Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Goes Live Ahead of Scheduled Launch; Day Zero Event Details Out

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was not scheduled to go live for a couple more hours at the time of writing this. However, many users reported that the battle royale game was available to download almost 12 hours ahead of its schedule. The information was also officially confirmed by the developers. As the game is now available, users can play regular battle royale matches. However, they will still have to wait till March 22 for the first campaign of the game called Operation Day Zero.

After several users posted about the game being available in the early hours of March 21, the official account of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirming that the game was made available ahead of its scheduled launch time. Notably, the game was slated to be available at 9:00am PT (9:30pm IST). However, due to a heavy inflow of players joining, the game servers went down temporarily. A separate post addressed the issue and said, “For players where Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is already available, you may experience some delays with matchmaking and connectivity as our servers come online.”

The servers went online after a few hours and the game is now working normally. Players can enjoy the different maps and game modes, as well as participate in the battle royale featuring 120 people. However, there are no campaigns live at the moment. The game will introduce its first event called Operation Day Zero on March 22, which will allow users to win rewards by completing challenges.

Operation Day Zero requires players to play in different maps and complete in-game challenges across six zones to earn individual as well as community rewards. The Verdask and Rebirth Island maps will have these zones where players will have to enter and complete Event Action to accrue Event Points (EP). A zone will be considered cleared once players have cumulatively collected the required EP displayed in-game. The EP collected by a player will go towards both the individual reward as well as community reward.

A large number of rewards can be won by clearing these zones. Some of the individual rewards include the Crimson Blaze emblem, the Nightmare Rift calling card, the Demon’s Claw combat knife weapon blueprint, the Nightmare Inferno large decal, and the Bloody Reaper Ghost Operator. Some of the community rewards include the Gilded Devil King large decal, the Heavy Thunder M4 weapon blueprint, and the Golden Phantom Ghost Operator Skin.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Trailer Released Ahead of Global Launch on March 21: All You Need to Know

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will be launched globally next week. Ahead of the launch, Activision has shared a new trailer of the game that shows off the gameplay, visuals, and some of the locations in the game. After spending months in limited release, Activision will finally make the game available on March 21. The game is touted to bring enhanced graphics and a similar gameplay as its PC and console counterparts. Further, it will become the first Call of Duty game to support cross-progression across all platforms.

The launch trailer was posted on YouTube on Thursday. The video teases the Verdansk and Rebirth maps, weapons, missile system, vehicles, as well the drop mechanism. While the majority of the trailer was filled with cinematic shots, it also mentioned the much-talked-about cross-progression system that will allow players to level up themselves, their weapons, carry-over battle pass progression and in-game purchases across PC, console, and mobile on Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Warzone. The game will be released on both Android and iOS.

Activision’s upcoming battle royale mobile game will deploy 120 players on a single map in a last-man-standing match-up. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will introduce two large-scale maps — Verdansk and Rebirth Island, which should be familiar to CoD enthusiasts.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will also offer other multiplayer modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed (on the Scrapyard map), El Asilo, Hotel, Shipment, and Shoot House. The Rebirth Island map also brings a Resurgence mode that will allow players to redeploy eliminated teammates.

A season-wise Battle Pass will also be included in the game on day one, according to Activision. It will have a free tier and a premium tier, similar to Call Of Duty: Mobile. The paid tier can be purchased using COD Points (CP) in the game, which will offer better rewards than the free tier. The Battle Pass will offer more than 100 unlockable rewards, the game’s original bonus rewards, as well as a chance to earn up to 1,400 CP by completing daily and weekly challenges. The Battle Pass is priced at 1,100 CP.

To pre-register for the game, users can go to the App Store on iOS and Play Store on Android, search for the game and click on the Install icon. The publisher is offering rewards for pre-registering as well. One can get Foes Flame vinyl, Dark Familiar emblem, M4 Archfiend weapon Blueprint, X12 Prince of Hell weapon Blueprint, Ghost Condemned operator skin, and more. Activision says that more than 50 million people have pre-registered for the game, ahead of its release next week.

