Ron Burgundy roasts Tom Brady with multiple Eli Manning jabs

Retired NFL legend Tom Brady took the hot seat on Sunday night as part of GROAT, The Greatest Roast Of All Time, which streamed on Netflix Live.

The event, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, featured many accomplished roasters such as Roastmaster General Jeff Ross, Tom Segura, Nikki Glaser, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, and more.

Will Ferrell also made an appearance, embodying his famous character creation, Ron Burgundy.

Burgundy didn’t need a teleprompter aid this time around, shredding Brady by using one of his sorest spots: Retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

“Underneath that dead robot of a quarterback, there’s a scared little boy,” Burgundy said. “Anyone notice? You don’t see Eli Manning here tonight, do you? No. That’s because he’s afraid of Eli Manning. Eli Manning made Tom Brady his (expletive). He made him his (expletive)!”

But Burgundy didn’t stop there. He then led the crowd in a chant for Brady.

“Eli. Manning. Made. Tom. Brady. His. (Expletive),” Burgundy shouted, urging those in attendance to chant along. “One, two, three… Eli. Manning. Made. Tom. Brady. His. (Expletive)!”

Before signing off, Burgundy had one closing thought for Brady.

“You won’t be forgotten. You’ll always be remembered as Eli Manning’s (expletive),” he said.

Although Brady and Manning have become friends over the years, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer has never shied away from the pain suffered in Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI.

Brady has acknowledged that those two Super Bowl losses still haunt him and that he’d even be willing to trade some of his other championship rings if he could go back in time and win Super Bowl XLII.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Brady party together at star-studded Art Basel Miami bash

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Brady were flocked by a bounty of beauties at Wayne and Cynthia Boich’s ridiculously star-studded private mansion party celebrating Art Basel Miami on Friday night.

“Leo and Tom were letting loose at a back table at the party,” a partygoer tells Page Six of Boich’s exclusive waterfront fête where Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne performed.

“They were both dancing to the music and all these beautiful women were surrounding Tom.”

Another source added that the former NFL star looked like he was “on the hunt” for a lady and the “Killers of the Flower Moon” actor was “basically a wingman” for the retired quarterback.

“They didn’t have to lift a finger,” the second source added, explaining that women were bee-lining for their packed table all night.

And a little rain didn’t stop Brady, 46, and the Hollywood star, 49, from keeping the night going.

“All of a sudden, it started raining and Leo and Tom stayed at their table and just looked like they were having an amazing time while other guests sought shelter inside Wayne’s house,” the partygoer said.

At one point, Brady was seen laughing and smiling while DiCaprio, wearing his signature black baseball hat, closely chatted in a corner with Sean Penn.

We’re told DiCaprio, who usually keeps a low profile, was a “total social butterfly” and was seen flitting around the party to schmooze with other celebrities and attendees.

“Leo looked like he was having the best time ever,” a spy tells us.

DiCaprio and Brady both stayed at the party until well after midnight before making their exit.

Meanwhile, Snoop, 52, was seen decompressing with a smoke session at the back of the party after performing for nearly an hour for the intimate crowd. He belted out several of his hits, including “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Young, Wild & Free.”

Lil Wayne, 41, then took to the stage and rapped an impressive set featuring songs “Lollipop,” “A Milli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot.”

Other stars spotted at the A-list soirée included Dwyane Wade, Venus and Serena Williams, Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, Corey Gamble, Tyga, Jimmy Butler, Victor Cruz, Lindsey Vonn and boyfriend Diego Osorio, AE Edwards, Harvey Spevak, Noah Tepperberg and wife Melissa Wood and Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

As Page Six reported on Friday, Brady is “dating around” and keeping his options open after his short-lived fling with Irina Shayk.

Brady and Shayk, 37, both attended DiCaprio’s Re:Wild event at the Superblue Museum on Thursday night.

“Brady was at the party briefly and he said hi to her, but he also said hi to a lot of other people,” a spy said.

