Krispy Kreme unveils doughnut to honor NASA’s Artemis I

It’s a donut out of this world!

To honor NASA’s Aug. 29 launch of the unmanned Artemis I mission, Krispy Kreme is releasing a special edition donut that space junkies and snack fiends can equally enjoy.

The cheesecake-filled donut will be dipped in cookies ‘n Kreme icing that’ll include chocolate pieces to look like the moon.

The Artemis program will look to land humans — including the first woman and person of color — back on the moon by 2025, and Monday’s launch will be an important step toward that goal. Artemis I is set to loop around the moon and test key components in the mission.

Krispy Kreme wanted to honor the space agency’s achievements in a fitting and edible way for all to enjoy. It’s the second time in as many years the doughnut company is honoring a space achievement, as in 2021 Krispy Kreme rolled out a special doughnut for the Perseverance rover.

“The Artemis I mission is a proud moment, and we are in awe of the amazing Americans behind the world’s most powerful rocket. So, we created these delicious doughnuts to enjoy while you watch the launch,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, in a press release.

“The Orion spacecraft atop the rocket will stay in space longer than any ship for astronauts has done without docking to a space station, but our Artemis Moon Doughnut will be available only Monday, so start the countdown and don’t miss it!”

The limited-edition Artemis donuts will only be available Monday at participating locations. As for the Artemis launch, NASA is looking for a time between 8:33 a.m. and 10:33 a.m. ET, according to CNN.

Mysterious Michigan dog illness identified as canine parvovirus: officials

The mysterious illness that has sickened and killed dozens of dogs across Michigan has been identified by state officials as canine parvovirus.

The announcement from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development comes after one animal shelter in Ostego County reported at least 30 animals falling victim to the illness, despite testing negative for it.

Canine parvovirus spreads through fecal matter and includes symptoms such tiredness, loss of appetite and diarrhea.

“Canine parvovirus is a severe and highly contagious disease in dogs, but the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and veterinary professionals have extensive experience with this virus,” State Veterinarian Nora Wineland said in a statement.

“We have a highly effective vaccine available to help protect dogs from the virus. Dogs that are not fully vaccinated against this virus are the most at risk,” she continued. “Dog owners across Michigan must work closely with their veterinarians to ensure their dogs are appropriately vaccinated and given timely boosters to keep their pets safe and healthy.”

Officials say parvovirus is behind the deaths of dozens of dogs in Michigan.

Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory director Kim Dodd described the situation as “complex because although the dogs displayed clinical signs suggestive of parvovirus, they consistently test negative by point-of-care tests performed in clinics and shelters.

“While those tests are valuable in the clinical setting, they are not as sensitive as the diagnostic tests we can perform here in the laboratory,” she added. “We continue to further characterize the virus in hopes of better understanding why those animals were testing negative on screening tests.”

But Michigan officials also stressed that “Canine parvovirus is NOT contagious to people or other species of domestic animals.”

Woman falls asleep on stranger on bus, now they’re dating

It was 50 Shades Of Greyhound.

A man’s incredible tale of how a stranger who fell asleep on him on the bus has now become his life partner has captivated TikTok, with videos detailing their amazing love story boasting nearly 20 million views.

“I feel like I’m living a dream, I dreamed of being with such a wonderful person!” Eddy Oscco Huarcaya told NeedToKnow.online of the whirlwind romance.

The fella met his beau-to-be, Catalina, on July 5, 2022, while the two were riding the same bus together. Huarcaya described how she was sitting next to another female passenger, who then disembarked, whereupon the opportunistic man took her seat.

Catalina then fell asleep on his shoulder, as seen in this clip that racked up 3 million views.

“She ended up falling asleep, so I let her rest,” described Huarcaya, who reportedly didn’t make a move at the time.

It wasn’t until a few weeks later, when the influencer spotted Catalina on the bus yet again, that he decided to shoot his shot.

“I decided to speak to her and asked for her WhatsApp number, we talked and ended up going on dates,” gushed the supportive fellow. In a follow-up vid, which has over 14.6 million views, he can be seen “bussing” a move on his now-girlfriend.

