Whether Halloween is your favorite holiday or you simply participate when you’re feeling inspired, we can all agree that it’s best to work with what you’ve already got. That’s why, this year, we suggest ditching the wigs and letting your own hair shine. Whether short, long, curly, or straight, if you have dark hair, there are plenty of costumes that don’t require any crazy wigs. Not only are you saving some extra cash, but you’re also guaranteed to have a better night since you won’t spend every 15 minutes making sure your wig is still in place.
If that sounds appealing, the Halloween costumes for dark-haired girls ahead will have you planning the rest of your costume in no time. Keep scrolling for the inspiration to play up one of your best assets.
The so-called “Queen of Christmas” rushed to social media the minute Halloween was over as she welcomed Nov. 1 with a fun seasonal post.
The 5-time Grammy winner, 52, shared a 30-second clip on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, in which she’s seen riding a Peloton bike while decked out in Halloween gear.
As the calendar flips to Nov. 1, Carey is instantly seen dressed in a festive outfit as the opening of her iconic Yuletide track “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays in the background.
“It’s time,” she teases in the clip, officially marking the end of the spooky season and the unofficial start of the festive one.
The hit song has already found its way back into the US iTunes Top 100 charts just hours after midnight.
The singer is set to kickstart her festive “Merry Christmas to All” mini-tour next month, which consists of four shows in total taking place in New York and Toronto.
The extravaganza was initially planned to take place for two dates, however, the singer added a couple of more performances starting Dec. 9 in Toronto, where she will also perform on Dec. 11.
She’ll then make her way to NYC for two performances at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16.
Carey and Christmas have become synonymous over the past 28 years, thanks to the release of her 1994 album “Merry Christmas,” which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
The proud — and very shocked dad — took to Instagram on Monday to show their very spot-on costumes.
Wilder sported a black and white plaid skirt set, a red shirt, over-the-knee black socks and giant hat with a rose on it. She completed the look with red lipstick, a matching purse and a flip phone to channel her inner Dionne — who was played by Stacey Dash.
The father of six, 48, also joined in on the fun by wearing a hoodie, a backward Kangol hat and his character’s signature necklace.
In the snap, Faison sat behind his daughter on a staircase with a shocked look on his face while his youngest struck a sassy pose.
Fans of the hit highs cool comedy were quick to show the two love in the comment section.
“The way she poppin that hip tho 🫣😂😂😂😂😂😂 #girldadtears 😭,” “Family Matters” star Jaleel White commented.
Faison played Murray and Dash played Deonne in the romcom.
The actress and supermodel told Halsey that “eating good” and…
“Great Dionne costume! 👏But your Murray needs a little work 🥴#CauseImKeepinItReal!,” Justin Long joked.
“Halloween has been won. Everyone else can go home,” another fan chimed in, while others described the costumes as “legendary” and “epic.”
The “Scrubs” actor — and wife CaCee Cobb — also shared a snap of their 9-year-old son’s Allen Iverson costume, which was just as impressive as his sister’s.
Rocco wore a full Philadelphia 76er’s uniform, blue sweatband, and cross-chain while holding onto a basketball.
He took his Halloween costume a little too seriously.
A California man who dressed up as a Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey bottle was arrested early Sunday for his drunken conduct, a report said.
Dominic Salazar, 31, was booked the day before Halloween while still in his costume for disorderly conduct domestic battery among other charges, according to California jail records reviewed by the Smoking Gun.
Salazar is currently in Madera County lockup after failing to make his $55,000 bail, the site said. He is facing both felony and misdemeanor charges.
The whisky enthusiast smiled in his mugshot, wearing his costume, which retails for around $45.
The outfit can be bought directly from the Whiskey manufacturer, which said online that “Halloween is all about letting your wildest dreams come true, so this year, become a human-sized bottle of Fireball. You’re welcome. One size fits most, 100% polyester.”
The Madera County Sheriff did not immediately return the Post’s request for comment.
Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson’s second child together, a baby boy, made his Instagram debut on Sunday.
