The Broken News First Look: Sonali Bendre to Make OTT Debut With Zee5’s Journalism Drama

The Broken News first look is here. Zee5 has unveiled the poster for its Hindi-language adaptation of the British journalism series Press. It marks the streaming platform’s first collaboration with BBC Studios India– the production and distribution arm of the BBC. The first look introduces us to The Broken News cast, headlined by Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. The show marks Bendre’s debut on subscription-based streaming service, colloquially known as OTT (over-the-top) services. Bendre said that she chose The Broken News as the character resonated with her.

Bendre told Midday, “The first thing is I liked the script, the character I’m playing (in The Broken News) and what the show is saying. It resonates! The second part is, I’m in a phase of life where it’s more about me, I have more time. I want to do a lot more and get back to work. Though I had been working, it wasn’t priority, now it is! There’s so much fun stuff happening, that I’m feeling a little left out. Even I want to be part of it too.”

It’s yet to be seen whether The Broken News helps Bendre, who acted in popular Hindi movies such as the actioner Aag and the drama Zakhm in the 90s, begin her new innings on a good note.

Pilgaonkar and Ahlawat , on the other hand, are no strangers to the digital space. Pilgaonkar rose to fame when she played a key character in the action-packed series Mirzapur. Similarly, Ahlawat received critical acclaim for his work in the crime drama Paatal Lok and went on to appear in the Zee5 series Bloody Brothers. In addition to the lead trio, The Broken News Cast includes Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Aakash Khurana, and Kiran Kumar.

Not a lot is known about The Broken News story but we can expect it to be a bit different from the one featured in Press as, unlike the original — which dealt with print journalism — this explores the dark side of the television media. Moreover, the plot is likely to be tweaked to appeal to the Indian audience.

The Broken News release date is yet to be announced.

Acharya OTT Release Date Set for May 20 on Amazon Prime Video

Acharya is set to premiere Amazon Prime Video on May 20, the streaming platform has announced. The Telugu-language actioner comes to subscription-based streaming services, colloquially referred to as over-the-top (OTT) services, less than a month after it was released in theatres on April 29. Acharya opened to a good response at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office — earning a share of nearly Rs 29.5 crore on the first day — but failed to sustain. It collected nearly Rs. 38.45 crore in Telugu states during its full run, recovering merely 38 percent of the pre-release investment, and ended up being a commercial failure.

Headlined by Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, the Acharya cast features Pooja Hegde, Sonu Sood, Jisshu Sengupta, and Kishore in supporting roles. Kajal Aggarwal was to play Chiranjeevi’s love interest in the movie but her portions were removed as the makers felt they did not fit the narrative. This was the Gang Leader actor’s first release since the 2019 release Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Charan, on the other hand, was seen in the period drama RRR, which was released nearly a month before Acharya.

Acharya is written and directed by Koratala Siva, who previously directed movies such as the Jr NTR-led Janatha Garage and the political drama Bharat Ane Nenu, and marks his first collaboration with Chiranjeevi. It is produced by Charan under his Konidela Production Company, best known for backing the previously-mentioned Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and the actioner Khaidi No 150.

Acharya revolves around a middle-aged Naxalite-turned-reformer, played by Chiranjeevi, who locks horns with the Endowments department for misusing funds meant for temples. As the story progresses, we are introduced to Charan’s Siddha, a braveheart who protects Dharmasthali– the link between a divine river and the sacred land. Acharya’s music has been composed by Mani Sharma, who is known for his work on movies such as the action-drama Indra and the Gopichand-led Seetimaarr.

Acharya will be out May 20 on Amazon Prime Video

Scientists Believe ‘Alien’ Rock Hypatia May Reveal Details on Events That Lead to Supernova Explosions

Supernovas are one of the most mysterious as well as luminous explosions of a star in space. In fact, they are the biggest explosions that humans have ever seen. They take place so far away that it requires powerful telescopes to spot them. A supernova typically occurs during the last evolutionary stages of a massive star. Various studies are underway to understand these events. But researchers are hopeful that an extraterrestrial stone found in the Egyptian desert could help shed some light on these spectacular events. The stone is named Hypatia.

