Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Teases ‘Hundreds’ of Builds, Post-Launch Content

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is merely weeks away from launch and ahead of that, Rocksteady has teased ‘hundreds’ of build possibilities for its lead characters. The details come from the game’s official Discord server, where director Axel Rydby explained that the endgame portion was based around complete Mastery, forcing players to switch out builds based on rising difficulty. It’s too early to tell whether one could easily plough through fights with an overpowered build they found in the early game, but the developer has promised eight loadout slots for easy access to gear — all of which trigger unique status effects and can be upgraded.

“We really want you to feel like you can make each character your own, and build it to suit your playstyle,” Rydby said. “But if you take the leap and really play into the gear, you can find truly crazy powerful combinations.” Rocksteady is using the term ‘Afflictions’ to refer to status effects, created by popular DC Comics character Poison Ivy, whose revival was teased via an easter egg in Batman: Arkham Knight. Players will be able to imbue Deep Freeze onto their weapons to discharge icy damage to oncoming hordes, use the Diablo Blaze to burn them to smithereens, or use something called Venom Frenzy to lay out chaos, which I’m guessing is based on Bane’s abilities. Then there’s post-launch content, which brings in game-breaking combinations. Ivy herself is a ‘precocious toddler’ now, bearing genetically engineered toxic powers, but barely any memory of Task Force X. She died at the hands of Scarecrow’s toxins in the previous game and was reborn as a new flower.

Game Director Axel Rydby offers in-depth details about the build system

Each character — Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang — comes with their separate Talent Tree, with unique skills tailored to their personality. Harley’s tree is composed of acrobatic moves for better traversal across Metropolis and explosion-based weaponry, whereas Deadshot’s is filled with critical damage skills that help you shoot the most precise and deadly bullets. Meanwhile, King Shark is melee-based, while the Australian loudmouth Captain Boomerang can blink around the map to get in and out of enemy range quickly. Regardless of what champion you pick, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League functions like a generic looter-shooter where the larger gameplay revolves around firearms. And while Rocksteady refrains from calling it a live-service game, all the elements are still there — a battle pass full of cosmetics, heavy grinding, and plans for progressive post-launch content.

This shift from making beloved single-player Batman games to a Games as a Service approach could have to do with parent company Warner Bros. trying to turn its biggest franchises into long-term products by encouraging buyers to play the same game for months on end. It’s an attitude that has been received poorly by gamers, and rightfully so. Elsewhere, a recent Bloomberg report confirmed that despite rumours of a failed Superman game pitch, Rocksteady was never making one. In fact, following 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight, the studio worked on the Batman VR game and an unreported multiplayer game based on an original franchise. Currently, it’s unclear whether that title is still under production.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches February 2 across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Hogwarts Legacy Sold Over 22 Million Copies in 2023, WB Claims; More Harry Potter Games in Development

Hogwarts Legacy, the RPG set within the Potterverse, sold over 22 million copies in 2023. Speaking to Variety, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad claimed that it was the best-selling game of the said year and that about 2 million of those sales were made during the Christmas holiday season, presumably owing to heavy discounts. Despite his statement, several developers in the industry, including Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate 3) and Activision (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3) have yet to reveal the latest sales numbers; so, take the claims with a grain of salt.

“It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story,” Haddad said in the interview. “And that’s what the team at Avalanche set out to do when they were developing the game and I think that’s really why it resonated so well and remains the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide.” Going forward, WB will continue betting on well-established franchises and using its namesake to generate better sales. In fact, CEO David Zaslav touched upon this in November, with plans to heavily veer into a live service model that would transform the company’s biggest names into long-term products, dropping new content regularly and deep monetisation. This also includes free-to-play mobile games and MultiVersus, the fighting game featuring characters from WB properties, which is expected to undergo a full launch this year.

Launched in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy got off to a great start, with players worldwide discovering secrets, while developer Avalanche enjoyed staggering sales, partly bolstered by the drama revolving around the boycott of author J.K. Rowling. Although the interest gradually decreased in the following months — the game failed to earn a single nomination at The Game Awards 2023 — WB still seems hellbent on expanding its Harry Potter portfolio with its Quidditch Champions game, which underwent a closed playtest last year. The magical sport was not included in Hogwarts Legacy, so it would be interesting to see how it plays out as a multiplayer entry. Could the company try to make it a live service affair? Only time will tell. Regardless, there are plans for more Harry Potter spin-off games.