“Owlette and Tigger aka True and Baby Brother,” the reality star captioned sweet Halloween snaps of her daughter, 4, holding the 3-month-old.
“Shhhhh,” Kardashian went on to write. “But I can’t wait for Halloween to be over.”
Her and Thompson’s little one arrived via surrogate in July, and the on-again, off-again couple have yet to reveal his name.
When “The Kardashians” premiered two months later, fans got a first look at the infant as his birth was documented.
News broke over the summer that the 38-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum and the athlete, 31, conceived baby No. 2 in November 2021.
Notably, the NBA player’s cheating scandal with Maralee Nichols — which resulted in son Theo’s birth — made headlines in December 2021.
“Khloé and Tristan already had the baby in the works when the scandal hit. By then, Khloé was just like, ‘I’m going to be doing it by myself,’” a source told us in July, noting that the duo did not speak outside of co-parenting issues.
The Chicago Bulls player previously admitted to being unfaithful to the Good American co-creator two times, most recently in February 2019 with Kylie Jenner’s then-friend Jordyn Woods.
When she found out about the power forward’s latest scandal last year, she called his actions “despicable” on her family’s new Hulu show.
“Was Tristan going to tell me if there wasn’t a baby involved? Absolutely not, and that shows a lot about his character,” Kardashian said in a June episode.
While Page Six confirmed that same month that the “Khloé & Lamar” alum had moved on with a private equity investor, the duo have since called it quits.
“They split a few weeks ago,” a source explained to Us Weekly after Kardashian’s son arrived. “Things just fizzled out between them.”
Thompson, who is also the father of son Prince, 5, with ex Jordan Craig, was spotted with a mystery woman in Greece ahead of his son’s birth.
Kardashian appeared to approve of the romance, “liking” a photo of the pair holding hands.
Maren Morris threw shade at Brittany Aldean again by sharing a viral Spirit Halloween meme with a costume inspired by their beef.
The Photoshopped packaging dubbed the costume a “Lunatic Country Music Person” alongside a photo of Morris in a callback to Fox News host Tucker Carlson labeling the singer a “lunatic country music person” while reporting on her feud with Aldean last month.
The fake costume also included a tambourine, “inclusive fans,” a pickleball paddle, a wig and “beef with transphobes.” The list also clarified that a “tall guy [was] not included,” referencing Morris’ 6-foot-3 husband, Ryan Hurd.
“S P O O K Y 🕷 S Z N,” the “Middle” singer captioned the Instagram post Thursday.
Aldean, 34, seemed to respond with a cryptic post on her Instagram Story that read, “I don’t think you truly understand how ugly the world is until you’re trying to protect your child from it.”
She and her husband, country singer Jason Aldean, share two kids together: Memphis, 4, and Navy, 3. (Jason, 45, also has two children with his ex-wife, Jessica Aldean, on whom he infamously cheated with Brittany.)
“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life,” Brittany wrote in an Instagram post at the time alongside a makeup tutorial video.
Jason commented on the post, “Lmao!! I’m glad they didn’t too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out.”
“It’s not like we’re talking about what your favorite color is. We’re talking about people’s lives. … It’s really sensitive,” she said while reflecting on the feud.
The “If I Didn’t Love You” crooner has not publicly addressed the situation further. However, he seemingly threw shade at Morris when he mentioned her name during a performance this month, prompting audience members to erupt into boos.
It’s unclear whether Morris will actually dress as a “Lunatic Country Music Person” next Monday, but we’d bet Brittany will rock an “Insurrection Barbie” ‘fit.
Why do Scream Queens get all the credit? We have Jamie Lee Curtis taking the title with her heavy-duty work in the Halloween franchise, Neve Campbell from Scream, Ali Larter from Final Destination, Jenny Ortega from a variety of horror comedy and slasher flicks, and so on. But who are their male counterparts, aka the Scream Kings?
Sure, Evan Peters has been Ryan Murphy’s saving grace for over a decade and Daniel Kaluuya has partnered with Jordan Peele for the smash hit horror movies Get Out and Nope. But hear me out: Patrick Wilson supersedes them all. He can dance, he can sing, and he can fight blood-thirsty demons. What can’t he do?
