Nick Nolte addresses ‘absurd’ Julia Roberts drama on set

It seems they’ve put the “trouble” behind them.

After nearly three decades, actor Nick Nolte is addressing the alleged behind-the-scenes beef he had with Julia Roberts while filming the ’90s flick “I Love Trouble.”

“It was absurd what we went through,” Nolte, 81, admitted to Insider while promoting his new drama “Rittenhouse Square.”

In a 1993 interview with the New York Times ahead of the release of “I Love Trouble,” Roberts accused Nolte of exhibiting off-putting behavior during production.

“From the moment I met him we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally we get on each other’s nerves,” Roberts said when asked about her co-star’s reputation for behaving crudely on set. While he can be “completely charming and very nice,” she said, “he’s also completely disgusting.”

Actor Nick Nolte is seen filming on set of the movie “Rittenhouse” on October 25, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Just like their rival reporter characters in “I Love Trouble,” it appears that Nolte and Roberts have put aside their differences.

The “Pretty Woman” star added, “He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems [to] go out of his way to repel people. He’s a kick.”

Nolte reportedly responded in an interview with the Los Angeles Times at the time, “It’s not nice to call someone ‘disgusting.’ But she’s not a nice person. Everyone knows that.”

"It was absurd what we went through," Nolte, 81, said describing his feud with Roberts while on the set of "I Love Trouble."

It was a lot of drama for a critically-panned romantic comedy about rival Chicago reporters who join forces to investigate corruption.

It appears Nolte no longer harbors ill will toward his former co-star. When asked if he’d “buried the hatchet,” the Nebraska native said, “No, I haven’t. Though it’s buried.”

He also took part of the blame for the supposed on-set feud. “It was partly my fault and a little bit of hers,” Nolte admitted. “Julia got married at the beginning of that film, and it was one of those things where I just approached it all wrong.”

He was referencing Roberts’ highly-publicized 1993 marriage to Lyle Lovett, which ended in divorce less than two years later.

Julia Roberts arrives at the premiere of Universal Pictures’ “Ticket To Paradise” at Regency Village Theatre on Oct. 17, 2022 in Los Angeles.

The “Runaway Bride” star is married to Danny Moder, a cameraman she met on the set of “The Mexican” in 2000, and with whom she shares three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, who turn 18 this month; and 15-year-old Henry.

Roberts recently claimed her secret to maintaining a successful marriage is copious smooching. “I always say the same thing, and I’m sticking with it,” the Academy Award winner told E! News in October. “It’s making out. Lots of making out.”

Luke Combs tops CMA Awards; Loretta Lynn, Jerry Lee Lewis honored

Luke Combs was crowned entertainer of the year at Wednesday’s Country Music Association Awards, the second year in a row that he’s taken home the night’s top honor.

“I want to thank country music for making my dreams come true,” Combs said, dedicating the award to his wife and newborn child. His win came after a performance-packed three-hour show that honored country icons and new voices.

“Country is sounding more country than it has in a long time tonight,” Combs said. He also won album of the year for “Growin’ Up.”

The show opened with Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire playing tribute to the late country queen Loretta Lynn.

The superstar trio performed a medley of Lynn’s hits including “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter” as images of Lynn were projected behind them and audience members sang along.

Rock pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis, who like Lynn died last month, was honored with a fiery tribute by Elle King and the Black Keys.

Alan Jackson accepted the lifetime achievement award, recounting how a movie about Hank Williams inspired him to move to Nashville when he was flat broke. He teared up during his speech, ending it by telling the audience, “I’m still living that honky tonk dream, y’all.”

Brothers Osborne won vocal duo of the year and Old Dominion won the trophy for vocal group.

Chris Stapleton won male vocalist of the year, his sixth win in the category. Bryan, Combs, Eric Church and Morgan Wallen were also nominated.

“All the guys in this category deserve this award,” Stapleton said.

