Lava Z4 Plus With 4,000mAh Battery Reportedly Spotted on FCC Website, Design Tipped

Lava Z4 Plus could launch soon, as the phone has been reportedly spotted on the FCC certification website. The handset could succeed the Lava Z4, which was launched alongside the Lava Z1, Lava Z2, and Lava Z6 handsets in January 2021. The phone came with a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display, a 13-megapixel triple rear camera setup, a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Lava Z4 Plus is expected to be an upgrade over the base model. It being listed on the FCC site could suggest its imminent launch. The listing reportedly also includes the design renders of the phone.

According to a MySmartPrice report, the purported Lava Z4 Plus handset was spotted on the FCC certification website suggesting some of its key features along with design renders. The phone is seen in a black colour option.

It will reportedly feature a triple rear camera unit as per the listed design renders. The back panel of the Lava Z4 Plus is said to offer three slightly raised circular camera modules on the top left corner, arranged in a triangular fashion. It is said to be accompanied by an LED flash unit. The images also suggest that the phone could get a centre-aligned waterdrop notch at the top of the display to house the front camera, as per the report.

Meanwhile, the bottom edge of the Lava Z4 Plus is said to feature a speaker grille, a micro-USB port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The power button, which is said to double as a fingerprint sensor, along with the volume rockers, are placed on the right edge of the handset, according to the report. The SIM card slot will reportedly be on the left side of the handset. The phone is also likely to have a dedicated microSD card slot.

The report says that the listing shows the Lava Z4 Plus packs a 4,000mAh battery with 7.5W wired charging support. No further details about the smartphone are known as of now. The listing, although suggesting an imminent launch, did not specify a release date. It can be expected to arrive in the markets soon.

Lava Z4 was priced at Rs. 8,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model when it launched in India. It is offered in Aqua Blue and Flame Red colour options.

Moto G54 5G Bags Several Certifications, Renders Tip 50-Megapixel Dual Rear Cameras

Moto G54 5G launch could be around the corner, if recent leaks are any indication. The exact launch date of the new G-series phone has not been announced by Motorola yet, but the handset has surfaced on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database ahead of its reveal. It has also been allegedly spotted on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) websites, hinting at its imminent arrival in India and other markets. Additionally, alleged renders of the smartphone have leaked online. In the leaked images, the Moto G53 successor is seen in three distinct shades with a hole-punch display. The renders also suggest a dual rear camera setup on the device.

The Moto G54 5G is listed on the FCC database with model number XT-2343-1. The listing suggests that it would be a dual-SIM smartphone with support for Wi-Fi 802.11 /b/g/n/ac, NFC, and Bluetooth.

Tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) posted screenshots of alleged TDRA and BIS listings of Moto G54 5G on X (formerly Twitter). As per the post, the handset bearing model number XT-2343-2 has bagged approval from TDRA. The alleged BIS listing also has a similar XT-2343-5 model number.

Additionally, tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) posted alleged renders of Moto G54 5G on X. The handset is seen with slightly thick bezels on the sides and has a centrally placed hole-punch cutout on the display to house the selfie camera. On the rear, it appears to have a dual rear camera setup along with an LED flash. The camera sensors are seen arranged in a rectangular-shaped island at the upper left corner of the rear panel. The phone is shown in black, blue and green colour options.

The design of the Moto G54 5G looks identical to its predecessor — Moto G53 5G. The latter was launched in China in December last year with a price tag of CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 10,500) for the base 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model

The Moto G53 5G features a 6.5-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by an unspecified octa-core Snapdragon SoC. A dual rear camera setup that houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, 128GB of onboard storage, 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support are the key specifications of the handset.

The Motorola Edge 40 recently made its debut in the country as the successor to the Edge 30 that was launched last year. Should you buy this phone instead of the Nothing Phone 1 or the Realme Pro+? FCC hopeful Gigi Sohn could be named chair by White House if confirmed: sources

If Gigi Sohn gets confirmed to join the Federal Communications Commission, the Biden administration may install the ultra-progressive telecom maven as chair of the powerful panel, insiders told On The Money.

In a Tuesday Senate hearing, Sohn claimed that any rumor she wants to be chair is “false.” However, sources say Sohn has privately told friends that the only reason she has weathered her year-and-a-half candidacy is because she has been assured by White House officials that they plan to make her chair.

“It would be incredibly embarrassing to pull her now,” one source noted.

Specifically, people close to Sohn say the administration believes it will be easier to get Senate approval for her nomination as a commissioner and then appoint her as chair to replace Jessica Rosenworcel, a Democratic Obama appointee. Indeed, Biden officials followed a similar playbook when they installed Lina Khan – a left-leaning, anti-tech trustbuster – as chair of the Federal Trade Commission in 2021.