So far, wizards around the world have brewed 819 million potions, harvested 1.3 billion magical plants, bested 4.9 billion dark wizards in combat, and rescued 593 million fantastical beasts in Hogwarts Legacy. As per Haddad, another key area of success was NetherRealm Studios’ latest fighting game Mortal Kombat 1, which he alluded to have garnered more players than any other entry in the fighter franchise in its ‘30-plus year history.’ Selling 3 million copies as of November, the fighting game featured some aggressive microtransactions — something gamers have always shown a dislike for. WB Games’ upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League also falls under the live service umbrella, causing longtime fans of developer Rocksteady to be sceptical of it.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.

Warner Bros. Says It Will Transform Its Biggest Franchises Into Live Service Games

Warner Bros. will be heavily veering into a live service model for its future games. During its latest Q3 earnings call, CEO David Zaslav confirmed that the company plans to transform its biggest video game franchises into long-term products, bolstered by regular content drops and heavy monetisation. In recent years, gamers have developed a distaste for such money-hungry practices, which often lock out content behind some form of paywall or a battle pass, instead of providing a complete game at launch. The idea is for players to keep playing WB-published games for months, instead of having AAA developers put out a new game every three to four years — which is the general cycle.

“Ultimately we want to drive engagement and monetization of longer cycles and at higher levels,” Zaslav said during the call. “We are currently under scale and see significant opportunity to generate greater post-purchase revenue.” It’s an ironic statement considering the backlash Rocksteady Studios received when it debuted the gameplay trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, following which the game was delayed. While the studio claimed that it needed more time to ensure polish at launch, several reports suggested that it was being pushed into next year due to the inclusion of live-service elements. The developer was known for creating standalone, single-player Batman experiences through its Arkham series of games, but its latest title took a complete detour indicating heavy grinding for loot and gear, alongside purchasable cosmetic items.

What’s worse is that while the entire main cast of the Suicide Squad game — Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark — have unique abilities, by default, they are all armed with firearms and seem to play the same. The gameplay loop includes hunting down mobs and bosses in repeated succession, taking a generic looter-shooter approach. In fact, Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood also followed a similar always-online games-as-a-service pattern but eventually ran out of content. Gotham Knights was always marketed as a single-player/ co-op story game, but take one look at its menu and run around town beating up thugs, and you’ll immediately realise that the originally laid groundwork for progression was for a live-service game. It seems like developer WB Games Montréal noticed how poorly Square Enix’s Avengers game fared and decided to change plans midway through. And let’s not forget Middle-earth: Shadow of War, whose microtransactions were entirely removed following player feedback.

The aforementioned games were all published by Warner Bros. and therefore, should serve as a cautionary tale. However, CEO Zaslav is doubling down on these practices, despite noting how well Hogwarts Legacy performed from a sales and critical perspective — 700 million collective hours played till date. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 1, which featured some aggressive microtransactions, sold 3 million copies. The executive appears to be relying on these success stories to chart a new course for its video games division, instead of looking at failures and understanding why it failed. Developers who create single-player games are not the same as those adept in multiplayer/ live-service experiences, and vice versa.

Earlier this year, WB launched the beta version of MultiVersus, a free-to-play crossover fighting game that brought in characters from various self-owned properties like Game of Thrones, Batman, Superman, and more. It also featured a battle pass for cosmetic items. The game’s servers were shut down in June due to a diminishing player count. It is slated to launch sometime in 2024, but we’ll have to wait and see if it materialises.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Delayed to February 2024

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed yet again. In a tweet, developer Rocksteady Studios confirmed that its upcoming DC Comics looter-shooter has been pushed to a February 2, 2024 release date. Reports from last month suggested that the game was being delayed until later this year, following fan backlash from a PlayStation State of Play event for the game, showcasing detailed gameplay and a live service model. But it seems like the team needs a lot more time to ensure a polished experience at launch. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally slated for a May 26 release and will now arrive nine months later — which at first might seem like a long time for polish, but as per Bloomberg games reporter Jason Schreier, it’s “actually normal these days.”

“We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players,” the statement from Rocksteady Studios reads. “Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience, and understanding.” The developer added that it’s got much more to share in the coming months, but as mentioned before, there won’t be any changes to the core mechanics. For the uninitiated, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League showcased some raw gameplay last month, featuring elements that aligned with a live service game and a battle pass system, which according to the studio, will only unlock cosmetic items. Since the game has you play as members of Task Force X — Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark — it also felt odd that they were all equally equipped with guns, instead of having unique kits and movesets.

