Motorola Razr, Razr 50 Ultra Design Renders Surface Online; Razr 50 Specifications Leaked: See Images

Motorola Razr and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra are expected to be unveiled soon and the company’s upcoming foldable phones have now surfaced online in the form of press renders leaked by tipster Evan Blass (X: @evleaks). The latest images suggest that the standard Razr model will arrive with a cover screen that considerably larger than the outer display on its predecessor — the Motorola Razr 40. The specifications of the Razr 50 have also been leaked by a publication, ahead of its debut.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Blass shared images of the Motorola Razr and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. The renders of the former show the handset sporting a much larger cover screen — it is said to be a 3.3-inch curved pOLED screen) — than last year’s Razr 40 that has a 1.5-inch outer display. These specifications were published by Deal N Tech shortly before the images of the handsets were leaked on the microblogging platform.

The Motorola Razr 50 is also shown to feature a dual camera setup. On the inside, we can see a large 6.9-inch pOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a hole punch selfie camera. The publication states that the Razr 50 be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chip, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage.

The company will reportedly equip the Motorola Razr 50 with a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel secondary camera. It is expected to run on Android 14 out-of-the-box and pack a 4,200mAh battery. The report also states that the handset measures 171x74x7.2mm and weighs 188g.

On the other hand, the leaked images of the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra show the foldable phone with an outer display that is slightly larger than the one on the standard Razr 50 model. It is also shown in three colourway. An earlier report says that the Razr 50 Ultra will also be equipped with a 6.9-inch pOLED inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The successor to the Razr 40 Ultra will reportedly run on a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. The clamshell-style foldable is said to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera on the outer screen, while a 32-megapixel selfie camera will reportedly be located in a hole punch cutout on the inner screen.

Unlike the standard Razr 50 model, the upcoming Motorola Razr 50 Ultra will reportedly be equipped with a slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery. It is also said to have an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Motorola launched the Razr 40 series in global markets in June 2023 and the handsets arrived in India a month later, so we can expect to learn more about these phones in the coming days or weeks, ahead of their anticipated debut.

Motorola Razr 50 Ultra Listed on EEC Certification Website, Could Also Debut as Motorola Razr+ 2024

Motorola Razr 50 Ultra could arrive later this year as the successor to the Razr 40 Ultra — the company’s foldable handset that was unveiled in 2023 with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a dual rear camera setup, and a 3,800mAh battery. While there’s very little information on the purported foldable phone from Motorola, it has reportedly been listed on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) certification website, suggesting that it could be launched in the coming weeks or months.

91Mobiles spotted a listing for a Motorola smartphone on the EEC website with the model number XT2453-1, which bears a similar resemblance to the model number of last year’s Motorola Edge 40 Ultra. Gadgets 360 was able to verify the presence of the purported smartphone on the website.

While the website does not reveal the name of the smartphone, a recent report points to a device codenamed ‘Motorola Glory’ that has a nearly identical model number XT-2453-3. The phone is said to arrive in the US under the Razr+ branding — possibly the Motorola Razr+ 2024. A leaked render also suggests that it will arrive as a clamshell-style foldable.

Last year, Motorola launched the Razr 40 Ultra alongside the standard Razr 40 model in global markets, including India. That smartphone runs on a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and sports a 6.9-inch full-HD+ pOLED inner display with a 165Hz refresh rate, along with a 3.6-inch pOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The Razr 40 Ultra is also equipped with a 12-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The handset is equipped with 256GB of inbuilt storage packs a 3,800mAh battery with support for 30W and 8W wireless charging.

Apple Said to Be Working on Foldable Device Larger than iPhone Ahead of Mass Production

Apple is working on the development of a foldable device that could be larger than a smartphone, according to a report. The purported foldable device could arrive in the form of a notebook or a tablet, according to a DigiTimes report that cites Taiwan-based supply chain sources. The iPhone maker is said to have been working on a folding device for at least half a decade and is expected to decide on the design of the device before the company begins manufacturing.

According to the report (via MacRumors), the Cupertino company is working on a “larger device” hat could arrive in the form of the aforementioned devices, instead of a foldable iPhone. In order to do so, the company has reportedly tasked engineers from the Vision Pro team with the development of components for the foldable device, including the hinge.

If Apple does release a foldable device in the coming years — the report says a launch before 2025 is unlikely — it is likely to compete with products from Samsung, Oppo, Google, Huawei, and Xiaomi. These are just some of the firms that already offer foldable devices that can currently be purchased by consumers.