Notably, Wilson made a name for himself within the horror genre with his appearances in the Insidious and The Conjuring films. And, in both acclaimed supernatural series, the actor doesn’t just fight evil spirits and save the day, but he proves himself to be the dreamy daddy that everybody wants as their protector. Simply put, why else would you watch a horror film – if not to be constantly reassured that upon any ghostly attack, you can just wait patiently for Wilson to rescue you? Wilson is basically the Prince Charming of horror movies, but without the sexist attitudes and archetypes.
Wilson plays characters who know their way around the paranormal lore, stepping into the roles of the real-life famed demonologist Ed Warren in The Conjuring films and long-haunted Josh Lambert in the Insidious series. The characters are knowledgeable; but not know-it-alls. And they’re supportive dad figures who know how to lighten the mood – I will never forget his guitar-strumming scene in The Conjuring 2. Not only that, they are unwavering the face of fear, even when it gets really personal (as house haunters are known to do).
Insidious and The Conjuring aren’t the first times Wilson tapped into the paranormal, as after his breakthrough on the Broadway stage and then earning Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominations in the television adaptation of the play Angels in America, he showed off his musical talents on screen as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera. The 2004 musical adaptation, which follows a phantom who haunts a 19th century Paris opera house and has his sights set on vocalist Christine Daae, showcases Wilson’s characters as a man willing to fight against a paranormal spirit to save his true love (*swoons*), and much like in the aforementioned universes, he ends up as the last man standing (and gets the girl).
His reputation continued with the Netflix adaptation of Stephen King and Joe Hill’s In the Tall Grass in 2019, which received mixed critical reception, but saw Wilson occupying the role of the possessed villain on a murder spree. And while he didn’t come out a winner, he did give his victims a proper scare.
Now, I’m not saying I invented the idea of Wilson being a Scream King (as it is properly listed on his Wikipedia page). But I would argue that he’s not the first that comes to mind when most think of horror legends. What Wilson brings to the table, though, is his dreamy looks, his sensitive and empathetic nature, and his unfaltering drive to be a protector, even against the scariest creatures – which are all qualities that keep the best spooks grounded. All hail the Scream King of Halloween, Patrick Wilson!
This bodega cat had a real identity crisis in the East Village Saturday.
Mimi, a white Bichon, arrived at the 32nd annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade as a “bodega cat,” part of an elaborate costume that featured the cute pup dressed as a feline perched on a store shelf full of potato chips next to an ATM.
Owners Kat Liu and Kevin Condardo completed Mimi’s look with the most stylish accessory in town: a stack of copies of The Post.
Boston terrier JoJo reigned pup-reme, dressed as the King of England.
“I don’t really agree with the new king of the UK, so I thought I’d just go ahead and name my own king of the UK so there he is,” his owner Pooja Sunder, 32, said laughing.
Fourteen-year-old ZZ, a Maltipoo, was dressed to the hilt as reality star Kim Kardashian.
The pup was “channeling Kim Kardashian wearing Balenciaga in the tape dress at Paris Fashion Week 2022,” said her owner, Ilene Zeins.
The Lays chip bag which she attached a handle to “was inspired by the pocketbook that Balenciaga just came out with,” the 60-year-old explained.
Prizes were given out in categories such as “Best NYC Costume, “Best Costume on Wheels” and “Best Celebrity Themed Costume.”
Former NFL referee Dan Schachner, who referees the Puppy Bowl, hosted the festivities.
Erica Sinclair has long been the secret MVP of Hawkins, so Stranger Things fans should be happy to learn that Priah Ferguson—aka Erica from Stranger Things—finally gets to take the lead in Netflix’s new movie, The Curse of Bridge Hollow, which began streaming on Friday. And while it’s hardly an Oscar-winning screenplay, it’s proof that Ferguson is, in fact, leading lady material. Let Erica fight a Demogorgon in Stranger Things Season 5 challenge!