The generally negative reception stems from the outdated design philosophy and Rocksteady’s history, which is known for making single-player grounded narratives based on Batman’s mythos. The Suicide Squad game will instead focus on four-player co-op — akin to Marvel’s Avengers — albeit a solo mode is included as well, where your remaining squad gets taken control of by bots. It was previously confirmed that none of these mechanics will change and that the additional time will be used for bug fixing and optimisation. “Nine months is not enough time to completely change the nature of a game,” games reporter Schreier tweeted. “Folks are surprised a dev would take nine extra months to polish a game, but that’s actually normal these days. (Nine years between games: less normal.)” The latter is referring to Rocksteady’s development cycle — their last project was Batman: Arkham Knight, released in 2015.

Schreier also notes that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releasing in September could also have been a factor for this delay, so as to not risk direct competition. The release window for the PS5-exclusive was never officially confirmed by Insomniac Games, but Tony Todd, the Venom voice actor on the title, revealed it last month, via Twitter. Server stability on the Suicide Squad game should also be taken into account since co-op is a key component and you’d also require a continuous internet connection. Meaning, even if you choose to play by yourself, the game simply will not launch unless it detects an internet connection.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will now release February 2, 2024, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Delayed Once Again After Fan Backlash: Report

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has reportedly been delayed again. As per Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, WB Games has pushed its upcoming DC Comics looter-shooter out of its May 26 launch date to sometime “later this year.” The news comes after a recent PlayStation showcase of the title, which was received poorly by fans, due to developer Rocksteady Studios’ pivot to a live-service model, rather than the single-player Batman storylines they’re known for. However, Schreier’s source confirmed that the delay has to do with fixing bugs and ensuring a polish at launch, and that the fan backlash won’t affect the core gameplay.

For what it’s worth, this reported delay like this is good for Rocksteady’s latest, which was on track to compete against behemoths like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May 12), Street Fighter 6 (June 2), and Diablo IV (June 6). The delay rids Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League of any major competition, and lets it shine in a safer spot. The game was initially set for release last year but got delayed for optimisation reasons. The State of Play presentation from last month confirmed suspicions and leaks, which suggested that the game featured some kind of a battle pass system and menu elements that aligned with a live-service title. All unlocks will be purely cosmetic and Rocksteady promises to continue supporting the game long after launch by introducing new playable characters, missions, and weapons. The studio claims that the new content will be available at no extra cost. There are no loot boxes either.

In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, you pick from four key Task Force X characters — Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark — and set off on a mission to thwart the Justice League members who have succumbed to Brainiac’s mind control. While a four-player co-op system is the focus, the game can be played in solo mode as well, while the remaining squad is taken over by AI/ bots. However, the game’s FAQ page confirmed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will require a continuously running internet connection. This means, even if you choose to play by yourself, the game simply won’t launch unless it detects an internet connection. It does appear strong on the co-op front though, even offering support for full cross-platform at launch. While a PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership isn’t needed to run the game on console, it will be required for online co-op.

For the uninitiated, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set within the Arkhamverse, unlike another WB Games-published co-op title Gotham Knights, which dropped last year. In addition to the core content, that game heavily lacked in terms of optimisation, causing performance issues on PC while the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions were locked at 30fps.

That said, WB Games’ first title of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has been a massive success, selling over 12 million copies within the first two weeks of launch. An impressive milestone, considering the amount of online discourse it generated in regard to J.K. Rowling’s controversial views. The studio Avalanche Software is currently hard at work on the old-gen PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, which were recently delayed to May 5.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated for release later this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Hogwarts Legacy PS4 and Xbox One Versions Delayed to May 5

Hogwarts Legacy’s PS4 and Xbox One versions have been delayed yet again. In a tweet, studio Avalanche Software confirmed that the versions of the open-world Harry Potter RPG for previous-gen consoles will now release on May 5, in an effort to deliver the “best possible experience on all platforms.” All versions were originally meant to launch on February 10, but these ports were delayed to April 4 last year and have now been postponed again. Currently, there is no word on any further delay for the Nintendo Switch version, which is likely still on track to release on July 25.

While Avalanche Software has not explicitly stated what the extra month of development time will be used for, we can assume that it is for better optimisation on the outdated specs of the PS4 and Xbox One. Since its launch, there have been multiple reports of microstutters and lighting glitches that cause Hogwarts Legacy on PC to get too dark or bright, on occasion. It is quite possible that such performance issues have also been affecting the experience on last-gen consoles in testing.

For what it’s worth, it’s nice that the developers aren’t giving up on these versions of Hogwarts Legacy yet, given that this seems to be an easy solution. Another WB Games-published title Gotham Knights comes to mind — the team outright cancelled previous-gen versions midway through development.