He dedicated the honor to his 12-year-old daughter, who’s birthday was Wednesday.

Emerging country superstar Lainey Wilson was the leading nominee with six nods, taking home trophies for new artist and female vocalist.

Jordan Davis’ “Buy Dirt” won song of the year. The song featured CMA Awards host Luke Bryan, who Davis called to the stage to hug.

Bryan co-hosted the show at Bridgestone Arena along with NFL great Peyton Manning.

Joining country’s biggest stars for the evening were Katy Perry and actors Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, who are playing Tammy Wynette and George Jones in an upcoming Showtime limited series and presented Combs the night’s top honor.

Perry took the stage and performed “Where We Started” with Thomas Rhett during the show.

How Taylor Swift’s Sagittarius zodiac sign led to pop domination

Unabashed romantics, earnest water signs, folks high on the fumes of heartbreaks and sworn Swifties rejoice, we’re looking at the stars behind the blunt bangs and breakup songs, the birth chart of the Anti-Hero herself, ladies and gentlemen, Taylor mothertruckin’ Swift. Tay Tay if you’re nasty.

On October 21, Swift released her latest album “Midnights.” Described as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” the cover features our girl under the influence of a seriously smoky eye and looking headlong into the abyss of a Zippo lighter, presumably contemplating burning that goddamn red scarf or setting fire to John Mayer’s eyesore Ford GT

Swift made history when it was announced that the entire top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 was stacked with songs from “Midnights.” A feat thus far accomplished by no one else. This utter dominance is staggering though for the fans that love her fiercely and follow her loyally, not at all surprising.

“Midnights” marks the first album of new material from Swift since 2020’s quarantine opus “Folklore” and kid sister “Evermore.” In 2021 she sent hearts a flutter with the lauded tenth anniversary rerelease of “Red” which came complete with a self-directed short film/music video for the song “All To Well,” widely believed to be a quasi autobiographical and acutely painful retelling of her relationship with Jake Gyllenhal. Mine that man and that memory for all it’s worth Tay Tay!

Following the midnight release of “Midnights,” Swift announced a 26 date stadium tour. The 2023 Eras Tour is billed as “a journey through the musical eras of (Swift’s) career (past & present!),” exclamation points hers, not mine.

It’s well established that our girl’s fan base is rabid, quick to spew venom on her detractors and defilers and willing to RESCHEDULE their weddings in order to see her live, because make no mistake my babies, the most important day of your life is not the one in which you commit yourself to another person in mind, body, heart and spirit – neigh – it’s the day T.Swift comes to town.

Sharing the stage and the wealth with Swift will be opening acts Paramore, HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, beabadobee, Girl In Red, MUNA, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

In honor of T. Swift’s absolute ownership of the charts and minds of the nation, we bring you a look at her birth chart. What do the stars say about the artist and the many men that have loved/inspired/emotionally tortured her? Read on, right on, “Red” forever.

Sun in Sagittarius

An optimistic archer, Tay Tay gives the cold shoulder to her haters.
Getty Images

Born unto us on December 13, 1989, Swift’s zodic sun sign is in Sagittarius. Ruled by planet Jupiter, the fun-loving drunk uncle of the zodiac, Sagittatius energy is expensive, optimistic, adventurous and a little guileless. Sagittarians are seekers, always looking for new horizons, higher learning, spiritual transcendence and — in the case of T. Swift — fresh bros.

Sagittarians seduce with their bon vivant approach to life, promising that a relationship with them will be akin to a storied road trip, complete with quirky pit stops, caramel nonfat lattes, a varied soundtrack and a highly enviable vintage car.

Swift’s resilience in the wake of relationship endings is emblematic of her Sagittarius Sun. These folks can’t help but believe that good things are on their way and life is bound to get better. Swift herself acknowledges that arch in the song “Begin Again,” reportedly inspired by her relationship with Conor Kennedy. It is precisely that kind of blithe optimism that keeps her a perennial player in the game of love. Cue Steve Earle’s “Fearless Heart.”

