Infinix Zero 30 4G Renders, Specifications Leak, Launch Could Be Imminent

Infinix Zero 30 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC was launched in India last month as a successor to Infinix Zero 20. Now, the smartphone brand owned by China’s Transsion Holdings is reportedly working on a 4G variant of the Infinix Zero 30. Ahead of any official announcement, specifications and renders offering a glimpse into the possible design of the handset have leaked online. The Infinix Zero 30 4G is said to come with a curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. It could be backed by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 SoC.

As per a report by Gizmochina, Russian mobile network operator MTS has listed the renders and specifications of Infinix Zero 30 4G. The renders suggest two colour options and a similar design language as its 5G counterpart with a curved display. The screen has a centrally located hole-punch cutout as well. The device is seen featuring a triple rear camera unit accompanied by an LED flash. The power button and the volume keys appear to be arranged on the left spine of the smartphone.

The Infinix Zero 30 4G is said to come with an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It could run on an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 SoC. The 5G version has a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC under the hood. For optics, the 4G variant is said to retain the 108-megapixel triple camera system on the rear. For selfies and video chats, there might be a 50-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Infinix Zero 30 5G was launched in India in first week of September with a starting price tag of Rs. 23,999 for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The top-end variant with 12GB RAM + 256GB storage costs Rs. 24,999. It is offered in Golden Hour and Rome Green colour options.

The Infinix Zero 30 5G features a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (2,400×1,080 pixels) 60-degree curved AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate. It has a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 108-megapixel primary sensor with support for OIS, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide shooter and a 2-megapixel sensor. Selfies and video calls are managed by a 50-megapixel selfie camera with a dual LED flash. Infinix has packed a 5,000mAh battery on the smartphone with support for 68W fast charging.

OnePlus 12’s Watch-Inspired Design, Camera Hardware Leaked Online: All Details

OnePlus has yet to launch its first foldable the Open, but the rumour mill already seems to be gearing up for its next premium flagship, the OnePlus 12. The OnePlus 12 will be the replacement to the brand’s current flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 11 5G, which has the regular chocolate bar form factor and is focussed more on performance and imaging. As per recent leaks, it’s expected to come with several upgrades. Now, there are more details about its redesigned camera bump, a special finish as well as more information about its camera hardware.

As per tipster Digital Chat Station (via weibo 1, 2,) the OnePlus 12 will arrive in a very unique finish. There is reportedly a white glass variant which according to the source will use a “diffuse reflection process” which should technically blur all reflections on its glossy exterior. This reportedly looks very unique and should also enhance the phone’s “tactile appeal”. In terms of weight one can expect it to weigh as much as Oppo’s recently launched Find X6 Pro smartphone.

There’s something new about the rear camera module’s design, which has been talked about in a previous report as well. According to the tipster, it will remind many of a wrist watch as it seems inspired by the same. While the design of the lens remains unchanged, a watch-like design has been integrated into it, which seems to have a very different texture. Indeed, the source could be referring to the space between the camera lenses in a camera module and that this space could have a watch-like texture added to it.

More details about the camera module have also shown up. The primary sensor is expected to feature a Sony IMX966 50-megapixel sensor, which is OIS-enabled and of the 1/1.4-inch variety offering a 23mm focal length and an f/1.7 aperture. Next up is a ½-inch type, 48-megapixel ultra-wide telephoto camera (expected to be the Sony IMX581) with a 14mm focal length and an f/2.2 aperture. OnePlus is said to be using a OmniVision OV64B 64-megapixel camera for its telephoto with 3x optical zoom. This sensor too is of the ½-inch variety which should also allow for some hybrid zooming as well.

As for the previously leaked specifications about the upcoming OnePlus 12 which will first be announced in China, it is expected to retain its curved-edge display and 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and pack in up to 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage (at least for the China models). The devices will be powered by a 5,400mAh battery which will have both wired charging at 100W and wireless charging at 50W and it’s also expected to offer a proper IP-rated body this time around.

Walt Disney Said to Hold Initial Talks With Blackstone Over Stake in Disney+ Hotstar, TV Business in India

Private equity firm Blackstone has held preliminary discussions with Walt Disney to acquire a stake in the Indian arm of the entertainment firm, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.

Blackstone is the latest suitor for Disney’s assets in the hyper competitive Indian market, where it has been exploring a sale or a joint venture partner for the digital and TV business.

Blackstone and Disney declined to comment.

Blackstone-backed US media firm Candle Media, founded by former Disney executives, led conversations between the two parties last week, one of the sources said.

