents like a certificate or a shopping receipt, which can then be stored in digital form.

The lock screen on Android 14 has been updated to offer support for increased customisation, bringing the Pixel phones on par with iOS and Samsung’s One UI in terms of customisation. You can now pick custom lock screen clock designs and use shortcuts of your choice on the lock screen. Meanwhile, a generative AI tool built into the operating system can create unique wallpapers for you that can be set on the home or the lock screen, or both.

You can now set a six-digit passcode on Android 14 and the operating system will unlock it as soon as you type it in. The operating system will also support passkeys, which means that you will be able to log into apps and websites without having to type your password.

Users who rely on Android’s accessibility tools will benefit from better font scaling with larger font support, the ability to pinch and zoom across the operating system, and support for connecting hearing aids. You can also enable a setting to flash your screen whenever you receive a notification.

Android 14 also adds support for a new Health Connect API (application programming interface) that will allow apps on your phone to access health information from a central location. Apps will also be able to access information collected by other apps that also have access to the API, according to details shared by Google.

If you want to download the Android 14 update on your Pixel smartphone, you can open the Settings app and tap on System > System update > Check for update > Download and Install. You’ll only need to do this if you haven’t already received a push notification informing you that the update to Android 14 is ready for your smartphone. After the update is downloaded, your phone will begin the installing it — you will need to reboot your phone when prompted, to complete the update process.

Noise Luna Ring Price in India Announced; Available for Purchase Now

Noise Luna Ring was launched in India in July this year. However, the company did not reveal the price of the smart wearable initially. Instead, a priority pass was offered to customers who were interested in buying it. Now, Noise has confirmed the price of the wearable and customers can redeem their passes to gain faster fitting, and delivery options. The smart ring market is still nascent but the Luna Ring already has a competitor in the Boat Smart Ring, which was unveiled in the country in August. Firms like Apple and Samsung have also been tipped to be working on similar products.

Noise Luna Ring price in India, availability

Offered in Lunar Black, Midnight Black, Rose Gold, Stardust Silver, and Sunlit Gold colour options, the Noise Luna Ring is currently priced in India at Rs. 18,999 and available for sale. The ring is available in seven sizes. Notably, it is more expensive than the Boat Smart Ring, which is priced at Rs. 8,999.

Customers who purchased the Rs. 2,000 priority Luna access pass can now redeem it and receive a discount of Rs. 3,000 along with free shipping, according to a 91Mobiles report. The pass is also reported to cover liquid and physical damage worth Rs. 2,000.

Noise Luna Ring specifications

Noise Luna Ring includes sensors like Infrared Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors, skin temperature sensors, and a 3-axis accelerometer. It also sports an optomechanical design that combines three LEDs, two PDs, and three bumps to ensure that the optical sensors are aligned with the user’s finger.

Noise claims the Luna Ring monitors more than 70 parameters and provides users with sleep, readiness, and activity data. Additionally, it has activity monitors that assess a user’s patterns and provide personalised suggestions. In order to monitor the user’s health, Luna Ring also includes a body temperature sensor in addition to a heart rate monitor and a SpO2 sensor. Users can use the NoiseFit application to monitor their data.

The smart wearable claims to offer a battery life of up to seven days on a single charge that takes about 60 minutes. It supports Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE 5) technology and also claims to have water resistance up to 50m or 164 ft. The Noise Luna Ring also offers routine firmware updates. All handsets running iOS 14 or Android 6 and higher are compatible with the smart ring. The ring measures 3mm in thickness.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin and Ether See Profits, Losses Hit Altcoins Like Solana, Tron

Bitcoin minted a profit of 0.91 percent on Thursday, October 5 to trade at the price point of $27,680 (roughly Rs. 23 lakh). This marks the third consecutive day that Bitcoin is trading in the range of $27,000 (roughly Rs. 22.4 lakh). Over the last day, Bitcoin has shown a substantial rise in its value. The asset, that was priced $27,403 (roughly Rs. 22.8 lakhs) yesterday, rose by $277 (roughly Rs. 23,050). As per market experts, October is expected to bring market consolidation and sideways movement, providing opportunities for long-term investors.

“Bitcoin’s gain follows a market calm-down after Monday’s sharp rally, easing traditional market headwinds,” Rajagopal Menon, Vice President, WazirX told Gadgets 360.

Ether joined Bitcoin on the profit-side of the crypto chart on Thursday. ETH is presently trading at $1,643 (roughly Rs. 1.36 lakh) after seeing a miniscule gain of 0.8 percent. In the last 24 hours, ETH rose in price by $3 (roughly Rs. 250).

Other cryptocurrencies that registered gains today include Binance Coin, Cardano, Dogecoin, Polygon, Litecoin, and Shiba Inu.