The duo sparked dating rumors in May but things fizzled after less than four months together due to conflicting schedules. The former quarterback’s short chapter with the supermodel was his first public relationship following his October 2022 divorce from Gisele Bündchen.

Brady and the former Victoria’s Secret model, who were married for 13 years, share two kids: Vivian, 11, and Benjamin, 13. The athlete also shares son Jack, 16, with ex Bridget Moynahan.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio is seemingly off the market now that he’s getting serious with Vittoria Ceretti.

He and the Italian model, 25, have been romantically linked since they were seen making out on the dancefloor in Ibiza, Spain, in August.

“They’ve been spending quite a bit of time together over the past few months, and they’re enjoying getting to know one another on a deeper level,” an insider told Page Six in September while confirming their relationship.

The Oscar-winner, who was seen eyeing art pieces at the convention center earlier this week, most recently dated Gigi Hadid following his August 2022 breakup with his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone.

Interestingly, Hadid, 28, has recently sparked dating rumors with Shayk’s ex-partner, Bradley Cooper.

Shayk and the “Maestro” actor, 48, were together for four years before splitting in June 2019 and continue to co-parent their 6-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine.

LaMarcus Aldridge references Tom Brady in second retirement

LaMarcus Aldridge has called it quits — again –after a 16-season NBA career.

Similar to Tom Brady, another No. 12, this was the second time the seven-time All-Star has announced a retirement.

“In the words of TB12, you only get one big, emotional retirement… so, on that note…I’m thankful for all the memories, family and friends I made throughout my career,” Aldridge tweeted out on Friday afternoon. “It was one hell of a ride and I enjoyed every min!”

The 37-year-old center has not played this season.

Brady retired from the NFL after the 2022 season, his 23rd, after winning seven Super Bowls with the Buccaneers and Patriots — and a 40-day retirement following the 2021 season.

Aldridge stepped away from the game momentarily during the 2020-2021 season after being concerned about his irregular heartbeat.

“My last game I played while dealing with an irregular heartbeat. Later on that night, my rhythm got even worse, which really worried me even more. The next morning I told the team what was going on and they were great getting me to the hospital and getting me checked out,” He wrote on social media back in 2021.

Aldridge won the 2006-07 Rookie of the Year award to go along with being a seven-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA teamer.

“With that being said, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire from the NBA. For 15 years, I’ve put basketball first and now, it’s time to put my health and family first.”

Once he was medically cleared to return to play, however, he re-joined the Nets on a one-year deal, averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in what turned out to be his final professional season.

Coming out of his playing career at Texas, Aldridge was picked second overall in the 2006 draft by the Blazers.

He would spend nine seasons in Portland before signing with the Spurs in 2015.

Aldridge’s best seasons were his last two in Portland from 2013-15, in which he averaged 23.2 points and 11.1 rebounds, which was followed by 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds.

Overall, the Texas native averaged 19.1 points and 8.1 rebounds through the entirety of his career, making for a solid tenure.

Now the question is if Aldridge did enough to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame or not; according to Basketball Reference, he has a 50.9% of making it.

Baker Mayfield lands with Buccaneers in NFL free agency

Baker Mayfield has a new home.

The 27-year-old quarterback is signing a one-year, $8.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFL free agency, according to multiple reports.

Mayfield now figures to be in the catbird seat to be Tom Brady’s successor after the future Hall of Famer retired for good this offseason.

The move also likely eliminates any possibility that Brady returns to Tampa Bay, as he did last year after announcing his retirement – slim as those chances may have been.

Mayfield, a former No. 1 overall pick with the Browns, has bounced around the league after four underwhelming seasons in Cleveland.

He was traded to the Carolina Panthers last offseason after the Browns landed Deshaun Watson, then was cut halfway through the season and resurfaced with the Los Angeles Rams.

Mayfield went 1-3 with the Rams, but head coach Sean McVay expressed interest in retaining him, either as a backup or a possible security blanket in case injured quarterback Matthew Stafford doesn’t recover properly ahead of the 2023 season.

