Kansas City Chiefs merch available on Fanatics

After a blockbuster playoff season, our two Super Bowl LVII contenders have finally been decided.

Yesterday, Jan. 29, the Philadelphia Eagles trounced the injured, underprepared San Fransisco 49ers to claim the NFC conference title. But our focus here is on Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs won their third trip to the Super Bowl since 2019 with a dramatic last-minute field goal to send Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals packing.

At 27, QB Patrick Mahomes’ legacy is already set in stone, but last night’s performance (and win) on a serious ankle injury only added to it. Even hobbled, Mahomes threw for 326 yards, two touchdowns, and notably ran for a gain in the last play of the game (although we don’t want to further debate that here), despite an obvious limp.

All of that’s to say: Chiefs fans, it’s time to celebrate. Super Bowl LVII is a little less than two weeks away, broadcasting live from Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 12. Before kickoff, make sure you’re repping Kansas City’s latest gear with Fanatics officially-licensed jerseys, hats, T-shirts, and more.

Below, we’ve rounded up our eight favorite pieces Kansas City merch. Read on, click through, and cheer on the Chiefs.

For the superfan collector, there’s the Travis Kelce Autographed Super Bowl Football. At $700, the price-point will be prohibitive for many. But for those who want to own a piece of Super Bowl history, this rare find is for you.

Brittany Matthews drools over Patrick Mahomes’ AFC Championship look

Patrick Mahomes can thank wife Brittany Matthews for always looking sharp on Sundays.

Leading up to Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and Bengals in Kansas City, Matthews took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of Mahomes, 27, as he made his way to Arrowhead Stadium.

“If you’re wondering, yes I dress him every game day, and he is always icey [sic] yes,” the 27-year-old Matthews posted alongside a photo of Mahomes, in addition to drooling and smiley face emojis.

The Mahomes post, which was originally shared on the Chiefs’ Instagram account, featured the quarterback sporting a light-color jacket over a Dior T-shirt, along with distressed jeans, white sneakers, and sunglasses.

“Cool? Nah, he’s ice cold,” the Chiefs’ social team captioned the image.

Mahomes wasn’t the only quarterback to make a fashion statement on Sunday as the Bengals’ Joe Burrow — who is well-known for his game-day ensembles — paired his pink jacket and matching slacks with a white shirt that featured a bear sporting a shirt that read, “Sorry.”

Burrow and the Bengals visited Kansas City last January for the 2022 AFC Championship game when Cincinnati punched its ticket to the Super Bowl with a 27-24 overtime win.

Mahomes, who suffered an ankle injury in Kansas City’s Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, is set to play Sunday. The five-time Pro Bowler will certainly be feeling the love from Chiefs Kingdom come kickoff, from Matthews especially.

Bill Belichick’s interview gets awkward after Tom Brady question

Bill Belichick did not want to talk much about Tom Brady’s movie.

The film “80 for Brady” comes out in February, featuring four elder women traveling to Houston to watch Brady and the Patriots play in Super Bowl LI in 2017. The trailer for the movie features Brady’s former teammates such as Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola.

Belichick was appearing on his weekly spot on “The Greg Hill Show” on WEEI, and was asked if Brady had invited him to appear in the movie.

“Yeah, I’ll leave that to Tom,” Belichick said, as covered by NESN. “I’m not going to get involved in anything that he does. Whatever comments there are to be made, they should be made by him, not anybody else. But thanks for asking.”

To this, Hill responded, “Bill would play himself. I feel like you should be in the film, Bill. That’s just me, my own personal opinion.”

Belichick did not respond to this comment, and several seconds passed.

“Alright, Bill, thanks, and we’ll talk to you next week,” Hill said.

Belichick concluded: “Alright, great. Sounds good. Thank you.”

Belichick coached Brady in New England from 2000 through 2019. The duo won six Super Bowls and won an additional three AFC championships. While the relationship ended with reports of a rift between the legendary quarterback and coach, there have been rumors that a reconciliation could be possible in 2023.