Pack your bags, burn your hesitations — right?

Moon in Cancer

Not so fast. That freewheeling, easy-breezy high-road-taking is a bait-and-switch, folks. Beneath the surface and way back in the shadows lies Swift’s crustacean Cancer Moon. In astrology, the Moon represents our emotional needs and how we go about getting them met; it relates to the kind of nurturing we did or didn’t receive as children. It’s the soft underbelly, marshmallow center, pulpy mess and primal heart of the human condition and in the sign of Cancer, it is at its most acutely sensitive. These people want intense emotional connection and a sworn blood oath that you’ll never leave. So real is this fear of abandonment that those with Moon in Cancer are prone to adapting themselves to match the needs and preferences of their partners.

These people want intense emotional connection and a sworn blood oath that you’ll never leave.

Because the Moon rules Cancer, it is very much at home in this placement. It’s wearing a Snuggie and ready to passively-aggressively manipulate you into staying in for the night for the rest of your life.

No one, and I mean no one capitalizes on the grist mill of the human experience quite like Swift.

At its highest expression, Cancer energy is creative, caretaking and deeply romantic. At their most indulgent, Cancer Moon natives tend toward masochistic nostalgia, endlessly idealizing or overanalyzing past love affairs. Though their relationship lasted just three months and ended over 10 years ago, Taylor apparently is still writing new verses about Jake Gyllenhal. Further evidence of Swift’s pangs for the past can be found in the song “Style,” where she rhapsodizes the aesthetic of her failed relationship with Harry Styles.

Taylor Swift is always looking for new horizons — even with relationships.

The modality of Cancer is to return and return again. Yet Swift has capitalized on this somewhat pained placement by channeling it into music that serves not only as a balm for her, but sonic medicine for the masses. No one, and I mean no one capitalizes on the grist mill of the human experience quite like Swift.

Mars in Scorpio

Mars in Scorpio favors a cut out silhouette and never hesitates to destroy an enemy.
Getty Images

Mars is the planet of war, and within the birthchart it governs our approach to sex, ambition and conflict. Tay Tay’s Mars is in the formidable, “vengeance as an art form” sign of Scorpio

Mars in Scorpio views people as either enemies or allies, with exes falling firmly in the latter category. These natives take nothing lightly and put a lot of effort into ensuring others feel the weight of the pain they have been made to suffer. Beyond revenge, Scorpio energy seeks transformation, often spurred by trauma and/or loss. The alternative totem for the sign of Scorpio is the phoenix, and no one lives to light it up, watch it burn, write it down and turn pain to profit like our girl.

Beyond revenge, Scorpio energy seeks transformation, often spurred by trauma and/or loss.

Taylor has a long and illustrious history of transmuting the raw material of her relationships into song. She called out John Mayer by name and a list of personal failings in her 2010 song “Dear John.” Further in keeping with her Scorpionic tendencies, Swift plays the long game. Her fervent fan base is still trolling that dude a decade later, greeting his entry to TikTok with slings and arrows

Perhaps the worst punishment in the playbook of Mars in Scorpio is erasure. Fittingly, Swift has a stable of exes including Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris and Eddie Redmayne who have been weighed, measured and found unworthy of immortality through music. Ouch, bro.

Planetary cluster in Capricorn, daddy energy rises and reigns

The unofficial mantra of a Capricorn stellium is success at all costs.
Getty Images for MTV/Paramount G

Swift has a stellium of planets in the hard knocks, tough love sign of Capricorn with her Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune all in sea goat territory. Capricorn is a sign concerned with building and securing a legacy that will outlast them. We see this energy expressed in Swift who is nothing if not on her damn grind. Caps are big into ROI and our girl is not going to suffer for free, quite the opposite, she turns the pain of lived experience into lucrative melody, singing her fine self all the way to the proverbial bank and an ever impressive real estate portfolio.