Instead, Mayfield took a job with the Buccaneers, where he has a much greater chance of starting.

He will likely compete with Kyle Trask, whom Tampa Bay selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Why Tom Brady’s Fox delay is worth $7 million to Greg Olsen

Greetings, before we get to today’s newsletter, please check out my review of the Super Bowl game broadcast on Fox.

We are calling it the “Brady Bonus.”

Tom Brady’s decision to take a gap year before potentially starting as Fox Sports’ No. 1 game analyst will be worth $7 million for Greg Olsen next season.

If Brady showed up for Fox next fall, Olsen not only would be knocked down to the No. 2 game analyst spot, but his salary would drop from $10 million to $3 million. The $3 million is a livable wage, but the extra $7 million is a significant difference.

With Tom Brady set to take some time away from football next season, Greg Olsen will remain in Fox’s top NFL broadcast booth.
Getty Images

Last offseason, Olsen signed his contract after Fox announced Brady would join the network. (The Post subsequently reported that Brady would receive $375 million over 10 years.) Olsen’s contract could be worth $50 million over five years if he remains in the No. 1 booth. It would have fallen to five years and $22 million if Brady started this fall. Now, at worst, Olsen will receive at least $29 million over those five years. Olsen also has an opt-out if he is bumped down and an opportunity to be a lead NFL game analyst for another platform arises.

Quick clicks I

Derek Jeter stopped by the Super Bowl on Sunday to announce he would be joining his former teammate Alex Rodriguez, and former rival David Ortiz, as an MLB analyst for Fox.
Fox Sports

The biggest part of the Fox Sports Super Bowl pregame was the announcement that Derek Jeter would be joining its MLB pregame show. Though it got a little lost because of the enormity of the Super Bowl, it is a big deal. Alex Rodriguez was one of the folks who presented the news, which was funny considering their frenemy history. Jeter has been gravitating toward doing more media and has had talks with YES about doing games. Jeter didn’t say much as a player, but Jeter is expected to only be on during big events, so it won’t be heavy lifting. He will be able to joke with A-Rod and David Ortiz, so while he probably won’t set the world on fire, he should be OK. … Fox Sports insider Sean Payton had a funny, “Everybody wants to cover sports media” report when he revealed that the new Denver Broncos coach and former Fox Sports analyst interviewed current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan for the Broncos’ defensive coordinator position. Payton worked the Super Bowl pregame on Sunday. … ESPN had Oz Pearlman, “Oz The Mentalist” on “Sunday NFL Countdown.” If it wasn’t staged, it was kind of crazy as he predicted things that would seem impossible to get right without a cheat sheet. … Early in its pregame, Fox Sports used actors to portray the undefeated 1972 Dolphins on the 50th anniversary of their Super Bowl win. It could have been cheesy, but with Larry Csonka narrating, it was quite good. … The big question that will be answered in the next few days is if this year’s Super Bowl will be the highest-rated game in history. It would need to reach 115 million viewers to top the 2015 Pats-Panthers game.

Quick Clicks II

Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s chief media and business officer.
YouTube/Sports Business Journal

We had the NFL’s top business official, who is considered the No. 2 executive in the league after Roger Goodell, Brian Rolapp, on “The Marchand & Ourand Sports Media Podcast,” and he talked about Sunday Ticket becoming more “interactive.” He didn’t detail what that would mean, but I kind of wonder if that may eventually involve fantasy sports or betting. To be clear, this is a bit of speculation on my part. I agree with Rolapp that the main viewing experience will not be focused on gambling. (It also won’t be on fantasy, but Rolapp did not address that in the interview.) The mainstream viewer doesn’t want gambling or fantasy to be the focus — and I’m not sure they ever will. Gamblers know what their bets are on games, while fantasy players know which players they are looking out for. With the unlimited channels available on streaming, bettors will be able to seek out an alternative viewing experience that caters to gambling. For fantasy players, and Rolapp is one, could the NFL and YouTube create a way that you could view your players and your opponent’s players in real time? It seems very feasible with the current technology. … Rolapp made it sound like it will use “Monday Night Football” flex scheduling as sparingly as possible. It will begin next season and I’ve heard it could be put in effect six times, however it likely will be used on much fewer occasions. The idea is to not have really bad games later in the season. For MNF, there is a big difference between moving games later in the same day, like the NFL does for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” as compared to switching a matchup to a completely different night. It is also going to put late season trips for fans in flux. If you travel for a 1 p.m. Sunday game and it gets moved to 8:15 p.m. on Monday, that would be two more hotel nights and a change in airfare for fans. …

