Xiaomi HyperOS Will See a Release in India on February 29

Xiaomi announced that the HyperOS interface will arrive in India last month. Now the company has revealed a launch date. Ahead of the much-awaited introduction of the Xiaomi 14 model in the country, the company’s new HyperOS skin will be unveiled. Recently, the company confirmed a list of devices that will get the HyperOS update in H1 2024. Xiaomi had also previously confirmed the models that would first receive the stable version of the update in India. However, Xiaomi 14 will still be the first phone from the company in the country to ship with this user interface.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Xiaomi India announced that the company’s new HyperOS will be unveiled in the country on February 29 at 12pm. This is a few days ahead of the Xiaomi 14 India launch, and it runs HyperOS out-of-the-box.

Notably, the company has previously confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 will be the first in India to receive the HyperOS update. Both phones ship with Android 13-based MIUI skin.

Meanwhile, the HyperOS-running Xiaomi 14 will launch in India on March 7. Like its global and Chinese counterparts, the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM. It is backed by a 4,610mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

The Indian variant of the Xiaomi 14 is expected to feature a 6.36-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a 50-megapixel triple rear camera unit, and a 32-megapixel front camera. It is confirmed to be sold in the country via Amazon and it will come in black, green, and white colour options.

Xiaomi announced in October this year that it will replace its MIUI OS with HyperOS and retire the older OS skin after its almost 13-year-long run. Now, the Chinese OEM has confirmed the Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco models that will receive the HyperOS developer version update globally.

In a post on X, Xiaomi confirmed that several smartphones and a tablet will receive the HyperOS update globally within the first quarter of 2024. The firm assured that those who signed up for the developer beta users will receive over-the-air (OTA) updates for the stable version. Among the models that will receive the HyperOS skin in Q1 2024 are Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 13T, Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12S, and Xiaomi Pad 6.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Leaked Renders Suggest Flat Display, Quad Rear Cameras, More

Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are expected to be announced soon as successors to the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, that were made official in December last year. Ahead of any official confirmation on the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series, leaked renders of Xiaomi 14 Pro have surfaced online to give us our first look at the front and rear of the flagship handset. The renders indicate a flat display with a centrally located hole punch cutout. The handset is said to come with a 6.6-inch screen and a quad rear camera unit.

Leaked renders of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, leaked by tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) and 91Mobiles, suggest notable differences compared to its predecessor — Xiaomi 13 Pro. The upcoming Xiaomi handset is seen with a hole-punch cutout at the centre of the display for the front-facing camera. It appears to have a flat display instead of a curved one on the predecessor. The report states that the handset will feature a 6.6-inch flat AMOLED 2.5D display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The renders also suggest a quad camera setup on the rear. The Xiaomi 14 Pro’s square-shaped camera island could house a few sensors. It will reportedly measure 161.6 x 75.3 x 8.7mm, with a camera module height of up to 13.1mm. Further, power and volume buttons are seen on the left spine. It is tipped to feature dual speakers as well.

Xiaomi 14 Pro is said to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It is said to be backed by a 4,860mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. It could pack a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

It has a 6.73-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. It runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 Lite Launched Ahead of MWC 2023: Details

Xiaomi 13 series had a global launch today, on February 26, a day before MWC 2023 begins. The smartphone series from the Chinese manufacturer sported three models — the vanilla Xiaomi 13, the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 Lite. The smartphone series announced its launch in China in December 2022, however, it included only two variants. While the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the Lite version in the series comes equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 Lite price, availability

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi announced the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series in Barcelona. The base storage variant has a starting price of EUR 999 (nearly Rs. 87,600), while the Xiaomi 13 Pro is priced at EUR 1299 (roughly Rs. 1,13,900). On the other hand, Xiaomi 13 Lite cost EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 43,800).

The Xiaomi 13 Pro global variant will make its debut in two colour options — Ceramic Black and White. On the other end, the base model will offer Black, Green and White colour variants. The Xiaomi 13 Lite makes its way in Black, Blue and Pink colour options.

Xiaomi 13 Pro specifications

The high-end variant in the Xiaomi 13 series — the Xiaomi 13 Pro — is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and comes equipped with a 4,820mAh battery that supports both wired and wireless charging. The smartphone gets wired charging support of 120W, with 50W wireless charging support.

For optics, the Xiaomi 13 Pro sports a Leica-branded triple camera unit at the back, which houses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel floating telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. Meanwhile, the 32-megapixel front snapper is placed at the top centre of the display.

With support for dual SIM (Nano-SIM), the Xiaomi 13 Pro runs on MIUI 14. It features a 6.73-inch OLED 2K (1,440×3,200 pixels) display that gets support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The Xiaomi 13 Pro pairs up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage.

Meanwhile, the connectivity options on the Xiaomi 13 Pro include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port, among others.

Xiaomi 13 specifications

The smartphone series also gets a vanilla variant, which gets similar software and hardware features as the Xiaomi 13 Pro. The Xiaomi 13 sports a 6.36-inch OLED (1,080×2,400 pixels) display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 1,900 nits of peak brightness. The Xiaomi 13 is also powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage.

The vanilla variant differs from the high-end module in terms of battery and optics. The Xiaomi 13 is backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. For optics, it too gets a Leica-branded camera unit. However, the triple rear camera setup packs a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 10-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

Xiaomi 13 Lite specifications

The smartphone, which did not launch in China along with the Xiaomi 13 series, is a rebadged version of the Xiaomi Civi 2. The smartphone runs Android 12 out-of-the-box with MIUI 13 skin. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM.

