Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Pre-Order Details Leak Out; Galaxy S24+ Spotted on Walmart Listing

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to be unveiled on January 17 and past rumours have already given us a fair idea of what to expect from the new flagship phones. The most recent leaks suggest video recording upgrades on the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra along with some pre-order perks. The regular models are also tipped to be priced lower than their predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in contrast, could see a price jump across all three storage variants. Meanwhile, Walmart accidentally listed the Galaxy S24+ on its online website, whereas Samsung retailers in Brazil have also started teasing the phone ahead of the debut.

On X (formerly Twitter), Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) posted that Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24 phones will be priced slightly lower than expected. He claimed that Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ stock is large this time as the company is optimistic about the upcoming phones. Further, the Galaxy S24 series is said to offer the ability to view HDR photos.

In a separate post, he hinted that the the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be able to record footage at 4K 120 frames per second (fps). The current Galaxy S23 Ultra supports 8K and 4K video recording. However, the 8K videos are capped at 30fps and the 4K videos are capped at 60fps.

Additionally, a post by the South Korean blog Naver says Samsung will provide pre-order bonuses for early buyers of Galaxy S24 Ultra. Like previous times, early adopters could receive higher storage variants of the phone at no extra cost. Additional pre-order bonuses are said to include discount coupons for the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds FE.

Meanwhile, Walmart has accidentally listed the Samsung Galaxy S24+ ahead of the rumoured January 17 debut. The listing shows the handset in an onyx black shade with 12GB of RAM. The screenshot of the e-commerce listing shared by PhoneArena reveals AI-powered features of the handset — Live Translate, Generative Edit, and Nightography Zoom.

The Walmart listing suggests a 6.7-inch display for the Galaxy S24+. This is an upgrade over the 6.6-inch screen on the Galaxy S23+. It is seen with a 4,900mAh battery.

Furthermore, tipster CID (@theonecid) on X claimed that Samsung retailers in Brazil had started posting promotional posters of the Galaxy S24 Ultra ahead of the announcement. A leaked poster shows a quad rear camera unit and a colour-matched S Pen.

The rumoured launch date of Galaxy S24 lineup is two weeks away, so we can expect to hear more about the flagships in the coming days. In the meantime, you can check our coverage here.

Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ Price Leaked; Could Be Cheaper Than Their Predecessors

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to make its way to the market soon. Over the past few months, there have been several leaks suggesting the major features coming to the Galaxy S24 lineup. The phones are said to get a faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, an improved camera system, new design and AI-based features. A media report recently indicated the European pricing details of the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The regular models are expected to be priced lower than the launch price of Galaxy S23. However, the pricing of the top-end model could remain the same as its predecessor.

As per a report by GalaxyClub (Dutch), the price of Galaxy S24 will start at EUR 899 (roughly Rs. 82,000) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The 256GB storage model could be priced at EUR 959 (roughly Rs. 88,000). The Galaxy S24+ will reportedly be priced at EUR 1,149 (roughly Rs. 1,05,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model and EUR 1,269 (roughly Rs. 1,16,000) for the 12GB + 512GB variant.

The top-end model of the lineup Galaxy S24 Ultra could be priced at EUR 1,449 (roughly Rs. 1,33,500) for the 12GB + 256GB version. The 12GB RAM + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB models is said to be priced at EUR 1,569 (roughly Rs. 1,44,500) and EUR 1,809 (roughly Rs. 1,66,500), respectively.

If this leak holds any weight, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ might be slightly cheaper than the launch price of their predecessors. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ debuted with a price tag of EUR 950 (roughly Rs. 87,000), and EUR 1,200 (roughly Rs. 1,10,000), respectively. The pricing of the Galaxy S24 Ultra could remain relatively the same. The pricing is likely to vary across countries depending on currency exchange rates.

Samsung has not yet announced the launch date of the Galaxy S24 series, but it is highly speculated to be unveiled on January 17. The brand is expected to pack Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy with overclocked CPU and GPU cores in both Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra across all markets. The US and Canada Samsung Galaxy S24 variant could run on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, while most regions will see the handset powered by an Exynos 2400 SoC.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Could Come With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the US and Canada

Samsung seems to be gearing up to unveil its next flagship smartphones — Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra — on January 17. Early leaks suggested that the regular Galaxy S24 could use either an Exynos 2400 SoC or a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, depending on the region. Now a new leak indicates that the vanilla model will ship with Exynos 2400 SoC in all global markets. All models in the Galaxy S23 range debuted earlier this year with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in every market.

