The $99 Nordstrom Boots I’m Buying to Get the Miu Miu Look

No single pair of boots has taken up residence in the brains of practically every person in fashion in recent years quite as significantly as Miu Miu’s moto boots, which the brand debuted in its F/W 22 collection. Mixed among penny loafers and the now-viral satin Mary Jane flats were a variety of heavy-duty, distressed leather boots in brown and black with a round toe, an ankle strap secured by large metal fasteners, and buckles up the leg that brought the thick material together on either side. Similar to the other footwear they were accompanied by on the runway, attendees and digital onlookers alike were instantly smitten.

As a result, over the past year, many brands have hopped aboard the moto-boot train, with options arriving from Steve Madden, Mango, and more. But none has gotten me quite as excited as the $99 pair I just discovered on Nordstrom.com. Ankle height, buckled to perfection, and featuring just the right amount of heel, the boots, courtesy of Nordstrom’s in-house, editor-favorite label Open Edit, check off every box. And the price isn’t half bad either. (I’m obviously kidding—the price is the *best* part.) Scroll down to shop Open Edit’s just-in moto boots ahead of fall’s official arrival.

Bella Hadid Already Wore the Spring 2024 Capri Pants Trend

We’re only halfway through fashion month, and yet, one trend is already shaping up to be the favorite of the entire calendar: capri pants. The not too short, not too long bottoms made a surprising comeback during New York Fashion Week, with appearances at Tory Burch, Phillip Lim, Mirror Palais, and Sandy Liang. And already, we’ve gotten a glimpse at the style’s first celebrity endorsement.

This week, Bella Hadid was spotted on a helipad in Manhattan after arriving in the city alongside her brother Anwar. For the trip, she chose an oversize men’s button-down shirt, a white tank top, satin Miu Miu ballet flats, and *the* trend of the spring/summer 2024 runway season, a pair of white capri pants. On the accessories front, she added a burgundy satchel, a Y2K headband, and thin hoop earrings.

It should come as no surprise that the supermodel is the first to take the formerly outdated capri-pants trend out for a test drive. After all, she’s known for her love of early-aughts styling and testing the boundaries when it comes to street style. And now that they have her stamp of approval, there’s no question about it: Capri pants are back. Accept it. Scroll down to see her travel outfit and shop the trend before it blows up.

Shop the 11 Best Jeans From Madewell’s 25%-Off Sitewide Sale

I’d say that Madewell’s jeans are underrated but they’re not—they have plenty of hype surrounding them and it’s proven to be warranted. I can personally speak to their excellence, as I’ve worn Madewell jeans for the past 15 years. The only sad thing about being a fan of Madewell jeans is that many styles are typically excluded from the brand’s epic sales—until now.

Madewell is currently holding its Insider Event sale, and all you have to do is sign up for an account to receive the 25% off sitewide discount (and those with Stars and Icons status get 30% off). For this particular sale, Madewell is including a massive assortment of denim in the mix, and it’s so significant that the brand calls it “never-on-sale denim” itself on the homepage. I highly suggest taking advantage of this sale because who knows when they’ll be marked down again. All you have to do is pick your pair (s) and sign into your Insider account to get the discount.

Scroll on to shop the 25%-off jeans I recommend adding to your wardrobe before the sale ends on September 25.

Actress Aria Mia Loberti Hits Fashion High Notes at TIFF

To say that Aria Mia Loberti has that It factor, a magnetism that lights up the screen, would be a gross understatement. She did, after all, land the lead role of Marie-Laure LeBlanc in the upcoming adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel All the Light We Cannot See out of thousands of hopefuls during a global casting search for blind and low-vision actresses. Although she had no prior acting experience, Loberti—who was recently named the newest L’Occitane global ambassador—made a big impression, and an early preview of the series confirms her star power.

It should come as no surprise, then, that Loberti was celebrated as one of the 2023 TIFF Rising Stars this past weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival. The prestigious program showcases the next generation of international acting talent poised for success. Previous honorees include Thuso Mbedu, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Tatiana Maslany. During their time at the festival, TIFF’s Rising Stars are immersed in a series of public events and development meetings with notable industry insiders. For Loberti, the whirlwind three days included stops at the Chanel x Variety annual Female Filmmakers Dinner and the TIFF Tribute Awards. With the help of stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley, she made quite the fashion impression at both.

Here, Loberti documents the fantasy weekend exclusively for Who What Wear.

Capri Pants Are Nearing a Comeback, Thanks to Tory Burch

If you know me, you’re probably aware of my keen interest in trends that many would consider controversial. There’s the hot pants, of course, and underwear worn with just tights (no pants). I wear more low-rise jeans than high-rise ones these days and were fond of wedges before they came back. Though I often describe my style as classic and minimal, my obsession with out-there pieces and styling techniques would beg to differ. So, it should come as no surprise that a particular item caught my eye at Tory Burch’s spring/summer 2024 runway show earlier this week—an item that, for those who dressed themselves in the early to mid aughts, might bring with it some minor backlash.

