Nothing Phone 2 Design Revealed Officially Ahead of July 11 Launch

Nothing Phone 2 is all set to be launched on July 11 as a follow-up to last year’s Phone 1. In the build-up to its imminent arrival, the Carl Pei-led UK brand has unveiled the first official look of the flagship handset. The official render suggests white and grey colour options for the Nothing Phone 2 with a new Glyph Interface. The overall design appears to follow in the footsteps of the Nothing Phone 1. The Nothing Phone 2 is confirmed to run on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and will go on sale in India via Flipkart.

Nothing on Tuesday unveiled the official look of its upcoming Nothing Phone 2 via Twitter. As mentioned, the handset is seen in white and dark grey colourways with a transparent rear case and curved edges. The image shared by the brand shows a similar design to its predecessor Nothing Phone 1 that was launched in July last year. The Glyph Interface seems to have a few notable upgrades with slightly tweaked LED lighting.

Ring-like camera module housing dual rear cameras are seen arranged in the upper left corner of the Nothing Phone 2. Further, the volume rockers are seen on the right spine of the smartphone, while the power button is arranged on the left spine.

The upcoming Nothing Phone 2 is confirmed to feature 33 LED lighting zones, this would be a significant upgrade from Nothing Phone 1’s 12 individual LEDs. They can be programmed through the phone software. The handset is teased to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will pack a 4,700mAh battery.

The Nothing Phone 2 will be launched in global markets including India on July 11. Nothing Phone 2 Dual Rear Camera Module With New Glyph Interface Layout Leaks Ahead of Debut: Details

Nothing Phone 2 could be equipped with a dual rear camera setup like its predecessor, according to a leaked image that has surfaced online, days ahead of the smartphone’s debut. The second smartphone from the UK-based startup led by OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will pack a 4,700mAh battery. The company previously teased the lower portion of the rear panel of the Nothing Phone 2, which will feature a modified version of the Glyph interface.

Tipster Paras Guglani (Twitter: @passionategeekz) on Sunday leaked an image of the purported Nothing Phone 2 on Twitter with octopus emoji — the Nothing Phone 1 featured a parrot, while the company’s teasers for the upcoming smartphone show octopus tentacles around the handset. However, the image shared by the tipster only shows the top left corner of the rear end of the handset, surrounded by a part of the company’s unique Glyph interface.

The image of the Nothing Phone 2 appears to corroborate reports that the handset will be equipped with a dual rear camera setup. While the camera unit appears similar to the Nothing Phone 1, there’s no word on the specifications for the front and rear cameras on the Nothing Phone 2. The Glyph interface around the camera module of the upcoming smartphone has also been redesigned, according to the leaked image.

While Nothing hasn’t revealed the camera specifications of the upcoming Nothing Phone 2, it has confirmed several details of the handset that had previously leaked online. The phone is confirmed to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, and will sport a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display.

The smartphone will be equipped with a 4,700mAh battery — larger than the 4,500mAh battery on the Nothing Phone 1 — that can be charged over a USB Type-C port. The charging cable for the Nothing Phone 2 will have a “transparent” design that shows some of the device’s internal components, just like the company’s other products. The phone will receive three years of OS updates and four years of security updates, according to the company.

Nothing Phone 2 Design Officially Teased Ahead of July 11 Launch: All Details

Nothing Phone 2 is set to launch globally and in India on July 11. It is expected to succeed the Nothing Phone 1, which was released in July 2022. The Phone 1 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset and is backed by a 4,500mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Phone 2 is confirmed to come equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and a slightly larger 4,700mAh battery. Nothing CEO Carl Pei recently teased the home screen of the upcoming smartphone in a screenshot. Now, ahead of its launch, the company has teased the design of the rear panel of the phone.

In a tweet on Friday, Nothing teased the design of the back panel of the Nothing Phone 2. The handset is seen in a transparent glass cover back, with underlying LED light panels, similar to the preceding handset. The images also confirms that the Phone 2 will get curved edges and frame. In comparison, the Phone 1 had flat sides and a flat rear panel.

Ahead of the curve.

See you on 11 July for the official launch of Phone (2). pic.twitter.com/JxjhW0ExT9

— Nothing (@nothing) June 29, 2023

In a recent screenshot of the phone’s home screen that Pei shared, the digital clock is seen in the top left corner of the display. This was indicative that the selfie camera may not be positioned centrally in the Phone 2. In another tweet by the company, an unspecified handset is seen with extremely narrow bezels and a centre-aligned hole-punch camera slot at the top of the panel. It is speculated that this could be a hint that the upcoming phone is likely to have a centrally positioned selfie camera.

The Nothing Phone 2 pre-orders in India went live today at 12 noon. Customers only need to pay a refundable deposit of Rs. 2,000 to book the phone and upon the release, pay the balance amount to secure the handset. An earlier report suggested that the 8GB + 256GB variant of the phone is likely to be priced at EUR 729 (roughly Rs. 65,600) and the 12GB + 512GB option is expected to be marked at EUR 849 (roughly Rs. 76,500).

Nothing has already confirmed that the Phone 2 will come equipped with a 6.7-inch display, with a resolution of full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) or higher. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The model will ship with a USB Type-C cable with a transparent outer layer and a silver-coloured USB port. The handset is also confirmed to receive 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.