“Don’t ever write off the Patriots,” The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, who covered the team from 2009 through 2021, wrote in late November.

Paige Spiranac dubs USMNT’s World Cup jersey ‘quite boring’

The 2022 World Cup is right around the corner.

Golfer and social media sensation Paige Spiranac showed off the U.S. men’s national team’s kit ahead of the team’s World Cup showdown against England in Qatar — by stripping down to her bra.

Spiranac undoubtedly supports the USMNT on its World Cup journey, but she’s not a big fan of the kit.

Sports bra-wearing Spiranac slammed the mostly white jersey as “quite boring” in a recent Twitter video.

“A lot of people are very disappointed because they think it’s quite boring,” Spiranac said. “Honestly, I have to agree. They were just like ‘you know what, we are just going to mail it in’. We’re just going to make it all white and put USA on the front’. Like, what is this?”

Makeup artist Allison Kaye details game-day looks of NFL WAGs

When hair and makeup artist Allison Kaye was approached with the opportunity to style Sophie Scott, the girlfriend of Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, for the 2021 NFL Draft last April, the 31-year-old beauty enthusiast was encouraged to work one of the league’s biggest nights by her longtime champion, her husband.

“Honestly before then, I was just an average hair and makeup stylist who did weddings and other kinds of things,” Kaye recently recalled to The Post.

“Sophie herself had found me on Instagram and I was in our house in Florida at the time, the draft was in Cleveland, but I have a second home in Cleveland. She emailed me and my husband was like, ‘You fly up there and you go do the draft,’” she continued. “So I did and ever since then, I just started getting sports clients, specifically with the NFL.”

Sophie Scott shows off her NFL Draft glam by makeup and hair stylist Allison Kaye.

Kaye, who has been styling since the age of 6, even running a neighborhood salon out of a friend’s bathroom, continues to make a name for herself as a stylist in the sports sector, working with the likes of Allison Kuch, the wife of Browns defensive end Isaac Rochell, Alyssa Takitaki, the wife of Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki, and Hannah Lewis, the girlfriend of Patriots rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe.

Ahead of Zappe’s second career start against the Browns on Oct. 16, Lewis showed off her glamorous game-day styling from Kaye, which included a playful ponytail adorned with hair jewelry. Those pieces, according to Kaye, are something she’d like to incorporate into future looks.

“In her pony[tail], you can see the silver hair jewelry in there,” Kaye said of Lewis. “She was like, ‘I want some kind of pony,’ and I was like, ‘OK, here’s how we should do it,’ and then I have this hair jewelry and she had never seen anything like that. She was like, ‘That’s so cool,’ and [it] ended up being a hit.”

Hannah Lewis, the girlfriend of Patriots rookie quarterback Hannah Lewis, shows off her game day look in October 2022.

For Hannah Lewis’ look, Allison Kaye added hair jewelry to her client’s playful ponytail.

Hannah Lewis shows off the finish product during boyfriend Bailey Zappe’s Patriots game in October 2022.

When it comes to curating a look, it’s something of a collaboration between Kaye and the client.

“It’s just fun to see what the girls want to do and to see where their inspo [inspiration] is and kind of elevate their inspiration,” she said. “So they show me something and then, in my mind, my first thought is, how do we elevate this to make this something that people will talk about and is different?”

Styling NFL clients has been a fun experience for Kaye, as she’s been able to get “wild and creative” when producing the looks.

“What I think is awesome, specifically, about the NFL, is that their styling that I do with them can kind of be very wild and creative,” she said, “and it makes sense because it is the NFL, whereas I feel like for maybe some of the other sports, it’s a little more tame.”

For instance, when Alyssa Takitaki watched her husband’s Browns team defeat the Bengals on Halloween night Monday, Kaye created a “fun and glamorous” look for primetime.

“We decided to go with some glamorous curls but added in the braids for fun with hair jewelry incorporated into the braid [silver and gold rings] secured with Cleveland Browns color, orange, hair elastics,” Kaye shared. “Makeup-wise we kept it glamorous and fun with a glitter eyeshadow and wing.”

