India Tablet PC Market See Rising Demand for 5G Capable Devices in Q3 2022: CMR

The tablet PC market in India grew 22 percent quarter-on-quarter in July-September with demand for 5G capable devices picking up the steam, CyberMedia Research said on Monday.

CMR anticipates the tablet PC shipments to record a healthy 10-15 percent growth in 2022.

Samsung led the market with a 28 percent market share, followed by Lenovo and Apple with 26 and 19 percent share, respectively, during the quarter.

“The India tablet market grew 22 percent quarter-on-quarter, with 5G-capable tablet shipments picking up steam in the run-up to the festive season,” CMR’s Tablet PC Market Report Review for Q3, 2022, said.

Shipment of tablets with 8-inch-display constituted 43 percent of the overall shipments in the Indian market.

“Shipments of 5G tablets continued to gain strength in Q3 2022. This is driven by the recent 5G auctions and the beginning of the 5G era. The growth in 5G Tablets is consistent with the trends seen in the 5G smartphone market,” CMR, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group, Menka Kumari said.

Samsung Tab A8 (Wi-Fi and 4G) and Tab A7 Lite (Wi-Fi and 4G) had 25 and 18 percent market share, respectively.

“Samsung shipments recorded 83 percent QoQ growth in the third quarter of 2022,” the report said.

Lenovo was placed at the second position in the entire region, mainly driven by its commercial business and retail market.

Apple iPad 9 (Wi-Fi) and Apple iPad Air 2022 (Wi-Fi) had a 57 and 15 percent market share, respectively, followed by Apple iPad Pro 2021 (Wi-Fi) 8 percent and Apple iPad Air 2022 (Wi-Fi) 6 percent in the tablet market.

“Apple iPad shipments recorded 26 percent QoQ growth in the third quarter of 2022,” the report said.

Battlefield 2042 Coming to EA Play, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in Time for Season 3

Battlefield 2042 is coming to EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. In a development update blog post, EA confirmed that starting with Season 3, its multiplayer shooter will be included as part of its own subscription service, which also comes packaged with Xbox’s high-tier gaming subscription plan. The publisher has not unveiled a release window for the next chapter, but hopes to rope in wary players, who’ve avoided the game since its troubled launch in late YEAR. In December, EA has planned free access periods across all major platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

“We’re proud of the work that we’ve done over the past 12 months and so if you haven’t jumped in yet, starting in Season 3 we’ll be introducing Battlefield 2042 into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and making the game available for subscribers with EA Play,” the post reads.

With Season 3, developer DICE will reintroduce Classes to Battlefield 2042, placing Specialists within defined roles that see them equipped with a unique set of gadgets, suited to specific situations on the field. Similar to past entries in the franchise, Classes are divided into four types: Assault is equipped with a med pen, the Engineer has a repair tool, Recon players carry an insertion beacon, and the Support types have a defibrillator at the ready, for quick revivals. This will be deployed as part of Update 3.2, scheduled for the early part of 2023, which falls during the latter half of the aforementioned Season 3 multiplayer component.

For those who can’t bothered with EA Play or Game Pass Ultimate, EA has also confirmed a free trial period across all platforms, hoping to bring boost the player base for Battlefield 2042. The game was received poorly by fans and critics alike at launch, due to the slew of glitches, rendering issues, and underuse of map segments. EA cut down development costs on several iconic aspects such as destructible environments and a campaign segment, while not bothering to iron out bugs before launch.

Here are the details for the free Battlefield 2042 trial period:

  • PC (Steam): From December 1, at 11:30pm IST/ 10am PT through to December 5, 11:30pm IST/ 10am PT
  • PS4, PS5: From December 16, at 9:30pm IST/ 8am PT through to December 23, 9:30pm IST/ 8am PT
  • Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X: From December 1, at 1:30pm IST/ 12:01am PT through to December 5, 1:29pm IST/ December 4, 11:59pm PT

EA also plans to introduce a new Specialist soon, alongside a new battle pass, events, changes to the Battlefield Portal, and several quality-of-life improvements. Battlefield 2042’s “Manifest” and “Breakaway” maps are also getting reworked in season 3, with the latter receiving a “massive overhaul.”

