Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ launch event is set to take place on October 30 at 5pm PT — that’s 5:30am IST on Tuesday in India — and the Cupertino company is expected to unveil new computers at its next launch event. The firm unexpectedly announced the event, which will be the first to be held in the evening. We already know that Apple is planning on unveiling new Mac models at the event, thanks to the company’s teaser that was shared last week.

Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ event: How to watch livestream

Apple’s upcoming launch event will begin at 5:30am on Tuesday (that’s tomorrow) at the company’s headquarters in Apple Park, California. If you want to watch a live stream of the event, you can visit the Apple.com website or the company’s YouTube channel. The event will also be available to stream via the Apple TV+ app.

You can also watch the ‘Scary Fast’ event via the YouTube player embedded below.

Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ event: What to expect

The Apple logo on the next Apple event invite switches to the Mac logo, which gives us a clear idea of what the main products that will be unveiled on Tuesday. Apple is expected to unveil the first Mac computers with M3 chips — the first processors from the company for its computers that are built on a 3nm process, just like Apple’s new A17 Pro chip on the iPhone 15 Pro models. The new M3 chip is expected to be the most notable upgrade on Apple’s new Mac models.

At its upcoming launch event, Apple is tipped to announce a new iMac — the first upgrade from the company’s 2021 model that was equipped with an M1 chip. As a result, the next model is expected to offer a fairly large jump in performance compared to its predecessor. However, the design of the upcoming iMac model is unlikely to see major changes, as per reports.

Apple is also expected to unveil refreshed versions of its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Both laptops are expected to feature Apple’s more powerful M3 Pro (12 core CPU, 18 core GPU) and M3 Max (16 core CPU and 32-core GPU) chips — which should offer a jump in performance over the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models that were unveiled earlier this year.

The company is unlikely to launch refreshed versions of the Mac mini, Mac Studio, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air with its next-generation M3 chip until next year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. However, after Apple’s recent switch to using a USB Type-C port on its iPhone lineup, we can also expect the company to announce new USB Type-C versions of its accessories for Mac computers, including the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad.

Apple Sends Invite For “Scary Fast” Event; New iMacs, MacBooks Expected

Apple has sent out invites for the “Scary Fast” event, expected to be the iMacs and MacBooks launch, which is scheduled to take place at the end of this month. According to the invite received by Gadgets360 on Tuesday, the California-based tech giant will hold the special Apple Event on October 30 at 5 pm PT. The live streaming of the event will also be available on the company’s official website at apple.com. According to a previous report, Apple is expected to launch a follow-up model for the 24-inch iMac at this upcoming event.

On Tuesday, October 24, Apple began sending out fresh invites for an upcoming event. While the company has not mentioned the specifications of the event, it is expected to be a Mac Launch event. The lineup for the event hasn’t been revealed by the company yet. The event is scheduled at 5 pm PT, which means 5:30 am on October 31, a very odd time for an Apple event, keeping India in mind. The event will be available for live streaming at Apple.com and YouTube.

Apple has not refreshed its 2021 24-inch iMac yet. In a previous report based on Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman newsletter, Apple will launch a new 24-inch iMac refresh at the upcoming event. He also added that a larger Pro version of the iMac will arrive in late 2024 or 2025. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that the new 24-inch iMac will be launched in the coming year.

The previous 24-inch iMac is powered by the M1 chip. It is available in seven colour options to buy from and sports a 4.5K retina display with 500 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, another previous report citing Gurman said that the new Mac products could debut with Apple’s latest M3 chip.

The report by Gurman also stated that Apple has no plans to launch new iPad models this year. The company could launch new iPad models around March 2024.

iPhone 14 Models Feature Easily Removable Back Glass Panel, Dual Ambient Light Sensors: Report

Apple’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with an easily removable back glass panel, according to a reviewer. It was also noted in the review that the display on the iPhone 14 Pro can be replaced without having to remove the True Depth Camera module. These changes are said to reduce the repair cost of the newly launched smartphones. Additionally, the reviewer also highlighted that all the four models in the iPhone 14 series feature a new ambient light sensor at the rear.

TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino, in his review of the iPhone 14 series, said that the vanilla iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature an easily removable back glass panel. Panzarino also added that the display of the iPhone 14 Pro can be replaced without removing the True Depth Camera module from it. According to Panzarino, this will result in significantly reduceding the repair costs of the newly launched iPhone 14 series.

CNET’s Patrick Holland also noted, in his review of the new handsets from Apple, that the iPhone 14 has an internal redesign that allows for better thermal management, and enables the rear glass panel to be repaired easily. Holland added that the smartphone’s glass back panel can now be repaired at a lower cost.