Caps are big into ROI and our girl is not going to suffer for free.

Those with serious Capricorn placements tend to age in reverse, their early years see them growing up too fast, taking on adult responsibilities before they are emotionally equipped to do so. If that sounds like it sucks, it does. The upswing of this is that if they can manage to survive adolescence and early adulthood, they earn their happy childhood in the later part of their life, it ain’t easy but it sure is sweet. We see this timeline inversion in Swift who was bullied as a teen and lived through a healthy roster of douche lord dudes and frenemy feuds before hitting her stride in the last few years.

Stars align

Joe Alwyn is a Pisces angel with a down to earth, ride or die Taurus moon.
WP Pix / SplashNews.com

In Swift’s latest, closely guarded relationship with actor, collaborator and sweet Pisces baby angel Joe Alwyn, it seems she has met a man whose hunger for depth, search for song and commitment to companionship match her own. Blonde on blonde, baby.

Whether they are made to last or built to break, we wait with high hopes, red lips and eager ears.

Fortunate forecast

Dressed for battle and poised for greatness, the best is yet to come for Swift and her army of admirers.

A look at Swift’s transits reveals why she is experiencing one of the most fruitful and fortifying periods of her life. As my colleague and fellow star reader Kyle Thomas notes, “benevolent Jupiter dances into her solar sector of true love, creativity, and fertility from May 10, 2022 to October 28, 2022. It will return once again on December 20, 2022 to remain until May 16, 2023.” Jupiter is coming correct with the glad tidings, creative energy and lasting love and will continue to pour itself freely and favorably into Tay Tays proverbial cup as she takes the stage for her world tour. Cheers to you, Swift, may all your heartbreaks be in the rearview and may your best days await you.

Biden taps celeb candidates to avoid GOP midterm rout on ‘SNL’

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” lampooned Democratic unease about the midterm elections, with James Austin Johnson’s President Biden introducing a new roster of celebrity candidates in the show’s cold open.

“My fellow Americans, this Tuesday our midterm elections will determine the fate of our Democracy, and let’s just say, big yikes. What’s going on? I guess the Democrats’ message just ain’t getting through,” the fake president said.

“We don’t have any starts anymore. Too many Raphael Warnocks and not enough Herschel Walkers, which is why we’re going to make some last minute changes before Tuesday with the Democrats who are exciting.”

Biden then went on to introduce Chloe Fineman as author Marianne Williamson, who said she had caught the “American dream” in her “Tibetan singing bowl.”

Molly Kearney’s Guy Fieri already had extensive political experience as “the mayor of flavor town,” Biden quipped.

“America’s hungry for change. What, do y’all want Dr. Oz’s crudité or a full plate of paid family leave dripping in donkey sauce?,” the candidate asked.

Rapper 6ix9ine, played by Marcello Hernández, was described as Johnson’s Biden as a “terrifying young man.”

“I want no cap on social security, no cap. Democrats, baby, treyway,” he shouted.

Former Donald Trump paramour Stormy Daniels said she was “willing to debase herself” by trading porn for politics, and rapper Azealia Banks (Ego Nwodim) and former SNL funnyman Tracy Morgan (Kenan Thompson) rounded out the Democratic hopefuls.

Comic Amy Schumer hosted the show, and R&B singer Steve Lacy performed his songs “Bad Habit” and Helmet.”

Emmy winning guest host Dave Chappelle was set to return to the show next week with reunited Brooklyn rap supergroup Black Star.

Mariah Carey declares Halloween is officially over as she gets into Christmas spirit: ‘It’s time’

Mariah Carey has officially defrosted.

The so-called “Queen of Christmas” rushed to social media the minute Halloween was over as she welcomed Nov. 1 with a fun seasonal post.

The 5-time Grammy winner, 52, shared a 30-second clip on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, in which she’s seen riding a Peloton bike while decked out in Halloween gear.