Call of Duty 2024 Is Reportedly a Black Ops Entry, Set During the Gulf War

Call of Duty release in 2024 is reportedly a new entry in the Black Ops series, set around the 1990s Gulf War. As per Windows Central, the title will feature a ‘nuanced’ narrative that jumps between different factions within the conflict, connecting to the Cold War. Keeping with the time period, weaponry and gadgets will bear a traditional look and feel, unlike the futuristic holographic-sited guns we’ve seen in recent Call of Duty games. Hopefully, Activision takes some lessons from the poorly-received Modern Warfare 3 and doubles down on the campaign aspects — otherwise, building the overarching lore seems futile, as players would simply begin skipping it for multiplayer.

As previously reported, Treyarch is leading development on Call of Duty 2024, having shifted its launch cycle by a year. For the uninitiated, Activision rotates between its three main developers for its annual Call of Duty games — Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games — but broke the pattern last year by moving Treyarch’s Call of Duty from 2023 to 2024, leading to the short Modern Warfare 3 getting released early. The untitled Black Ops game is said to feature a two-year life cycle, with the promise of a lengthier early access period as a pre-order bonus. As per Windows Central, keen players will be able to experience the base game ‘several days’ before release, and weeks for multiplayer and Zombies modes. The title has been codenamed ‘Cerberus’ and marks a return of the round-based Zombies mode — a detour from the newly-launched MW3, which turned it into an open-world affair.

In July, actor Luke Charles Stafford (Secret Society of Lies) inadvertently leaked on Facebook that he was serving as the model for Call of Duty 2024’s lead role, which at the time was named Ratcliffe — which according to InsiderGaming, could very well be based on the British soldier Peter Ratcliffe, who was instrumental during the aforementioned Gulf War. Circling back to multiplayer, leaked images from earlier this year suggest that classic maps from the Black Ops series will return, though some of them could always be post-launch DLC. The game also has the added responsibility of winning back its core fanbase since fumbling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which currently holds a 56 rating on Metacritic. Activision has also held back on divulging sale numbers or flaunting its player base unlike last year’s Modern Warfare 2, which made $800 million (about Rs. 6,668 crore) in its first three days. The publisher put out a thank you note claiming that players have spent more time in MW3 than the remaining reboot trilogy, with no figures to back it up.

Last month, Microsoft finally completed its long-gestating acquisition of Activision Blizzard, with CEO Phil Spencer claiming that the Call of Duty franchise will maintain ‘100 percent parity‘ across all platforms, ensuring that PlayStation players don’t miss out on any exclusive content or limited-time early access or platform-exclusive beta weekends. The company also plans to bring the older COD catalogue to Xbox Game Pass by next year.

The new Call of Duty Black Ops game is expected to launch in late 2024, presumably across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Unveils New Warzone Map, Zombies Mode, More

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is dropping in November and before that, Activision has unveiled a brand-new map coming to its battle-royale counterpart. Dubbed ‘Urzikstan,’ the large-scale metropolis will be available in Warzone 2.0, sometime in December, as part of season 1 content. The region was first featured in the reimagined 2019 MW game and is playable on the endless respawn-enabled Plunder mode, as well. Set on the eastern border of the Black Sea, this map comes with 11 unique points of interest, peppered with horizontal ziplines and drivable trains for better traversal.

Activision describes Urzikstan as the point where the Middle East meets Europe, with locations namely the Levin Resort, Popov Power, Orlov Military Base, Seaport District, Urzikstan Cargo, Olf Town, Low Town, Hadiqa Farms, Zaravan City, Zaravan Suburbs, and the Shahin Manor. The last of them is located away far from the vacant cities, with marble-tiled floors and a double staircase in the lobby, making for an impressive close-quarters combat zone. The outside, however, is dense with high-rise buildings and industrial areas, with tiny windows, through which enemies might try to peek and catch you by surprise. Players have a better chance of avoiding that by looking for horizontal ziplines, which as the name suggests, slide you across the map at high speeds. Some of these are connected to floating drones, essentially leading nowhere, but they can be used to dive down once again and scope out areas from above.

Another new addition to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is drivable trains, which operators can land onto and control. The driver’s seat presents levers to control the speed and direction of it, but an enemy team can easily climb onto the rear end and flip the handbrake to stop it in its tracks. Now, the two teams are at odds, as the driver is now forced to rush all the way back to release it, and in the process, probably get annihilated. Then there’s the new Gulag, presenting three lanes for combat, with a very small chance that you’ll be sent into one that’s set in the dark. Of course, you’ll be equipped with a pair of night vision goggles and the firearms themselves will project a laser, which can be seen by others.