“I feel like I’m living a dream, I dreamed of being with such a wonderful person!” said Huarcaya.

From there, their relationship blossomed from strangers into soulmates. “We’re now dating and I feel super happy because I have the most beautiful girl in the world!” fawned Huarcaya, who frequently shares videos of him and Catalina going on dates and exchanging gifts.

Needless to say, TikTok was enamored with the lovebirds’ story of meeting in transit.

“And there begins a love story,” fawned one fan, while another wrote, “I hope they never part.”

One commenter exclaimed, “WHAT A CUTE LOVE STORY.”

“I decided to speak to her and asked for her WhatsApp number, we talked and ended up going on dates,” gushed Huarcaya.

The father of my child gives all his money away to his mom

DEAR ABBY: My fiance and I have a child together. I’m 31, and he’s 16 years older. Sometimes I don’t know if our relationship will work out in the long run because he’s so stubborn and set in his ways. I’m more laid-back and easygoing.

DEAR ALL: You wrote that you are trying to save for your family’s future. Is your fiance giving his mother money that you have been earning, or is it his? If it is his, he can do with it as he pleases — at least until after the wedding. If he is fiscally responsible, he should also be trying to save for the future. However, if he isn’t, recognize that the pattern he has established may not be a sound one for you and your child, and plan accordingly.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have been together for 12 years and our relationship has started to suffer. We no longer have dates, we don’t spend any time talking with each other unless it’s about the kids, and the intimacy has faded.

Dear Abby helps a woman figure out what to do in a marriage that has lost its passion.
Getty Images for The Thalians

A year ago, I asked him to go to a counselor with me. I asked him to be the one to set it up, as I’m always in charge of doctor appointments, bill paying, etc. I wanted him to show he was “all in” to help fix our marriage. I have reminded him to do it several times, but he hasn’t.

He claims to love me and to want our marriage to thrive, yet he does nothing. Now that the intimacy is completely gone, he all of a sudden wants to work on things. Go figure. I feel hurt and rejected and like throwing in the towel, but we have built a life together and I do love him. I don’t think therapy will work because I’ll feel like I manipulated him to get there by withholding the intimacy.

I feel sad and defeated. The man I married is gone, replaced by this person who is just going through the motions and using me to take care of his kids and clean his house. Please advise. — ON HOLD IN ARKANSAS

DEAR ON HOLD: Ask your doctor for a referral to a psychologist and make an appointment — for yourself — for help rebuilding your sagging self-esteem. Because you long ago assumed the role of organizer-arranger in your marriage, it was unrealistic to expect your husband to suddenly pick up the ball. He may not know how. Once you are stronger emotionally, schedule those sessions with a licensed marriage and family therapist, as you have all the other appointments during your marriage. Your relationship with your husband does need work, and this is the path to repairing it.

What is bothering me the most right now is his mother constantly asks him for money. It’s not just for little things; it’s for roof and furnace repair and problems with her water heater, washer/dryer, stove and A/C. She’s married, and her husband works. He should be able to provide her with the things they need for their house.

It’s not like my fiance is rich. He isn’t. I have tried talking to him about it, but it just ends up in an explosive argument. It’s like, why should I even try to save for our family’s future and the things we need for our house if he’s going to keep giving it to his mother every time she asks? Please help. — ALL FOR MAMA

TikTok shocked by how ‘hot’ and young this grandma is

A 35-year-old grandmother has baffled TikTok users with her youthful looks, with people saying she doesn’t look old enough to be a mother — let alone a grandmother.

Mother of four Xavi initially shocked users with videos of her and her children — and then bowled them over when they found out she was a grandmother of a baby boy as well.

Xavi had her daughter Bianca at the age of 15 and Bianca — now 20 — had her baby at 17, making the TikTok creator a grandmother — and as the internet has declared: a hot one.

“Hot grandma challenge,” Bianca says in the 15 second clip, passing her son to Xavi, who then sits in front of the camera showing off her youthful looks.

Thousands of viewers commented on the video — in disbelief.

“Beautiful grandma, you do look like sisters,” a follower commented, with another declaring: “You three could pass for siblings I swear.”

