Samsung Galaxy A35 5G Leaked Render Suggests Full Design and Key Specifications

Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is expected to launch in the market soon. The phone is likely to succeed the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G, which was unveiled this year in March with an IP67 rating. The launch timeline of the succeeding smartphone has not been tipped yet. The company has also not given out any details on the Galaxy A35. However, ahead of any official announcements, design renders of the Galaxy A35 and some of its key specifications have surfaced online.

A MySmartPrice report has shared leaked renders and a 360-degree video showing the design of the purported Samsung Galaxy A35 5G model. The phone is seen with rounded corners, a flat display with slim side and top bezels, and a relatively thick chin. There is a centre-aligned hole-punch slot at the top of the panel for the front camera. The screen is said to be 6.6-inch in size.

The back panel of the Galaxy A35 5G appears to have a triple rear camera unit placed in a similar vertical alignment as seen on the preceding Galaxy A34 model and many other 2023 Samsung models. The three camera units are placed in vertically arranged separate circular slots in the top left corner. The brand name is engraved towards the base.

Further, the right edge of the Galaxy A35 5G is seen with a slight bump where the volume rocker and power button are placed. The report adds that the handset is likely to measure 161.6mm x 77.9mm x 8.2mm in size. If the frame bump is taken into account, the handset is said to measure 78.5mm in width. No other specifications about the smartphone were hinted at in the report. More details can be expected closer to the launch of the handset.

Samsung’s Galaxy A34 5G was launched in India in Black, Light Green, Light Violet, and Silver colour options. The 6GB + 128GB of the phone is listed at Rs. 26,999, while the 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants are priced at Rs. 28,999 and Rs. 30,999, respectively.

Realme GT 5 Pro Teased to Pack 50-Megapixel Sony IMX890 Camera With 3x Optical Zoom

Realme GT 5 Pro is all set to be launched in China later this month. In the build-up to its imminent arrival, Realme has released new teasers highlighting the camera details of the premium flagship phone. The handset is confirmed to carry a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 telephoto periscope camera on the rear. Earlier this month, Realme announced that the Realme GT 5 Pro will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, coupled with 1TB of onboard storage. It is confirmed to be equipped with a larger heat dissipation unit, a 3,000 nits display, and an upgraded telephoto camera.

Realme teased the photography prowess of the upcoming Realme GT 5 Pro via Weibo. The flagship handset is confirmed to come with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX80 sensor coupled with an f/2.6 aperture and 3x optical zoom with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS) support. The setup is claimed to deliver up to 120x super zoom.

The Realme GT 5 Pro is already confirmed to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The new mobile chipset and Realme’s computing framework is said to offer 10 percent better power efficiency and up to 44 percent faster frame processing in the new device.

Realme has disclosed a few specifications of the Realme GT 5 Pro recently. It is confirmed to ship with 1TB of storage and a BOE-made display is teased to offer 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The handset is confirmed to offer improved heat dissipation technology with a surface area of around 10,000mm square and an upgraded telephoto camera.

As per a recent TENAA listing, the Realme GT 5 Pro will have a 6.78-inch (1,264×2,780 pixels) AMOLED display. It could be offered in 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM options along with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB inbuilt storage options. The phone is said to have a triple rear camera unit. For selfies, it might get a 32-megapixel sensor at the front.

The Realme GT 5 Pro is tipped to come with a 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Realme might not want the Mini Capsule to be the defining feature of the Realme C55, but will it end up being one of the phone’s most talked-about hardware specifications? We discuss this on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.

PlayStation launched its annual Black Friday Sale, late last week, offering discounts of up to 70 percent on key titles on the PS4 and PS5. The promotion is live across some first, but largely third-party releases, and is slated to end November 28 on the digital storefront. God of War Ragnarök is a standout among the catalogue, available at a 38 percent discount for Rs. 3,099, tasking Kratos and Atreus on a journey to the Nine Realms to prevent the prophesied apocalypse. PS Plus Premium/ Deluxe members also get a three-hour free trial period, in case you feel like testing the waters. Those who only own an old-gen PS4, however, can opt for the dedicated version at Rs. 2,279.