Activision also dropped a trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode, which is now set across an open-world map. Given the larger scope, for the first time ever, players will have to team up with other squads online in an all-out PvE battle. It appears as if the traditional round-based affair is gone, albeit there are still story elements and perks to uncover, as you hunt down endless hordes of the undead, some of whom transform into grotesque monsters that shoot laser beams out of their eyes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases November 10 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. The Urzikstan map arrives sometime in December as part of season 1 content.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Gameplay Reveal Trailer Showcases Sandbox-Like Campaign, ‘No Russian’ Mission

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III just got a gameplay reveal trailer — a slightly misleading title, given most of the footage is loaded with cinematics. Indeed, it is focused on the campaign, which sees Captain Price and his Task Force 141 take on the Russian ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov, as he extends his grasp across the world. Publisher Activision has introduced a new non-linear campaign structure called ‘Open Combat Missions,’ memorable multiplayer maps, and a Zombies mode set in an open world. Pre-orders for the game are now live across all major platforms.

In what began as a trilogy of soft reboots, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 trailer evokes memories of the Hunter Killer mission from the original 2011 title, where our team is submerged underwater, prepared to sneak their way into the enemy territory. While much of the action is presented stealthily, Activision stresses that there will be a level of freedom in how you decide to tackle a mission. In addition to the signature linear structure COD games are notorious for, this new iteration introduces ‘Open Combat Missions,’ which makes use of open-ended spaces to let the player decide if they want to take a stealthy approach with lights out and night-vision goggles or go in guns blazing. There’s more freedom for experimentation here — akin to a sandbox — as the game lets you replay missions with a new approach or loadout.

“Now we’re really leaning into our ability to have the engine adapt to the play style of the player. If you’re going to be totally quiet or go in guns blazing, the campaign will totally adapt and support however you want to play it,” David Swenson, creative director, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 told The Washington Post. The game even carries over some choice-based dialogue options from previous entries, but branches it out even further, so it reacts to player decisions. While revisiting a mission, if you happen to stumble upon a new sub-location, it might trigger new speech as well. The new feature is complemented by the multiplayer segment, which brings back 16 modernised maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, alongside more large-scale areas such as a ‘colossal War map.’

The beloved Zombies mode also returns with an extended scope that throws you into an open world environment teeming with the undead of escalating difficulty. Taking the massive map into consideration, Modern Warfare 3 will — for the first time ever — let you team up with other squads in an all-out PvE battle. That means multiple online squads will unite in their mission to thwart the zombie invasion. Other new features include the ability to cancel sliding so you can erratically avoid enemy fire while still maintaining momentum, and content carry-over that makes it so weapons and cosmetics unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be available in MW3, as well.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases November 10 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Pre-orders grant early access to the open beta and the ability to play the campaign up to a week early.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Is Still Coming to PS4 and Xbox One, Will Be a ‘Premium’ Standalone Release

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also be out on the previous-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles, despite rumours suggesting otherwise. Confusion about a last-gen launch arose when TheGamingRevolution, a COD content creator tweeted out a picture from the Microsoft store, which only showed the Xbox Series S/X logo — unprecedented for the franchise, but makes perfect sense when considering that every major studio is slowly trying to take advantage of the newer consoles’ hardware. However, with the game’s teaser claiming that both PlayStation generations would be getting a release, it felt unfair to the green team. As it turned out, it was just an error on the Microsoft store, which has since been updated to include Xbox One as well.

For now, the website leads to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0’s store page since that’s where publisher Activision has planned a worldwide reveal, scheduled for August 17. It’s going to be an in-game event, similar to those of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, both of which were unveiled inside the original Warzone game. An interesting thing to note here is that on Steam, Modern Warfare 3 was listed as an add-on, unlike previous reports which claimed that it would be a standalone $70 release. “As stated in numerous Activision Blizzard quarterly conference calls, Modern Warfare III is a premium release. It will be priced accordingly at $70 USD,” the publisher told reliable tipster CharlieINTEL in a prepared statement. The term ‘add-on’ had to do with how all CoD games would be packaged going forward — they’d all be accessible within the Call of Duty HQ launcher.