The silhouette in question is capri pants, which haven’t been done in the chicest of ways in recent years, but got one hell of a face lift in Burch’s spring collection, which featured tailored versions of the anti-puddle pants three times, paired with blazers and matching lady jackets, not to mention sporty sunglasses, retro pocket books, and toe-ring footwear. Once so uncool, the sight of capris at the show immediately flipped my perception of them on its head, making me want to immediately leave the show and start shopping for pairs to add into my early fall wardrobe.

Lori Harvey Just Wore the New It Ugg Boots That’ll Sell Out

Just like clockwork, each September (usually around NYFW), the new It Ugg boot emerges, and a swift sell-out comes soon after. This time around, it’s Lori Harvey who’s giving the boots their celebrity debut. The name of this year’s soon-to-be-viral style is the Ugg Classic Dipper Platform Boots, and they’re right in step with one of fall 2023’s biggest boot trends.

Like last year’s It Ugg boots, the Classic Ultra Mini Platform Boots, the Classic Dippers feature a platform sole, but it’s the sock-like shaft that makes it purely “2023”. This isn’t the first season we’ve seen the sock boot trend, but the interesting thing about it this time around is that all of the iterations on the runway were off-kilter takes on the sock boot, from Bottega Veneta’s leather ones that were crafted to look like crew socks to Chanel’s second-skin knee-high leather pair. Ugg’s rendition is right in step with that distinction.

Keep scrolling to see how Lori Harvey styled the Ugg Classic Dipper Platform Boots and shop them before the wait lists start forming.

CNN Announces Abrupt Shutdown of ‘Vault’ NFT Marketplace, Users Call It a ‘Rug Pull’

CNN, the popular TV news channel and digital media outlet, will no longer continue its non-fungible token (NFT) and Web3 project announced in the summer of 2021. The company confirmed this in a statement on Monday, saying, “we have decided that it’s time to say goodbye to Vault by CNN,” the Web3 project in question. CNN initially launched the project as a six-week experiment of issuing digital collectables or NFTs of exclusive historical moments and new stories. However, the scope of Vault was later expanded amid engagement and support from the community.

“The Vault team is honoured to have partnered with amazing journalists, producers, artists, photojournalists, and collectors from all over the world during our time together, but we have decided that it’s time to say goodbye to Vault by CNN,” the company said in a statement.

CNN added that the Discord channel would be closed by the end of October. However, the Vault’s website and NFTs already collected by users will continue to be live (on Flow blockchain), and collectors will be compensated.

“While we will no longer be developing or maintaining this community, the Vault NFT collection will live on,” CNN added. “To thank the thousands of collectors who joined us in this experiment, we are committed to compensating wallets that own Vault NFTs.”

Meanwhile, the community appears to be rattled by the announcement, to the extent some of the collectors are accusing CNN of a “rug pull.” As per a CoinTelegraph report, a CNN staff member in the ‘Vault’ Discord mentioned that users involved in the NFT program will be compensated in one way or another. He noted that users who bought NFTs would be compensated with stablecoins or another token.

The staff mentioned that details are being worked on but stressed that the company would only pay 20 percent of the mint price for each NFT back to those that bought them. He mentioned that the Vault marketplace would continue functioning, and the collections would remain valuable.

Dapper Labs Raises $725 Million Fund to Help Expand Flow Blockchain Ecosystem

Dapper Labs, the Web 3 platform powering popular blockchain-based trading card platform NBA Top Shot, has unveiled a $725 million (roughly Rs. 5,600 crore) ecosystem fund to invest in applications and growth for its layer-1 blockchain ecosystem named Flow. The fund is the largest joint commitment made toward any blockchain ecosystem, the company said in a statement. Participants include venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz aka a16z, Coatue, CoinFund, Greenfield One, Liberty City Ventures, Digital Currency Group, and Union Square Ventures.

According to a press release, the money will be used for token grants, incubator programs, and other resources to support the “gaming, infrastructure, decentralised finance, content and creators” in the Flow ecosystem.

Announcing the raise, Dapper Labs CEO Roham Gharegozlou said, “We are thrilled to see such a strong vote of confidence in the Flow ecosystem from some of the world’s leading investors in Web 3 through their commitment to this fund. With their active participation and support, the Ecosystem Fund has the opportunity to become a real game-changer for the 7,500+ strong and fast-growing developer community in the Flow ecosystem.”

Dapper Labs is the original creator of Flow, the blockchain ecosystem that powers its NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day, and UFC Strike non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles platforms. However, Flow also plays host to a variety of other projects — ranging from avatar platform Genies to kid-centric NFTs from Zigazoo — and has evolved into an open, decentralised platform for Web 3 apps.

In late 2017, the company made headlines after its first game, CryptoKitties, exploded in popularity and triggered a major congestion crisis on the Ethereum network. According to some estimates, CryptoKitties had around 1.5 million active users at its height before falling from grace and becoming inaccessible for most users due to Ethereum’s soaring transaction fees.

According to data on Flow’s official website, the network currently hosts over 1,000 active projects and 175,000 daily active users, which is still orders of magnitude lower than Ethereum and other leading Layer 1 blockchains like Solana and BNB Chain.