In September, EA established Ridgeline Games, a new studio dedicated to the Battlefield franchise, that will focus on creating a proper campaign experience. The component has been lacking in recent entries, but will see a positive shakeup under Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto’s direction, who will lead the new Seattle-based team, composed of industry veterans. The publisher first spoke about building a new campaign-focused team for Battlefield, merely weeks after 2042’s launch, completely revamping their management. At the time, Vince Zampella, CEO, Respawn Entertainment — known for Titanfall and Apex Legends — was put in charge of the series, aiming to build a “connected Battlefield universe,” exploring new experiences and stories.

Currently, there is no launch window for Battlefield 2042 Season 3, but it will be out on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate once that happens.

Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Trailer: Avalanche Software to Reveal Showcase Tonight at 11:25pm IST

Hogwarts Legacy is getting a gameplay showcase trailer tonight. Developer Avalanche Software has scheduled a YouTube premiere for 11:25pm IST/ 10am PT, promising a brand-new tour of the Hogwarts castle, alongside a deep dive into the character creation system, combat, and a first look at the general UI. The showcase will also be hosted on the official Avalanche Software Twitch channel, presented by community guest host “XpectoGo.” Originally set for a 2021 launch, Hogwarts Legacy underwent multiple delays before settling for a February 10, 2023 release date. It will be out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The last time we saw a Hogwarts Legacy showcase was during PlayStation’s September State of Play event, highlighting a console-exclusive quest, based on a shop set in the Hogsmeade village. The storyline will be available on the PS4 and PS5 versions, and adds a dungeon, a shopkeeper’s cosmetic set, and the aforementioned Hogsmeade shop. The premise follows an eerie Madame Mason, eager to sell her store to the player character, at an irresistible offer. But, there’s something amiss about her desire to sell, as the abode comes packaged with a creepy basement that leads to neverending hallways and living statues that hunt you down. In a blog post, Sony confirmed that finishing the quest rewards you with the shop in question, where you can “sell items and gear at rates better than anywhere else in-game.”

Later that same month, Avalanche Software quietly updated the FAQ section for Hogwarts Legacy, noting that the Quidditch sport will not be playable in the game. That said, broom traversal will be included, allowing players to take flight and explore the far ends of the magic-laden castle. A Quidditch pitch was included in an earlier trailer for the game, featuring what appeared to be the player character donned in the appropriate gear. While the developers have not confirmed a reason for this change, perhaps we would still be able to watch AI matches from the house Grandstands. At this point, we cannot be sure. Other modes of airborne traversal include magical beasts — hippogriffs and dragons — which can be tamed and ridden upon in Hogwarts Legacy.

Set in the 1800s, long before the Chosen One — Harry Potter — was born let alone stepped foot at the wizarding school, Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive open-world RPG that lets you create custom witches and wizards, and embark on a whimsical journey through the mystical castle and the surrounding, dense Forbidden Forest. You’re presented with a deep set of upgrades and talents to aid in progression, whilst taking lessons to hone your skills in Herbology, Potions, Charms, and more. Last month, the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter handle dropped details on its Imperio curse, which canonically grants the spell-caster total control over their subject. In the game, however, the curse will temporarily force enemies to fight alongside you as allies. While under the spell’s control, they take reduced damage, whereas, once it has lifted, you’ll be able to eliminate them quickly, thanks to a debuff.

Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10, 2023, across all major platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development, but there are no release details for the same.

Starfield Dialogue Amount Is Four Times That of Skyrim’s, Persuasion System Returns

Starfield’s amount of dialogue is over quadruple that of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda has dropped an interview with its director Todd Howard, addressing some of the questions fans had about the upcoming space-set RPG — specifically, the dialogue system. Howard revealed that Starfield had passed 250,000 lines of dialogue, with NPCs emoting as per the tone. In comparison, the critically-acclaimed Skyrim boasts 60,000 lines of dialogue. Howard also hinted at the return of Persuasion, a common conversational tool seen in the classic Fallout and The Elder Scrolls titles. Starfield is slated to launch in early 2023 across PC and Xbox Series S/X.