Indian newspaper The Economic Times first reported the talks earlier on Wednesday. Disney has also held talks with Indian billionaires Gautam Adani and Sun TV Network owner Kalanithi Maran, Bloomberg News reported last week.

With subscriber exits accelerating, Disney has sought to revive the fortunes of its streaming business in India by offering free cricket on smartphones, betting that the strategy will boost advertising revenue.

It has meanwhile lost streaming rights for some key cricket tournaments to Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s broadcasting unit – including the Indian Premier League and the national cricket team’s bilateral matches.

In July, it was reported that Disney’s India streaming service Disney+ Hotstar was planning to start enforcing a policy of allowing its premium users to login from only four devices, in an effort to limit password sharing in the key market.

Disney’s rival Netflix in May started telling subscribers in more than 100 countries they will need to pay more to share the service with people outside their household.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Price Hovers Over $27,000 Mark, Most Altcoins Trade in Dips

Bitcoin on Wednesday, October 11 saw a loss of 1.95 percent. The most expensive cryptocurrency is currently trading at the price point of $27,059 (roughly Rs. 22.5 lakh). In the last 24 hours, the value of BTC dropped by $530 (roughly Rs. 44,112). In the backdrop of the ongoing Israel-Gaza war, the volatility element of the crypto sector has increased. Along with Bitcoin, most cryptocurrencies are also trading in the reds today.

“Bitcoin has been trading around the $27,100 (roughly Rs. 22.5 lakh) mark as the US Equity markets saw a slight increase. With rising geopolitical tensions, investors are choosing to take a cautious approach. Bitcoin will now need to break through the resistance at $27,300 (roughly Rs. 22.7 lakh) or risk finding support around $27,000 (roughly Rs. 22.4 lakh),” Edul Patel, Co-Founder and CEO, Mudrex told Gadgets 360.

Ether incurred a loss of 2.09 percent on Wednesday. With this, the value of Ether touched the mark of $1,554 (roughly Rs. 1.29 lakh). Over the last day, the price of ETH dipped by $29 (roughly Rs. 2,413).

“ETH/BTC pair which the market usually deems to be the leading altcoin indicator, also continues to make new lows as it reaches its 11-month low. Ethereum has also failed to go past its resistance at $1,750 (roughly Rs. 1.45 lakh) recently, markets predict that a break below $1,200 (roughly Rs. 99,860) is also likely in the coming months.

Tether, Binance Coin, Ripple, USD Coin, Solana, Cardano, and Dogecoin also emerged among cryptocurrencies that recorded losses today alongside BTC and ETH.

Tron, Polygon, Polkadot, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, and Bitcoin Cash also registered price dips.

The crypto market valuation, that presently stands at $1.05 trillion (roughly Rs. 87,37,785 crore), tumbled by 1.69 percent in the last 24 hours as per CoinMarketCap.

Meanwhile, only a handful of cryptocurrencies managed to record profits today. These include Leo and Binance USD.

On a positive note, the CoinDCX research team said Bitcoin’s layer-2 Lightning Network has witnessed remarkable growth, estimated at 1,212 percent in two years. This growth in Lightning Network usage is expected to enhance Bitcoin’s usability as a medium of exchange, promoting faster and more cost-effective transactions.

“Asia’s markets indicated an overall decline with Bitcoin’s recent three-month dominance peak and strong investor backing contributing to a decline in market sentiment. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are now making their mark on the cryptocurrency market, resulting in a minor uptick in trading volumes but a nearly two percent dip in market capitalisation over the past 24 hours,” Rajagopal Menon, Vice President, WazirX told Gadgets 360.

Vivo Executive, Three Others Arrested by ED in Money Laundering Case

India’s financial crime agency on Tuesday arrested four industry executives including one Chinese national working for smartphone maker Vivo in India in a case of alleged money laundering, according to legal papers and lawyers working on the case.

The arrest adds to the legal troubles of the Chinese phone maker in India and comes amid rising tensions between Beijing and New Delhi over issues ranging from border disputes to India’s increasing scrutiny of Chinese businesses and investment.

Vivo said in a statement it “firmly adheres to its ethical principles and remains dedicated to legal compliance. The recent arrest deeply concerns us. We will exercise all available legal options”.

India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Earlier in the day, two sources told Reuters that four Vivo employees had been arrested, but during a court hearing where executives were produced lawyers said only one Vivo employee, a Chinese national identified in legal papers as Guanwen Kuang, was arrested.

Further details of the investigation were not immediately clear. The ED’s counsel, Manish Jain, sought 10 day custody for the arrested individuals, but the judge ordered only three days.

The names of three other executives, and their affiliations, were not immediately clear.

