For her first red carpet of 2024, Anna Diop came out with a bang in the form of a bejeweled tangerine minidress straight off Gucci’s S/S 24 runway. “I wanted to communicate effortlessness and chicness while also being in something that catches the eye,” Diop tells us following the event. Check, check, and check! The bold number was the epitome of joy and the perfect look to not only usher in an exciting new year on screen for the actor, but to more specifically celebrate The Book of Clarence, a film that is nothing short of a good time.
Directed by Jeymes Samuel (The Harder They Fall and The Great Gatsby), The Book of Clarence is an epic biblical comedy drama about a man struggling to make a better life for his family who risks it all to carve his own path to a divine life. The film most notably features an incredible ensemble of Black excellence consisting of Diop, LaKieth Stanfield, Alfre Woodard, Omary Sy, Nicholas Pinnock, and rising star Michael Ward. “It’s a film that does the near impossible in that it hits the comedy nail on the head, it hits the drama nail on the head, and it hits the action nail on the head,” Diop says. “I’m excited for people to come to the theater and really be entertained in the way film is meant to.”
One of the best things about the awards season is that there’s always sure to be something that takes you by surprise—e.g., one project could secure every single award or drama that ensues backstage (or sometimes onstage). But for Who What Wear editors, what always keeps us on our toes comes back to the moment when celebrities step onto the red carpet. We never know what people will wear, what trends will emerge, or what red carpet-looks will go viral. Sadly, though, in recent years, we’ve been in a bit of a dry spell when it comes to awards show style that, well, surprises.
Don’t get us wrong, we will always love a pretty red carpet look, but there’s something to be said about those willing to take risks, especially when you’re dressing up for an event as formal as the Golden Globes! It seems that so many celebrities are worried about whether they’ll land on the “best dressed” list that they forget to enjoy the getting dressed up part. However, that wasn’t the case with one star this year: Kylie Jenner. While one might argue she wasn’t necessarily “fully dressed” (wait until you see her ultra-sheer lace gown), nonetheless, her presence was a welcome shift from the sea of cliché gowns.
Many did not know Jenner would be in the audience at the Golden Globes since she did not walk the red carpet. However, she was there during the ceremony to support her beau, Timothée Chalamet, which quickly captured the attention of the internet. Although most of the buzz did surround the on-screen kiss they shared, we were more enthralled with their looks for the evening. Frankly, you won’t blame us once you see them for yourselves! Keep scrolling to see what Chalamet and Jenner wore to the Golden Globes…
To say that Aria Mia Loberti has that It factor, a magnetism that lights up the screen, would be a gross understatement. She did, after all, land the lead role of Marie-Laure LeBlanc in the upcoming adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel All the Light We Cannot See out of thousands of hopefuls during a global casting search for blind and low-vision actresses. Although she had no prior acting experience, Loberti—who was recently named the newest L’Occitane global ambassador—made a big impression, and an early preview of the series confirms her star power.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Loberti was celebrated as one of the 2023 TIFF Rising Stars this past weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival. The prestigious program showcases the next generation of international acting talent poised for success. Previous honorees include Thuso Mbedu, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Tatiana Maslany. During their time at the festival, TIFF’s Rising Stars are immersed in a series of public events and development meetings with notable industry insiders. For Loberti, the whirlwind three days included stops at the Chanel x Variety annual Female Filmmakers Dinner and the TIFF Tribute Awards. With the help of stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley, she made quite the fashion impression at both.
Here, Loberti documents the fantasy weekend exclusively for Who What Wear.
Kieran Culkin and his wife, Jazz Charton, didn’t shy away from showing PDA while attending the “Succession” Season 4 premiere Monday night.
The actor, 40, and the former model, 34, were photographed locking lips while walking the red carpet at Lincoln Center in New York City ahead of the screening.
A very giddy Culkin sweetly wrapped his arm around Charton’s waist as he planted a big smooch on her mouth.
The couple closed their eyes as they flaunted their hot and heavy moment for shutterbugs to snap.
The Emmy nominee and his spouse couldn’t seem to keep their hands off each other and stayed close throughout the photo op.
Culkin channeled his character, Roman Roy, in a blue blazer layered over a black turtleneck sweater, but he also let loose with his look, rocking tousled hair and a scruffy beard.
Meanwhile, London-born Charton looked elegant in a mint green, semi-sheer gown with bell sleeves and detailing that cinched at the waist.