Allison Kaye created a special look for Alyssa Takitaki, the wife of Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki, on Oct. 31, 2022.

Alyssa Takitaki sported curls and hair jewelry during the Browns’ Halloween 2022 win over the Bengals.

Though styling for February’s Super Bowl and NFL Honors is at the top of Kaye’s bucket list, the Florida-based stylist also has her eyes on the ultimate prize.

“My goal now is to kind of be, since I don’t know of any other stylists who really are specifically niched in the NFL, is to be that and kind of be an originator of game-day glam,” Kaye said.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with them [the wives and girlfriends of players] and making game day special for them.”

Stephen A. Smith no longer wants to be portrayed by Will Smith

Stephen A. Smith’s idea for who should play him in an eventual biopic changed with the Slap Heard ‘Round the World.

Smith appeared on Comedy Central’s “Hell of A Week with Charlamagne Tha God” on Thursday and was asked about who should portray him in the eventual movie.

“Dammit it would’ve been Will Smith before the slap!” Smith said. “But I can’t go with him now.”

At this year’s Academy Awards, Smith bristled at a joke that Chris Rock made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia and proceeded to walk up to the stage and slap the comedian in the face.

For this behavior, Smith has effectively been placed in the Hollywood penalty box indefinitely.

Charlamagne interjected that Will Smith would be back one day: “He ain’t going nowhere.”

“Listen. He’s Will Smith. We know he’s gonna be back,” Smith responded. “We got love for him. But you just don’t do something like that. You know what I’m saying? Stephen A. wouldn’t do something like that.”

So, who is not disqualified from the role?

“Michael B. Jordan. Omari Hardwick,” Smith suggested. “They both look a hell of a lot better than me but dammit I’m stealing from them so what do you want me to do?”

Smith said his friend Jamie Foxx would’ve been another choice, because Foxx is trying to do “Tyson,” a biopic of boxer Mike Tyson.

Charlamagne said that Foxx does a great Stephen A. impression.

“He does Tyson exceptionally well,” Smith said. “He does me aight.”

Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily, celebrates first win with Panthers

This “Victory Monday” is extra sweet for Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily.

One day after Carolina topped the New Orleans Saints, 22-14, to claim its first win of the 2022 season, Emily took to Instagram to commemorate the occasion.

“Victory Monday,” Emily captioned the post, which featured Mayfield’s biggest fan at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday.

Mayfield, who was traded to the Panthers this summer after four years with the Browns, completed 12 of 25 attempts for 170 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions in the NFC South matchup. Though happy about the victory, Mayfield said postgame there’s still “a lot of stuff to work on.”

“We’ll take wins whenever we can get them,” the 27-year-old quarterback began. “They don’t have to be pretty. Still have a lot of stuff to work on obviously. Just the way the defense played and special teams, it’s pretty great. The way we ran the ball honestly. The mood in the locker room is great. Get that first win, kind of a relief. That weight lifted off your shoulders. Just need to build on. Guys need to get use to this feeling and continue to chase it.”

Mayfield’s postgame sentiments mirrored those of Panthers coach Matt Rhule, who entered Sunday’s contest with a 10-25 record.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule looks on from the sideline on Sept. 25, 2022.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield walks off the field after the Panthers’ win over the Saints on Sept. 25, 2022.

“It’s not a perfect game. A lot of things we still have to improve upon. A lot of things that showed up in the first couple games are still there. But I thought our guys competed,” Rhule said.

Hours before kickoff Sunday, NFL Network reported that Panthers owner David Tepper planned “to be patient rather than reactionary” in regard to Rhule’s job status, but that “wins must come and improvement must be evident.”

Rhule, 47, was hired as the Panthers’ head coach in Jan. 2020, agreeing to a seven-year contract worth $62 million.

The Panthers will try to improve to 2-2 this coming Sunday when they host the Cardinals.