Researchers, including from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, believe this stone is the first tangible evidence of a type IA supernova found on Earth. Since 2013, some of them have discovered highly unusual chemistry clues in a small fragment of Hypatia. The experts have a hypothesis that the Hypatia stone originated with a star – a red giant star collapsed into a white dwarf star, which eventually “ate” the other star. At some point, the white dwarf exploded as a supernova type Ia inside.

“If this hypothesis is correct, the Hypatia stone would be the first tangible evidence on Earth of a supernova type Ia explosion,” Jan Kramers, a researcher on the project, revealed.

The researchers have published their findings in the journal Icarus.

In 2013, a study of the argon isotopes showed the rock was not formed on Earth. A 2015 study then indicated that it may not have originated from any known type of meteorite or comet. Three years later, the team of researchers published various analyses, which included the discovery of a mineral, nickel phosphide, not previously found in any object in our solar system.

After extensive research, this team reached the conclusion that this rock can have its existence only in type IA supernova, which happens once or twice per galaxy per century.

OnePlus Nord 2T specifications have been teased online ahead of the formal launch. The new OnePlus phone is confirmed to have an MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC. The Chinese company has also teased to offer 80W fast charging support on the OnePlus Nord 2T. Although the OnePlus Nord 2T is yet to be officially launched in the market, it is said to be available for purchase in markets including Dubai as the latest mid-range Nord phone — an upgrade to last year’s Nord 2.

Through a dedicated webpage on its UK website, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2T launch will take place at 3pm BST (7:30pm IST) on May 19. The launch date last week appeared on a YouTube video that was pulled after its brief appearance on the company’s official YouTube channel.

OnePlus Nord 2T specifications

The OnePlus UK site also gives us some details about the OnePlus Nord 2T specifications. The site shows that the smartphone will come with the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC. The chipset was announced in March but is yet to be powering a smartphone. Therefore, the OnePlus Nord 2T may be the first phone to come with the new MediaTek chip.

OnePlus has also confirmed that the Nord 2T will come with 80W SuperVOOC charging support. The proprietary fast charging technology is claimed to offer a day’s battery life in 15 minutes. Battery capacity of the phone is yet to be announced, though it is rumoured to be 4,500mAh.

The OnePlus Nord 2T is also teased to have two circular rings at the back to house its camera setup that is rumoured to have triple sensors. Further, the phone will come with a hole-punch display design.

OnePlus Nord 2T price (expected)

OnePlus Nord 2T price is yet to be officially announced. However, the phone was listed on the AliExpress site with a price tag of $399 (roughly Rs. 31,100) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration. The phone was also recently seen receiving unboxing treatment by some popular YouTubers — suggesting its availability in a few markets including Dubai.

Exact details on the India launch of the OnePlus Nord 2T are yet to be revealed. However, the phone is rumoured to be coming to the country between Rs. 30,000–40,000 price bracket, with its base variant is said to be under Rs. 30,000.

Last year, the OnePlus Nord 2 was launched in the country with a starting price of Rs. 27,999 for the entry-level model that came in 6GB + 128GB model. The phone also had an 8GB + 128GB option at Rs. 29,999 and the top-end 12GB + 256GB variant at Rs. 34,999.

Many of Top 100,000 Websites Found to Be Collecting Data Typed by Users Before Hitting ‘Submit’ Button

Some of the top 100,000 websites are found to be collecting data from their online forms even before you hit the Submit button, a study conducted by researchers has revealed. In some cases, many of these top-visited websites were even collecting password data of their visitors, without user consent. A large number of the websites collecting personal data including email addresses of their users without their prior permission appear to have this behaviour due to third-party trackers that are integrated for advertising and marketing purposes.