Small profits were also churned by Chainlink, Avalanche, Monero, Cronos, Bitcoin SV, and Elrond.

“Avalanche’s AVAX, a Layer 1 blockchain, has been a top performer in CoinDCX among major cryptocurrencies, with an impressive eight percent surge in the last 24 hours,” the CoinDCX research team told Gadgets 360. This rally in AVAX price comes due to the gaining popularity of its social app Stars Arena, which is a direct competitor of the very popular base chain app Friend.tech.

The overall valuation of the crypto market rose by 0.74 percent in the last 24 hours to sit on the mark of $1.09 trillion (roughly Rs. 90,73,323 crore), as per CoinMarketCap.

A notable number of cryptocurrencies did see losses today. These include Tether, Ripple, USD Coin, Solana, Tron, Polkadot, and Bitcoin Cash.

Industry experts are optimistic that newer developments and upcoming Web3 developments will keep the sector hot and running.

“A special focus yesterday remained on the exit of Jayanti Kanani from Polygon, popularly known as JD, the co-founder of India-based layer-2 MATIC (+0.4 percent). According to his post on x.com, Jayanti has embarked on a new journey, which could mean a new venture he might be starting. The overall crypto market seems to be calming down after Monday’s sharp rally,” Shubham Hudda, Senior Manager, CoinSwitch Markets Desk told Gadgets 360.

Cricket 24 Launches Globally; New India Edition PS5 Bundle Announced

Cricket 24, dubbed ‘the most licensed cricket game ever,’ is out now on PlayStation and Xbox consoles — both current and old-gen — alongside PC via Steam. Developer Big Ant Studios had also promised a Nintendo Switch port, though it won’t be available until late November. It’s not far-fetched to assume that developer Big Ant Studios rushed to put the game out right in time for the real-life ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which also kicks off today. As a result, we have an uneven launch, with Sony PlayStation trying to capitalise on India’s love for the sport by unveiling a Cricket 24-themed PS5 bundle.

“We’ve spent years going around the world signing up nations from the majors to the minnows,” Rory Simmons, CEO, Big Ant Studios said in a developer diary. “It has a full calendar, so one minute you’re playing in the Caribbean, then you’re playing the T20 in India, and then you’re down for the big bash — up for the hundred, maybe in Ashes.” His choice of words to describe the Indian tournament is worth noting here, as it seems the team never received licensing from the annual Indian Premier League (IPL), albeit player and jersey likenesses of teams like Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are present throughout. The Ashes, the longstanding test series rivalry between England and Australia, is another major draw in Cricket 24, promising detailed cutscenes, press conferences, and training sessions — all of which immerse you in the tour.

In addition to big tournaments like the KFC BBL and Weber WBBL, the licensing also carries over to 50 official stadiums and sporting equipment that features familiar branding. Then, of course, there’s the Career mode, which lets you chart a fledgling club cricketer’s journey, as they hone their skills to become the next big sensation on the international stage. It’s unclear how in-depth this mode is, but Big Ant Studios claims that players will have to grow their fan base, and will be given more agency in how they want to balance Test matches and the big leagues.

As part of the launch, PlayStation also revealed a Cricket 24 PS5 bundle, costing Rs. 47,990 — Rs. 7,000 cheaper than the console’s retail price in the country. This introductory offer goes live from October 8 onwards and will be available to purchase from leading online retailers like Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, GamesTheShop, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC, and Vijay Sales. For now, though, the price is set at Rs. 57,990, so it’s recommended that you wait for the discounted price. The package itself comes with the 4K Bluray-equipped PS5 console, alongside a digital voucher code to download Cricket 24 (Indian Edition) and a DualSense controller. If you already own a PS5 or a PS4 console, the game is available to purchase digitally at Rs. 4,399 from the PlayStation store.

Cricket 24 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for late November.

Spotify Premium Adds Free Access to Audiobooks in Australia and the UK

Spotify said on Tuesday that users of its premium services in the UK and Australia would now have 15 hours of free access to audiobooks a month, with the feature expanding to the US later this year.

The music streaming giant is looking to supplement its earnings with other revenue-generating formats such as podcasts and audiobooks. The launch of its audiobook service in the US last year challenged Amazon’s Audible.

Spotify last year laid out plans to get one billion users by 2030 and reach $100 billion in annual revenue. The company had also previously promised high-margin returns from its costly expansion into podcasts and audiobooks.

In July, Spotify raised prices for its premium plans across several countries including the US and the UK.

The company said on Tuesday that subscribers will be able to choose from a catalogue of over 150,000 audiobooks available as part of the existing Spotify Premium subscriptions, with the option to buy additional 10-hour allocations as top-ups.

Users must have a premium individual account or be the plan manager for their Family or Duo account in order to take advantage of this feature as of now, the company added.