This also aligns with an InsiderGaming report, which claimed that beta codes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 followed the same ‘concept ID’ as Modern Warfare 2’s — essentially, ‘last year’s game codes, just reissued.’ The central hub will display Call of Duty MW2, MW3, and Warzone on the same menu, making it more accessible to players and enabling content carry-over. It was confirmed that this year’s title would ‘Carry Forward’ weapons and cosmetic items such as operators and skins you unlocked in Modern Warfare 2. Players can also expect MW 3 content to be integrated into the battle-royale Warzone experience, while Call of Duty: Mobile has been updated to include shared progression across the mainline games. Further details on the latter will be revealed as we inch closer to Warzone Mobile’s launch.

Previous reports also mentioned that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 would get at least two beta weekends for multiplayer testing, with the first slot solely aimed at PlayStation — set to run from October 6–10. This may or may not change as Microsoft’s attempts to acquire Activision for $69 billion (about Rs. 5,72,571 crore) continue. The second beta weekend will allegedly run from October 12–16 and grants entry to Xbox and PC players as well, and there are seemingly plans for campaign early access for pre-order customers.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 releases November 10 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Release Date Set for November 10

This year’s Call of Duty has been revealed as Modern Warfare III, and it’s coming November 10. Publisher Activision dropped a brief teaser, featuring an abstract mosaic of familiar characters from the franchise — Captain Price and Vladimir Makarov — and a voiceover saying, “Never bury your enemies alive.” There’s also the mention of ‘heads of snakes,’ which possibly alludes to the ultranationalist Russian Makarov, who also served as the main antagonist of the original MW3 (2011). Sledgehammer Games is taking the lead on developing the sequel, which is part of a trilogy of Modern Warfare soft reboots, which started back in 2019.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s release date matches a report from May, which suggested that Activision was planning a reveal sometime in early August, also implying that it was a continuation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s arc. The publisher had originally decided against dropping a standalone title this year, skipping its annual release cycle, and instead focusing on a ‘premium expansion’ that included a campaign DLC and a classic map pack. As per Bloomberg games reporter Jason Schreier, the company had a change of heart earlier this year and decided to launch it as a full-price game. The teaser is short on details, though a recent tweet from the Call of Duty account seems to indicate that weapons and operators from Modern Warfare 2 would carry over to the sequel.

This is big news for the multiplayer crowd as they won’t have to leave behind unlocked rewards and paid items from the older instalment. The method seems quite similar to a live-service experience, which was suggested by an Activision spokesperson in 2022, so it gets regularly updated with new content. Sledgehammer Games was previously in charge of developing Call of Duty: Vanguardreceived poorly — with additional support from Treyarch and Infinity Ward. The publisher rotates between these three studios for its annual releases, breaking the cycle last year and moving Treyarch’s planned title from 2023 to 2024.

Reports also claimed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 would get at least two beta weekends for multiplayer testing, with the first one solely aimed at PlayStation — set to run from October 6–10. This special treatment may change, taking Microsoft’s ongoing buyout of Activision for $69 billion (about Rs. 5,71,316 crore) into consideration. The second beta weekend will allegedly run from October 12–16 and grants entry to Xbox and PC players, as well. Keeping in tradition, a campaign early access is also expected for pre-order customers, reportedly going live on November 2. For now, there’s no telling if MW3 would also fall under the $70 category, though the franchise will be available on PlayStation for another 10 years, at least.

Activision hasn’t confirmed platforms yet, but Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is expected to make its way to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Is Bringing Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is bringing popular rappers into the game, in celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop music. As part of its Season 5 update, coming August 2, Activision confirmed that Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj will be joining the game and its battle royale counterpart, Warzone 2.0, as playable operators. Other major additions include three new multiplayer maps and several ‘War Track’ packs composed of hip-hop music to listen to in-game. The studio also teased a third operator by only showing their silhouette, but Activision’s blog post reveals it’s 21 Savage. No pricing details have been confirmed at this time but like previous collaborations, they should be available to buy as separate bundles.