Charton gushed over her evening out with her hubby in honor of the HBO show’s series finale.
She added, “Thanks for an amazing night @hbo #succession #finalseason.”
Several of the pair’s friends took to the comments section to compliment their loving relationship.
“You guys are couple goals lol the cutest ever,” one person wrote.
“you looked stunning 🙌,” a second gushed.
“Your hubby is a lucky guy!!! 😍😍,” a third commented.
“the cutest couple,” another agreed.
Culkin and Charton privately married in 2013 while on a road trip in Iowa after meeting at a bar a year prior. The couple went on to welcome two kids: 3-year-old daughter Kinsey Sioux and 1-year-old son Wilder Wolf.
Charton announced the birth of their second child a month after welcoming him into the world, writing on Instagram, “One month with our perfect little man 8.17.21 #gettheepidural.”

Culkin was previously hesitant to become a father, having shared in 2018 that he wasn’t sure whether they were going to have kids.
“It just seems like a lot to take on. I suppose if she gets pregnant, that would be fine, but it’s really not on our horizon,” he told iNews at the time.
However, it seems Culkin has fully embraced dad mode, as Charton consistently posts photos of the father of two bonding with their kids.
And he’s not the only one in his bloodline to embrace family life: His brother Macaulay Culkin welcomed a baby boy named Dakota with Brenda Song in April 2021. They reportedly welcomed a second son, Carson, before Christmas 2022.
“Succession” Season 4 premieres March 26 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
Jennifer Aniston emulated Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress — and Kim Kardashian’s 2022 Met Gala outfit — when she attended a photo call in Paris for her new movie, Murder Mystery 2, last night.
The “Friends” actress, 54, brought back memories of the Hollywood blonde’s gown when she posed on the red carpet in a flesh-colored dress covered in sparkling crystals, with the look coordinating with the golden lights shining on the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Aniston’s version of the dress featured spaghetti straps and a longer hem as compared to the thicker straps and slim silhouette of the Monroe gown Kardashian borrowed for the Met Gala.
Just like Kardashian — who caused controversy when she donned Monroe’s actual historic gown — Aniston added a white fur draped around her arms as she bundled up along the Seine.
The “Morning Show” star wore her hair in her usual straight style and kept her jewelry simple, accessorizing with a gold bracelet and several gold rings.

She sported a pale pink manicure and a contrasting maroon pedicure that peeked out from her strappy gold heels.
Aniston joined her Netflix co-stars Adam Sandler, Mélanie Laurent, Dany Boon, Jeremy Garelick and Kuhoo Verm to pose for some on-theme photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, as the upcoming movie is set in Paris.
The “Break-Up” actress isn’t the only star to channel Monroe with her recent look.
Ana de Armas — who played the Hollywood legend in “Blonde” — wore two Marilyn-inspired outfits for the 2023 Oscars, sporting back-to-back sparkling nude dresses for a pre-party and the awards themselves.
Along with the similarities to Monroe’s gown, one fan pointed out on Twitter that Aniston’s frock was actually similar to one her character, Rachel Green, wore on a 1996 episode of “Friends.”
It seems like a nude dress never goes out of style.
Pamela Anderson, 55, channeled her most infamous fashion moment in a fiery red dress for the premiere of her much-anticipated Netflix documentary, “Pamela: A Love Story.”
Pam hit the red carpet in a Naeem Khan Beaded Tank Gown ($5,995) reminiscent of the iconic one-piece swimsuit she wore as C.J. Parker on the ‘90s hit show, down to the sexy scoop neck.
The Playboy centerfold paired the gown with Cicada dangling diamond earrings and a Delfina Delettrez ring.
Anderson further accessorized with strappy crimson Christian Louboutin sandals.
The “Chicago” musical star even opted to bring back her messy updo from the “Baywatch” era, which experienced a resurgence last year when it was embraced by Gen Z.

“Pamcore” has been trending on TikTok recently, on the heels of the release of last year’s controversial Hulu show “Pam & Tommy,” in which Lily James played Anderson.
Anderson did not approve of the series, which detailed her leaked sex tape and volatile marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
The actress and sex symbol opens up about her first major acting gig on “Baywatch” in her documentary.
“We were having a ball. We couldn’t even believe that we were working because we were on the beach every day getting paid for this,” Anderson says in the film.