Nothing Phone 2 Price, Storage Options Leaked; May Cost More Than the Nothing Phone 1 in the UK

Nothing, the Carl Pei-led UK startup is all set to unveil the Nothing Phone 2 on July 11 through a virtual event. As the UK brand gears up for the release of the successor to the Nothing Phone 1, speculation surrounding its features and specifications continue to surface online. Most recently, a French media report has suggested the European pricing details of the Nothing Phone 1 alongside the RAM and storage configurations as well as colour options. It seems like the Nothing Phone 2 would be costlier than its  predecessor due to the chipset upgrade. The flagship will run on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and is said to pack up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum of 512GB of onboard storage.

According to a Dealabs report, the Nothing Phone 2 will have a price tag of EUR 729 (roughly Rs. 65,600) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and EUR 849 (roughly Rs. 76,500) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model. The handset will reportedly be available in black and white shades.

The report points to a significant price hike for the successor to the Nothing Phone 1. The smartphone costs EUR 469 in the European markets for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The higher cost can be attributed to the chipset upgrade on the Nothing Phone 2, which is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 1 is powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.

The Nothing Phone 1 was unveiled in July last year with an initial price tag of Rs. 32,999 in India. The company later increased the price of the smartphone by Rs. 1,000.

The launch date of the Nothing Phone 2 is set for July 11. The phone will be launched at a virtual event and it will be live streamed via the company’s official channels. The upcoming handset will go on sale in India via Flipkart, according to the company.

Nothing Phone 2 is confirmed to launch globally in July. It will launch as the successor to the Nothing Phone 1 that was released in July 2022. Nothing CEO and former OnePlus Co-Founder Car Pei had previously confirmed a few key specifications of the handset. The upcoming smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and will be backed by a 4,700mAh battery. The design of the Phone 2 is speculated to be similar to that of the first one. Now, the company has also revealed the display size of the phone, and a few other details.

In a Twitter thread, Nothing shared that the display of the Nothing Phone 2 will be 0.15-inch bigger than that of Nothing Phone 1. The first generation smartphone from the company sports a 6.55-inch full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display. Therefore, the Phone 2 will feature a 6.7-inch screen.

Previously, alongside confirming the phone’s July launch, Pei said that the Nothing Phone 2 will come with a 4,700mAh battery, which is 200mAh bigger than that of the 4,500mAh battery of the Phone 1. Today, the company said that these changes will “boost overall performance” of the upcoming handset, all while maintaining a carbon footprint of 53.45 kilograms, over 5 kilograms lower than the Phone 1.

Earlier this month Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a considerable upgrade from Phone 1’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+. Initial tests of the phone claimed that the Nothing Phone 2 is twice as fast compared to Phone 1. It is said to be about 80 percent more productive than its predecessor. The company also announced today that it will offer 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates for the Nothing Phone 2.

Sold in a plastic-free packaging, the Nothing Phone 2 is claimed to have three times more recycled or bio-based parts as opposed to the Phone 1. The upcoming model uses 100 percent recycled tin on 9 circuit boards, 100 percent recycled copper foil on the main circuit board, over 90 percent recycled steel on all 28 steel stamping parts, and 80 percent of plastic parts are sustainably sourced, the company stated in a series of tweets.

Alongside claiming that the Nothing Phone 2 uses 100 percent recycled aluminium made with 100 percent renewable energy for the handset’s mid-frame, Nothing claims that the final assembly plants of the smartphone are also powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

Nothing Phone 2 Confirmed to Get Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC: All Details

Nothing Phone 2 is expected to launch soon. Nothing CEO Carl Pei today confirmed the chipset to be used for the phone. According to earlier reports, the successor to Nothing Phone 1 is expected to be released between June and September this year. The first phone from Nothing launched with several unique features including its transparent Corning Gorilla Glass-protected back panel. Enthusiasts are expecting significant upgrades for the second phone from the company. Notably, Pei was the co-founder of OnePlus, who left the firm and set up Nothing in 2020.

In a tweet, Carl Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. In a consecutive thread of tweets, Pei elaborated on why it is “a clear upgrade” from Nothing Phone 1.

According to Pei, initial tests revealed that the app opening speed on the Nothing Phone 2 is twice as fast compared to Phone 1. The upcoming smartphones is said to offer about 80 percent overall performance boost compared to its predecessor.

Nothing Phone 1 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 series chipset offers other significant enhancements apart from speed, like improved battery life, network connectivity, and camera proficiency.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, Pei says, includes an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP) enabling users to capture over 4,000 times more camera data than the ISP used on Nothing Phone 1. Therefore, the camera on Nothing Phone 2 is expected to offer upgraded features like Raw HDR and 4K recording at 60 fps.

The 4nm TSMC Snapdragon 8 series SoC offers best-in-class power consumption and heat management functionality, Pei adds. Other than justifying the selection of the chipset, Pei also defends the SoC itself. He states that it has completed thorough tests and regular optimisations via several updates since its launch a year back, suggesting that it offers the best experience now than it ever could.

Potentially predicting the question of why not use Qualcomm’s latest and fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Pei clarified in one of the tweets preemptively that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC was chosen above all other options to ensure accessibility for customers, without compromising on significant improvements over the company’s last smartphone.

Nothing Phone 1, offered in Black and White colour options, launched at a price of Rs. 32,999 for the 8GB + 128GB. The 8GB + 256GB and the 12GB + 256GB variants were marked at Rs. 35,999 and Rs. 38,999, respectively, at launch.