TikTok users couldn’t believe how young this grandmother looks.

“She is your step mom I’m pretty sure and your brother is so lucky,” a dubious user wrote.

“Yea my granny don’t look like that,” one user laughed.

“How in the world is she a grandma?” another shocked user wrote.

She’s not the only grandma to be holding the elixir of youth; Canadian TikToker Lalie had people talking about her sultry pics at 53. The glam gran puts her youthful looks down to an intense skincare regimen and she has hit back at trolls, telling them: “Gonna keep being me.”

In Australia, a Queensland grandmother Gina Stewart, 51, has amassed a cult following with her racy bikini snaps, which she regularly posts to Instagram. The mom of four and grandmother of one swears by rose-hip oil, cryotherapy and swearing off alcohol as the secret to her youthful looks.

I was hungover on Google Maps, mistaken for Ozzy Osbourne

A young woman with a hangover from hell has been left humiliated after finding photos of herself on Google Maps, likening her hungover appearance to Ozzy Osbourne.

The woman, known only as Mandah, was perusing pics of her property on the street view site when she noticed the unfortunate images, taking to TikTok to self-deprecatingly share her story.

“Finding myself on Google Maps collecting a takeaway,” the British brunette captioned her video, which consisted of three separate snaps of herself, which were taken by a passing Google van.

Mandah revealed that she was “hungover” at the time the unflattering images were taken, and she certainly seemed to be struggling after a big night out on the booze.

The photos show a usually-glamorous Mandah dressed down in sweatpants, slouched over and sporting bedraggled hair. The brunette appears almost unaware of her surroundings, standing stunned as she holds a bag of takeout.

Starbucks insider shares where the popular chain got its name

Next time you visit Starbucks, remember that multiple different names were considered for the coffee chain – and in an alternate universe, you’re drinking a “Cargo House” vanilla bean frappe.

That’s just one of the names almost used by executives, who borrowed the name Starbucks from an unusual but much-beloved source.

When the company was in its early days, there were several potential names on the list, said co-founder Gordon Bowker in an interview with the Seattle Times.

The founders debated giving the business a coffee-centric name but also veered into literary territory.

“We were thinking of all kinds of names and came desperately close to calling it Cargo House,” Bowker told the outlet.

He also said that it was a good thing the company passed on the name, which “would have been a terrible, terrible mistake.”

While trying to think of “power words” that started with a hard st- sound, someone brought out an old mining map in a meeting.

A small town in the Cascades called Starbo caught Bowker’s eye.

He said he “immediately” associated the town with Starbuck, which is the name of the level-headed first mate in Herman Melville’s masterpiece Moby-Dick.

Obviously, it was that moniker that stuck with the brand, but Bowker detailed another word from the book that was almost used instead.

The founders debated using the name of the whaling ship, Pequod, instead of the name of the first mate.

The famous chain could have been called “Cargo House.”

Someone recalled that Starbuck loved coffee in the book Moby-Dick, but they were corrected.

“Then somebody said to me, well no, it wasn’t that he loved coffee in the book, it was that he loved coffee in the movie,” Bowker recalled.

“Moby-Dick has nothing to do with coffee as far as I know,” Bowker confessed. “It was only coincidental that the sound seemed to make sense.”

Of course, the company’s siren logo further demonstrates its close ties to the sea.

While you might not think of Starbucks as a particularly nautical company, armed with this new knowledge, you can effortlessly justify an iced coffee as a beach or poolside beverage all summer long.

Poll shows women would rather ‘suffer’ than tell their boss about periods

Women would rather suffer in silence at work than admit they are struggling with a health condition, new research has revealed.

Around six in 10 women say they wouldn’t feel comfortable discussing topics such as menstrual cramps, smear tests, breast examinations or menopause with a manager.

The poll of 2,000 adults who are biologically female found that 40 percent said this was because it would be too awkward an uncomfortable.

Around 36 percent said they would feel embarrassed, and 22 percent said they would keep quite as they didn’t want to come across as a ‘slacker’ to other.