“You can watch that show with the sound off, actually,” Anderson quips in the doc. “It wasn’t actually about the storylines.”
The music superstar took the stage to accept her Favorite Pop Album win for “Red (Taylor’s Version)” dressed in a plunging crystal-covered jumpsuit by The Blonds.
While Swift, 32, may not have worn her re-recorded album’s titular hue from head to toe, she accented her AMAs look with a slick of her signature red lipstick, and played up her outfit’s disco vibes further by wearing her hair in full, flowing curls.
She accessorized with a smattering of gold and diamond jewelry from Delfina Delettrez, Anita Ko, Nouvel Heritage and Vram.
Swift is nominated for six awards this year: Artist of the Year, Favorite Music Video (for “All Too Well: The Short Film”), Favorite Female Pop Artist, Favorite Female Country Artist and both Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Country Album for “Red (Taylor’s Version).”
Ahead of the release of her 10th studio album, “Midnights,” in October, Swift dazzled in two more sequined styles: a gold Louis Vuitton gown at the Toronto Film Festival and a cutout Michael Kors LBD at the Nashville Songwriter Awards.
The “Anti-Hero” hitmaker addressed the chaotic rollout on social media shortly after, calling it “excruciating” to witness and saying, “It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.”
Held on Monday, September 12, the 2022 Emmys celebrated the best television shows and performances of the year — and Hollywood’s hottest small-screen stars hit the red carpet in some truly excellent styles.
“Euphoria” babes Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney both went for old-school glamour in Valentino and Oscar de la Renta, respectively, while Quinta Brunson and Lily James looked like goddesses in their bronze gowns.
Sequins and sparkle were a major trend — with Sandra Oh, HoYeon Jung and Reese Witherspoon among the many who opted for all-over embellishment — while Lizzo chose to let her Giambattista Valli gown’s explosion of red-hot ruffles made an impact instead.
Below, our best-dressed picks from this year’s Emmys.
Zendaya
The “Euphoria” favorite is typically quite the daring dresser, but with this bow-tied black Valentino ballgown, she proved she can do Old Hollywood elegance as well as fashion fearlessness.
Lizzo
It’s “About Damn Time” Lizzo made her Emmys debut — and in this ravishing red tulle Giambattista Valli Haute Couture confection teamed with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds, she might’ve just stolen the whole show.
Amanda Seyfried
No black turtlenecks for the star of “The Dropout” tonight! Seyfried went full “mermaid” in a shimmering lilac look by Armani Privé paired with Cartier jewels, and looked mesmerizing.
Sandra Oh
The “Killing Eve” lead’s sequined Rodarte pantsuit and matching plunging top were pure purple perfection; Cathy Waterman pieces featuring coordinating colored stones completed the look.
Sydney Sweeney
While her “Euphoria” character might favor crop tops and strappy swimsuits, Sweeney nodded to a more elegant era with this custom bustled Oscar de la Renta gown covered in metal thread work.
Quinta Brunson
The creator and star of “Abbott Elementary” made her dazzling Emmys debut in a copper-colored Dolce & Gabbana gown that fit her like a glove. Bonus points for the sheer gloves and Jared Lehr jewels, both of which matched her metallic dress.
HoYeon Jung
The stylish “Squid Game” star and model has a long history with Louis Vuitton; in 2016, she walked her first Paris Fashion Week show for the luxury label, and in 2021, she became a Vuitton ambassador. Her Emmys look by the fashion house, featuring a tweed patterned rendered in colorful sequins, was both playful and polished.
Reese Witherspoon
The “Morning Show” actress was a beauty in blue on Emmys night, accessorizing her all-over-embellished Armani Privé dress with over 210 carats of Tiffany & Co. aquamarines and blue zircons.
Julia Garner
We’re not quite sure about that midriff cutout, but there’s no denying the lush brown velvet and intricate floral embroidery on the “Ozark” star’s Gucci look are blooming beautiful.
Christina Ricci
The “Yellowjackets” actress’ slinky Fendi Couture slip was a marvel of texture, covered in top to bottom with metallic embroidered sequins that almost looked like fur or feathers; she even carried a matching clutch.
Nicholas Braun
A handful of men ditched traditional black tuxes for white ones at this year’s Emmys — but none looked better than the toweringly tall “Succession” star, who styled his double-breasted Dior Men look with Fred Leighton diamond collar clips.