Late last month, publisher WB Games confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million copies in the two weeks since its release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. That figure makes it the biggest game launch for the company. Hogwarts Legacy has also dominated the Twitch charts, peaking at 1.28 million concurrent players and becoming the no.1 single-player game on the streaming platform. Its impact has been nothing short of surreal, and has even been seen on the Wizarding World website — the official destination for all Potterheads — which saw 300 percent higher traffic than usual in the early days of February, as per Warner Bros. Discovery. That being said, the developer has no stated plans to capitalise on the hype by releasing any DLC yet — besides patches — as it continues to work on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions.

Set in the 1800s, long before the Chosen One was born, Hogwarts Legacy puts you in the shoes of a fifth-year witch/ wizard who possesses the rare ability to see and tap into ancient magic. While on the run from a hostile goblin, you must juggle between responsibilities — attending classes at the iconic magic-laden castle, exploring the dense Forbidden Forest, learning to make potions, and fighting Dark wizards and hostile creatures that cross your path. Quidditch has been cancelled for the year, as per lore, but you can still fly around the world on broomsticks.

Hogwarts Legacy on the PS4 and Xbox One is now set to release on May 5. The Switch version is currently on schedule for a July 25 launch.

Mortal Kombat 12 Confirmed by Warner Bros., Scheduled for 2023 Release

Mortal Kombat 12 is coming this year. During its quarterly earnings call, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed the existence of the highly-anticipated fighter sequel with “ambitious launch projections.” NetherRealm Studios has remained quite secretive about this project. But in June, Andrew Bowen, voice actor for Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat games, tweeted a video of him at the Warner Bros. parking lot. This caused fans to assume that a new iteration was in development, though director Ed Boon later told IGN that it was for a separate project. With Warner Bros. themselves announcing the game now, it seems Boon was lying after all.

“And there’s lots more to come, including the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League — games also set to release this year, with ambitious launch projections,” Andrew Slabin, Executive VP, WBD, said in the earnings call. Creator Boon also jokingly acknowledged the silent announcement on Twitter asking people if they had heard any news about Injustice 3. Both are developed by NetherRealm Studios. While fans were expecting to see the Injustice threequel as well, games journalist Jeff Grubb shut it down in 2021, claiming that the studio was prioritising the next Mortal Kombat game. At the time, NetherRealm’s future with publisher WB Games seemed uncertain, as overall owner AT&T was looking to sell sections of its gaming business.

“It lines up with the reality and it lines up with what I’ve heard, where Mortal Kombat 12 would make the most sense because that’s a game they know will make money, it will sell well…”, Grubb said on his GiantBomb show. “At the same time, you don’t have to use any of these Batman or Superman characters that might be tied up in licensing if you try to get rid of NetherRealm or sell it to whoever.” Since 2013, NetherRealm has alternated between releasing Injustice and Mortal Kombat. However, going for the latter made sense and was safer since director Boon essentially created the Mortal Kombat franchise and its characters. Meanwhile, DC Comics and its characters are owned by Warner Bros. and it would have caused licensing issues at the time. Even more so, if NetherRealm was sold off to another publisher midway through Injustice 3’s development.

2023 promises to be an exciting year for fighting game fans, as the aforementioned Mortal Kombat 12 will go up against Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. In our 8/10 review of Mortal Kombat 11, we criticised its repetitive formula that follows a similar style to the Injustice games but offers a lot more control. “It stands out as the best entry in the new trilogy and presents you with a lot to explore, learn and even master.”

If things go as planned, Mortal Kombat 12 is likely to release on all major platforms — PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Moreover, expecting an old-gen PS4 and Xbox One release isn’t far-fetched, given it’s a competitive esports franchise.

Hogwarts Legacy PC System Requirements Announced Ahead of Release

Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software has dropped PC system requirements for the game ahead of its February 10 release. While the specifications aren’t as demanding as Gotham Knights, the studio highly recommends that you install the game, which takes up 85GB of storage space, on an SSD. There’s also a mild inconsistency with regard to the memory (RAM) required to run the game. Even when paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 graphics card, Hogwarts Legacy on PC demands a minimum of 16GB of RAM to run at the lowest setting — at 720p resolution and 30fps framerate.

A spec sheet for Medium settings isn’t explicitly mentioned, but the jump to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti card for High-quality presets suggests that rigs packing something around a GTX 1060 should run Hogwarts Legacy just fine. The card also happens to be one of the most popular graphics cards, as per Steam’s Hardware Survey. Furthermore, Hogwarts Legacy will be relying on Denuvo’s anti-piracy measure — like other WB Games titles — which has earned a reputation for crippling game performance on PC. Gotham Knights, a recent WB Games title, suffered from heavy performance issues at launch, where the developers were forced to briefly remove the DRM protection to resolve it. Unfortunately, this led to pirates creating multiple free copies of the title.