Bethesda games are regarded for their dialogue system, letting you pick between choices, in turn, affecting an NPCs outlook on your character. Fallout 3, for instance, makes use of your Charisma and Luck traits, to determine whether you succeed in a speech event. Higher the charisma, the higher the chances of you being able to smooth talk out of situations. With Starfield, Howard claims that a similar Persuasion feature will be the crux of conversations. Players will have to spend points to gain an edge, and persuade NPCs for some kind of favours.

The Starfield dialogue choices are laid out in a similar format to Fallout 3, where you cycle through a list — only this time, there’s a points system attached to it. The now-unlisted interview features a speech challenge, with the +1 option being passive, and +5 leaning towards an aggressive approach. With Starfield, Howard notes that he’s going for a classic Bethesda approach, where you can judge the characters’ facial expressions in first-person, and pick apt dialogues. “The scope of the game, the amount of content we’re making is a bit more than we’ve done before, in terms of quest and things like that,” Howard explained in the video. As stated before, Starfield has passed 250,000 lines of dialogue, double that of Fallout 4 (111,000) and 4x that of Skyrim (60,000).

Howard also briefly mentioned the Starfield character traits system, which could be altered throughout the game. Every trait comes with a negative effect, which can be eliminated by completing quests. This allows Starfield players to grow and experiment with their avatar, instead of restarting their journey. “Each of them are something like that — you can solve, that removes the entire trait for the rest of your playthrough,” he added.

Starfield marks the first new universe from Bethesda in 25 years, taking players on a futuristic journey, as they explore 2330 outer space, its planets, and inhabitants. From humble beginnings as a space miner, the player will join Constellation — the last group of space explorers seeking rare artefacts throughout the galaxy.

A Starfield gameplay trailer from June revealed that Starfield would feature over a thousand explorable planets, from barren lands to places that inhabit peculiar wildlife. It draws heavy parallels to No Man’s Sky, in a sense, letting you upgrade spacecraft, mine resources, and travel the far reaches of the galaxy.

Starfield is scheduled to launch in early 2023, on PC and Xbox Series S/X. No PlayStation release since Microsoft acquired Bethesda last year, in a $7.5 billion (about Rs. 61,791 crore) deal, making it a console exclusive.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Will Require Phone Number Verification Like Overwatch 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will require mobile number verification. A newly updated article on the Battle.net website claims that players are required to register with a phone number to play the game. The verification system, which Blizzard Entertainment likes to call SMS Protect, is aimed at cutting down on toxic behaviour from players and multiple free accounts. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launches on October 28 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

A similar practice caused issues for Overwatch 2 players, last week, where players reported being locked out of their Battle.net accounts. More specifically, those on prepaid mobile plans. A separate support page on the Battle.net website notes details regarding phone number verification, which states: “Mobile phones with prepaid plans may not work with the phone notification service.” As reports started piling up, Blizzard eventually eased the restrictions for players who had been signed up to Battle.net for more than a year. New players, however, will be required to add their numbers.

“We remain committed to combating disruptive behaviour in Overwatch 2 — accounts that were not connected to Battle.net, as well as new accounts, will still have to meet SMS Protect requirements,” So now, the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 joins this verification practice, alongside any “newly created” Modern Warfare accounts. The page further states that notifications will only be text-message/ SMS based. Meaning, you can’t set it up for other two-factor authentication (2FA) apps like Authy, Google Authenticator, and their ilk. Furthermore, you can’t receive two-factor codes on VoIP services, be it iMessage or WhatsApp.

A PC Gamer report from last week noted that some Modern Warfare 2 beta players were getting locked out of their accounts, for having a prepaid mobile number. “This seems very wrong to require videogame players to enter into a contract with a telecom company before being allowed to play the game they paid for,” its source said. “Especially when prepaid phone plans like mine are becoming more and more common.”

