Nothing Speaker Said to Be in the Works, Leaked Render Tips Design Details

Nothing, the UK-based electronics brand led by ex-OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is reportedly gearing up to launch a speaker. Ahead of any official announcement, a render of the yet-to-be-announced speaker has surfaced online, showing its design and a few specifications. The render suggests a semi-transparent design for the purported audio device. The speaker is shown to have a boxy design as well. Nothing has already forayed beyond earphones and launched its first smartphone, Nothing Phone 1, in July last year. The company marked its entry into the audio space with Nothing Ear 1 earbuds in 2021.

Known tipster Kuba Wojciechowski (@Za_Raczke), in collaboration with 91Mobiles, leaked a purported render of the Nothing speaker. It appears to have a boxy design with volume and power buttons arranged on the right side of the device. The Nothing branding is seen inked in a circular ring on the front of the speaker. It is expected to come with a unique design language similar to the Nothing Ear 1 and Nothing Phone 1.

The leaked image shows speaker cutouts. It could feature rubber paddings at the bottom to ensure grip. Apart from this, there is little information that has been leaked about the speaker as of now.

However, Nothing is yet to reveal plans to unveil a speaker. Also, the final model name of the speaker is not yet known. So, this information should be considered with a pinch of salt.

The purported speaker could be the third audio product from Nothing, following Nothing Ear Stick and Ear 1 TWS earbuds that were launched globally in 2021. The Nothing Ear 1 buds were launched with a price tag of Rs. 5,999, while the Nothing Ear Stick is priced at Rs. 8,999.

The Nothing Phone 1 was unveiled in July last year with a starting price tag of Rs. 32,999 for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. It is powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.

Nothing Phone 1 Could Be Getting Android 13-Based Nothing OS 1.5 Update Soon: Report

The Nothing Phone 1 is set to receive the much-awaited and long overdue Android 13 update. In a gradual roll out, Nothing Phone 1 devices will reportedly begin to get the next software update by the end of this week. Carl Pie, the co-founder of OnePlus, founded the independent consumer tech startup called Nothing around two years ago in London, UK. Along with the Phone 1, Nothing has also released two versions of true wireless earphones so far.

While an official confirmation is awaited, according to a 91Mobiles report, Nothing support team has claimed that Android 13 will begin rolling out by the end of this week in the UK in a response to a user’s query.

The company wished to test Android 13 thoroughly before deploying it as an OTA update to its devices. Select testers of the phone did get to run the Nothing OS 1.5 beta version, that is based on the Android 13 update. Nothing launched an open beta for the Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 update back in December.

In an official blog post, Nothing had provided details about the latest Android 13-based update. The new OS provides Nothing Phone 1 users a 50 percent boost in app loading speed. The update also introduces multi-language support for third-party apps, and adds a new weather app featuring the company’s customised Nothing UI.

The software update is also expected to bring a new user interface for volume control, new glyph ringtone, wallpapers, as well as notification sounds. A new design for media control and a self-repair feature have also been reported as being part of the updated package for the Phone 1.

Google released its latest Android 13 on August 15, 2022. Google Pixel phones were the first devices to receive this Android update last year itself.

The update later rolled out for MotorolaOnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Asus, and Samsung smartphones as well.

The update could take as long as the end of February to reach majority Nothing Phone 1 users, including in India. Meanwhile, Nothing is also gearing up to launch the Nothing Phone 2 later this year. The Nothing Phone 2 will reportedly have at least 12GB of RAM, a 120Hz AMOLED display, 5,000mAH battery, and an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chipset.

The OnePlus 11 5G was launched at the company’s Cloud 11 launch event which also saw the debut of several other devices. We discuss this new handset and all of OnePlus’ new hardware on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Ear Stick Get Discounts of Up to Rs. 3,000 Ahead of Valentine’s Day: All Details

Nothing has announced discounts on two of its products currently available in India. The Valentine’s Day discounts will only be available for a limited time and will apply to the London-based technology company’s only smartphone offering, the Nothing Phone 1 and its lone TWS offering, the Nothing Ear Stick. The Nothing Phone 1 was launched in India in July last year at a starting price of Rs. 32,999 while the Ear Stick TWS earphones were launched in October last year at Rs. 8,999. The Nothing Ear 1, which was the company’s first product launched in 2021, was discontinued in 2022 after stocks in India were depleted.