Hogwarts Legacy PC system requirements

Hogwarts Legacy’s PC specs list comes directly from the developer, with a Windows 10 64-bit operating system and 85GB of available storage space being a common requirement.

Hogwarts Legacy ‘minimum’ PC requirements

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
  • Graphics (GPU): Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470
  • RAM: 16GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Resolution: 1,280 x 720 at 30fps, at Low Quality settings

Hogwarts Legacy ‘recommended/ high’ PC requirements

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Graphics (GPU): Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770
  • RAM: 16GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 at 60fps, at High Quality settings

Hogwarts Legacy ‘ultra’ PC requirements

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Graphics (GPU): Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • RAM: 32GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Resolution: 2,560 x 1,440 at 60fps, at Ultra Quality settings

Hogwarts Legacy ‘ultra 4K’ PC requirements

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Graphics (GPU): Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
  • RAM: 32GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Resolution: 4K at 60fps, at Ultra Quality settings

Set in the 1800s, Hogwarts Legacy has you create your own custom witch or wizard and play through an immersive RPG, as you learn spells, battle dark wizards, and explore familiar locales such as the dense Forbidden Forest. Players will be able to hone their skills in herbology, potions, and other fields, and upgrade their talents to become the ultimate wizard. Earlier this week, its studio announced the voice cast lineup, which includes the likes of Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) as Hogwarts Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black, ancestor of Sirius Black. Lesley Nicol of Downton Abbey fame was also cast as Professor Matilda Weasley, the Deputy Headmistress.

Hogwarts Legacy comes out February 10 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Last-gen version on PS4 and Xbox One has been delayed to April 4, while Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until July 25.

Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Trailer: Avalanche Software to Reveal Showcase Tonight at 11:25pm IST

Hogwarts Legacy is getting a gameplay showcase trailer tonight. Developer Avalanche Software has scheduled a YouTube premiere for 11:25pm IST/ 10am PT, promising a brand-new tour of the Hogwarts castle, alongside a deep dive into the character creation system, combat, and a first look at the general UI. The showcase will also be hosted on the official Avalanche Software Twitch channel, presented by community guest host “XpectoGo.” Originally set for a 2021 launch, Hogwarts Legacy underwent multiple delays before settling for a February 10, 2023 release date. It will be out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The last time we saw a Hogwarts Legacy showcase was during PlayStation’s September State of Play event, highlighting a console-exclusive quest, based on a shop set in the Hogsmeade village. The storyline will be available on the PS4 and PS5 versions, and adds a dungeon, a shopkeeper’s cosmetic set, and the aforementioned Hogsmeade shop. The premise follows an eerie Madame Mason, eager to sell her store to the player character, at an irresistible offer. But, there’s something amiss about her desire to sell, as the abode comes packaged with a creepy basement that leads to neverending hallways and living statues that hunt you down. In a blog post, Sony confirmed that finishing the quest rewards you with the shop in question, where you can “sell items and gear at rates better than anywhere else in-game.”

Later that same month, Avalanche Software quietly updated the FAQ section for Hogwarts Legacy, noting that the Quidditch sport will not be playable in the game. That said, broom traversal will be included, allowing players to take flight and explore the far ends of the magic-laden castle. A Quidditch pitch was included in an earlier trailer for the game, featuring what appeared to be the player character donned in the appropriate gear. While the developers have not confirmed a reason for this change, perhaps we would still be able to watch AI matches from the house Grandstands. At this point, we cannot be sure. Other modes of airborne traversal include magical beasts — hippogriffs and dragons — which can be tamed and ridden upon in Hogwarts Legacy.

Set in the 1800s, long before the Chosen One — Harry Potter — was born let alone stepped foot at the wizarding school, Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive open-world RPG that lets you create custom witches and wizards, and embark on a whimsical journey through the mystical castle and the surrounding, dense Forbidden Forest. You’re presented with a deep set of upgrades and talents to aid in progression, whilst taking lessons to hone your skills in Herbology, Potions, Charms, and more. Last month, the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter handle dropped details on its Imperio curse, which canonically grants the spell-caster total control over their subject. In the game, however, the curse will temporarily force enemies to fight alongside you as allies. While under the spell’s control, they take reduced damage, whereas, once it has lifted, you’ll be able to eliminate them quickly, thanks to a debuff.

Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10, 2023, across all major platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development, but there are no release details for the same.