Meanwhile, its prequel God of War’s Digital Deluxe Edition will set you back by Rs. 999 at a 50 percent discount. The Last of Us Part I, a remake of the beloved post-apocalyptic zombie-killing game, at is available at Rs. 3,099 (38 percent off) for the PS5 — its sequel hasn’t received a discount. And of course, you can reach out to local retailers to acquire a physical copy of the same, which costs Rs. 2,499. In the same undead vein, you could also pick up Resident Evil 4 remake and step into the shoes of pretty-boy cop Leon S. Kennedy as he ventures into a ghoulish Spanish village to rescue the President’s daughter from bizarre cultists. It is available at a 43 percent discount for Rs. 2,279.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Review

The newest Assassin’s Creed title also makes it way its way to the Black Friday sale. After three open-world RPG focussed titles, Ubisoft has taken a back-to-basics approach with the franchise in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set in ninth-century Baghdad with a focus on stealth and crafty assassinations. Released last month, AC Mirage is listed at Rs. 2,799 after a 20 percent price drop.

Fighting game fans have two choices to pick from — Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. The former takes a vibrant turn, adding some RPG elements into the mix akin to the Persona games and a career-forming story mode that’s reminiscent of Yakuza. Street Fighter 6 also adds a Modern Control pattern, bridging the gap between old schoolers and newbies to the genre — the standard edition costs Rs. 2,239 after a 44 percent discount. Conversely, Mortal Kombat 1 marks another reboot of the franchise, after Liu Kang achieved godhood and altered the timeline to ensure peace in the lands. It’s listed for Rs. 3,359 — 30 percent off — and is perfect for those who enjoy some super-cool cinematics to go along with their fatal combos.

Speaking of cinematics, Final Fantasy XVI is also on sale, with its narrative-driven action RPG experience offering ability-based combat and slick cutscenes. The game tosses you into the war-torn lands of Valisthea to prevent the source of all magic, Aether, from fading away, by engaging in large-scale cinematic Eikon battles that ditch the franchise’s long-running turn-based combat. FF16 goes up for Rs. 2,879.

Final Fantasy XVI Review

Harry Potter fans could step into the enchanted hallways of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and tap into ancient magic while juggling between responsibilities like attending classes, exploring the dense Forbidden Forest, crafting potions, and fighting Dark Wizards. The Black Friday discounts will please Star Wars fans, too, who can continue Jedi Knight Cal Kestis’ story and take on the oppressive Empire in the acclaimed souls-like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for Rs. 2,699. For a more authentic souls-like experience, you could consider picking up the recently released Lies of P, where you take control of Pinocchio in a twisted Belle Epoque setting to rid the gothic town of Krat from pestilence. The game comes in at Rs. 3,039 on both PS4 and PS5 after discount.

Sports fans can get their annual dose of arcade football experience through EA Sports FC 24 at Rs. 2,249, or pick up NBA 2K24, the latest entry in the acclaimed basketball series, at Rs. 2,499.

Red Magic 9 Pro May Launch Globally After Debut in China: Watch Official Teaser

Red Magic 9 Pro series could soon be launched in global markets. The handsets are confirmed to launch on November 23 in China. The Red Magic 9 Pro series will succeed the company’s 8 Pro lineup, which was introduced in January this year. Those models are equipped with 6.8-inch full-HD+ AMOLED displays and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets. The Red Magic 9 Pro series is said to come with considerable upgrades over the preceding models. The company has already revealed the design of the Red Magic 9 Pro phones and also teased the key specifications of the handsets that will launch in China on Thursday.

The company shared a teaser on X (formerly called Twitter) where the back of the Red Magic 9 Pro can be seen. The short three-second video with just the number “9” in the caption shows the model with the number ‘09′ in red near the camera module on the top left corner of the rear panel of the smartphone. The inbuilt cooling fan with a custom RGB lighting effect is seen just below the camera module. So far, all details about the Red Magic 9 Pro have officially been shared via Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site. The teaser on X suggests that one — or both — of the Red Magic 9 Pro models will see a global launch soon.

In China, the Red Magic 9 Pro models are set to launch in Dark Night Knight, Deuterium Front Transparent Dark Night, and Deuterium Front Transparent Silver Wing (translated from Chinese) colour options with hidden under-display front cameras and a notch-less design on November 23 at 2pm local time (11.30am IST).

