Samsung Galaxy S24 Leaked Renders Suggest Colour Options; Some Galaxy S24 Models to Use Exynos Chips

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra design has been leaked online, in the form of renders that suggest seven different colour options for the company’s purported successor to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The handset is seen to feature a slightly flatter, yet familiar design. Unlike their predecessors, some models in the South Korean company’s upcoming Galaxy S24 series of smartphones will be equipped with the company’s Exynos processors, according to a remark made by Qualcomm CEO Cristian Amon during an earnings call.

New renders of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra created by Phone Arena based on predictions made by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO Ross Young show the flagship handset in Black, Gray, Violet, and Yellow colour options. These are said to be the standard colour options for Samsung’s smartphones in the Galaxy S24 series.

Young also predicts that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra might be available in three more colour options — Light Blue, Light Green, and Orange and another leaked image visualises the phone in these colourways. However, the company is said to be planning to offer these brighter colour options exclusively via the Samsung store.

Previously, reports suggested that some phones in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series would be equipped with Qualcomm or Exynos processors. Last year, Samsung equipped all the models in the Galaxy S23 series with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip. Qualcomm’s mobile processors are typically faster and more reliable than Samsung’s Exynos chips.

Qualcomm CEO Cristian Amon recently remarked (via Android Authority) that the company expected to have the “majority share” as part of the chipmaker’s partnership for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series of smartphone. While details of which phones will be equipped with Exynos chips are still unclear, Amon’s statement appears to confirm that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 won’t be the only chip that powers the Galaxy S24 series.

Recent reports suggest that Samsung will equip the US models with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip next year, while only the Galaxy S24 Ultra would get Qualcomm’s chip outside the US. The top-of-the-line Ultra model is tipped to arrive with the latest flagship Qualcomm chip in all markets. Samsung is yet to announce plans to launch the Galaxy S24 series, or details of the processors that will power the handsets.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s US Variant Makes Geekbench Debut With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

Samsung Galaxy S24 series comprising —Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models— is expected to go official early next year. The US variant of the Galaxy S24 Ultra has now been allegedly spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking site with model number SM-S928U. The listing suggests the yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It could be the only model in the lineup that will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC exclusively. The vanilla Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ are expected to come with both Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and Exynos 2400 SoC, depending on the region.

A Samsung smartphone has been spotted on the Geekbench website with the model number SM-S928U. The listing, believed to be that of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, hints at the presence of the Android 14 operating system. As per the benchmark listing, an octa-core chipset codenamed Pineapple with a 1+3+2+2 CPU configuration will power the phone. It shows a prime CPU core with a maximum clock speed of 3.30GHz, three cores with a clock speed of 3.15GHz, two cores capped at 2.96GHz and the remaining two cores with up to 2.27GHz speed. These CPU speeds and the codename are believed to be associated with the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The listing shows 2,234 points in single-core testing and 6,807 points in multi-core testing. As per the listing, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could get 6.91GB of RAM, this could get translated to 8GB on paper. The listing is dated October 12. The performance figures suggest noteworthy improvement from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Geekbench performance, which scored 1,521 and 4,689 in single and multi-core tests, respectively.

Early rumours suggest that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will feature an Exynos chip in global markets, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a Snapdragon chip across all markets. All handsets in the Galaxy S23 lineup launched worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

As per past leaks, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) display with 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to come with a quad rear camera setup, led by a 200-megapixel primary camera. The rear camera unit is also expected to include a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter, a third 12-megapixel sensor, and another 10-megapixel sensor. For selfies and video chats, there might be a 12-megapixel camera at the front. It is tipped to house a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to Stick With Qualcomm Processor; S24 Plus and S24 Might Get Exynos Options

Several leaks revealed over the past couple of months that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra will pack in several changes over the outgoing Galaxy S23 Ultra model. While it is expected to appear similar to its predecessor in terms of its cosmetic design, there are several changes expected under the hood, including its rear camera setup, which is said to do away with its 10X telephoto camera in favour of a 5X telephoto unit. Now, another leak corroborates a previous one in which the source claimed that Samsung will also be skipping on an Exynos-powered version of its Galaxy S24 Ultra this year.

The news comes from the Korean publication The Elec, which states that Samsung will, for the second time, avoid using its newest Exynos processor in its most high-end S series smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which will be manufactured using the 3nm fabrication process. When announced, it will be the second smartphone (after Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models) to be powered by a 3nm processor. While the source claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will only be available in a Qualcomm-powered model, the same does not apply to the other two models, which are expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Both of the expected Samsung Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 models are expected to be available in both Qualcomm and Exynos 2400 SoC-powered models, depending on region.