Phone number authentication for games isn’t a new practice, as games like Rainbow Six Siege and Dota 2 have managed to implement it flawlessly. Even Counter-Strike: Global Offensive made this a common practice, requiring players to create a Prime account, in order to combat hackers and smurfs. For the uninitiated, smurfs are generally high-ranking players, who create multiple accounts, and disrupt low-tier matches for amusement. Think of it like a burner phone. Requesting a mobile number, however, restricts the account to one. Unless you’re carrying around multiple SIM cards — a common practice in India.

Neither of these multiplayer games has asked for a postpaid mobile number, which paints Blizzard’s requirements in a bad light. It’ll be interesting to see how this fares in a market like India, where 9 out of 10 people on average have a prepaid number. Furthermore, it is unclear if the practice applies to everyone on PC, given that Modern Warfare 2 is available on both Steam and Battle.net.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28, across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Digital pre-orders grant early access to the campaign segment, starting October 20.

Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series S/X in January 2023

Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable are coming to modern consoles next year. In a tweet, developer Atlus confirmed that its two critically-acclaimed JRPGs are headed to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, in January 2023. While the promotional image only notes Microsoft platforms and Xbox Game Pass, Atlus had previously guaranteed their arrival on other consoles too. Persona 4 Golden has been up on the Steam marketplace since 2020, and even got verified for the Steam Deck, earlier this year.

Following its original launch in 2006, Persona 3 was ported to the PSP — with new story elements — making it accessible to players worldwide. Under the new banner, “Persona 3 Portable,” it marked the first and only time possible to play as a female protagonist, as you joined the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), and investigate the Dark Hour — a time anomaly set between night and day. In addition to fighting Shadows in the Tartarus realm, players can partake in slice-of-life events, where they form social links with other characters, granting experience bonuses.

Persona 4 Golden has been the more accessible entry, first launching on the PlayStation Vita, and later on PC. Regarded as one of the greatest games of all time, it expands upon the traditional JRPG elements, by letting the protagonist explore life as they see fit. When not fighting Shadows in the bizarre “TV World,” players can join school clubs, work part-time jobs, and form bonds with other NPCs. This would be the first time either game is headed to Xbox consoles, and will be available day one via Game Pass.

To help with the wait, Atlus is releasing Persona 5 Royal on October 21, across all major platforms. At launch, this refined version will include all 45 previously-released DLC for free, which packages new costumes, storylines, and Raoul, a full-fledged new Persona, for use in-game. As a regular student, the player must attend classes and participate in extracurricular activities, while moonlighting as a Phantom Thief, infiltrating corrupt adult minds. The game will also feature a Metaverse Navigator, letting you scale walls and vault over obstacles, simplifying the Treasure hunting process.

Furthermore, Atlus confirmed it has a Persona 5 Royal card game planned for next year. The studio will partner with Pandasaurus Games for publication, and is slated to release in Q4 2023. “Players will take on the roles of their favourite Phantom Thieves and fight to change the world in this cooperative card-based strategy game,” renowned board game designer, Emerson Matsuuchi said in a prepared statement.

Both Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable launch January 19, 2023, across PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

Dead Space Remake Gameplay Trailer Showcases a Talking Isaac Clark, Overhauled Visuals

Dead Space remake just got a gameplay trailer. Following a tense YouTube countdown, EA Motive finally premiered raw footage for the upcoming space-set survival-horror game — and it’s as haunting as you first remember it from 2008. Built completely from the ground up, the remake revisits the claustrophobic confines of the USG Ishimura ship, as players step into the shoes of the beloved alien hunting engineer, Isaac Clark. Dead Space remake launches January 27, 2023, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. There’s no word on a last-gen console release.

A distress call kicks off the Dead Space remake gameplay trailer, tasking Clark with getting the mining ship USG Ishimura back online. “Fix the centrifuge. Get the fuel running,” says an unidentified voice over the radio. While a quick repair job is expected, something more sinister appears to be affecting the ship — the engines, hull, and trams have been completely destroyed. The Dead Space trailer then flashes into a montage, highlighting the overwhelmed medical department, whose members now seem to be possessed by a foreign parasite, banging their heads against a wall, losing consciousness, and afflicted by seizures.

