Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Tab S9 Design Tipped in Leaked Renders Ahead of Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 — expected to launch later this month at the company’s next Galaxy Unpacked event — have surfaced online in the form of leaked renders. The company’s next generation of foldable phones are set to succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 that were unveiled by the company last year. The most notable change anticipated this year is the addition of a much larger external display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Meanwhile, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 has also been spotted in leaked renders, ahead of its debut.

Images of what appear to be official renders of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 shared by WinFuture show the upcoming smartphones and tablets from various angles, ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled to take place in South Korea on June 26. The images also hint at the colour options of the devices, which are expected to look quite similar to the models launched last year.

The device that is seeing the most important externally visible hardware change this year is the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which is said to feature a much larger 3.4-inch outer screen, compared to its predecessor — the Galaxy Z Flip 4 — that sported a 1.9-inch cover display. The smartphone is also tipped to launch with support for optimised versions of apps from Google and Samsung that will work on the larger external screen.

Meanwhile, the images of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 suggest that the phone will look extremely similar to the previous smartphone in the series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It is shown to feature a triple rear camera setup with a small tweak involving the location of the LED flash.

The most noteworthy changes to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone this year are expected to be a new Snapdragon 8 series flagship chipset and a redesigned hinge. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are shown in beige, black, green, and purple colour options.

The leaked images of the Galaxy Tab S9 suggest the company’s upcoming tablet lineup will sport slim bezels, while the Galaxy Tab S9 appears to feature a display notch, which will reportedly house a front-facing camera unit. The Galaxy Tab S9+ and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra are both shown to be equipped with dual rear cameras, while all three models are shown with an S Pen.

From the Nothing Phone 2 to the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, several new smartphones are expected to make their debut in July. Spy Shot of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Confirms Its Biggest Upgrade for This Year: Details

With the expected launch event of Samsung’s Galaxy Z series of foldable devices set for some time in July, the leaks have begun to intensify and now, we finally have our first look at the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be the device which will pack in more upgrades between the two foldables to be announced this year, and this is mainly down to the much-anticipated larger outer display. The larger outer display is expected to replace the mainly cosmetic, tiny external display, which has been a staple on Samsung’s flip phones since the first Galaxy Z Flip model was announced in early 2020.

The image leaked by tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) shows the upcoming clamshell foldable inside a rather boxy-looking protective case, which is commonly used to conceal the design of the smartphone during testing. Regardless of the case, it’s easy to tell that the phone inside is the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which has shown up in several leaks over the past few months.

While the case manages to conceal the overall design of the device, there are still openings for the cameras, buttons and the hinge. Mainly, there’s a large cutout on the top cover, which reveals the new outer display.

The larger outer display in the image appears to be in a standby or an always-on display mode for showcasing the time with a clock. More importantly, the cutout is quite large, confirming that the display has a large touch-friendly surface unlike the outgoing Galaxy Z Flip 4 model. Still, it does not appear as big as the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra‘s outer display which has its rear cameras embedded in it.

Also confirmed, thanks to the leaked image, is the new gapless flat folding design, which was not possible on previous models due to the old hinge mechanism. The new Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have a new hinge design which will allow both halves of the foldable to sit flat against one another. This makes for a cleaner gapless look, which is present on recently launched vertical foldables models, and will also prevent dust and debris from settling on the inner folding display.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be announced alongside the bigger Galaxy Z Fold 5 model at a launch event which is set to take place in Seoul, Korea. The Galaxy Z Flip 5, according to a recent report, is expected to have a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED primary display with 120Hz refresh rate. The upgraded outer AMOLED display is expected to have always-on capability — like on the iPhone 14 Pro models —and will measure 3.4-inches diagonally with an HD resolution.

The phone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and will have 8 GB of RAM. The phone is expected to be available in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. Expect two 12-megapixel cameras at the back with minor changes over the outgoing model and a 3,700mAh battery with 25W wired charging support.