The base Red Magic 9 Pro has been confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of inbuilt storage. It will run Android 14-based Red Magic OS 9.0 out-of-the-box. The phone is said to carry BOE Q9+ panels to ensure a better display performance than preceding models.

The Red Magic 9 Pro models will also be equipped with Nubia’s self-developed Red Core R2 Pro gaming chips that claim to improve the gaming experience for users by extending the customisation options. It is said to support 165W wired “magic flash charging”, which claims to charge the handsets from zero to 100 in just 16 minutes.

Fake Google Chrome, Safari Updates Infecting Mac Computers With AMOS Malware

Fake Google Chrome and Safari updates for macOS are being used to infect Mac computers with the nefarious Atomic Stealer malware, also known as AMOS. Distributed to Mac owners as part of a social engineering campaign, AMOS can steal passwords, private files stored on a Mac. Users will need to stay alert and possibly use web protection tools in order to protect themselves from malware distributed by social engineering, as malware creators appear to be turning their attention to Mac owners.

Security firm Malwarebytes shared details of the latest version of Atomic Stealer, malware that is distributed to macOS users via ClearFake, a campaign that uses hijacked WordPress websites to deliver fake browser updates for Chrome and Safari. The distribution of AMOS via ClearFake to macOS users was recently spotted by Ankit Anubhav, a security researcher.

The malware is distributed via hijacked sites that closely resemble the Google Chrome download page, and a fake Safari update page that uses outdated icons from older macOS versions. However, the rest of the webpage design might convince some users to click and download the malware, while the fake Chrome download looks more convincing.

When the user clicks the download button, the malicious .dmg file is then downloaded to the Mac computer, disguised as a browser installer. Once it downloaded and opened, the user is prompted to enter the administrator password that will run nefarious commands on the device, including stealing passwords from Apple’s Keychain and exfiltrate document, images, wallets and other data from the user’s desktop and documents folders on macOS.

In order to stay protected from the malware, users will have to make sure they use some form of web protection — such as the Safe Browsing setting inside Google Chrome. Doing so might block some of these malicious sites from loading altogether.

Meanwhile, users should avoid downloading installers for Chrome from unknown websites. These social engineering websites are aimed at fooling users who might find it difficult to discern which websites are genuine. A good rule of thumb is to check whether the address bar shows google.com. On the other hand, Apple does not distribute Safari updates outside of operating system updates, so there are no official downloads that can be installed by users.

Indian IT MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar Reacts to Binance and Changpeng Zhao Debacle

Rajeev Chandrasekhar has reacted strongly to Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao’s admission to having violated US’ anti-money laundering laws. Chandrasekhar, who is the Union Minister of State for electronics and technology, has warned crypto firms against misusing technology to flout laws and accomplish illegal activities. The warning comes in the backdrop of India still awaiting the execution timeline for the crypto roadmap that has been agreed upon to be adopted by all G20 member nations.

In the early hours of Tuesday, November 21, Zhao announced that he was stepping down from his role at the crypto exchange, touted as the biggest in the world. As per the SEC, Binance broke US’ anti-money laundering and sanctions laws. This led the firm ad Zhao to hide over 100,000 suspicious transactions with organisations like Hamas, al Qaeda, and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, all of which are recognised as terrorist groups.

Reacting to the development, Chandrasekhar said that the Indian government’s gradual approach towards inviting the crypto sector in, has kept India’s investor community safeguarded against market meltdown events like the collapse of FTX last year that had wiped out over $200 billion (roughly Rs. 16,66,428 crore) from the crypto market.

“Using new technology to break the law does not make you a disrupter. It makes you a criminal,” he added.

Emerging among the heftiest corporate penalties in the US history, Zhao has agreed to a $4.3 billion (roughly Rs. 35,828 crore) settlement deal in a Seattle court including a personal payout of $50 million (roughly Rs. 416 crore) to close the matter.

In the aftermath of the Zhao debacle, most cryptocurrencies stepped into the trading rink today reeling under losses.

Binance’s own native BNB token plunged by 11 percent within hours of Zhao pleading guilty to have violated US’s anti money laundering policies.