Known tipster WigettaGaming (@WigettaGaming) leaked the specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S24 through a promo chart on X (formerly Twitter). As per the post, the Exynos 2400 chip will power the Galaxy S24 in every country other than the US, and Canada. The handset will run on a tweaked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC called “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy” in the US and Canada.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S24+, in contrast, could pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy with overclocked CPU and GPU cores across all markets. All variants in the Galaxy S23 lineup launched worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 family is tipped to come with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 and feature AMOLED LTPO displays with variable refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The Galaxy S24 could pack a 6.2-inch full-HD+ panel, while the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra might include 6.7-inch and 6.8-inch QHD+ panels, respectively. The Ultra variant is said to come with a 200-megapixel quad camera setup, while the regular models could feature a 50-megapixel triple camera unit.

Samsung is said to pack a 4,000mAh battery on the base Galaxy S24 model, while the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra could get 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh batteries, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Base Variant Tipped to Come With Slower UFS 3.1 Storage

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 lineup is anticipated to be one of the first major flagship launches next year. The entire family is said to come with new chipsets and designs. Amid the upgrades, the vanilla Galaxy S24 is tipped to feature relatively slower UFS 3.1 (Universal Flash Storage). This could be part of the cost-cutting measure by Samsung as the South Korean smartphone brand is highly speculated to keep the prices of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra phones the same as its Galaxy S23 counterparts.

A new post by the South Korean blog Naver suggests that the 128GB version of the Galaxy S24 will ship with UFS 3.1 storage. The rest of the lineup is said to come with UFS 4.0 storage. The UFS 3.1 storage is slower than UFS 4.0 that is based on Samsung’s 7 V-NAND memory. Samsung introduced UFS 4.0 with faster speeds and power efficiency in May last year. It has sequential read speeds of up to 4,200MB per second and sequential write speeds of up to 2,800MB per second. Most flagships nowadays use either UFS 3.1 or UFS 4.0 storage.

The 128GB variant of the Samsung Galaxy S23 uses UFS 3.1. Except for this model, the other Galaxy S23 variants pack UFS 4.0 storage.

This move could be aimed at preserving the pricing structure of the previous Galaxy S23 lineup for the new models. Recent reports indicated that the Galaxy S24 series will carry the same price tag as the Galaxy S23 range.

Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra were introduced with a price of $799 (roughly Rs. 65,500), $999 (roughly Rs. 81,900), and $1199 (roughly Rs. 98,300), respectively in the US.

The upcoming Galaxy S24 series is expected to go official on January 17. They are said to offer integrated AI features and minor changes in design. The handsets could be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and Exynos 2400 SoC based on the region.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series May Offer Same Price Tags as Predecessor; Said to Get Satellite Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is not yet officially confirmed by the South Korean tech brand, even though leaks and renders have been in abundance. The flagship lineup expected to include the vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models is expected to go official in January next year. Samsung is anticipated to keep the prices of the Galaxy S24 series the same as its Galaxy S23 series. Additionally, a new leak reiterated the existence of the emergency satellite texting feature in the Galaxy S24 lineup.

As per a report by Korean publication Hankyung, the Galaxy S24 series will have the same price as the Galaxy S23 range. This essentially means the upcoming Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a starting price tag of $799 (roughly Rs. 65,500), $999 (roughly Rs. 81,900), and $1199 (roughly Rs. 98,300), respectively in the US.

Samsung’s plan to equip Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its in-house Exynos 2400 chip on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus in select markets is expected to help the company maintain pricing. The company reportedly has set a product sales target of over 33 million units due to this price freeze policy. This would mark a 10 percent increase over the Galaxy S23 series.

Separately, a report by SamMobile alleges that Samsung will bring an emergency satellite texting feature for the Galaxy S24 series. The report includes a screenshot from a Galaxy phone showing the functionality dubbed ‘Emergency texts via satellite’. This feature lets users send emergency texts using satellite connectivity when they are out of range or not connected to a mobile network.

Apple introduced satellite connectivity with the iPhone 14 last year. The feature allows users to contact emergency services during situations like natural disasters and wilderness adventures. The Emergency SOS asks people questions about their situation and then transmits the data to the relay centre and emergency services. Initially, this service was exclusive to the US and Canada and Apple expanded its availability to more countries recently.