Samsung hosted its first Galaxy Unpacked event of this year on February 1 in San Francisco. As we are inching closer towards the launch of the next-generation Galaxy Z foldable smartphone series, Lee Young-hee, President of Samsung DX’s Global Marketing Center has reportedly confirmed the location of the next Unpacked event. The Suwon headquartered company would host its next major Galaxy Unpacked event to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in Seoul, South Korea instead of the US or Europe. This is not the first time Samsung is choosing Seoul as a location for the release of its premium handsets. The launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series took place virtually in Seoul in 2020.

As per a report by Yonhap News (Korean), Lee Young-hee revealed that the upcoming Unpacked event will take place in Seoul, South Korea. She reportedly made the confirmation during a press Q&A at the Samsung Ho-Am Award Ceremony at the Shilla Hotel. When asked about the reason for conducting the event in Seoul, Young-hee reportedly said, “because Korea is meaningful and important.”

In previous years, Samsung held its major smartphone launch events either in the US or Europe. In 2020, the company unveiled the Galaxy Note 20 series in South Korea, though it was a virtual event.

Samsung is yet to confirm the exact date of the next Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event. However, it is rumoured to take place on July 26. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to make their debut at the event alongside Galaxy Watch 6 lineup. The Galaxy Tab S9 series, comprising the base Galaxy Tab S9, the Galaxy Tab S9+, and the high-end Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra are also expected to go official during the event.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to come with a price tag of $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000)

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to launch in August this year. While we haven’t heard anything from the South Korean brand about its 2023 foldable smartphones yet, a new report claims that the Samsung flagships will debut with One UI 5.1.1 based on Google’s latest Android 13. The firmware with One UI 5.1.1 is reportedly appearing for the model numbers SM-F731N and SM-F946N, which are said to be associated with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. They are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

According to a report by SamMobile, the launch of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will mark the release of the latest version of the company’s custom skin. Samsung is reportedly testing One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13 on the two upcoming foldable phones now.

The South Korean variant of Galaxy Z Fold 5 (SM-F946N) and Galaxy Z Flip 5 (SM-F731N) were reportedly found running One UI 5.1.1. The former was seen with firmware version F731NKSU0AWD5, while the latter is said to be associated with firmware version F946NKSU0AWD5.

Samsung One UI 5.1 was unveiled alongside the Samsung Galaxy S23 series in February. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 to Offer Easier Battery Replacements: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to go official in August during the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event. Ahead of the official debut, a new report surrounding these flagship Samsung foldable smartphones suggests their battery specifications. The battery pack of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 reportedly appeared on the South Korean certification body Safety Korea suggesting their battery model numbers. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to carry two batteries with model numbers EB-BF731ABY and EB-BF732ABY. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 could also pack two batteries with model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY. They are said to come with a pull tab to make battery replacement easier.

As per a report by GalaxyClub (Dutch), the batteries of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 have been certified by the South Korean safety certification authority. The Galaxy Z Fold 5’s battery pack reportedly appeared on the site with model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY. The batteries are manufactured by ITM Semiconductor in Vietnam and by China’s Amperex Technology Limited. The Galaxy Z Flip 5’s batteries are said to be shown with model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY. All four battery units reportedly include a pull tab for easy removal of the battery from the handsets.

The EB-BF731ABY battery of Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to have a 971mAh capacity, smaller than last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 4’s rated capacity of 1,040mAh. This means the next-gen Galaxy clamshell foldable phone will get a smaller battery than the predecessor. However, it can be confirmed after knowing the capacity of the primary battery with model number EB-BF732ABY.

Specifications of Samsung’s 2023 foldable phones have popped up online many times. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are said to come with a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon for Galaxy SoC. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 could pack a dual rear camera unit, including a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle shooter. The Flip phone is also said to offer a larger cover display.