Earlier this month, Chinese tipster ‘Fixed Focus Digital’ (translated from Chinese) claimed that Apple had suspended the development of a device with a foldable screen due to a screen test that did not offer satisfactory results, and that the iPhone maker had bought several competitors foldable smartphones to dismantle them, while “speeding up the research and development” process.

The report contradicts this claim, stating that the work on a foldable phone has not been suspended and the company is working on more than one foldable device, with different departments tasked with developing each product. Apple is yet to announce any plans to launch a foldable smartphone in the coming months — or years.

Apple Temporarily Pauses Foldable Phone Development Due to Screen Testing Snag, Tipster Says

Apple is reportedly working on a new category of products – foldable smartphones and/or tablets. This suggests that the Cupertino-based tech giant is gearing up to compete against its Android peers in the segment, which has recently seen increasing competition with newer brands entering the market. Apple has not yet officially announced its entry into the segment and previous reports on the matter have also hinted that the company is still in its research and development phase and is not prepared to launch anything soon. However, the firm has now allegedly hit a snag in the process.

Weibo user Fixed Digital Focus (translated from Chinese) claims in a post that Apple purchased several foldable smartphones from competing brands for dismantling and is “speeding up the research and development” process. The tipster added that the project has now stalled owing to a screen test not offering satisfactory results.

Since the display is one of the major aspects of a foldable device, this is likely to push the timeline of the foldable product launch. Previous leaks suggested that Apple does not have its first foldable device in the company’s mass production plans for 2024 or 2025 and may launch it either by 2026 or 2027.

The earlier leak also suggested that Apple is working on prototypes of at least two clamshell-style foldable iPhone models which could be expected to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip handsets. Clamshell foldable models are equipped with inner displays that fold horizontally.

Apple is also said to be developing a foldable smartphone with a screen that measures between 7.6 and 8.4 inches, which is larger than the display of any foldable smartphone currently available in the market. The report noted that it could either be a foldable smartphone or a tablet. This rumoured model had also been tipped to replace the iPad Mini, which was refreshed in 2021 and carries an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD panel.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Could Get a Cheaper Variant Alongside Standard Model: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be unveiled in two variants later this year, according to a report. The South Korean tech conglomerate is considering launching a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 alongside the standard book-style foldable phone. This means that the smartphone maker could launch two larger folding handsets and a clamshell-style foldable later this year. The arrival of the purported cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 6 model is reportedly aimed at helping Samsung compete with other firms in China.

A report in The Elec (in Korean) citing industry sources states that Samsung is considering developing an entry-level model of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that could be launched alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The smartphone maker is planning to launch an affordable foldable phone for the first time since it introduced the first Galaxy Z Fold in 2019, as per the report.

The plan to launch an affordable version of its foldable phone is reportedly aimed at helping Samsung compete with other smartphone makers in China, where it has a double-digit market share. However, the report states that potential economic downturn could lead to high demand for premium smartphones, which could negatively impact the company’s sales if an affordable model is launched alongside the more expensive book-style foldable.

While there’s no word on what specifications and features will be available on the more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 model, details of the purported Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 surfaced online last month, giving us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming foldable phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 arrived with mostly iterative features over its predecessor, and this year’s model is expected to feature changes to the inner display’s aspect ratio that will reportedly have an impact on the outer display. The successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also expected to feature smaller bezels in the inner display, while the folder shaped outer screen on the clamshell-style foldable could also see some changes, according to the report. Samsung is yet to announce any plans to launch the successors to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 phones that are expected to arrive later this year.

OnePlus V Fold Colour Options for Chinese, Global Models Tipped Ahead of Debut: Details

OnePlus V Fold is expected to launch in the coming months, as the Chinese smartphone manufacturer’s first foldable. Announced at the company’s Cloud 11 launch event in February, the foldable phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and sport an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch outer screen. Leaked renders of the foldable handset suggest that it will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup housed in a circular module. Ahead of the smartphone’s debut two leakers have tipped the colour options of the OnePlus V Fold.

Tipster Ice Universe (Twitter: @UniverseIce) recently claimed that OnePlus’ first foldable would be as competitive — and offer similar camera and sound performance — as the Huawei Mate X3. In response to a user’s query, the tipster stated that the purported OnePlus V Fold would be available in a golden colour option.

Meanwhile, Allround-PC’s Max Jambor responded to Ice Universe’s tweet, stating that the golden colour option might be available in China, but there would also be black and green colour options for the handset — presumably for the models sold outside China.