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell raised the possibility that Amazon could get some flex scheduling for its ‘Thursday Night Football’ schedule, which had its share of unappealing matchups in Year 1.
Diamond Images/Getty Images

During his Super Bowl press conference, NFL commissioner Goodell mentioned the possibility of flexible scheduling for Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday night games. The NFL has a vested interest in making Amazon successful. It had a very good first year, but the NFL wants to see it build. Still, I think they will see how MNF goes before lessening the amount of 20-year-old Mazdas Al Michaels has to sell. … Condolences to the family and friends of longtime ESPN producer, Barry Sacks. Sacks passed away from a heart attack at the age of 63 this weekend. An Ithaca College alum and a huge Giants fan, he had a huge influence over ESPN programming and those on-air. Suzy Kolber mentioned during “Sunday NFL Countdown” that when Chris Berman said his trademark “G-Men,” it was an ode to Sacks’ fanhood. A common tribute from broadcasters was how Sacks always said, if you say, “Wow” when viewing a play, then it belongs in the highlight package.

Rob Gronkowski explains to Jimmy Fallon how partying made him a better football player

An animal on the field and a party animal in the bar.

Four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski opened up on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” about how he believes partying made him a superstar tight end in the NFL.

The Buffalo native first credited his hometown for molding him into the charismatic partier he’s notoriously known as to fans.

“I just had a good time growing up. I’m from Buffalo,” Gronkowski told Fallon. “The Bills Mafia, they’re tailgating. They’re jumping off RVs into tables, breaking open. That’s how I grew up.”

The five-time Pro Bowler told Fallon he would tell everyone makes him a “better player out on the field” if he parties.

Gronkowski said he analyzed how partying made him a better tight end.

“Well, I’m carrying my friends, you know, throughout the bar. I’m holding them up! I’m lifting. I’m curling them! There on my back, I’m jumping up and down! I’m dancing the whole time. Kinda like Austin Butler. I’m gyrating!”

The 33-year-old retired tight end realized all the exhilarating bar workouts “translated to the football field.”

“Yeah, of course it does,” Fallon sarcastically agreed.

With the Super Bowl LVII’s match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles set, Fallon asked Gronk who he thinks would be crowned champion.

“I would say Philadelphia has been playing more like a team throughout the whole season. I’m gonna go with the Eagles.”

Gronkowski, who retired once in 2019, only to come out of retirement to join his former New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and win another Super Bowl in 2020, officially retired again in June 2022.

“How close were you to suiting up again this season,” Fallon asked Gronkowski.

The Arizona Wildcats alumni revealed he was “kinda close” to returning to the gridiron during the season, saying he “missed it sometimes.”

“I missed it sometimes, but not really. Then I’d miss it for like an hour, and then I would go workout, and then I’d be like, ‘Nah, I don’t miss it. I don’t even have the energy to work out.”

Gronk revealed he had a couple of phone calls with a few weeks remaining in the season and “took them serious.”

“I took a five day period to see if I really wanted to go back,” Gronkowski wholeheartedly told Fallon, explaining he’s been an athlete his whole life. It was something he had to consider for the opportunity alone.

The 2014 Comeback Player of the Year said he didn’t think about returning once during those five days and graciously informed the teams giving him calls to return that he would not be suiting up.

Gronkowski disclosed that Brady had tried to persuade him to come back to play with the Buccaneers, but he still had to pass.