To a novice, the Dead Space remake trailer might look like it’s drawing heavy parallels to the upcoming The Callisto Protocol game — thanks to its gritty nature and the bloody survival tips smeared onto walls. But in reality, the original 2008 game was helmed by Glen Schofield, who now leads development on the latter. This means that there are no stolen concepts or odd conspiracies. The Dead Space remake trailer then cuts to show the horrors of an alien invasion — piles of dead bodies, bloody handprints, and an echoing silence that adds to the tension.

We are then treated to a first look at the Necromorph, sporting sharp claws the length of a walking cane, that drops down when Clark least suspects it. As one of the bloody tips from earlier suggested, shooting the creature’s limbs is the best way to slow them down, reducing them to zombie-like creatures that are forced to crawl around on the floor. There are also glimpses of varying forms of combat, as Clark curb stomps Necromorphs, sets them ablaze, and electrocutes them into tiny pieces of grotesque flesh. Also, did I mention that our protagonist is no longer silent?

In its latest developer blog post, EA Motive spoke about Dead Space remake’s presentation, stressing the camera aspect, which draws inspiration from 2018’s God of War. The entire game is touted to play as a single scene, featuring zero cuts, upping the fear aspect to another level. Furthermore, the remake will try modernising the story, with bits of lore picked up from Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3, in addition to details from the comic books.

Dead Space remake launches January 27, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms.

Company of Heroes 3 Release Date Delayed to February 2023

Company of Heroes 3 release date has been delayed by three months. On Tuesday, Sega and Relic Entertainment announced that their upcoming war-themed, real-time strategy game has been pushed to February 23, 2023. The title was initially set to launch on November 11, but it requires more time for polish. As part of the announcement, the studio detailed a set of new features, based on community feedback, including changes to the map, improved voice lines, and a cleaner HUD. Company of Heroes 3 will be out exclusively on PC via Steam.

Unlike most AAA developers, Relic Entertainment is quite forthright about its reasoning for the delay. “There are still bugs to squash, pixels to polish, gameplay to adjust, and feedback to address,” the statement reads. On its official website, the studio has kept its community updated on all fronts of development — even adding a comment section for fans to react. Right from the get-go, community interaction has played a major role in shaping Company of Heroes 3 to its full potential. Dating back to the formation of a community council, three years ago, Relic Entertainment has kept top players from around the world in the loop, helping lay the foundation for the upcoming game.

“When we brought in our ten players, and sat them down, we put on the board: ‘Hey, what theatre would you guys want?’ And we all agreed that we wanted a new theatre, we didn’t want to revisit the Western Front or the Eastern Front,” executive producer David Littman told PC Gamer. “So really, the only two things left were the Mediterranean and Pacific. We put them both on the board, and it was just 10-0. Mediterranean over Pacific.” Members have been able to playtest Company of Heroes 3 to their hearts’ content, and offer valuable feedback.

Company of Heroes 3 tosses players into the Mediterranean, as they command ground, air, and naval forces to battle, and crush enemy lines. Pre-ordering the game — at Rs. 3,399 on Steam — grants access to the Devil’s Brigade DLC pack, which adds a slew of cosmetics inspired by the first commando units of World War II. With the aforementioned delay, Relic Entertainment has also detailed some much-requested changes to the game.

For starters, the Dynamic Campaign map in Company of Heroes 3 will feature UI improvements and a more aggressive AI, making encounters all the more challenging. Visual enhancements include shader and FX technology, which ensures that vehicles collect more dirt and grime with time, impact damage, scratches, and burn effects depending on your progression on the battlefield. Then there’s clearer mini-map information, better camera positioning, improvements to upgrade trees, clean HUD, and more. Further information will be shared on a weekly basis.

Company of Heroes 3 now launches February 23, 2023, exclusively on PC via Steam. Currently, there is no word on a tie-up between Relic/Sega and Microsoft that could bring the game day one to PC Game Pass.