Earlier this week, tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (Twitter: OnLeaks) leaked new images of the purported OnePlus V Fold handset in a black leather finish. The smartphone is shown to feature an alert slider on the right edge of the display, along with the power button, which also appears to house a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

The leaked images of the OnePlus V Fold also show the handset sporting a circular rear camera module with three sensors. The OnePlus V Fold is tipped to feature a periscope camera for high-quality optical zoom support. The inner display is also shown to feature a left aligned hole-punch cutout for a selfie camera while the outer screen also has a similar cutout that is centrally aligned.

As per an earlier report, the OnePlus V Fold could be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and could sport an 8-inch quad-HD+ OLED inner display and a 6.5-inch full-HD+ outer display. It could feature a 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup as well as two 32-megapixel selfie cameras, one located on the inner display and the other on the outer screen, as per the report.

The newly launched Oppo Find N2 Flip is the first foldable from the company to debut in India. But does it have what it takes to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4? Pixel Tablet Leaked Screenshots Show User Interface, Wallpapers Days After Pixel Fold UI Surfaces Online

Google Pixel Tablet is expected to make its debut sometime in 2023, according to the timeline specified by the company last year. The first Pixel branded tablet could be launched by the company in the coming months and was recently tipped to ship with an included charging dock. Days after details of the company’s rumoured Pixel Fold handset surfaced online alongside with leaked renders showing the design of the foldable phone, screenshots of the user interface and wallpapers for a device that is expected to debut as the Pixel Tablet have surfaced online.

Tipster Evan Blass (Twitter: @evleaks) has leaked images of what appear to be screenshots of the home screen of the Pixel Tablet. The eight images — four in dark mode and four in light mode — show wallpapers of birds’ wings in the background, as Google’s Material You theming engine for Android 13 affects the colours and accents of the icons and widgets on the tablet.

The Pixel Tablet is expected to ship with an optimised version of Android 13 for larger displays, as the interface shows the device’s home screen with its icons and widgets arranged according to the “landscape” layout. Last year, Google announced Android 12L as an optimised version of Android that was optimised for larger displays such as tablets — or even foldable phones.

While it is possible that these leaked screenshots were captured from a Pixel Fold smartphone or the inner display of a Pixel Tablet, one of the responses to Blass’ tweet points out that its likely to be a tablet as there is no phone icon on the home screen. Recently leaked images for the Pixel Fold hint at a slightly taller interface for Google’s foldable phone compared to these screenshots.

Last week, Blass leaked images of the Pixel Fold that showed the handset sporting a fairly large cover display with large bezels, especially on the inner display. That image showed a different layout compared to these new images, which show the search bar to the left of the dock. Meanwhile, the images of the Pixel Fold that were previously spotted online show a thicker search bar above the dock.

In April, it was reported that Google will launch its first Pixel-branded tablet in four colourways and it would be housed in an aluminium body with a nano-ceramic finish. The tablet is speculated to run on Android 13 out-of-the-box and be powered by a Tensor G2 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM. The tablet could also ship with a Charging Speaker Dock, according to the report.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 Storage Configuration Details Leak Ahead of Launch: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are likely to make their debut later this year as the successors to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphones, respectively. Details of these purported foldable handsets have previously been spotted online, and a recent report suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a larger cover screen than the recently launched Oppo Find N2 Flip. Meanwhile, storage configurations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have now surfaced online ahead of their debut.

According to a SamMobile report, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, which are precisely the same as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. All of these configurations will feature UFS 4.0 storage, which is also available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of smartphones, except the base Galaxy S23 model with 128GB of storage, which offers slower UFS 3.1 speeds.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly arrive in the same storage options as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This means the handset could be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage models. As per the report, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 128GB of storage will feature “slower” UFS 3.1 storage compared to the other variants, like the previously mentioned 128GB Galaxy S23 model.

Earlier this week, tipster Ice Universe claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Flip 5 would sport a larger cover screen than the Oppo Find N2 Flip foldable phone that was recently launched in global markets. It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch outer display, while the Oppo Find N2 Flip is equipped with a larger 3.26-inch AMOLED screen.

While we don’t expect the see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for a few months — these handsets are expected to make their debut during the same time that the company would previously launch its Galaxy Note series of smartphones — details of yet another foldable smartphone were recently leaked online. A report suggests that the Motorola Razr 2023 will sport a large cover display than its predecessor.

Leaked images of the purported handset shared by tipster Evan Blass show a large display that nearly fills up one of the rear panels, even surrounding the dual rear camera setup. This could allow for even more interaction with apps and controls on the outer display, reducing the need to open the device for some tasks.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series of smartphones was launched earlier this week and the South Korean firm’s high-end handsets have seen a few upgrades across all three models. What about the increase in pricing? We discuss this and more on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.