“He definitely supports me throughout the year, if I’m playing football or not playing football.”

Bill Belichick’s interview gets awkward after Tom Brady question

Bill Belichick did not want to talk much about Tom Brady’s movie.

The film “80 for Brady” comes out in February, featuring four elder women traveling to Houston to watch Brady and the Patriots play in Super Bowl LI in 2017. The trailer for the movie features Brady’s former teammates such as Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola.

Belichick was appearing on his weekly spot on “The Greg Hill Show” on WEEI, and was asked if Brady had invited him to appear in the movie.

“Yeah, I’ll leave that to Tom,” Belichick said, as covered by NESN. “I’m not going to get involved in anything that he does. Whatever comments there are to be made, they should be made by him, not anybody else. But thanks for asking.”

To this, Hill responded, “Bill would play himself. I feel like you should be in the film, Bill. That’s just me, my own personal opinion.”

Belichick did not respond to this comment, and several seconds passed.

“Alright, Bill, thanks, and we’ll talk to you next week,” Hill said.

Belichick concluded: “Alright, great. Sounds good. Thank you.”

Belichick coached Brady in New England from 2000 through 2019. The duo won six Super Bowls and won an additional three AFC championships. While the relationship ended with reports of a rift between the legendary quarterback and coach, there have been rumors that a reconciliation could be possible in 2023.

“Don’t ever write off the Patriots,” The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, who covered the team from 2009 through 2021, wrote in late November.

Tom Brady loses cool over question about altering Buccaneers’ game plan

The pressure may be getting to Tom Brady.

The Buccaneers quarterback nearly lost his cool on Thursday when asked about a report by the San Francisco Chronicle, which claims the seven-time Super Bowl winner changes the team’s offensive gameplan without informing head coach Todd Bowles or offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

According to the Chronicle, on the night before each game, Brady holds a separate meeting with the Buccaneers’ skill players to go over the gameplan, and makes tweaks to assignments and formations before handing off a revised blueprint to the coaching staff — which is left in the dark until gameday.

When asked if there is any truth to the report, a seemingly frustrated Brady said, “No. I have no idea. I mean, anybody can write anything, and say whatever they want. So, no. … I’m not gonna respond to every — next question.”

Frustration seems to be the central theme of Brady’s third season with Tampa Bay — following his decision to come out of retirement in March to play a 23rd season. This campaign has not been glamorous, and includes a number of F-bomb-fueled rants.

Sunday’s loss put the NFC South-leading Bucs a single game ahead of the Atlanta Falcons (5-8) and Carolina Panthers (5-8).

Brady finished 34 for 55 for 253 yards with one touchdown and the two interceptions. He was outshined by San Francisco’s “Mr. Irrelevant,” Brock Purdy — the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Purdy, who turns 23 this month, became the first quarterback ever to best Brady in his first start.

After the game, Brady said his team has “a lot of work to do” in the four remaining weeks of the regular season.

“We’ve got to do a better job,” he said. “Today was not good enough.”

The 45-year-old Brady even skipped a postgame shower before the long flight to Tampa Bay from San Fransisco, telling the San Francisco Chronicle, “F–k that. I’m going home.”

It’s been a season of highs and lows for Brady, both on and off the field.

In October, the quarterback announced his divorce from his wife of 13 years, supermodel Gisele Bündchen — with whom he shares two children, 13-year-old Benjamin and 10-year-old Vivian. Brady also has a 15-year-old son, Jack, from a prior relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Todd Bowles turns up heat on Tom Brady, Buccaneers

Is there a rift in Tampa?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles called out some of his players ahead of his team’s “Monday Night Football” matchup against the NFC South rival Saints.

“The leaders lead and everybody else follows,” Bowles told Buccaneers Radio Network via Joe Bucs Fan.

“So it’s time for our leaders to lead and step up. And everybody else has to follow, and make plays. Not just lead but make plays. And show them by example, show them by being vocal, show them by how they practice. And they’ve been doing that for the most part but, you know, we can’t piss away any more ball games sort of speak. So it’s time for us to step up and make plays. We got six games left until we’ve got to get in the tournament.”