‘Earn’: CoinSwitch Launches New Feature to Let Users Earn Passive Income via Crypto Holdings

CoinSwitch, one of India’s recognised crypto exchanges, is expanding its services portfolio to attract more users onboard its platform. In an announcement shared this week — the exchange launched a new feature called ‘Earn’. Through this, CoinSwitch will let users ‘lock-in’ their crypto assets and earn rewards in the form of cryptocurrencies. With this offering, CoinSwitch may be looking at increasing the number of people who engage with crypto on its platform, given that the sector is still largely unregulated and volatile in India.

For the first phase of its roll out, CoinSwitch users will be able to use four cryptocurrencies — Solana, Cardano, Polygon, and Near as crypto deposits. Each of these four crypto assets already have a fixed reward rate.

For Solana deposits, users will be able to earn up to seven percent rewards. Similarly for Cardano, Polygon, and Near — the reward rates stand at three percent, 5.5 percent, and 8.5 percent, respectively. It is to be noted that these Earn rewards may be subject of market fluctuation, depending on the number of people who lock in their cryptocurrencies on the platform. The transaction volume of the underlaying blockchains will also impact the percentage of these rewards.

“The rewards are issued by the blockchain, as per its rules. This is a safe and attractive program for our users to monetize their holdings without having to sell,” said Balaji Srihari, Business Head, CoinSwitch while commenting on the development.

The platform has further specified that in case anyone using the Earn feature wishes to unlock their crypto deposits, they will be allowed to do so at any time.

In recent months, Indian exchanges have reported a drop in trading volumes. This has been triggered because of an overall industrial slowdown. In addition, back-to-back interest rate hikes in the US as well as the targeting of crypto players like Binance and Coinbase by the SEC in the US also had negative effect on the market momentum internationally.

CoinSwitch, in August this year, trimmed its customer support staff citing a drop in user engagements. In the same month, CoinDCX crypto exchange also fired twelve percent of its work force blaming India’s crypto tax regime for pushing potential investors away.

India is expected to get a clearer legal framework to govern crypto firms by December this year. The G20 nations, along with India, have drafted the main points around which these crypto rules would be based.

Google Chrome Resumes Transition to Manifest V3 That Will Cripple Ad Blockers in 2024

Google Chrome will complete its transition to its Manifest V3 extension specification in 2024, the company recently announced via a blog post. The switch to Chrome’s Manifest V3 from the previous version is expected to severely limit the functionality of extensions on the world’s most widely used web browser — including several popular ad blockers. Google’s changes are expected to affect several other browsers that also rely on the Chromium engine, while Firefox and Safari are unlikely to be affected.

The search giant recently published a blog post with an updated timeline for transitioning to Manifest V3 for Google Chrome. Google’s updates to the specification will change how ad blocking extensions interact with the browser while also adding limitations on how much access they have to the browser and how they function on a user’s computer — some of these changes have been made to improve user security, according to Google.

The company was expected to drop support for Manifest V2 and complete the transition process last year, but faced intense pushback from privacy groups, developers, and users who rely on extensions that would be hindered by the move. More recently, YouTube began a global crackdown on ad blockers that prevents users with ad blockers from viewing videos on the platform, while raising the price of its ad-free YouTube Premium subscription in seven countries.

Google says it has made some changes to Manifest V3 that accommodate some of the changes requested by groups that are opposed to the upcoming changes to the extension specification that would affect ad blockers. These include scaling back restrictions on the Declarative Net Request API and improving support for content filtering — functionality offered by ad blockers.

While Google has made some accommodations for ad blockers that have allowed some developers to create addons that can offer similar functionality as Manifest V2 extensions, an Electronic Frontier Foundation staffer told The Verge that Chrome’s Manifest V3 limits developers of extensions and that everyone would end up relying on Google to update its API to be able to block advertisers and trackers via extensions.

As per Google’s updated timeline, extensions that support Manifest V2 will be disabled on three Chrome channels in June 2024 — Canary, Dev, and Beta. These changes will be introduced with Chrome 127 and later. Users won’t be able to install older Manifest V2 extensions (these will lose their Featured badge) and existing ones will be disabled on the browser, according to the search giant.

There’s no concrete timeline on when these changes will arrive on the stable update channel, where it will affect the largest number of Chrome users. Google says it expects the process of observing and stabilising the changes to take “at least a month”. Meanwhile, Google has urged extension developers to complete the process of migration to Manifest V3 before June 2024.