As the calendar flips to Nov. 1, Carey is instantly seen dressed in a festive outfit as the opening of her iconic Yuletide track “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays in the background.

“It’s time,” she teases in the clip, officially marking the end of the spooky season and the unofficial start of the festive one.

The hit song has already found its way back into the US iTunes Top 100 charts just hours after midnight.

The singer is set to kickstart her festive “Merry Christmas to All” mini-tour next month, which consists of four shows in total taking place in New York and Toronto.

The extravaganza was initially planned to take place for two dates, however, the singer added a couple of more performances starting Dec. 9 in Toronto, where she will also perform on Dec. 11.

Carey and Christmas have become synonymous over the past 28 years.
WireImage

She’ll then make her way to NYC for two performances at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16.

Carey and Christmas have become synonymous over the past 28 years, thanks to the release of her 1994 album “Merry Christmas,” which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.

The album features “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — perhaps the most famous holiday hit in modern history. The festive anthem hit the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 in both 2019 and 2020. In 2020, the song also broke Spotify’s record for most single day-plays, with the track streaming a staggering 17.223 million times in 24 hours.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” has reportedly earned Carey more than $2 million in royalties on Spotify alone, according to a 2019 CNN report.

‘Narnia’ star Georgie Henley had a rare flesh-eating disease

Georgie Henley is demonstrating the same heroism as her “Narnia” character.

The 27-year-old actress revealed on Instagram Tuesday that when she was in college, she nearly died due to a rare bacterial infection.

“When I was eighteen years old and in my sixth week of university, I contracted necrotising fasciitis, a rare and punishing infection that nearly claimed my life and wrought havoc throughout my body,” Henley wrote in an Instagram post.

Henley said she almost lost an arm from the condition, which has left numerous scars all over her arm.

“In order to prevent the amputation of my left hand and arm I received grueling invasive surgery, and later extensive reconstructive surgery which resulted in a series of skin grafts and scars,” she continued.

According to the CDC, necrotizing fasciitis is a flesh-eating disease that occurs when a wound gets infected and “even with treatment, up to 1 in 5 people with necrotizing fasciitis died from the infection in the most recent five years.”

Henley — who recently starred in “The Spanish Princess” as Margaret Tudor — said that it took her several years to recover.

“It has taken me a long time to heal both physically and mentally but I hoped that one day there would be the right time to talk about what happened. Today is a start,” the actress said.

Henley said that much of her mental stress came from the fact that she worked in an industry that demanded “perfection” and it terrified her that she may never work again.
Pierre Vinet

“For the last nine years I have been open about my scars in my personal life, but have hidden them entirely in any professional context: wearing bandages or coverings, makeup on set and stage, long sleeves whenever I might be photographed, trousers so I could put my hand in a pocket,” she added.

The Post reached out to Henley for comment.

Henley said that much of her mental stress came from the fact that she worked in an industry that demanded “perfection” and it terrified her that she may never work again.

Henley posted screenshots of the instagram post on her Twitter saying that she was “finally free.”
Twitter/Georgie Henley

“The industry I am part of often focuses on a very narrow idea of what is deemed aesthetic ‘perfection,’ and I worried that my scars would prevent me from getting work,” wrote Henley.

“The truth is there is no such thing as ‘perfection,’ but I have still lived with the shame of feeling different, exacerbated by the expectations that came with beginning my career at a young age.”

Henley says that she’s proud to show off her scars as they are a reminder of her survival.

“But my scars are not something to be ashamed of. They are a map of the pain my body has endured, and most importantly a reminder of my survival,” she said. “They do not affect my capacity as an actor, and I’m proud to be a person who has visible scars in this industry.”

Twitter rips John Mayer over new Taylor Swift song

Dear John, Taylor is still angry with you.

Thirteen years after Taylor Swift’s “Dear John” famously bashed John Mayer after their breakup, the pop superstar appears to be at it again on “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” — one of seven more tunes on a surprise “3 a.m. Edition” of her new “Midnights” album that dropped at 3 a.m., of course, on Friday morning.

“Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first/And I damn sure never would’ve never danced with the devil,” sings Swift, who was just 19 when she was dating Mayer, 13 years her senior.

And she makes it pretty obvious that the slightly spooky song is about Mayer when she drops a big clue about her age: “At 19, and the God’s honest truth is that the pain was heaven/And now that I’m grown, I’m scared of ghosts.”

In 2009, John Mayer and Taylor Swift were making beautiful music together at the Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden.
WireImage

Swift is clearly not in a forgiving mood about how Mayer “tried to erase” their romance.

“I regret you all the time/I can’t let this go/I fight with you in my sleep/The wound won’t close,” she sings.

The army of Swifties — as the singer’s legions of fans are known — were all for this latest round of Mayer bashing on Twitter.

“john mayer was sleeping peacefully but was awoken at 3am with a chill down his spine,” tweeted one Swiftie.

Taylor Swift released seven more songs on a surprise “3 a.m. Edition” of her new album “Midnights.”

Another fan posted a pic of a man sleeping peacefully on clouds accompanied by the tweet: “how I sleep knowing John Mayer is about to pay for his crimes yet again.”

Yet another tweet put it bluntly: “She ended John Mayer.”

But “Midnights” also finds Swift reflecting on her current romance with actor Joe Alwyn, her beau of six years.

On the electro-infused opener “Lavender Haze,” she addresses rumors of their engagement: “All they keep asking me/Is if I’m gonna be your bride/The only kinda girl they see/Is a one night or a wife.”

Taylor Swift’s new song “Sweet Nothing” seems to be about her longtime romance with actor Joe Alwyn.
TheImageDirect.com

Elsewhere, the gentle, graceful “Sweet Nothing” — which was co-written by Alwyn under his pseudonym William Bowery — appears to give an intimate peek into a relationship that provides sweet solace from the fame grind for Swift: “I find myself running home to your sweet nothings/Outside, they’re push and shoving/You’re in the kitchen humming/All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing.”

But Swift has revenge on her mind on “Karma,” which seems to be another dig at Scooter Braun, with whom the singer battled over her masters before beginning to re-record her albums: “My pennies made your crown/Trick me once/Trick me twice/Don’t you know that cash ain’t the only price?/It’s coming back around.”

Taylor Swift ‘Midnights’ album release causes Spotify outage

It wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift album release without a grand entrance.

The 11-time Grammy winner’s hotly-anticipated tenth studio album, “Midnights,” dropped Thursday night, but it wasn’t without its fair share of chaos.

Millions of so-called “Swifties” stayed up until midnight to hear the record, but fans were left scrambling after streaming giant Spotify crashed just as the album was released as users reported internet outage despite there being internet available.

According to Downdetector.com, Spotify saw a massive outage across the world at midnight ET — the exact time Swift’s album was released.

Fans expressed their frustration at the glitch, with many being left disappointed they weren’t able to immediately hear the singer’s 13 new tracks.

“Midnights” has 13 new songs from the singer, including one that features Lana Del Rey.
AP

“Spotify crashed following the release of Taylor Swift’s new album #TSmidnighTS,” wrote one account alongside a screenshot of the app saying “something went wrong.”

“YALL DONE BROKE SPOTIFY. #MidnightsTaylorSwift,” another tweeted.

A third wrote, “Spotify literally broke for like a minute!!! I was in panic mode,” before a fourth posted the app’s error message, tweeting, “Really @Spotify? On a night like this? I am fuming #TSmidnightTS.”

Spotify users reported outages on social media.

Luckily, the connectivity issues were short-lived.

“Can I ask you a Question…? @taylorswift13 @taylornation13 how does it feel knowing you crashed spotify?? (Midnights is a superior album already),” another Swiftie added.

The apparent outage appeared to last only a short moment, much to the delight of die-hard Swift fans.