The Buccaneers are coming off an overtime loss to the Cleveland Browns in which many questioned the team’s handling of time outs. It marked the first time lost when leading in the final minute of a game. He was previously 218-0 in those situations.

Brady is likely one of the leaders Bowles was referencing on Thursday, after all he is a captain of the team, and Tom Brady.

The Saints have given Brady trouble in his time at Tampa. In five regular season games against the Saints as a member of the Buccaneers, Brady has thrown eight interceptions to seven touchdowns and has a 1-4 record. However, he did lead the Bucs to a playoff victory in New Orleans on the way to a Super Bowl championship two years ago.

The Buccaneers, and the NFC South as a whole, have had a rocky season. Even though they are 5-6 the Buccaneers lead the NFC South, half a game ahead of the Falcons, who play the Steelers this week.

Tom Brady thanks teammates with milestone approaching

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady says “he can’t do sh-t” in the NFL without help.

During a press conference on Monday, Brady was nonchalant when asked about nearing 100,000 total passing yards — regular season and postseason — saying that he doesn’t deserve all the credit. The quarterback is only 164 yards away.

“I think for me it’s a credit to all the guys that I’ve played with, and who have blocked for me, who have caught passes,” said Brady, who is only 164 yards away from the six-figure milestone. “I think all those things are a great celebration to all those guys. I think I can’t do sh-t in this league without guys doing what they are amazing at, too.

“I’m very fortunate to play with great players, people who catch the football, great coaches, and being down here has been an amazing experience for me,” Brady said before naming his Bucs receivers and his former Patriots teammate, Rob Gronkowski.

“Playing with Mike [Evans] and Chris [Godwin], and that’s why I came here, because of guys like that. I played with [Rob Gronkowski] all those years. Obviously, I could name every player that I’ve played with and how meaningful they are to my life and what they’ve contributed in terms of the memories I have from this sport,” Brady said.

“So I feel like these are all — they’re great achievements, but for as much as people want to say, ‘Oh, this is what Tom Brady did,’ in my mind this is what myself and all these other people who have contributed to my life have done as well.”

Brady could very well surpass 100,000 total passing yards on Sunday when the Buccaneers host the Rams — a team that helped motivate Brady to un-retire, following Tampa Bay’s NFC divisional-round playoff loss to Los Angeles last January.

However, the quarterback made it clear that he’s focused on winning football games as he and the 3-5 Bucs continue to “fight” through struggles. The Buccaneers enter Week 9 on a three-game losing streak.

“I mean we’re right in the middle of the year — it’s in the thick of the fight — and we just haven’t played well enough to get our record to a point where we can be super excited about what we’re at,” Brady said.

“It’s not like it gets easier; it’s not like it gets any less competitive. No one feels sorry for us, nor should they. They’re trying to win those games. We’re trying to win, and we just haven’t done a good job the last six weeks doing that.”

Brady expressed optimism in his team, despite consistent struggles on offense. Tampa Bay is averaging 18 points per game, which ranks 24th in the NFL and the worst ever by a Brady-led team. The Bucs defense is also dealing with a number of injuries.

In the same press conference, Brady was asked about if he’s “OK” after announcing his divorce from his wife of 13 years, Gisele Bündchen.

“Um, that’s a very generic question,” Brady said with a smile. “I wrote something on my social media. I’ve always tried to do the best I could do here, and then when I leave here, try to do the best I could do, and that’s what we all try to do.

“I’m sure everyone sitting in this room, everyone sitting at home is trying to wake up every day doing the best they could do for their families and their career, and I’m no different. So, just do the best you can do every day, it’s what we certainly try to do.”

Last Friday, Brady and Bündchen confirmed in separate statements that they finalized their divorce and the split was amicable. The ex-couple said they are focused on co-parenting their kids, son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Vivian, 9, as well as son Jack, 15, from one of Brady’s previous relationships.