The executives were arrested in relation to an ongoing 2022 case where the ED raided Vivo’s offices and accused it of money laundering, the first of the sources said.

Vivo has repeatedly denied the allegations. It has previously said it cooperated with authorities to provide them with all required information and was “committed to be fully compliant with laws”.

Vivo is owned by China’s BBK Electronics, which also operates brands such as Oppo and Realme in India. Vivo is the second biggest smartphone brand in India with a 17 percent market share in shipments, trailing behind Samsung, according to data from research firm Counterpoint.

In 2022, the ED blocked 119 bank accounts linked to Vivo’s India business, but a court later revoked the move.

Indian police also have formally accused Vivo of helping transfer funds illegally to a news portal under investigation on charges of spreading Chinese propaganda, Reuters reported last week. Vivo hasn’t commented on the matter.

Relations between India and China have increasingly soured since a 2020 military clash on their disputed Himalayan border in which 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese troops were killed.

Since then, India has banned hundreds of Chinese apps including TikTok, citing national security concerns, and tightened scrutiny of incoming investments from its neighbour.

Recently, carmaker BYD’s proposal to invest $1 billion (roughly Rs. 8,321 crore)to build electric cars and batteries in India faced increased scrutiny from New Delhi, forcing the carmaker to drop its plans, Reuters reported in July.

PS5 Updated With Smaller Form Factor, 1TB Storage; Will Go on Sale Next Month

Sony is all set to refresh its PlayStation 5 lineup for the holiday season, with the long-rumoured slimmer redesign of the PS5 confirmed to release next month. Sony unveiled the new PS5 models late Tuesday, showcasing design changes that have helped the console become smaller and lighter. While the PS5 slim’s processing power and graphical capabilities remain the same as the original PS5, the mid-gen console refresh, which has a slightly smaller form factor than its infamously bulky predecessor, does get slightly bigger internal storage, up from an 825GB custom SSD to 1TB. The PS5 slim also brings the option to add an external UHD Blu-ray disc drive to its digital edition console. Notably, the disc edition of the redesigned PS5 slim maintains its pricing at $499.99 (roughly Rs. 41,615), but the digital edition gets a $50 price bump and will cost $449.99 (roughly Rs. 37,452), up from $399.

“To address the evolving needs of players, our engineering and design teams collaborated on a new form factor that provides greater choice and flexibility,” Sid Shuman, senior director of SIE Content Communications, said on the PlayStation blog. He added that the new PS5 had seen a reduction in volume by more than 30 percent, and weight by 18 percent and 24 percent compared to the original PS5s. The side panels on the console have also been redesigned, with the two covers split into four separate removable entities. These allow you to add the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, which will be sold separately for $79.99 (roughly Rs. 6,657), on the PS5 digital editions later.

There’s another bit of additional and optional cost involved with owning the new PS5 models, too. The original PS5 allows you to set it up either horizontally or vertically with the help of the included stand that clamps on and screws into the console, keeping it in place. Now, the new PS5 Slim models will ship with a horizontal stand, but to set it up vertically — which is perhaps the PS5’s default orientation and appears on all marketing material for the console — you’ll need to buy a redesigned ring-style vertical stand, which will put you back $29.99 (roughly Rs. 2,495).

Sony will also release new PS5 console covers for the new slim variant in different colours in early 2024. These would include a matte Black colourway and the Deep Earth Collection colours in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver, with more colours planned for future, according to the PS blog. The PS5 slim covers will start at $54.99 (roughly Rs. 4,576).

The redesigned PS5 slim will go on sale next month in the US at select local retailers and direct.playstation.com where available, with a global rollout planned for the following months. There are no official dates available for the launch in Indian markets, but one can expect the refreshed models to hit the shelves in the coming months. The original PS5 remains popular in the country, with stocks of the console easily available on e-commerce websites and retail stores. According to Sony, however, the new slimmer PS5 will be the only model available once the original PS inventory is sold out.

The PS5 physical edition costs Rs. 54,990 in India, while the digital edition comes in at Rs. 44,990. Sony is also planning to launch the PlayStation Portal, a handheld game streaming device to serve as a companion to the PS5, later this year. While a concrete release date has not been announced, the handheld will be sold at $199.99, or about Rs. 16,500.

Crypto Relief Aid Set-Up in War-Ridden Israel; Unocoin CEO Lists Ethical Implications

In the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, cryptocurrencies are once again becoming a source of wiring funds around the war-ridden regions. After Palestine-based militant group, the Hamas, struck Israel with missiles on October 6, there were hundreds of deaths and destruction. In order to collect some emergency funding for Israel, a bunch of crypto companies have established ‘Crypto Aid Israel’, that would let anybody in the world send money for use there. Since crypto transactions are instant and largely untraceable, its transfers in war-torn regions may have ethical and financial implications, Sathvik Vishwanath, the CEO of Unocoin crypto exchange told Gadgets 360.

