CMF Watch Pro 2 Reportedly Spotted on BIS Site, Suggesting Imminent India Launch

CMF Watch Pro 2 will likely launch later this year as the successor to the CMF Watch Pro, which was unveiled in September 2023. The purported smartwatch has not yet been officially announced but reports suggest that it may come to the markets soon. The moniker has not been confirmed either, but a new CMF model was spotted on a certification site recently, and it is expected to be the Watch Pro 2. It is likely to come with upgrades over the CMF Watch Pro.

A smartwatch with the model number D398 was spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, according to a 91Mobiles report. This is speculated to be CMF Watch Pro 2. No other details about the smartwatch have been revealed in the listing. However, the BIS certification suggests an imminent India launch.

Notably, the existing CMF Watch Pro was listed on BIS with the model number D395. The similarity in numbering hints that the upcoming smart wearable will be a successor to this first model. However, readers are advised to take the information with a pinch of salt, especially with regard to the moniker. Earlier this year, Nothing changed the naming standards for its audio products. Since CMF is a Nothing sub-brand, it will not be surprising if it takes the same approach for items in its catalogue.

Regardless of the moniker, the successor to the CMF Watch Pro is likely to come with upgrades. It can be expected to get a larger display or better battery life, among other improvements. The next smartwatch from CMF by Nothing may also see AI-based integrations, an update similar what to its existing audio product items are getting. We are likely to know more about the watch, officially or via leaks and more listings, over the next few weeks.

The CMF Watch Pro is currently available in India at Rs. 3,999 and it comes with a square 1.96-inch AMOLED screen, a 340mAh battery which is claimed to offer a battery life of up to 13 days and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Will the Nothing Phone 2 serve as the successor to the Phone 1, or will the two co-exist? We discuss the company’s recently launched handset and more on the latest episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.

CMF by Nothing’s First Phone Could Be an Entry-Level Offering; Name, Specifications Suggested

Nothing’s sub-brand CMF seems to be gearing up to unveil its first smartphone. No details about the device are official at this moment, but a new leak suggests the name, price, and specifications of the handset. CMF by Nothing’s upcoming phone will reportedly be called the CMF Phone 1. It is said to feature a plastic body and could be offered in three colour options. The CMF Phone 1 is expected to be an affordable entry-level phone and could be cheaper than the Nothing Phone 2a.

As per a report by 91Mobiles, CMF’s new smartphone dubbed CMF Phone 1 could be priced at around Rs. 12,000 in India. This means the purported handset would be way cheaper than all currently available phones by Nothing. The latest Phone 2a, the company’s most affordable handset, is priced at Rs. 23,999. The Nothing Phone 2 was unveiled with a Rs. 44,999 price tag.

Like other entry-level phones available in the market, the CMF Phone 1 will reportedly have a plastic body. The front of the phone could have Gorilla Glass protection. It is said to be available in black, orange, and white shades.

CMF’s Phone 1 is expected to feature a 6.5-inch screen and could run on Nothing OS with limited features. CMF is anticipated to provide three years of operating system upgrades and four years of security updates for the phone. It is likely to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 5G chipset and get a single rear camera. It is expected to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging support.

The purported CMF Phone 1 was earlier spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) website with model number A015. However, CMF has not yet confirmed the moniker or its launch plans. Therefore it is recommended to consider the above details with a pinch of salt.

Nothing to Unveil Something New on March 20, Carl Pei Says It’s an ‘Industry First’

Only weeks after launching the Nothing Phone 2a, company CEO Carl Pei is teasing something new is coming soon. In typical Nothing fashion, Pei hinted that the company will be unveiling something this week. Nothing posted a short video on X teasing the announcement. The company has not disclosed anything about this upcoming offering apart from revealing the date. Nothing recently launched the Phone 2a in India, the company’s first budget smartphone.

The official X handle of Nothing posted a ten-seconds long clip, on March 18. The snippet shows Pei in a conversation with Julie Duan, who as per her LinkedIn bio is a short-form content manager at Nothing. Pei captioned this short video as ‘an industry first’. As part of the conversation, Duan can be heard asking Pei, “So I think this is a bit of an industry first. Why do you think other companies haven’t done this before?”

Replying to Duan the Nothing chief just says, “Well, it’s uh…” following which the screen blacks out. The announcement will be made on March 20 as per teaser.

The post has managed to garner over 130,000 views in the last 24 hours. The comments section under this post has been flooding with all sorts of guesses. The Nothing team has not announced any specific time for the announcement. Nothing could announce a new app or software tomorrow.

In the first week of March this year, the company launched the budget-friendly Nothing Phone 2a with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC chipset, 5,000mAh battery, and a new Glyph LED design. The two variants of this handset are priced Rs. 25,999 and Rs. 27,999.

Shortly after the launch of Phone 2a, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF introduced two wearable devices — the Neckband Pro offering 50dB hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC) and the CMF Buds that come with 42dB ANC support.

Headquartered in London, Nothing was founded in October 2020. Former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei officially unveiled Nothing on January 27, 2021 – three months after Pei exited OnePlus. Between 2021 and 2024, Nothing has launched a bunch of wireless earphones alongside two mid-range flagship smartphones — the Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2.