It’s not just in the workplace where women are keeping tight lipped, as a quarter won’t discuss post-pregnancy issues with family or friends.

The study was commissioned by health and dental plan provider Simplyhealth to spark one million ‘comfortable conversations’ about female health during Women’s Health Month with its campaign #comfyconvos.

Clinical Director, Catherine Rutland, said: “No one should suffer in silence and our survey shows that too many women in the UK are doing just that.

“Whether that is at work, or in their personal life, women are feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed discussing perfectly normal health concerns.

“It’s time we broke down those barriers and banished the taboos.”

The study also found 47 percent of employed respondents didn’t think their bosses would understand health issues specifically affecting their gender.

While 43 percent worried they’ll be viewed as weak, and 47 percent didn’t think their issue would be recognized as an illness.

Despite 54 percent having no problem discussing general health conditions, such as the flu, back pain and Covid-19, 43 percent have ‘suffered in silence’ at work while being worried about a female-specific ailment.

Menstrual cramps (33 percent) and menopause (18 percent) are among the issues women have kept to themselves.

While 13 percent have suffered with miscarriage but didn’t tell their employer anything was wrong.

In fact, more than a quarter would keep quiet about miscarriage over fears it would impact their career opportunities or potential pay increases.

It also emerged three in 10 professionals have lied to an employer about why they’ve needed time off work when experiencing a female health issue.

Only one in 10 of those who are going through or have gone through the menopause feel comfortable enough to approach their manager for time off due to symptoms.

In comparison, 40 percent would ask permission to visit the dentist.

Loss of concentration (40 percent), crumbling anxiety (39 percent) and debilitating hot flushes (35 percent) are among some of the menopausal symptoms people admit to hiding at work.

Women’s health issues are also impacting exercise for many, with 44 percent claiming painful menstrual cycles stop them from playing sport or going to the gym.

And 39 percent admitted feelings of shame or embarrassment of their body puts them off exercise or playing sport publicly.

A further 46 percent of women polled via OnePoll are also demonstrating reluctance to have these conversations with their GP,  with 45 percent more likely to open-up if they had access to more bespoke health services, more in tune with women’s needs.

Catherine Rutland added: “We’ve have been providing access to healthcare for 150 years, following this insight, we understand that more needs to be done.

“That’s why it is encouraging one million comfortable conversations about women’s health in 2022.”

Twerking McDonald’s ‘hamburglar’ busted on video: ‘She was McMad’

Wonder if she wanted fries with that shake.

A pregnant woman with a craving for fast food was not McLovin’ the service she received at a McDonald’s in Lakeland, Florida.

“She was McMad,” joked Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd during a Friday press conference, sharing that a warrant is out for her arrest.

Judd later described, “As Jones got to the exit, she turned toward the employees, lifted her shirt to expose her belly, then turned and began twerking at them.”

“She didn’t get her Happy Meal or her fish sandwich or her chocolate shake, or her sweet tea, but she managed to get herself into a lot of McTrouble,” the cop added.

On Thursday, Tianis Jones, 22, grew upset with the time it took to put together her drive-thru order, so she entered the restaurant to give employees a piece of her mind.

Jones allegedly threw a small plastic sign and several bottles at one worker, then went behind the counter and threw cups on the floor and at employees, sheriffs said.

One of Jones’ relatives reportedly intervened to calm her down, but the angry mother-to-be called 911 instead.

Tianis Jones twerked on her way out of the golden arches.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office/Fac

“I’m 5 months pregnant. These people don’t know how to run a f- -king McDonald’s,” she told workers after being asked several times to leave the dining room, according to ABC affiliate WFTV.

Investigators said Jones’ relative and another woman eventually convinced her to leave the store. The whole ordeal lasted about 10 minutes, and caused about $100 worth of damage.

“She ended up a ‘McBurglar’ — she committed a burglary and an assault, which is a first-degree felony,” Judd said, in a variation on the franchise mascot the Hamburglar.

“I don’t know why this woman got as angry as she was, but as the saying goes, she’s a few fries short of a Happy Meal,” he added. “She better not complain about the food we serve her at the county jail.”
