Apple Has Fixed iPhone 14 Series iMessage, FaceTime Issues in Latest iOS 16 Update: All Details

Apple has revealed that iMessage and FaceTime might not work properly on the recently launched iPhone 14 series due to some bugs. The Cupertino tech giant has said that the issues have been fixed in the latest version of iOS 16, and thus recommends iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro model users to update their smartphone to the latest iOS version. According to Apple, the iPhone 14 series users might not be receiving iMessages and FaceTime calls, or see a Green bubble instead of a Blue bubble while sending a text to another Apple device.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has highlighted via a support page on its website that iMessage and FaceTime might not be working properly on the latest iPhone 14 series smartphones. According to Apple, this could be because of multiple bugs. The company has published a list of issues that the users might be facing after setting up their new smartphones.

Apple further noted that users might be facing one or more of these issues. First, iPhone 14 series users can’t receive iMessages and FaceTime calls. Second, users are seeing a Green message bubble instead of a Blue bubble while sending a message to another Apple device. Third, a single conversation might show up as two separate threads. Lastly, the person receiving the message might see a user’s message coming from a different account, according to Apple.

For example, the messages might show up as being received from a user’s email ID instead of the phone number. Apple claims that this issue has been fixed in the latest iOS 16 update. Hence, the company recommends iPhone 14 series users to immediately update to the latest available version of the operating system as soon as they are done setting up their smartphones. To update the iPhones, users should head over to Settings > General > Software Update.

The Cupertino-based company added that if iPhone 14 series users are still facing the above mentioned issue, they can go to Settings > Cellular > Select the phone number you wish to use. Make sure the phone line is turned on while following the steps. Then head over to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Select the number you want to use. For FaceTime, go to Settings > FaceTime > Select the phone number you want to use.

On September 7, Apple launched the iPhone 14 series, comprising iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, during the ‘Far Out’ event.

iPhone 14 Models Feature Easily Removable Back Glass Panel, Dual Ambient Light Sensors: Report

Apple’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with an easily removable back glass panel, according to a reviewer. It was also noted in the review that the display on the iPhone 14 Pro can be replaced without having to remove the True Depth Camera module. These changes are said to reduce the repair cost of the newly launched smartphones. Additionally, the reviewer also highlighted that all the four models in the iPhone 14 series feature a new ambient light sensor at the rear.

TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino, in his review of the iPhone 14 series, said that the vanilla iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature an easily removable back glass panel. Panzarino also added that the display of the iPhone 14 Pro can be replaced without removing the True Depth Camera module from it. According to Panzarino, this will result in significantly reduceding the repair costs of the newly launched iPhone 14 series.

CNET’s Patrick Holland also noted, in his review of the new handsets from Apple, that the iPhone 14 has an internal redesign that allows for better thermal management, and enables the rear glass panel to be repaired easily. Holland added that the smartphone’s glass back panel can now be repaired at a lower cost.

The iPhone 14 series — comprising iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max — now feature dual ambient light sensors, according to Mashable’s Stan Schroeder. He mentioned in his review that the iPhone 14 series is equipped with an ambient light sensor at the rear, in addition to the one at the front. He believes that the rear ambient light sensor will improve the automatic brightness adjustment feature on the phones.

To figure out the difference, he compared the iPhone 14 Pro with the iPhone 13 Pro. Schroeder said, “I took the 14 Pro and the 13 Pro in my hands, held them against bright light, and then turned away and went into a dark room, and the 14 Pro was more responsive in adapting the display’s brightness.” Panzarino also said in his review that the iPhone 14 series features a secondary ambient light sensor at the back. The new ambient light sensor is said to help in adjusting the display brightness and determine camera exposure.