Starring comedian Marlon Wayans, who also produced the film, The Curse of Bridge Hollow tells the story of a 14-year-old girl named Sydney (Ferguson), whose life is upended when her father (Wayans) moves the family from Brooklyn to the small town of Bridge Hollow. At least Sydney’s new town is really into her favorite holiday— Halloween—but this provides little comfort when her dad, a science teacher, dismisses the spooky decorations in town as childish.
Sydney decides to defy her dad’s wishes and celebrate Halloween anyhow. She buys a costume and a toy bat, and she lights a spooky Jack-o-lantern that she found in their new home’s attic. Unfortunately, it turns out that spooky Jack-o-lantern was actually a cursed turnip that, when lit, unleashes powerful dark magic. And you know what that means—all the Halloween decorations in Bridge Hollow are magically brought to life and start terrorizing the town.
It’s an appropriately silly concept for a very silly movie. Don’t look too closely at the script, or you’ll find yourself wondering why Sydney’s mom (played by Kelly Rowland) responds to her daughter’s freak-out about anthropomorphic Halloween decorations by giving her permission to go to a Halloween party. (Truly, what?) But the fun part is watching Ferguson shine. Much like Ferguson’s Stranger Things character, Sydney is spirited and independent. When her dad asks if she bought Halloween decorations specifically to annoy him, she replies, “No, I’m trying to have fun. Annoying you is just a bonus.” It’s all too easy to picture Erica saying those exact words to her brother Lucas.
But unlike Erica, who hasn’t yet had a big battle scene in Stranger Things, Sydney gets a chance to grapple with some monsters head-on. In one memorable scene, she calls out, “Hey, itsy-bitsy!” before absolutely annihilating a giant, hairy spider with a freakin’ flamethrower. Yes, girl! Somewhere in the Forbidden Forest, Aragog is shaking.
Plus, Ferguson is the one to deliver the rousing motivational speech that keeps the gang going. When an army of animated skeletons descends, Sydney hypes up her father, who earlier confessed his fear of the inexplicable. “So it’s unexplainable,” she tells her dad. “So what? They’re real. You know what you can do to something that’s real? You can kick its ass!” Moved by his on-screen daughter’s words, Marlon Wayans proceeds to destroy those skeletons to AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” It’s a beautiful moment.
If The Curse of Bridge Hollow proves anything, it’s that Erica needs to get a promotion in Stranger Things Season 5. This girl is clearly ready to kick Vecna’s butt.
There’s no denying candy is a central part of Halloween.
But some candy brands are more liked than others. Instacart – a digital grocery delivery and pick-up service – says it has determined which candies are most loved by Americans, based on sale data from October 2021.
The e-commerce retail network, which is partnered with supermarkets, department stores and wholesale clubs throughout the country, reports that 658 tons of candy were sold last October, according to internal calculations.
Americans reportedly bought 116 tons of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and it’s the only brand to pass the 100-ton mark, Instacart found.
M&M’s were the next top-purchased brand with 94 tons of milk chocolate M&M’s sold and 92 tons of Peanut M&M’s sold.
Snickers and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate were tied with 65 tons followed by Twizzlers with 56 tons, Kit Kat with 49 tons, Twix with 48 tons, Starburst with 37 tons and Milky Way with 36 tons.
Three out of the 10 “top candies” Instacart sold in October 2021 stood out in the U.S. and each one is made with chocolate.
Two states favored milk chocolate M&M’s, 15 states favored Peanut M&M’s and 33 states favored Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
M&M’s: Hawaii and New Hampshire
Peanut M&M’S: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming
Americans also have differing preferences on red licorice, lollipops, sweet disk candies, gummy candies and malted milk balls, and they’re generally divided between Red Vines and Twizzlers, Dum Dums and Charms Blow-Pops, Smarties and SweetTarts, Haribo and Trolli Gummies, and Whoppers and Milk Duds.
Instacart’s Halloween candy report identified five “sweet-toothed” states as having the “highest share of candy purchases,” which included Utah, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and Washington.
The five states that have the lowest share of candy purchases were Florida, Delaware, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina.