The iPhone 14 series — comprising iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max — now feature dual ambient light sensors, according to Mashable’s Stan Schroeder. He mentioned in his review that the iPhone 14 series is equipped with an ambient light sensor at the rear, in addition to the one at the front. He believes that the rear ambient light sensor will improve the automatic brightness adjustment feature on the phones.

To figure out the difference, he compared the iPhone 14 Pro with the iPhone 13 Pro. Schroeder said, “I took the 14 Pro and the 13 Pro in my hands, held them against bright light, and then turned away and went into a dark room, and the 14 Pro was more responsive in adapting the display’s brightness.” Panzarino also said in his review that the iPhone 14 series features a secondary ambient light sensor at the back. The new ambient light sensor is said to help in adjusting the display brightness and determine camera exposure.

To recall, Apple launched the iPhone 14 series during the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. The vanilla iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro sport a 6.06-inch display. The iPhone 14 Pro is powered by the latest Apple A16 Bionic SoC, while the vanilla iPhone 14 features last year’s Apple A15 Bionic SoC with improvements.

iPhone 14 Pro’s Always-On Display Works With Multiple Native Apple Apps: Report

iPhone 14 Pro’s always-on display (AoD) works with several applications, according to a reviewer. The AoD on the iPhone 14 Pro models just shows a dimly lit lock screen, instead of showing a Black background like on the Android smartphones. According to the reviewer, the iPhone 14 Pro’s AoD works with the Maps application and the voice memo application. It is also said to work with the Apple TV Remote feature in the control centre. This is expected to offer better functionality even when the phone is locked.

Reviewer Brain Tong has shared his review of the iPhone 14 Pro via YouTube. In the video, Tong has highlighted some of the native Apple application that work with the new AoD on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The video suggests that the AoD on the newly launched smartphone from the Cupertino tech giant will allow users to directly access several applications including Maps and Voice Memos. It is said to also work during calls.

While using the Maps application, if a user decides to lock their iPhone 14 Pro, parts of the AoD will continue to show a dimmed version of the navigation. The top of the screen will show the distance left to the next turn, and at the bottom one can see the estimated time of arrival, as per the video. The Voice Memo app will continue to show the duration of recording, along with some other information on the AoD. It will also allow users to play, pause, or stop recording the voice memos. During calls, the top of the AoD will show users the caller ID of the person they are talking to.

Sofia Pitt, reviewer at CNBC, has also shared some information regarding the AoD feature on the iPhone 14 Pro models. Pitt said that the Apple TV Remote allowed her to play and pause the content she was viewing directly from the AoD screen. The dimly lit screen displays just the Apple TV Remote controls when the phone has been locked.

To recall, Apple launched the iPhone 14 Pro models on September 7 during its ‘Far Out’ event. The iPhone 14 Pro sports a 6.06-inch Super Retina XDR Always-ON OLED display with ProMotion refresh rate support. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with the same ProMotion refresh rate feature. Both the handsets are powered by the latest Apple A16 Bionic SoC.

iPhone 14 Series Confirmed to Feature 6GB of RAM Across Lineup: All Details

Apple’s iPhone 14 series — comprising the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature 6GB of RAM, as per a report. However, the type of memory used on the latest iPhone 14 series uses is currently unknown. The Cupertino-based tech giant doesn’t advertise the RAM type and capacity on its phones. The iPhone 14 Pro models were previously rumoured to feature 6GB of LPDRR5 RAM, and the non-Pro iPhone 14 models were said to sport 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

According to a report by MacRumors, the latest Xcode 14 beta files confirm that the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are all equipped with 6GB of RAM. However, the type of RAM available on the newly launched iPhone 14 series is currently unknown.

Last year’s vanilla iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini reportedly feature 4GB of RAM, and the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are equipped 6GB of RAM. The report further highlights that all four models in the iPhone 13 series uses the LPDDR4X RAM. Back in July, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were tipped to feature 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were rumoured to be equipped with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. A few months earlier, an analyst had stated in March that all models of the iPhone 14 lineup would feature 6GB of RAM, but the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max’s LPDDR5 memory would be up to one and a half times faster and up to 30 percent more power efficient.

However at the moment, there is no way to determine whether the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with LPDDR4X RAM, which featured on the iPhone 13 series, or whether the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature the newer, faster LPDDR5 RAM. These details are likely to emerge once teardown videos of the device are posted online.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 series during the ‘Far Out’ launch event on September 7. The iPhone 14 Pro models are powered by the latest Apple A16 Bionic SoC, and the non-Pro iPhone 14 models feature last year’s Apple A15 Bionic SoC, but with a few improvements.
