Xiaomi 14 India and Global Launch Timeline Leaked; Could Be Unveiled at MWC 2024

Xiaomi 14 was launched in China alongside the Xiaomi 14 Pro model in October this year. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and is backed by a 4,610mAh battery with 90W wired, 50W wireless and 10W wireless reverse charging support. The Xiaomi 14 models were the first phones from the company to ship with Xiaomi’s new HyperOS user interface. Now, the base Xiaomi 14 model is tipped to launch in India, as well as globally, in the coming months.

A 91Mobiles report citing tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) suggests that the base Xiaomi 14 model is expected to be introduced globally at the Mobile World Congress 2024 which is scheduled to take place between February 26 and February 29. The report suggests that the phone may be unveiled on February 25, and the handset may launch in India on the same day.

Previously, the standard Xiaomi 14 model was spotted on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website with the model number 23127PN0CG. The ‘G’ is speculated to represent the global variant of the Chinese counterpart. Although usually, the Indian variants carry an ‘I’ at the end, since the model was spotted on BIS, an India launch of the phone appears imminent. The phone was also spotted on the IMDA certification site as a “5G Mobile Phone with Bluetooth Wi-Fi and NFC” connectivity.

In China, the Xiaomi 14 launched with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage and a 4,610mAh battery with 90W wired, 50W wireless and 10W wireless reverse charging support. It ships with the company’s new HyperOS interface that is based on Android 14. The phone features a 6.36-inch 1.5K (1,200 x 2,600 pixels) LTPO AMOLED panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 460ppi pixel density, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.

In the camera department, the Xiaomi 14 has a Leica-branded triple rear camera unit with a Summilux lens. It includes a 50-megapixel Hunter 900 sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera has a 32-megapixel sensor. The handset comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 152.8mm x 71.5mm x 8.20mm and weighs 193g.

Oppo Find X7 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Vivo X100 Pro+ Tipped to Get Sony LYT-900 Sensor

Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo – leading smartphone manufacturing companies, are reportedly testing new camera hardware. A tipster suggests that the firms are planning to use the new Sony LYT-900 sensor in their upcoming flagship smartphones. The models tipped to get the new Sony 1-inch sensor are the Oppo Find X7 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and Vivo X100 Pro+. In fact, the Oppo Find X7 Pro could be the first smartphone to launch with Sony’s new LYT-900 sensors.

Tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) shared in a Weibo post that Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo are testing upcoming handsets with Sony LYT-900 cameras. According to the post, the tests are running well and premium models from all three brands could feature the 1-inch Sony Lytia LYT-900 sensor in their rear camera modules.

The handsets said to get this new camera are the Oppo Find X7 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and Vivo X100 Pro+. The post suggests that the Find X7 Pro will likely be the first among the three to be released in the market. However, if rumours about their launch dates are to be believed, it is likely that all three smartphones will be unveiled in quick succession from one another. Therefore, there will truly not be a lasting amount of exclusivity around the release of the models with the Sony LYT-900 sensors.

According to a GSMArena report, the Sony LYT-900 sensor is likely to come with a new DCG (Dual Conversion Gain) technology that is expected to reduce image noise and improve image output in low light conditions.

Recently, the Realme GT 5 Pro model, which is expected to launch soon, was reported to carry the Sony LYTIA LYT808 as its primary sensor, an OmniVision OV08D10 secondary sensor, and a Sony IMX890 telephoto sensor. In its rumoured triple rear camera unit the phone is expected to come with two 50-megapixel and an 8-megapixel shooter.

HyperOS Screenshots Leak Online Ahead of Expected Debut on Xiaomi 14 Series

HyperOS — the successor to Xiaomi’s MIUI Android skin — has leaked online ahead of its debut. The Chinese smartphone maker has already confirmed that the new operating system (OS) skin will arrive alongside the Xiaomi 14 series, and the company is rumoured to announce its latest flagship phones at the end of the month. Now, users on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo have shared several images of the upcoming HyperOS skin, showing off various aspects of the user interface.

Weibo user “Mr. Water” (translated from Chinese) leaked four screenshots of the upcoming HyperOS interface on Wednesday. The first image shows the weather app UI with the temperature at the top left corner of the screen and temperature ranges for the forecast section at the bottom of the screen. The calendar app has been updated with a rounded square design for the tiles in the month layout.

Xiaomi’s MIUI offered a control centre with quick toggles that somewhat resembled Apple’s Control Centre on iOS and the new HyperOS will also offer a similar interface. The brightness and volume sliders as well as the now playing widget embedded all look very similar to the ones on iOS 17, with a slight tweak to the layout. The Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles are located at the top, while the bottom half of the screen features several quick settings toggles.

The home screen on HyperOS is shown to feature two square-shaped widgets that show the time and the weather and also show the name of the app underneath — this is another design element that appears to be inspired by Apple’s operating system.

Meanwhile, another set of four screenshots shared by Weibo user Wei Xiaotian/ Alan (translated from Chinese) give us another glimpse at the upcoming HyperOS skin. The lock screen is shown to feature a large, vertically aligned digital clock that appears to be customisable.

Another image shows a new lock screen personalisation feature — Android 14 also introduced new lock screen customisation options on Google’s Pixel phones. From the screenshot shared by the Weibo user, it appears that HyperOS will let users tap different lock screen elements to customise the font and colour options.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has already confirmed that the new HyperOS operating system skin will make its debut on the Xiaomi 14 series of smartphones. The new handsets are rumoured to make their debut on October 27, but a launch date is yet to be announced. We can expect to learn more about the operating system — and the handsets it will debut on — in the days leading up to the anticipated launch date.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Leaked Renders Suggest Flat Display, Quad Rear Cameras, More

Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are expected to be announced soon as successors to the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, that were made official in December last year. Ahead of any official confirmation on the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series, leaked renders of Xiaomi 14 Pro have surfaced online to give us our first look at the front and rear of the flagship handset. The renders indicate a flat display with a centrally located hole punch cutout. The handset is said to come with a 6.6-inch screen and a quad rear camera unit.

Leaked renders of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, leaked by tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) and 91Mobiles, suggest notable differences compared to its predecessor — Xiaomi 13 Pro. The upcoming Xiaomi handset is seen with a hole-punch cutout at the centre of the display for the front-facing camera. It appears to have a flat display instead of a curved one on the predecessor. The report states that the handset will feature a 6.6-inch flat AMOLED 2.5D display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The renders also suggest a quad camera setup on the rear. The Xiaomi 14 Pro’s square-shaped camera island could house a few sensors. It will reportedly measure 161.6 x 75.3 x 8.7mm, with a camera module height of up to 13.1mm. Further, power and volume buttons are seen on the left spine. It is tipped to feature dual speakers as well.

Xiaomi 14 Pro is said to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It is said to be backed by a 4,860mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. It could pack a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro was launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 79,999 for the sole 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. It has a 6.73-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. It runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. A triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel 1-inch Sony IMX989 primary camera, and a 4,820mAh battery are the other specifications of the handset. It supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