Sohn did not respond to a request for comment; the White House did not respond to a request for comment.

It’s unclear if Sohn will win the Senate nomination, with Democrat Joe Manchin reportedly still on the fence. If  people say Democrats are hopeful she’ll pull it off — and eventually replace current FCC chair Jessica Rosenworcel as chair, insiders told On The Money.

Conservatives fret that Sohn — who has previously slammed Fox as “dangerous to our democracy” and encouraged the FCC to examine if conservative-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group is “qualified” to keep its broadcast license — would move as FCC chair to revoke the license of right-leaning talk radio stations and even cable channels.

“If your license gets pulled your program is yanked immediately,” a source added. Most recently, Sohn worked at Locast — a startup that captured and retransmitted broadcast signals online without permission from cable companies.

Locast was slapped with a $32 million lawsuit that ultimately cost just $1 million to settle after it became clear Sohn would be nominated for the FCC, The Post reported.

Poco X5 5G Spotted on BIS, FCC Databases; Expected to Launch Soon in India, US

Content: Poco X5 5G launch in India and US markets is expected soon as the handset has reportedly received approval from the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Poco X4 series made its debut earlier this year as the successor to Poco X3 series, through the launch of Poco X4 GT and Poco X4 Pro 5G models. However, the latest certification website database’s reported citing indicate that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already begun working its successor in the Poco X5 series which will feature the Poco X5 5G as its first model in the lineup.

Poco X5 5G has appeared on the BIS and FCC certification database websites with model numbers 22101320I and 22101320G, respectively, according to a report by MySmartPrice. The FCC spotting has also seemed to suggest certain specifications of the Poco X5 5G model in terms of software, battery, design, and connectivity. However, the BIS citing has not revealed any specifications of the device model number 33101320I, tipped to be the Indian variant of the Poco X5 5G smartphone.

In terms of software, the Poco X5 5G model may run on MIUI 14, the FCC listing indicated. Meanwhile, the device is hinted to sport a rectangular cutout to house its camera module. The Poco X5 5G model smartphone may support dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity while supporting 6 bands of 5G connectivity in the n5, n7, n38, n41, n77, and n78 bands. Furthermore, the smartphone is hinted to come packed with a 4900mAh battery backup, which could be marketed as a 5000mAh smartphone, according to the report.

Additional rumours around the Poco X5 5G smartphone suggest that the upcoming Poco handset may feature an IPS LCD panel display that could offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone has also been tipped to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.

POCO India’s chief Himanshu Tandon had recently taken to Twitter to squash claims that the upcoming Redmi Note 12 5G will launch in India as a rebranded POCO smartphone while also hinting at the launch of the rumoured Poco X5 5G smartphone in India.

Poco has however not made any official announcements about the Poco X5 5G smartphone as of yet.

Huawei, ZTE May Soon Face US FCC Ban From Approval of New Telecom Equipment

The US Federal Communications Commission is set to ban approvals of new telecommunications equipment from China’s Huawei Technologies and ZTE in the United States on national security grounds, according to a document posted by the agency.

The FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel last week circulated the proposed ban to the other three commissioners for final approval. The companies would not be able to sell new equipment in the United States without equipment authorisations.

In June 2021, the FCC voted to advance the plan to ban approvals for equipment in the US telecommunications networks from Chinese companies deemed national security threats, including Huawei and ZTE.

That came after a March 2021 designation of five Chinese companies on the so-called “covered list” as posing a threat to national security under a 2019 law aimed at protecting the US communications networks: Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Hytera Communications, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Zhejiang Dahua Technology.

The FCC said in June 2021 it was considering banning all equipment authorisations for all companies on the covered list.

This year, the FCC added Russia’s AO Kaspersky Lab, China Telecom (Americas), China Mobile International USA, Pacific Networks and China Unicom (Americas) to the covered list.

Rosenworcel said last year the new measures would “exclude untrustworthy equipment from our communications networks. … We have left open opportunities for (Huawei and other Chinese equipment) use in the United States through our equipment authorisation process. So here we propose to close that door.”

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr said in 2021 the FCC had approved more than 3,000 applications from Huawei since 2018.

The FCC action would prohibit all future authorisations for communications equipment deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to national security.

In 2019, the United States placed Huawei, Hikvision and other firms on its economic blacklist.

Also in 2020, the FCC designated Huawei and ZTE as national security threats to communications networks — a declaration that barred the US companies from tapping an $8.3 billion (nearly Rs. 68,300) government fund to purchase equipment from the companies.

Earlier this year, the Chinese embassy in Washington said the FCC “abused state power and maliciously attacked Chinese telecom operators again without factual basis.”

Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 Gets FCC, EEC Certifications, Launch Imminent: Report

Redmi Note 11 Pro variant could be unveiled soon by the Chinese smartphone company. The Redmi Note 11 lineup, which included the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, debuted in India earlier this year. It appears that the Xiaomi sub-brand will soon launch a refreshed model from this series, believed to be bearing the moniker Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. This handset has been reportedly spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database and has received EEC certifications.

According to a recent report by MySmartPrice, a Redmi smartphone bearing the model number 2209116AG has been spotted on the FCC database. The alleged listing suggests that this handset is named as Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. Furthermore, it mentions that the handset runs on MIUI 13 out-of-the-box, which could be based on Android 12.

In related news, a past XiaomiUI report spotted the Redmi 2209116AG model on the IMEI database. The supposed listing in itself did not reveal any details regarding this handset; however, the report speculates that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 could be a rebadged Redmi Note 10 Pro.

If true, then the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 might boast similar specifications to the handset that arrived in India last year. The Redmi Note 10 Pro was priced at Rs. 15,999 for its base 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model at launch. It sports a 6.67-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1,200 nits of peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC, paired with Adreno 618 GPU. The handset sports a 64-megapixel quad rear camera setup and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

As of now, Redmi has not officially confirmed the existence of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. However, considering that the handset has been popping up on many certification sites, we might get an official announcement soon.

Huawei, ZTE Gear Removal From US Telecom Network Will Need Additional $3 Billion, Says FCC

The US telecoms regulator needs an additional $3 billion (roughly Rs. 25,000) to fund the removal from U.S. networks of equipment made by Chinese telecoms giants Huawei and ZTE, bringing the total cost to $4.9 billion (roughly Rs. 40,000), the agency told Congress on Friday.

“To fund all reasonable and supported cost estimates…, the Reimbursement Program will require $4.98 billion, reflecting a current shortfall of $3.08 billion,” Jessica Rosenworcel, the chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission, said Friday in a letter to Senator Maria Cantwell, who heads the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Since Congress only appropriated $1.9 billion (roughly Rs. 15,000 crore) to fund the removal process, companies would be reimbursed for only about 40 percent of the costs, she added.

In 2019, Congress passed a law tasking the FCC with compelling US telecoms carriers that receive federal subsidies to purge their networks of telecoms equipment that poses a national security risk, with promises of reimbursement.

The FCC designated Huawei and ZTE as threats, compelling US companies to remove their gear or be frozen out of an $8.3 billion (roughly Rs. 66,000 crore) government fund to purchase new equipment. However, to fund the so-called “rip and replace” effort, Congress only appropriated $1.9 billion, raising questions about how effectively the removal program would be implemented.

“Absent an additional appropriation, the Commission will apply the prioritization scheme Congress specified,” Rosenworcel said in the letter, adding that the Commission would begin processing reimbursement claims “as allocations are issued in the coming days.”

Companies are not required to complete the work until after they receive reimbursement.

Poco M4 5G powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC was unveiled in India recently and is expected to be launched in the global markets soon. Apparently, the company is planning to announce two new smartphones with the model numbers 22041216G and 22041216UG, suggests a US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing. However, the model numbers indicate that upcoming Poco smartphones could be rebranded versions of the Redmi Note 11T and the Redmi Note 11T Pro. Both these phones are officially confirmed to launch in China this month.

Two Poco smartphones with model numbers Poco 22041216G and 22041216UG have allegedly appeared on the FCC website. The listing, spotted by MySmartPrice, suggests MIUI 13 on the upcoming devices. They could have an 8GB RAM option and two storage variants with 128GB and 256GB configurations. The listing does not reveal any further details about the specifications of the handsets.

Recently, two Xiaomi smartphones, believed to be Redmi Note 11T and Redmi Note 11T Pro, have appeared on China Compulsory Certification (3C) website with similar model numbers 22041216C and 22041216UC. Based on this, the purported Redmi Note 11T and Redmi Note 11T Pro handsets are speculated to launch in global markets with Poco branding.

The Chinese smartphone company recently confirmed the release of the Redmi Note 11T and Note 11T Pro in its home country via the official Weibo handle. The smartphones are expected to be powered by the MediaTek SoC. The Redmi Note 11T lineup could be priced between CNY 1,599 to CNY 2,500 (roughly Rs. 18,400 to Rs. 29,700). The Redmi Note 11T Pro has been tipped to feature a 144Hz LCD screen.

As per past leaks, Redmi Note 11T will feature a 4,980mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. In contrast, the Redmi Note 11T Pro is said to feature a 4,300mAh battery and offer support for 120W fast charging. Both of the handsets have also been tipped to sport a 6.6-inch display.