Xiaomi 13 Lite gets a 6.55-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. Similar to the other two Xiaomi 13 variants, this smartphone also gets a triple camera unit on the back. With a 50-megapixel primary camera, the other two sensors include an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel camera. However, the company is focusing on selfie pictures with this smartphone, which gets two selfie camera sensors in a pill-shaped notch, where both sensors are 32-megapixel cameras.

It will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery that gets Xiaomi’s 67W TurboCharge technology.

Xiaomi 13S Not Launching Anytime Soon, Confirms Company CEO Ahead of Xiaomi 13 Series’ Global Debut

Xiaomi 13S — the rumoured flagship successor to the Xiaomi 12S — will not be launched by the company anytime soon, confirmed the company’s founder and CEO Lei Jun. The Xiaomi 12S was launched last year in July as a half-year upgrade to the Xiaomi 12 series. A few months back, the company launched the Xiaomi 13 series in China, and now the company is all set for its global debut at MWC 2023 in Barcelona. The Chinese variant of the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and features Leica-branded rear cameras. It comprises two models — the vanilla Xiaomi 13 and a high-end Xiaomi 13 Pro.

Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun took to Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo to confirm that the company is not planning to make any half-generation upgrade to the Xiaomi 13 series for now. This means that there will be a long wait to know if the company will launch its Xiaomi 13S. At present, CEO Jun has scrapped all rumours regarding the development of the Xiaomi 13S.

The announcement came ahead of the Xiaomi 13 series’ global launch at MWC 2023 in Barcelona, slated to begin from February 27. The series has already been launched in the Chinese market in December 2022.

The Xiaomi 13 series in China has two models — the base Xiaomi 13) variant and a high-end Xiaomi 13 Pro variant. While the features and specifications of the Xiaomi 13 series in China are already known, the global variant has also appeared on a European retail site, revealing the prices, specifications, and colour options of both smartphones.

Though the listing was removed later from the website, it suggested that the Xiaomi 13 will be priced at EUR 999.90 (roughly Rs. 88,300) for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro will cost EUR 1,299.90 (roughly Rs. 1,14,700). Both the smartphones are said to be available in black and white colour variants.

The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are speculated to carry similar features for their global debut as their Chinese variants. The vanilla variant in the series runs MIUI 14 and has a 6.73-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

The Xiaomi 13 series will be launched in global markets on February 26, just in time for the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023). The Xiaomi 13 Pro will be released in India on the same day, according to the company. The Xiaomi 13 smartphone lineup is powered by Qualcomm’s latest-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The global variants of the upcoming smartphone series have leaked online ahead of their debut. The devices had previously been listed on several certification websites, indicating their global availability. Now, a listing on an European retail site has revealed the prices, specifications, and colour options of the global variants of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro devices.

European retailer Cyberport listed the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro on their website (via Notebook Check). These listings include the specifications, prices and colour options of the global variants of the Xiaomi devices.

The Xiaomi 13 will reportedly be listed at EUR 999.90 (roughly Rs. 88,300) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and will be available in black and white colour variants. The listing adds that the Xiaomi 13 Pro, also shown in black and white colourways, will be listed at EUR 1,299.90 (roughly Rs. 1,14,700). Listings for both the smartphones have since been removed from the retailer’s website.

Xiaomi 13 smartphone specifications are anticipated to be comparable to the model that debuted in China, which runs MIUI 14 and has a 6.73-inch 2K OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

Xiaomi 13 Pro’s triple rear camera setup consists of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel floating telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The Xiaomi 13 is also equipped with a triple rear camera unit that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 10-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Both the phones have a 32-megapixel front camera sensor.

A 4,820mAh battery powers the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which is accompanied by 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support. The Xiaomi 13 on the other hand is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi Begins Sending Media Invites For MWC 2023, No Mention Of Xiaomi 13 Ultra: Report

Xiaomi has reportedly begun sending out invites to media professionals for its Mobile World Congress (MWC) event scheduled to be held in Barcelona from February 27 until March 2 this year. Much has been speculated about what the Chinese electronics and smartphone manufacturer has in store for the MWC 2023 event. However, the media invites currently doing the rounds reportedly do not hint at any announcement about the much-awaited Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone.

According to a report by GSMarena, Xiaomi has begun sending out invites to journalists who would be interested in attending the company’s MWC 2023 event scheduled to be held in Barcelona next month onwards. The company reportedly wrote that they intend to share their vision for 2023 and onwards at the event, and on how the company plans to innovate and connect.

However, the major expectation from the event was an announcement around the purported Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone, which seems to have been skipped entirely by the Chinese company, at least as far as MWC 2023 Barcelona is concerned, according to the report.

Xiaomi also stated its intention to share information about its global footprint at the event. This reportedly could mean that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer may reveal the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro at MWC 2023.

Xiaomi was also recently tipped to announce its partnership with Leica for the global market at MWC 2023, which is tipped to include details around the use of a variable aperture for smartphone cameras. However, as far as the invite is concerned, the company may not make the announcements at the upcoming event. The report also added that though there has been no mention of Xiaomi 13 Ultra unveiling at the MWC 2023, the device may launch later during the year.