CryptoJungle, 42Studio, MarketAcross, Collider Ventures, Blockchain B7, Efficient Frontier, Ironblocks, the Israel Blockchain Association, Bits of Gold, and CoinTelegraph have reportedly come together to form Crypto Aid Israel earlier this week. So far, the portal has managed to collect over $60,000 (roughly Rs. 50 lakh) via crypto assets.

“Our goal is to raise desperately needed funds for displaced citizens whose unbearable situation demands humanitarian aid,” the official page of Crypto Fund Israel reads.

So far, the funding is being allocated to the families of soldiers, first respondents, captured nationals as well as killed ones. Some parts of the proceeds are also being saved to re-construct the damaged parts of southern Israel.

Talking to Gadgets 360, Unocoin’s Vishwanath said the ethical implications of relying on cryptocurrency funds in geopolitically troubled countries is a complex and contentious issue.

Crypto can provide financial services to those excluded from traditional banking systems, promoting financial inclusion and empowering marginalised communities. Crypto transactions can, however, hinder regulatory oversight and potentially enable illegal activities such as money laundering and tax evasion,” Vishwanath said.

Instances of crypto assets being used to buy weapons and facilitate other illegal activities were topics of grave concerns when the Russia-Ukraine war started in February last year. Several crypto exchanges had to tighten their policies and KYC needs at the time to ensure that Russian nationals and entities that were sanctioned by the US, the UK and other nations — did not get to engage with crypto assets.

In fact, in 2022, Israel itself had identified and confiscated 30 cryptocurrency wallets that were allegedly funding the Hamas group. These wallets were owned by an exchange firm named al-Mutahadun, which is based in the city of Gaza. Benny Gantz, the defence minister of Israel had approved the seizure of these accounts in March 2022.

Along with these ethical implications, crypto relief funds come with other baggage as well, Vishwanath noted.

Cryptocurrencies are known for their price volatility, making them risky assets to rely on in times of economic crisis. Citizens could lose significant wealth if their favoured assets plummeted. The chances of abuse of crypto assets can also not be ruled out. In an unstable environment, the risk of abuse is higher because the government may use cryptocurrencies for personal gain or to avoid sanctions. Lack of understanding among the population can also lead to uninformed investments or fraud,” he said.

Essentially, geopolitically troubled countries may consider cryptocurrencies as a complementary financial tool, but full reliance on them is risky. Industry experts advise governments to diversify financial strategies and combine traditional finances with crypto assets.

OnePlus Open Marketing Images Leak; Price, Design, and Colour Options Tipped Ahead of Debut

OnePlus Open marketing images have leaked online, days ahead of the debut of the first foldable phone from OnePlus. These pictures show off the design of the smartphone, including the external camera module. Both the inner and outer displays on the upcoming OnePlus Open are shown in the images. The foldable handset is shown to be available in two colour options — earlier reports suggested that OnePlus’ first foldable phone would be available in Emerald Eclipse and Voyage Black colourways.

Ahead of the upcoming launch of the OnePlus Open, German tech publication WinFuture has leaked 10 images of the foldable handset. These marketing images show the inner and outer displays of the handset — the OnePlus Open is said to sport a 7.82-inch (2,268 x 2,440 pixels) OLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.31-inch (1,116 x 2,484 pixels) OLED outer screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the leaked images also reveal the external camera module that was not clearly visible in previously leaked images of the OnePlus Open. The top-center aligned circular camera island at the back is seen with the Hasselblad branding found on other OnePlus flagship smartphones. The LED flash is located on the top left corner of the rear panel.

As previous leaks have suggested, the upcoming OnePlus Open is expected to feature a triple camera setup, with a 48-megapixel primary camera with a wide-angle lens, a 48-megapixel camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support.

According to the WinFuture report, the OnePlus Open will be launched on October 19. The handset will reportedly be available with a price tag of $1,700 (roughly Rs. 1,41,500) in the US. The handset will also be launched in other markets, including Europe and India.

A recent hands-on video also leaked the design of the upcoming OnePlus Open, suggesting that the handset would sport a barely perceptible display crease on the inner screen. The video also showed that the handset will be equipped with OnePlus’ tri-state alert slider, similar to the company’s flagship phones. We can expect to learn more about the smartphone ahead of its expected debut later this month.