Samsung has not yet disclosed the launch date of the Galaxy S24 series, however, it is anticipated to be unveiled on January 17.

Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup with vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to go official early next year. Numerous leaks have already shed light on their specifications. India Smartphone Shipments Fall 3 Percent YoY in Q3, Samsung Retains Leadership: Canalys

Smartphone shipments in India declined 3 percent year-on-year (YoY) for the July-September period (Q3) in 2023, shows a new report by market research firm Canalys. Despite the fall, Samsung continued to lead the smartphone market with 7.9 million shipments and 18 percent market share. The South Korean company launched its Galaxy S23 series early this year and the flagship phones have apparently helped grow its market share. Xiaomi is in a close second spot, followed by other Chinese smartphone brands including Vivo, Realme, and Oppo in the top five places. Upcoming festival sales and improved consumer confidence are expected to lead to positive growth in the coming months.

Analyst firm Canalys said in its latest report that 43 million smartphones were shipped in India in the third quarter of 2023. The figure marks a 3 percent drop in year-on-year shipments.

Following past trends, Samsung enjoyed a major share of India’s smartphone shipments and maintained its top position in Q3 with a market share of 18 percent and a shipment of 7.9 million units. Xiaomi advanced to the second position by shipping 7.6 million units. The Chinese brand has grabbed 21 percent of the market share primarily fueled by the release of its affordable 5G models. Vivo came third with 7.2 million shipments and a 16 percent market share. Other BBK subsidiaries, Realme and Oppo came in fourth and fifth, respectively. Realme shipped 5.8 million units and got a 14 percent market share, while Oppo shipped 4.4 million units and received a 12 percent market share.

Canalys notes that brands promoted their festive product lineup with a focus on the budget-friendly 5G smartphone segment. Xiaomi expanded its 5G portfolio with the launch of budget-friendly models like the Redmi 12 5G and Poco M6 Pro 5G, contributing to the growth of 5G offerings in their lineup. Realme also gained traction in the market with its Realme 11x 5G and Realme 11 5G models. Brands like Motorola, Infinix and Tecno also drove limited volume through their new affordable 5G devices.

The premium smartphone segment also witnessed robust growth in the just-ended quarter, as per the report. Sales of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series and Apple’s iPhone 14, and iPhone 13 lineup surged during the festive sales driven by online sale offers.

Canalys observes that increased consumer confidence and the launch of new handsets will likely help the market move toward gradual recovery. “Despite the market gaining consumer confidence in the second half, the road to recovery will be challenged by global economic concerns,” said Canalys senior analyst Sanyam Chaurasia. “The growth in 2024 hinges on uncertain macroeconomic factors, particularly affecting the vulnerable entry-level segment. However, the Indian economy remains relatively resilient to sudden shocks from these variables and brands are adapting to market dynamics. To maintain market share, vendors should prioritise reducing channel pressures and building a lean product portfolio. They should have ‘hero models’ in each price segment while maintaining balanced inventories across channels” he added.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Faster Than Galaxy S23 Ultra, Suggests Vulkan Test

Samsung equipped the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy this year, ditching the company’s in-house Exynos chipsets. Some models in next year’s Galaxy S24 family are expected to pack Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. As we wait for the official announcement, Geekbench’s Vulkan test comparison shows that the Adreno 750 GPU of the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will be extensively faster than the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

In the alleged Geekbench 6 Vulkan test said to belong to the Galaxy S24+, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has scored a remarkable 17,031 points. This score is 81.6 percent higher than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The ongoing Galaxy S23 Ultra’s custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy has scored 9,379 points on the same platform.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC features an Adreno 740 GPU, while the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is touted to feature the Adreno 750 GPU. As the Geekbench Vulkan benchmark primarily focuses on graphics performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC could offer a substantial upgrade in that area over its predecessors.

Geekbench 6’s Vulkan test performance will not be reflected in every test and real-life performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The purported Galaxy S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is also expected to outperform its predecessor by a higher margin, as its larger vapour chamber could contribute to higher scores.

Samsung is believed to announce the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones in January next year. It could come with Titanium frames instead of aluminium. Early rumours suggested that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will feature an Exynos chip in some regions like Canada and the US, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a Snapdragon chip across all markets. All handsets in the Galaxy S23 lineup launched worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