Last year’s Galaxy S23 series completely avoided any Exynos silicon because of issues related to performance and yield. The source goes on to state that South Korea, Samsung’s home market, will receive the Exynos-powered Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 models. A previous report has also claimed that the Exynos-powered models will be reaching Europe as well. In the case of South Korea, at least, this has apparently been done for matters of pride and symbolism to reflect Samsung’s expertise in chip manufacturing. The recently showcased Exynos 2400 SoC has notable improvements over the older Exynos 2200 SoC with both general performance and AI performance as well.

Indeed, Samsung going with its silicon in its largely popular Galaxy S series should ideally bring about some platform-exclusive features. But over the years, apart from security, we have yet to see anything beneficial by utilising the same in smartphones.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to offer a slightly different design this year. At the same time, all three models of the Galaxy S24 series are expected to have titanium frames. A rather odd move by Samsung as per recent leaks is the trimming down of its optical telephotos capabilities, bring it down from 10X zoom to 5X zoom; however, the sensor behind its zoom lens will be a lot more capable, so we could indeed expect a lighter or slimmer smartphone this year. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, unlike the outgoing model, is also said to feature a flatter display and may skip on the curved edges entirely this year like Google’s Pixel 8 Pro

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Could Ditch 10x Telephoto Camera to Ship With a 5x Zoom Level Sensor

Samsung Galaxy S24 series comprising vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models are expected to go official early next year. Samsung hasn’t revealed any details regarding the Galaxy S23 series successors, however, the leaks have been in plenty. Most recently, a tipster claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will ditch the 10x zoom lens and replace it with a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. This would be a potential downgrade from the zoom capabilities compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Known tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) on X claims that Samsung will revamp the telephoto camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As per the post, the upcoming flagship handset will feature a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with 1/2.52-inch size, 0.7μm pixels and 5x optical zoom. The device is also said to include a 10-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zooming capability.

The tipster states that this would give the Galaxy S24 Ultra a weaker telephoto camera performance than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The latter has two 50-megapixel sensors with 1/2.52-inch size 0.7μm pixel for telephoto and periscope lenses with 3x and 5x optical zoom.

If this rumour turns out to be true, Galaxy S24 Ultra’s zoom capabilities will be similar to the newly released iPhone 15 Pro Max. This would be a possible downgrade from the camera features available on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Galaxy S23 Ultra packs a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with support for 10x optical zooming.

Samsung is anticipated to release next-generation non-foldable Galaxy S series flagships in early 2024. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in most markets, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are expected to be launched with the company’s in-house Exynos 2400 SoC in select markets. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to come in 12GB RAM + 256GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. It might include a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX primary camera and is expected to get titanium frames as well.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Allegedly Spotted on 3C Website, May Offer Up to 45W Fast Charging

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is tipped to launch early next year. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are expected to bring some noteworthy upgrades over their predecessors — Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra, but the wired charging speed of the upcoming handsets could remain unchanged as per purported listings spotted on China’s Compulsory Certification (3C) website. The Samsung Galaxy S24 appeared with model number S9210, while the Galaxy S23+ is seen with model number SM-S9260. As per the listing, the regular model will support 25W fast charging, like the predecessor.

In the 3C listing, spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), three Samsung smartphones, believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, have been listed with model numbers SM-S9210, SM-S9260, and SM-S9280, respectively. The alleged listings suggest 25W fast charging support on the regular Galaxy S24, similar to the Galaxy S23. The Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, on the other hand, are shown with 45W fast charging support. As per the listing, the handsets will have 5G connectivity.

The 3C listing indicates that Samsung might stick with the same charging speed of the Galaxy S23 lineup for the Galaxy S24 series. The listing does not reveal any further details about the specifications of the handsets.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 comes with a 3,900mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging, whereas the Galaxy S23+ packs a 4,700mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. The top-end Galaxy S23 Ultra houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. All three models support Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 that offers 15W charging speeds.

While the South Korean conglomerate is yet to confirm the development of the new Galaxy S24 series smartphones, the tipster says that it will go official in January next year.

As per past leaks, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in all markets, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are expected to be launched with the company’s in-house Exynos 2400 SoC in select markets. The Ultra model is said to come in 12GB RAM + 256GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configurations. They are expected to get titanium frames.