The Callisto Protocol Gets New Trailer, Starring Karen Fukuhara From The Boys

The Callisto Protocol just got an in-engine trailer, ahead of its launch on December 2. The new footage from developer Striking Distance Studios focuses on the thematic and story aspects, in addition to introducing a new character, played by Karen Fukuhara — mainly known for her role in the Prime Video series, The Boys. The title will be supported with patches for at least one year, with DLC investments planned for later. The Callisto Protocol launches across all major platforms — PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox One.

From the creators of Dead Space, the trailer for The Callisto Protocol is fashioned after a survival horror game, as you embark on a deadly trip through an intergalactic space sewage system. Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the tear 2320, players assume the role of Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel), a victim of fate, thrown into the Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary. Mysterious events cause inmates to transform into monstrous, zombie-like creatures, tasking Jacob with battling his way through and in the process, uncovering a conspiracy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Overwatch 2, the Biggest Games Launching in October

Appropriately titled “The Truth of Black Iron,” The Callisto Protocol trailer hints at a treason — supposedly causing tentacled alien parasites to breach the prison and ensure bloodshed. “It’s like someone’s trying to cover up what’s happening here,” Jacob tells Fukuhara’s unnamed character, while we are treated to notes from dead prisoners. It is implied that the arrival of the extraterrestrials caused the living colony to vacate the moon, leaving behind inmates in the cramped holding cells — essentially turning into a wasteland. The trailer offers a brief glimpse at its evolution/ turning process, where the parasite bites into and possesses a host body, assuming a hostile form.

Besides guns, players are equipped with an assortment of melee weapons and telekinesis, letting you grab enemies from a distance, and chuck them into sharp razors and heavy doors. Just like Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol heavily relies on dismemberment, letting you rip through limbs, upping the ESRB rating to Mature 17+. The game will come with ray-tracing support, in addition to AMD’s FSR 2.0 (Fidelity Super Resolution), which uses a temporal upscaling solution to boost framerates.

The Callisto Protocol launches December 2, across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms, except on Epic Games Store.

Iron Man Game Confirmed to Be in Development at EA’s Motive Studio

An Iron Man video game is confirmed to be in development at Electronic Arts. In a blog post, the publisher announced that its Montreal-based EA Motive Studio is working on a single-player, third-person action-adventure game, based on the titular Marvel superhero. Now in early development, the Iron Man title will feature an original narrative that “taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channelling” the personas of the armoured hero and the charismatic genius Tony Stark. Currently, there’s no word on which platforms will be supported when the game is released.

“It’s an honour and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic super heroes in entertainment today,” said Olivier Proulx, Executive Producer. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.” Proulx, who previously worked on the critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, leads development on the upcoming Iron Man game.

The announcement aligns with a previous leak, which stated that EA was working on the said video game. While there are no concrete details on the plot, the description hints that the game serves as a lens into Stark’s complexity and “charisma.” That said, there’s a good chance such moments will be scripted, taking into account Proulx’s past experience, which involved linear storytelling. At this point, who knows. Hopefully, we get to play as Stark while he’s held up in his laboratory — akin to how WB Games Montréal incorporates its ensemble characters in the upcoming Gotham Knights game.

Motive Studio is currently actively working on a Dead Space remake, scheduled for a January 2023 launch. The blog post’s end also notes more collaborative projects between Marvel and EA. “This is an exciting new collaboration between Marvel and Electronic Arts, with Iron Man being the first of several new games,” it reads. This could very well be in reference to the open-world Black Panther game, leaked back in July.

Internally, that Black Panther game is being referred to as Project Rainer, with ex-Monolith Productions VP Kevin Stephens headlining development. As per games journalist Jeff Grubb, the premise is set following Black Panther’s death at the beginning. Players will then be tasked with completing a set of challenges — or trials — in hopes of becoming the new incarnation and king of Wakanda.

Currently, there are no details on a release window or platforms for EA’s Iron Man game, as it’s still in the early stages of development. But we could speculate that the game will be released on all major platforms — PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows PC.