Conducted by researchers from Leuven, Radboud University, and University of Lausanne, the study is based on a system that enabled crawling and analysis of the top 100,000 websites from two different locations — European Union and the US. It shows that of the total number of websites analysed, as many as 1,844 websites captured data including email addresses of visitors from the EU region without their consent. In the case of a visitor coming from the US, that number increases to 2,950 websites, per the research.

In most cases, the trackers were of companies including Meta and TikTok that were getting user data from the top websites analysed. However, the researchers also noticed 41 previously unknown tracker domains that were found to be involved in capturing user data from the top websites before the users hit the Submit button.

While conducting the study, the researchers notably avoided considering cases in which websites might have legitimate reasons for collecting email addresses of users before submission. For instance, in some cases, websites check whether an email or username is already available in the database.

Nevertheless, the researchers discovered many of the popular websites where online trackers were capturing email addresses before the user gives their consent.

In the US, the top-ten websites where email addresses were found to be leaked to trackers include USAToday, Business Insider, Fox News, Time, and Trello, while in the EU, the list includes Independent, Shopify, Newsweek, and Marriott.

The researchers also found 52 websites in which third parties including Russia’s Yandex were incidentally collecting passwords before submission. Yandex rolled out a fix to prevent password collection when reached out by the researcher group.

“Based on our findings, users should assume that the personal information they enter into Web forms may be collected by trackers—even if the form is never submitted,” the researchers said in an 18-page paper detailing their study. “Considering its scale, intrusiveness and unintended side-effects, the privacy problem we investigate deserves more attention from browser vendors, privacy tool developers, and data protection agencies.”

Alongside regular capturing of email addresses, the researchers noticed that trackers of Meta and TikTok in some cases were collecting hashed personal information from Web forms. This is due to an “advanced matching” feature that is found to be responsible for capturing hashed user data including email addresses before submission.

“We believe the leaks are due to Facebook’s script interpreting clicks on irrelevant buttons as ‘submit button clicked’ events,” the researchers said.

Gadgets 360 has reached out to both Meta and TikTok for clarity on the study and will update this article when the companies respond.

Apple and other tech giants have started blocking third-party cookies and trackers to help reduce online tracking of users. However, the idea to track online visitors through email addresses could help marketers have an effective solution in place despite the ongoing restrictions.

The researchers also noted in their co-authored paper that email addresses work as an “ideal identifier” and help fill the gap for online trackers as they can allow tracking across platforms and on a longer term compared with other such parameters.

The findings from the research will be presented in detail at the Usenix security conference in August.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Camera Specifications Leak, Said to Feature a 50-Megapixel Primary Camera

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has been in the news for some time, and its launch is expected to happen alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in August 2022. A new report suggests that the latest foldable flagship from the South Korean giant will feature a well-balanced camera setup. According to the report, the handset will be packed with a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera of the phone is also said to be somewhat similar to those found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

According to a tweet by tipster Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom lens. The rumoured handset is also said to have a higher resolution sensor as compared to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. At the same time, the tipster also claimed through another tweet that the telephoto camera on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with a 3x optical zoom lens is its “strongest” ever, better than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which has 10x optical zoom with its periscope telephoto lens paired with a 10-megapixel sensor, and 3x optical zoom with its telephoto lens that’s also paired with a 10-megapixel sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 specifications(rumoured)

Although not much has been leaked about the foldable smartphone’s specifications, there have been leaks in the past regarding its enhanced performance, rear cameras and battery capacity. A report that came out last month also suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will feature a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

Besides this, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was also tipped to feature a 108-megapixel camera, last month, though now that appears to be wrong, if Ice Universe is correct. Another report recently suggested that this new foldable smartphone could come with an S Pen stylus that is said to be under mass production in several regions of Europe and Asia. However, a recent leak, on the other hand, suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 might still miss out on a built-in S Pen slot. The same report also claims that the Samsung phone will come up with a lighter weight than its predecessor.

On the battery capacity front, the handset is said to be packed with two batteries with a combined capacity of 4,270mAh. The first battery may come with a 2,002mAh and the second with a 2,268mAh capacity. Moreover, the phone is also expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset.
