Samsung Galaxy S24 Series to Launch With AI Capabilities, Might Outperform Pixel 8 Series: Report

Google’s Pixel 8 series debuted in the first week of October with several generative AI features. Now, early rumours suggest that Samsung is eying to rival the new Pixel phones by bringing more AI features to the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. Samsung could pack generative AI tools resembling ChatGPT and Google Bard on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones. With this development, users will be able to create text from prompts and text-to-image generative AI in their Galaxy S24 devices. Samsung Galaxy S24 series could go official early next year.

A report by SamMobile citing industry sources claims that Samsung wants to make the upcoming Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra “the smartest AI phones ever”, even surpassing Google’s latest Pixel 8 lineup. The South Korean electronic giant will reportedly use features resembling AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Bard in the flagship phones. This would allow Galaxy S24 users to create content and stories based on a few keywords.

The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are tipped to feature Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chipset in some regions like Canada and the US, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra could run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC across all markets. The company’s in-house processor could offer text-to-image generative AI features and some of these functionalities are likely to be available both online and offline. Speech-to-text functionality is also expected to see improvements.

Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby is expected to have humanlike and smarter conversations with the user. Bixby could get more AI capabilities preparing it to rival Google Assistant and Bard. The new Exynos and Snapdragon chips in the Galaxy S24 series are expected to outperform the Pixel 8’s Tensor G3 chipset in AI tasks.

Samsung is speculated to announce the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones in January next year. It could come with Titanium frames instead of aluminium. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to come with a new EV battery technology to offer improved battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Faster Than Galaxy S23 Ultra, Suggests Vulkan Test

Samsung equipped the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy this year, ditching the company’s in-house Exynos chipsets. Some models in next year’s Galaxy S24 family are expected to pack Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. As we wait for the official announcement, Geekbench’s Vulkan test comparison shows that the Adreno 750 GPU of the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will be extensively faster than the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

In the alleged Geekbench 6 Vulkan test said to belong to the Galaxy S24+, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has scored a remarkable 17,031 points. This score is 81.6 percent higher than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The ongoing Galaxy S23 Ultra’s custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy has scored 9,379 points on the same platform.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC features an Adreno 740 GPU, while the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is touted to feature the Adreno 750 GPU. As the Geekbench Vulkan benchmark primarily focuses on graphics performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC could offer a substantial upgrade in that area over its predecessors.

Geekbench 6’s Vulkan test performance will not be reflected in every test and real-life performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The purported Galaxy S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is also expected to outperform its predecessor by a higher margin, as its larger vapour chamber could contribute to higher scores.

Samsung is believed to announce the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones in January next year. It could come with Titanium frames instead of aluminium. Early rumours suggested that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will feature an Exynos chip in some regions like Canada and the US, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a Snapdragon chip across all markets. All handsets in the Galaxy S23 lineup launched worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Tipped to Feature Titanium Frame Across All Models

Samsung Galaxy S24 series — comprising the purported Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra — could feature a new material instead of aluminium, a tipster has claimed on X (formerly known as Twitter). Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, its flagship smartphones for 2023, that adopted titanium edges instead of the stainless steel frame found on their predecessors. While Samsung is yet to reveal plans to launch the Galaxy S24 series, the inclusion of titanium could drive up the price of the upcoming handsets.

According to tipster Revegnus (X: @Tech_Reve), Samsung is looking to manufacture titanium frames for the standard Galaxy S24 model on its domestic production line in Vietnam. For the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra models, the South Korean tech conglomerate is said to rely on two unnamed partner companies for titanium frames.

While Revegnus has had a fairly good track record of leaking smartphone specifications, tipster Ice Universe (X: @UniverseIce) responded to the tipster and claimed that only the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra would be equipped with a titanium frame.

Last month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, its flagship smartphones for 2023 with a new 3nm A17 Pro chip, an Action button that replaces the mute switch, and a titanium frame. In order to keep both prices and thermal levels in check, the company has used a combination of titanium on the external frame and aluminium for the internal structure.

Recently, another tipster leaked computer-aided design (CAD) renders of the purported Galaxy S24 Ultra. The leaked images suggest that the handset will bear a similar resemblance to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is shown to feature a quad rear camera setup and support for Samsung’s S Pen.

According to previous reports, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display. The phone is said to run on Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in most markets, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are tipped to debut with the company’s Exynos 2400 SoC in some regions, and support charging at up to up to 45W.
