iPhone 14 Series Confirmed to Feature 6GB of RAM Across Lineup: All Details

Apple’s iPhone 14 series — comprising the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature 6GB of RAM, as per a report. However, the type of memory used on the latest iPhone 14 series uses is currently unknown. The Cupertino-based tech giant doesn’t advertise the RAM type and capacity on its phones. The iPhone 14 Pro models were previously rumoured to feature 6GB of LPDRR5 RAM, and the non-Pro iPhone 14 models were said to sport 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

According to a report by MacRumors, the latest Xcode 14 beta files confirm that the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are all equipped with 6GB of RAM. However, the type of RAM available on the newly launched iPhone 14 series is currently unknown.

Last year’s vanilla iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini reportedly feature 4GB of RAM, and the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are equipped 6GB of RAM. The report further highlights that all four models in the iPhone 13 series uses the LPDDR4X RAM. As previously mentioned, Apple is known for not advertising the RAM capacity and type their smartphones use.

Back in July, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were tipped to feature 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were rumoured to be equipped with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. A few months earlier, an analyst had stated in March that all models of the iPhone 14 lineup would feature 6GB of RAM, but the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max’s LPDDR5 memory would be up to one and a half times faster and up to 30 percent more power efficient.

However at the moment, there is no way to determine whether the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with LPDDR4X RAM, which featured on the iPhone 13 series, or whether the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature the newer, faster LPDDR5 RAM. These details are likely to emerge once teardown videos of the device are posted online.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 series during the ‘Far Out’ launch event on September 7. The iPhone 14 Pro models are powered by the latest Apple A16 Bionic SoC, and the non-Pro iPhone 14 models feature last year’s Apple A15 Bionic SoC, but with a few improvements.

Apple iPhone 14 Pricing Tipped Ahead of Debut, Might Be Same as iPhone 13 Launch Price: Report

iPhone 14 could be launched at the same price as the iPhone 13 when it made its debut last year, according to a blog post by a user on Naver. The decision was reportedly taken by “top executives at Apple” despite inflation and supply chain constraints. According to a recent report, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max — which are said to be powered by last year’s A15 Bionic SoC instead of the A16 Bionic SoC — could have a performance boost over the previous generation because of the new cellular modem and new internal design.

Apple iPhone 14 price (rumoured)

iPhone 14 pricing is tipped to start at $799 (roughly Rs. 63,200), according to a blog post by user “yeux1122″ on Naver (in Korean), first spotted by MacRumors. It is worth noting that the iPhone 13 was launched at the same price in September last year.

According to the blog post, which cites an unspecified major US financial institution, the decision was taken by “top executives” at Apple despite ongoing inflation and supply chain issues. The rationale behind the decision is said to be the stagnation in the global smartphone market and a decline in demand. The price of the basic model is said to be fixed despite the factors that could potentially raise them. Apple is yet to officially announce any details of the purported iPhone 14 series, including pricing.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are tipped to offer some overall performance improvements as the smartphones feature new cellular modem and a new internal design, according to a recent report.

Both the non-Pro models are reportedly going to be powered by last year’s A15 Bionic SoC, although, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max Pro will be powered by the A16 Bionic SoC.

Apple is also to be facing issues with the quality of the rear camera lenses of the iPhone 14, as per a report. The tech giant reportedly sourced the camera lenses from a supplier called Genius. The report added that these lenses suffered from “coating-crack quality issues”. The company is said to have already transferred the order to another firm, while the supplier attempts to resolve the issues.

iPhone 14 Demand Likely to Be Higher Than iPhone 13 in China: Ming-Chi Kuo

iPhone 14 may see bigger demand in the Chinese market than its predecessor iPhone 13, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst in a Twitter thread said that his latest survey signals that some distributors, retails, and scalpers have to pay the highest prepaid deposit ever for the upcoming Apple smartphone to ensure sufficient supply. A recent report had said that the new iPhone 14 is expected to come with a 3,279mAh battery and the iPhone 14 Pro can get a 3,200mAh battery.

Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst for TF International Securities, has shared in a Twitter thread that the iPhone 14 might see a stronger demand in the Chinese market than its predecessor iPhone 13, as per the latest survey conducted by the analyst. Some Chinese distributors, retailers, and scalpers are said to be paying the highest prepaid deposit ever for the upcoming smartphone from Apple to ensure sufficient supply.

The analyst said that this implies that the demand for the smartphone will be higher than expected in China. Kuo added that at present the iPhone 14 prepaid deposit is significantly higher than the iPhone 13 that can go as high as twice the normal prepaid amount in some areas in China. The analyst said that the iPhone 14 shipment forecast of component suppliers is about 100 million units and of EMS is about 90 million units for second of 2022. Kuo goes on to say that strong demand of the smartphone can reduce market concerns about the risk of iPhone 13 order cut after its launch.

According to an earlier report, the iPhone 14 series is expected to come with larger batteries than the iPhone 13 series. The iPhone 14 has been tipped to launch with a 3,279mAh battery and the iPhone 14 Pro can come with a 3,200mAh battery. The iPhone 14 Max is said to get a 4,325mAh battery and, on the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max can feature a 4,323mAh battery.