Both models are said to come with the same storage options as their predecessors. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly arrive with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage models. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is tipped to be offered in Beige, Gray, Light Green, and Light Pink colour options, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be launched in Beige, Black, and Light Blue shades.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 Listed on Geekbench With Interesting Scores: Report

With Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series now official, the company’s upcoming foldables have begun to appear in numerous leaks. Tagged as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, the two foldables are bound to get some competition this year from Chinese brand’s as Oppo has already launched its first clamshell foldable, the Find N2 Flip in India. Samsung’s upcoming foldables have shown up in past leaks suggesting design and camera-related information, but we now have some Geekbench listings that hint a bit more about its core specifications and performance.

First spotted by GalaxyClub.nl, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 appear to make use of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is also currently in use in Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has been listed with the model number SM-F731U, while the bigger Galaxy Z Fold 5 has been listed with the model number SM-F946U. Going by the model numbers and Samsung’s naming convention, it’s clear that these are the US models of the devices.

The site also points out that Galaxy Z Flip 5 features 8GB of RAM on the tested model, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 appears to have 12GB of RAM. While both smartphones use the same processor, their respective clock speeds indicate that Samsung is going with the customised version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which has a higher clock speed compared to the standard SoC.

Coming to the scores, the testing was done on Geekbench 6. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 seems to have managed a score of 2,030 and 5,213 points, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 achieved 2,014 and 5,022 points in their respective single and multi-core tests. The scores do appear a bit higher compared to the results that we achieved in our reviews of the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Galaxy S23, which is available with 8GB RAM managed 1,944 and 5,008 points while the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 12GB RAM managed 1,918 and 5,042 points in their respective Geekbench 6 single and multi-core tests.

It is interesting to see Samsung go with the same processor for its Galaxy S and Galaxy Z lineup this year. The smartphone giant went with a different strategy last year when it came to processors on its flagship smartphones, where it chose the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for its Galaxy S22 series and then went for the improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for its Galaxy Z series of devices.

Previous leaks have pointed out that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature an outer display that’s very similar to the outgoing Galaxy Z Fold 4 model. The phone is said to feature a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 23.1:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to weigh about 254g and will come with an IPX8 rating. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rumoured to pack a bigger outer display, although there are no specific details about how big this outer display will be.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 as per a previous report is said to be available with UFS 4.0 storage in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also expected to be offered in the same storage variants as the current model. An older leak had suggested that the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 model will feature cameras that are similar to the outgoing model as well.

The newly launched Oppo Find N2 Flip is the first foldable from the company to debut in India. But does it have what it takes to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4? Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 Storage Configuration Details Leak Ahead of Launch: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are likely to make their debut later this year as the successors to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphones, respectively. Details of these purported foldable handsets have previously been spotted online, and a recent report suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a larger cover screen than the recently launched Oppo Find N2 Flip. Meanwhile, storage configurations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have now surfaced online ahead of their debut.

According to a SamMobile report, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, which are precisely the same as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. All of these configurations will feature UFS 4.0 storage, which is also available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of smartphones, except the base Galaxy S23 model with 128GB of storage, which offers slower UFS 3.1 speeds.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly arrive in the same storage options as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This means the handset could be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage models. As per the report, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 128GB of storage will feature “slower” UFS 3.1 storage compared to the other variants, like the previously mentioned 128GB Galaxy S23 model.

Earlier this week, tipster Ice Universe claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Flip 5 would sport a larger cover screen than the Oppo Find N2 Flip foldable phone that was recently launched in global markets. It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch outer display, while the Oppo Find N2 Flip is equipped with a larger 3.26-inch AMOLED screen.

While we don’t expect the see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for a few months — these handsets are expected to make their debut during the same time that the company would previously launch its Galaxy Note series of smartphones — details of yet another foldable smartphone were recently leaked online. A report suggests that the Motorola Razr 2023 will sport a large cover display than its predecessor.

Leaked images of the purported handset shared by tipster Evan Blass show a large display that nearly fills up one of the rear panels, even surrounding the dual rear camera setup. This could allow for even more interaction with apps and controls on the outer display, reducing the need to open the device for some tasks.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series of smartphones was launched earlier this week and the South Korean firm’s high-end handsets have seen a few upgrades across all three models.