Minaj’s appearance in Call of Duty was, sort of, signalled in a promo video from last year, before Modern Warfare II dropped worldwide. As per the official blog post, the artist’s look is inspired by her latest alter ego ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze,’ which coincidentally timed perfectly with the Barbie movie’s release, which led to an internet obsession with the colour pink and everything sassy. Even her assault rifle is bright pink coloured, details of which will be revealed later. Meanwhile, this marks the third in-game appearance for Snoop Dogg; he first appeared as a multiplayer announcer in Call of Duty: Ghosts and then went on to appear in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Mobile. Snoop Dogg’s rifle in the upcoming collaboration is a silenced, blue-tinted one, adorned with gold engravings that of course resemble a marijuana leaf.

Call of Duty is no stranger to weird collaborations, having recently teamed up with the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys to bring Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir into the game — each with their own brutal finishers like laser eyes. Other fun crossovers include the Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, outfits based on the Attack on Titan anime, and even adding Godzilla to the map as part of a limited-time mode in 2022. With more brand partnerships, we can only expect more outlandish operators to flood the streets, akin to how Fortnite’s been doing it for years now.

Season 5 also brings three new multiplayer maps — Livestock, an offshore Petrov Oil Rig, and Harbor flush with fish markets and shipping areas. Be prepared for some new game modes as well, starting with Havoc, which while fashioned like a classic arena shooter, injects a random selection of modifiers that’s aimed at making gameplay frenetic. Your operator’s jump heights could be affected to simulate if they were walking on the moon, landing from high altitudes might cause a grenade-like explosion around you, and more. There are some ‘big’ capture-the-flag modes coming your way, alongside Gunfight Variants, which pits you in close-quarters 2v2 and 4v4 matchups. Expect a battle pass as well, while Warzone 2.0 adds a dirt bike and an MRAP armoured vehicle to its catalogue.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s season 5 event goes live August 2 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 Release Date Leaked, Modern Warfare 2 Pre-Order to Grant Early Campaign Access

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is granting early access to its campaign segment. Those who pre-order a digital edition of the game, get to play the single-player component up to a week early, regardless of the platform, starting October 20. Furthermore, a release date for the much-anticipated Warzone 2 has leaked, with Activision Blizzard allegedly looking at a November 16 launch. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign early access

Players who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (remake) get to experience the globe-trotting operation early, as you take control of Task Force 141, a special forces unit commanded by Soap MacTavish. Players will partake in high-octane missions, set in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, as they hunt Vladimir Makarov, leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party.

This also marks the first time Activision has offered early access to the campaign, as previous instances only allowed for multiplayer access prior to launch. Offshore sieges with underwater combat and stealth missions have been completely rebuilt from the ground up, featuring improved graphics quality via photogrammetry technology. Pre-ordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 also grants access to exclusive weapon skins and early access to the multiplayer beta, coming this September.

PS4 and PS5 users gain early access to the multiplayer Modern Warfare 2 beta, running from September 16–17, which will be followed by the open beta phase, the next day, from September 18–20. Pre-orders on PC (Battle.net) and Xbox grant early access from September 22–23, with an open beta set for September 24–26. The second beta period also functions as a cross-play test, allowing PlayStation users to join in as well.

Pre-ordering the Rs. 6,699 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition offers perks such as the Red Team 141, letting you play as the four main operators — Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap — in multiplayer. A Season One Battle Pass is also included, allowing you to skip 50 tiers and claim all the rewards within, in addition to some exclusive cosmetics.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 release date leaked

An image circulating on the WoW subreddit reportedly reveals the launch dates for Warzone 2 and World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The since-deleted image shows Activision Blizzard’s internal documentation, listing the “readiness levels” for their upcoming games. As per the leak, the Warzone sequel is looking at a November 16 launch, a few weeks after the global release of Modern Warfare 2 remake.

And while random leaks from Reddit should be taken with a grain of salt, the image details a September 26 release for World of Warcraft Classic’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Blizzard announced the news about a pre-patch launch late last night, confirming the same, but the image was circulating on Reddit hours before it was taken down. WOW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King pre-patch goes live on August 30, allowing players to test out the new additions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam and Battle.net. Further details on the same will be revealed on the Call of Duty: Next digital event, set for September 15.
