Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Announced for PC, Will Launch on May 16

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, the open-world action-adventure game from Sucker Punch, is coming to PC, continuing the trend of first-party PlayStation titles releasing on Windows. The game will launch with the expected suite of PC features on May 16. The port, predictably, is helmed by veterans Nixxes Software, the Sony-owned studio that has previously worked on PC ports for first-party PlayStation titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Nixxes made the announcement on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday, adding the studio had been working on the port for the past year. The Director’s Cut version of the game will include the full game, the Iki Island expansion, and the cooperative online multiplayer Legends mode.

The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima will get platform-specific features like unlocked frame rates, a full range of graphical settings and presets, and customisable mouse and keyboard controls. Nixxes also confirmed ultrawide monitor support, with the game fully optimized for 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions, and an overkill 48:9 resolution for triple monitor setups.

Additionally, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be aided by performance boosting technologies like Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS with AI upscaling and frame generation options. Those with high-end hardware can also opt to use Nvidia DLAA or FSR 3 Native AA to improve image quality even further.

The PC port of the game promises extensive controller support, as well, but a PlayStation DualSense controller will bring more immersion with haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features.

Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020 as a PlayStation exclusive on the PS4. A Director’s Cut version of the game, which includes the Iki island story expansion, came out in 2021 for PS5 and PS4. The game, set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, puts players in the shoes of Jin Sakai, a samurai on the path of revenge.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is currently up for pre-order on Steam and Epic Games Store, priced at Rs. 3,999. Pre-ordering will unlock in-game items like the New Game+ Horse, Traveler’s Attire, and Broken Armor dyes from Baku’s shop when the game launches on May 16.

Nixxes is also set release the PC port of PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West, with the Complete Edition of the game set to release on March 21. The studio revealed the detailed list of PC system requirements for the game this week, confirming that the graphically demanding title would need at least 16GB of RAM to be played on PC.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition PC System Requirements Confirmed Ahead of March 21 Launch

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is set to arrive on PC on March 21. Ahead of its launch, developer Nixxes Software has released a detailed list of PC system requirements for the game. The studio, tasked with porting the PlayStation exclusive to PC, has also detailed the customisation options that will be available at launch. Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best-looking games on PS5, but Nixxes has opted for an approach that would allow the visually demanding game to run “on a wide variety of PC hardware.”

In a post on the PlayStation Blog Tuesday, Nixxes Software confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West on PC would include graphics presets ranging from very low to very high. “This allows gamers with the latest hardware to push their systems, while also providing a great experience on less powerful PCs,” the developer said.

Nixxes also said that the wide-ranging graphical customisation options would allow the game to run on portable gaming devices. This means that Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go owners should not face problems while playing the game on their handheld device.

It’s worth noting that the Horizon Forbidden West PC port would require at least 16GB of RAM to play across all graphical presents. The game will also require SSD storage of 150GB and Windows 10 64-bit (version 1909 or higher) operating system. For the higher end of the performance spectrum at 4K resolution, Nvidia’s RTX 40 series or AMD 7000 series cards would be needed.

The game will also feature a field-of-view (FOV) slider and settings for effects like motion blur, film grain, radial blur, lens flares, bloom and vignette.

Horizon Forbidden West was announced for PC last month, setting a March 21 release date. Nixxes Software, the Sony-owned studio that has previously worked on PC ports for first-party PlayStation titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, had also confirmed some of the PC features of the port like support for Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS upscaling techniques and ultra-wide resolutions. The Complete Edition of the sci-fi open-world epic will include the Burning Shores expansion from 2023. Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition Is Reportedly the First PS5 Game to Ship on Two Discs

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is reportedly the first two-disc PS5 game. As per an image posted by the ‘Does it play?’ Twitter account, the base game, its Burning Shores expansion, and some digital goodies all total out to 121GB, and will be available on the two discs included in the physical edition. The game is slated to launch Friday, October 6, and with that, it has beaten the upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth to the punch, which was also planned for release on two discs. This move is a big win for console owners who value physical media — or rather, the ability to access games anywhere and anytime without restrictions such as a constant internet connection.

The hefty new edition is priced at $59.99 (about Rs. 4,999) and includes a Horizon Forbidden West digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk digital comic book, a few extra poses and makeup in the photo mode, and some outfits that can be unlocked via in-game progression. As mentioned before, all of this is packaged with the acclaimed 2022 RPG, which charts the adventures of young huntress Aloy across a majestic post-apocalyptic frontier, in hopes of protecting mankind from an infectious red blight. There’s also the Burning Shores expansion — released in April — which turned the city of Los Angeles into a volcanic archipelago, bringing new machines to hunt.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Review

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is also headed to PC, albeit sometime in early 2024. Nixxes Software, PlayStation’s in-house porters who brought Spider-Man Remastered to PC, has been tasked with this job and the release will indeed include all the aforementioned bonus content. There’s no word on PC-exclusive features yet, but going by past ports, we can hope to see keyboard + mouse compatibility, alongside support for ray-tracing, Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR-based upscaling tech, and being able to experience the game’s beautiful vistas across ultra-wide displays. This adds to haptic feedback when using the PS5 DualSense controller on a wired connection.

For the time being, it appears PlayStation will continue sticking to CEO Jim Ryan’s promise of bringing PS exclusives to PC two or three years after their initial launch. As for whether this changes after his retirement in March next year, only time will tell. In May, developer Guerilla Games confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West sold 8.4 million copies across PS4 and PS5, with the franchise as a whole — includes the prequel Horizon Zero Dawn, its Frozen Wilds DLC, and the PS VR2 game — selling 32.7 million units. At the time, the team also claimed that Aloy’s adventures would continue in a sequel.

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition launches October 6 on the PS5.