The company has announced offers on its products globally as part of its Valentine’s Day celebration. In India, the company’s Nothing Ear Stick TWS earphones will be available at a discounted price of Rs. 6,999, down from Rs. 8,999, a flat discount of Rs. 2,000. Nothing’s Phone 1 will be sold at Rs 26,999 during the sale, instead of its official price which is listed as Rs. 29,999 on Flipkart. The TWS earphones are available on sale via Flipkart and Myntra. The discounts are valid till February 15, according to the firm.

While the Nothing Ear Stick is available at a heavily discounted price, the Nothing Phone 1 has been receiving discounts since launch. Launched at Rs 32,999, the Phone 1 received a price hike to Rs 33,999 last year. Since then, it has seen plenty of discounts. The phone’s online price tag has been hovering around Rs. 27,000 (for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant) for some time now and has also been included in our Best Smartphones under Rs. 30,000 buyers guide. This means that the discount on the handset is not as noteworthy as the price cut for the Nothing Ear Stick.

The Nothing Phone 1 sports a 6.5-inch, 120Hz, full-HD+ OLED panel and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC. The phone has a unique design with a transparent rear panel along with an array of LEDs for notifications, and is available in two finishes (black and white) and in three variants. The second 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage variant is now priced at Rs. 27,999, while the top-end 12GB + 256GB configuration is currently available at Rs 35,999. The phone has two rear cameras which includes a 50-megapixel primary and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. A 16-megapixel front-facing camera takes care of selfies and video calls. The device has a 4,500mAh battery and comes with some premium features like an IP53 rating and 15W wireless charging.

The Nothing Ear Stick, unlike the previous Nothing Ear 1 TWS earphones, has an outer-ear fit and does not feature active noise cancellation like the previously available model. Just like the rest of Nothing’s product lineup, the Ear Sticks have a transparent design in a unique cylindrical case. The Ear Sticks, like the Nothing Ear 1 earphones, also feature an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series of smartphones was launched earlier this week and the South Korean firm’s high-end handsets have seen a few upgrades across all three models. What about the increase in pricing? We discuss this and more on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.

Nothing Phone 1, the first smartphone from the UK brand, led by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, was unveiled globally in July. Now the company has begun rolling out an update to Nothing OS 1.1.4 along with the September 2022 Android security patch for the handset. The update brings a host of camera improvements and introduces power-consumption optimisation for the Always On Display alongside bug fixes for the company’s first smartphone. Updating to Nothing OS 1.1.4 will let users add a Nothing watermark to their photos and offers support for the low latency high-definition audio codec (LHDC) codec on the Nothing Phone 1.

Carl Pei announced the rollout of Nothing OS 1.1.4 for the Nothing Phone 1 via a tweet on Sunday. The new over-the-air (OTA) firmware update comes with new features, several camera improvements, bug fixes, and performance optimisations. As mentioned, the update is 136MB in size.

The camera setup of the Nothing Phone 1 appears to benefit the most from the latest Nothing OS update. Like some new Xiaomi, Realme, and Poco smartphones, the Nothing Phone 1 will now let users add a watermark to their photos. The update improves the navigation accessibility on the phone by adding an option to flip the 3-button navigation bar. It also brings support for the LHDC audio codec.

According to Nothing’s changelog, the update includes the September 2022 Android security patches. It also optimises the Always On Display feature to increase the battery life of the handset. As per the changelog, it adds a new UI for system updates and provides improved thermal performance, along with an improved face unlock algorithm.

Apart from the general bug fixes, the Nothing OS version 1.1.4 fixes network issues occurring with certain carriers. It also addresses issues that displayed incoming calls as coming from an unknown contact and a fingerprint issue with the HDFC Bank app.