To recall, Apple launched the iPhone 14 series during the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. The vanilla iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro sport a 6.06-inch display. The iPhone 14 Pro is powered by the latest Apple A16 Bionic SoC, while the vanilla iPhone 14 features last year’s Apple A15 Bionic SoC with improvements.

iPhone 14 Pro Successor Could Feature TSMC’s 3nm SoCs, May be Most Powerful Phones in 2023: Report

Apple iPhone 15 Pro models will be the most powerful handset on the market in 2023, a recent report claims. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, commonly referred to as TSMC, will soon reportedly enter mass production with their rumoured 3nm SoC. The company stated that Apple would be its main customer for the 3nm processor in 2023, as per the report. The N3E version of the mobile processor is said to be available only after Apple launches the iPhone 15 Pro models, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC could be the first 3nm chip to power an Android phone in 2024.

According to a report by DigiTimes, first spotted by PhoneArena, iPhone 15 Pro models will be the most powerful smartphones in 2023. The report cites TSMC’s N3E production schedule to share that Apple will be its main customer for the 3nm chips in 2023. Meanwhile, the company will reportedly deliver the new chip to other smartphone brands in 2024.

The report suggests that Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro lineup that could succeed the iPhone 14 series that is expected to launch on September 7, will be the first major smartphone lineup to feature the 3nm chips with the Apple A17 Bionic SoC.

Android smartphones could be powered by the first 3nm chip in 2024, in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, according to the report. Unlike Qualcomm, MediaTek will reportedly launch 3nm processors made by TSMC by the end of 2023. The report added that the new N3E version will not feature in smartphones before Apple unveils the iPhone 15 Pro models. The new 3nm processors are said to enter mass production soon.

Recently, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared that the iPhone 15 is expected to be mass produced in India and China at the same time in 2023. Kuo also said that the iPhone 14 series production in India is about six weeks behind schedule than China, but the gap is narrowing.

Apple is set to host the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. The iPhone 14 series is expected to be unveiled during the launch event. The series is said to include the vanilla iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max Unified Pill-Shaped Cutout Could Display Privacy Indicators: Report

Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature a single pill-shaped cut out to display privacy indicators on iOS when the camera and microphone are in use, as per a new report. Recently, a report hinted that the purported pill-shaped and hole-punch cutouts on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will appear as one when the phones are in use. The Cupertino-based company previously announced that it will be hosting the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. During the launch event, the company is expected to unveil the new iPhone 14 series.

According to a report by 9To5Mac, which cites a source with knowledge of Apple’s plans, the single unibrow-like pill-shaped cutout on the display of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be used for displaying privacy indicators when the camera and microphone are being used.

The decision is said to enable Apple redesign the Camera app, by moving some of the controls to the top of the screen, located on either side of the unified cutout, as per the report.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the pill-shaped and hole-punch on the display of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would appear as one, wide pill-shaped cutout. Since, the phones are tipped to sport OLED displays, Apple could turn off the pixels located between the two cutouts.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated via Twitter that the one pill-shaped cutout on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max Pro has been adopted as the separation would look odd while using the smartphones.

Apple is set to host the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to debut during the event, which will be livestreamed from the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park.

As per a recent report, the purported iPhone 14 Max could be launched with the iPhone 14 Plus moniker. The company has reportedly opted this branding for the 6.7-inch iPhone model that is tipped to replace the iPhone mini form factor. The report added that the tech giant had asked the protective case manufacturers in July to refrain from using the iPhone 14 Max branding.

Apple Concluded Testing Satellite Communication Feature on iPhone 14 Ahead of Mass Production: Ming-Chi Kuo

Apple’s iPhone 14 series is expected to launch at its ‘Far out’ event scheduled for September 7. The rumoured smartphone series has been subject to several leaks and tips ahead of the upcoming event. Now, a well-known analyst has shared updates from a survey, which suggests that Apple had concluded the hardware test of satellite communication feature on iPhone 14 even before it entered mass production. However, the analyst believes that Apple will have to negotiate a deal with satellite operators in order to offer the feature on its upcoming smartphones.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, has shared updates of a new survey via Medium. According to Kuo, Apple had finished testing the hardware for satellite communication support on the rumoured iPhone 14 before it entered mass production. Still, its availability on the handset is still in question as Apple will have to cut a deal with the satellite operators.

