Poco Phone With Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC Teased; Could be the Poco F6

Poco F6 has been doing rounds of the rumour mill the past few weeks. The phone has been spotted on certification sites suggesting its imminent India launch. It is said to come as a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13 Turbo. Neither Redmi nor Poco has officially announced the said handsets yet but several leaks have hinted at their key features. Now, a senior Poco official has teased an upcoming phone with the newest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC and reignited speculations that it could be the Poco F6.

Poco Global executive David Liu (@DavidBlueLS) teased the upcoming launch of a Poco handset in a post on X (formerly Twitter) and suggested that the model will be the first global debut of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. He did not confirm the moniker of the upcoming smartphone. It is being speculated to be the Poco F6 since the model has been widely spotted in online certification sites and leaks.

Although the executive mentioned the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro in his post which recently launched in China with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, it is unlikely that the purported Poco model will share any similarities with it, outside of the processor.

Previously, the Poco F6 model has been tipped to launch as a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13 Turbo, which is expected to be unveiled in China soon. The company has officially teased the launch of a new Redmi series in China but has not yet confirmed the moniker.

Notably, the Redmi Note 13 Turbo has been tipped to come with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate, and a 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging. It is also likely to ship with Android 14-based HyperOS skin.

Moto X50 Ultra, Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, and More Phones Confirmed to Launch With Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset on Monday, March 18. It is said to be a more affordable version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which has been widely used in numerous flagship-level smartphones since its reveal last year. Following the launch of the latest, artificial intelligence-backed Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, several brands have confirmed the 4nm octa-core chipset for some of their upcoming models. Here are all the phones that are confirmed to get the new SoC. 

Moto X50 Ultra

In a Weibo post, Motorola confirmed that the upcoming Moto X50 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The company has teased this model as an “AI Mobile Phone.” Outside China, this model is said to launch as the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in certain global markets including India. In the US, the phone may be introduced with the moniker Motorola Edge+ (2024).

Meanwhile, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is confirmed to launch in India with a curved 6.7-inch 1.5K resolution 144Hz display with 2,000nits peak brightness, a 50-megapixel triple rear camera unit, and three colour options.

Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro

Xiaomi also announced in a Weibo post that the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro will launch globally with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The model is also set to come with the company’s HyperOS user interface. No other details about the handset have been revealed by Xiaomi.

However, a Xiaomi model with the model number 24053PY09I was spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification site. This handset is tipped to launch in India with the moniker Xiaomi 14 Lite and in China as the Xiaomi Civi 4. The company has yet to confirm both these models. 

Redmi Note 13 Turbo

Redmi revealed in a Weibo post that an upcoming mid-range smartphone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The company has not confirmed the name of the model but has teased it with the tag “Redmi New Series” (translated from Chinese). It is expected to be the Redmi Note 13 Turbo, which recently leaked online. This model has been tipped to launch as the Poco F6 outside China.

The Redmi Note 13 Turbo is expected to ship Android 14-based HyperOS. It is said to feature a 6.78-inch 144Hz 1.5K OLED display and a 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support.

iQoo Z9 Turbo

In another Weibo post, iQoo stated that the iQoo Z9 series, set to launch in China in April, will come with the newly launched Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The firm did not list the models expected to be unveiled in this lineup. The base iQoo Z9 5G was recently unveiled in India with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It is, therefore, speculated that a model carrying the moniker iQoo Z9 Turbo, which has been spotted in earlier online leaks, may feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The Turbo model is likely to sport a 1.5K display and carry a 6,000mAh battery.

Redmi Note 13 Turbo Specifications Tipped, Said to Get Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC

Amidst leaks of upcoming Qualcomm processors for mobile devices, there’s now a new leak that suggests two upcoming smartphones that could feature it. Qualcomm, as per a recent report, is expected to announce its latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC alongside a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 at an event on March 18 in China. Now a leak has hinted that a new Redmi Note series phone called the Turbo is expected to feature one of the newly launched processors. More details of this mystery handset, which is also said to be rebranded as the Poco F6 in some markets, have been leaked.

The information comes from a known tipster, Digital Chat Station, who put up a post on Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo. The post suggests specifications of the previously rumoured device tagged as the Redmi Note 13 Turbo marked as model V2352A. The Turbo, according to an older report, is also said to get rebranded as the Poco F6 in certain markets (including India).

Getting into the details about the Redmi Turbo, it is said to have some ‘flagship killer’ specifications. Key among these are the soon to be announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The processor is said to feature one Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 3.01GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores with a clock speed of 2.61GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores with a clock speed of 1.84GHz for its CPU.

Additional details from this leak include more information about the phone’s display. The tipster claims that the phone will have a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The display will also feature a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and also offer pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming at 2,160Hz. The phone is said to run Android 14 out of the box, which means it should run Xiaomi’s HyperOS custom skin. There’s also information about the Redmi Note 13 Turbo’s battery which the tipster claims has a capacity of 6,000mAh and can be charged using a cable at 80W.

Details about the phone getting re-branded as the Poco F6 for India are a bit conflicting. This is mainly because the currently available Poco F5 (Review) has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, meaning that the ideal processor upgrade would have been the unreleased Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC. There are higher chances that Redmi Note 13 Turbo could be re-branded as the Poco F6 Pro instead, which according to a recent leak is said to offer a more relatable Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Redmi Note 13 Series Availability, Specifications Leaked; Tipped to Launch in Four Variants

Redmi Note 13 series is expected to launch soon as a successor to the Redmi Note 12 lineup, which includes the Redmi Note 12 4G, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, and Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Some models from the upcoming series have recently been spotted on certification sites. Leaked specifications of the purported Redmi Note 13 phones have also been doing rounds on the Internet in the past few weeks. Now, a new report has surfaced suggesting the models, availability, and some key features of the phones.

According a Xiaomiui report, the Redmi Note 13 series will include a Redmi Note 13 4G, Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro or Pro+, and a Note 13 Turbo variant. The Redmi Note 13 4G with the model number N7 with the codename ‘sapphire’ is tipped to launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset in both NFC and non-NFC variants. This model is said to be available in Europe, Turkey, and Indonesia but is not likely to launch in India.

Meanwhile, a Redmi Note 13 5G variant with the model number N17 codenamed ‘gold’ is said to be powered by a Mediatek Dimensity SoC. The phone is expected to come with a 108-megapixel primary rear sensor accompanied by a secondary ultra-wide lens and a macro lens. It is expected to be marketed in Europe and India and in select markets may be rebranded as a Poco handset.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro or Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is tipped to carry the model number N16U with the codename ‘zicron,’. It is said to offer with a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP3 primary rear sensor alongside an 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The handset could be powered by a Mediatek Dimensity SoC and is expected to come with a 16-megapixel front camera sensor. It is likely to be launched in India and other global markets. An earlier report suggested that one of the Redmi Note 13 models is expected to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC.

Finally, the top-of-the-line Redmi Note 13 Turbo codenamed ‘garnet’ is also tipped to carry a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP3 primary rear sensor and could pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. This is said to be the first Redmi Note Turbo model to launch globally without any rebranding.