Kuo said that Apple had also developed the satellite communication hardware for the iPhone 13, but it wasn’t integrated as the company was unable to negotiate a business model with satellite operators. Hence, the analyst believes that the availability of satellite communication services on iPhone 14 will depend on whether the two will be able to agree on a deal to offer the functionality.

The analyst further added that the satellite communication feature on the iPhone 14 will likely only offer emergency texting and voice services. Kuo also said that satellite communication will become an essential feature for smartphones in future. Although, the analyst can’t precisely predict if and when the iPhone models will get the feature, he believes that the smartphones from Apple will eventually offer satellite functionality.

Kuo further added that Apple has most likely partnered with a satellite operator called Globalstar. The analyst said that in the satellite communication ecosystem, operators like Globalstar have the greatest number of entry barriers.

Apple recently announced that the company will host the ‘Far out’ launch event on September 7. During the event, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 series, alongside other Apple products including new Apple Watch and iPad models, according to previous reports.

iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max Could Get $100 Price Hike, Analyst Says

Apple is expected to increase the price of the Pro models in its upcoming iPhone 14 lineup, according to details shared by an analyst. In an investor report, a Wedbush analyst has stated that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could see a price increase of $100 (roughly Rs. 8,000), in comparison to their predecessors. According to Ives, the price increase could be attributed to the increase in the cost of components and the added functionality of the new lineup.

Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives stated in an investor report that more consumers could opt for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max than the regular models. This could be a boon for Apple as the iPhone 14 Pro models will cost $100 (roughly Rs. 8,000) more than the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. To recall, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max were launched in India last year, with prices starting at Rs. 1,19,900 and Rs. 1,29,900, respectively, for the base 128GB storage option.

Ives adds that the iPhone 14 Pro models could feature more storage that their predecessors. A past report suggested that the Pro models could feature 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, whereas the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to get 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

Furthermore, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are believed to be powered by Apple’s new A16 Bionic chip. On the other hand, the regular models are expected to feature the A15 Bionic chip that currently powers the iPhone 13 models.

The price increase of the iPhone 14 Pro models was first tipped by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a recent report. Kuo stated that the increase in the average selling price (ASP) of these smartphones could be due to the “price hikes and higher shipment proportion.”

iPhone 14 Pro Series Likely to Cost More Than iPhone 13 Pro Series: Ming-Chi Kuo

Apple iPhone 14 Pro models could be launched at a higher price than their predecessors. The iPhone 14 series’ average selling price (ASP) is estimated to be increased by about 15 percent, according to an analyst. Foxconn is said to be likely to benefit from an increased ASP, according to the analyst, which can be attributed to two iPhone 14 Pro model price hikes and higher shipment proportion. Revenue of Hon Hai (Foxconn) could benefit from the increased pricing for the iPhone 14 series, the analyst added.

Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF International Securities, claims in a Twitter thread that the ASP of the iPhone 14 Pro series is estimated to climb by about 15 percent to $1,000 – $1,050 (roughly Rs. 79,000 – Rs. 83,000) for the upcoming iPhone 14 series, compared to the iPhone 13 series ASP. “Hon Hai/Foxconn is one of the winners of the increased ASP of iPhone 14 series,” Kuo said.

According to Kuo, the increase in ASP is due to two iPhone 14 Pro model price hikes and higher shipment proportion. This suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could be launched at a higher price than their predecessors.

Kuo recently stated that the mass production and shipment schedule are unaffected by the ongoing conflict between China and Taiwan. The analyst has refuted claims that suggested that the iPhone 14 series launch could be delayed due to delay in shipments.

Recently, Apple reportedly told its suppliers to increase the initial total stock of the iPhone 14 series to 95 million from 90 million units. Apple is reportedly expecting high demand for the upcoming iPhone 14 series. The report also added that the iPhone 14 Pro Max could emerge as the biggest seller among the four smartphones in the series.
