Carême: Apple TV+ Announces French Drama Series About Celebrity Chef-Turned-Spy

Streaming platform Apple TV+ is coming up with Carême, a French drama series featuring the thrilling story of the world’s first celebrity chef Antonin Carême, who rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe.

Consisting of eight episodes, the series stars César Award winner Benjamin Voisin — known for Lost Illusions and Summer of 85 — in the title role of the chef.

“While he dreams only of becoming the most famous chef in the world, his talent and ambitions attract the attention of renowned and powerful politicians, who use him as a spy for France,” the streamer said about Carême in a press release.

The upcoming show is inspired by the book ‘Cooking for Kings: The Life of Antonin Carême – The First Celebrity Chef,’ penned by multi-award-winning historian and actor Ian Kelly.

Carême is created by Kelly and lead writer Davide Serino, with acclaimed filmmaker Martin Bourboulon serving as lead director on the series. It is executive produced by Vanessa van Zuylen with VVZ Production and Dominique Farrugia with Banijay’s Shine Fiction for Apple TV+.

César Award nominee Jeremie Renier as the political genius Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord and César Award winner Lyna Khoudri as Henriette, Carême’s lover and most dangerous threat, also round out the cast of the series.

Carême joins other French programming content from Apple TV+, which includes Liaison, a contemporary starring César Award winner Vincent Cassel and BAFTA Award winner Eva Green, and multilingual French-Japanese drama Drops of God, inspired by the bestselling manga from award-winning Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto, starring Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita.

Infinix Note 30 5G Price in India, Specifications Tipped Again Ahead of June 14 Launch

Infinix Note 30 5G is scheduled to launch in India on June 14. The phone was released globally earlier this year in May. It was launched alongside the Infinix Note 30 4G and Infinix Note 30 Pro. Earlier today, the company launched the Infinix Note 30 VIP model as the latest addition to the series. The Indian variant of Note 30 5G is confirmed to be unveiled in the country with a 108-megapixel primary rear camera and JBL stereo speakers. Now, a new leak suggests some more key specifications of the upcoming handset.

Tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) shared the specifications of the Infinix Note 30 5G India variant on Twitter. He also tipped the price of the smartphone. Last week, the company confirmed that the phone will be priced under Rs. 15,000 in the country. However, the tipster suggests that the 8GB + 256GB variant of the phone will be priced at Rs. 15,999.

The Infinix Note 30 5G India variant is likely to have similar specifications as the global variant. The phone is expected to sport a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is likely to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. Out of the box, the phone could boot Android 13.

In the camera department, the Indian variant of the Infinix Note 30 5G is said to include a 2-megapixel sensor and a QVGA camera unit alongside the confirmed 108-megapixel primary sensor. The front camera is likely to use a 16-megapixel sensor.

Just like the global variant, the Infinix Note 30 5G is expected to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support. The phone is also said to be equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 With Exynos W930 Chipset Surfaces on Bluetooth SIG Website: Details

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is expected to make its debut next month as the successor to the Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch from the South Korean tech conglomerate. The company’s next wearable device is tipped to feature a rotating bezel and its design was teased in renders leaked by a tipster. Ahead of the smartwatch’s debut, the details of its processor have surfaced online. The purported Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 could be powered by an Exynos chip that offers slightly better performance than the one found on the current-generation Galaxy Watch 5.

A listing for a new Samsung chip with the model name Exynos W930 was spotted by tipster Revegnus (Twitter: @Tech_Reve) on the Bluetooth SIG website. This processor bears the model number S5E5515, as per the entry on the site, which also states that the chip will be used along with a compatible RF chip to create a device with support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

It is worth noting that the model number for the W930 processor is the same as the Exynos W920 chip that powers the current-generation Galaxy Watch 5 and its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 4. This suggests that the Exynos W930 could be a slightly improved version of the processor on recent Galaxy smartwatches.

It is worth noting that this leak contradicts an earlier report that claimed the Galaxy Watch 6 would be powered by an Exynos W980 chip, which was said to be 10 percent faster than the W920 SoC that powered the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series of smartwatches.

Samsung is expected to launch new smartwatch models soon, so it is likely that the new Exynos W930 chip will feature on the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which could debut next month alongside the purported Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These devices are expected to be unveiled at the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event that will take place in South Korea at the end of July.

AMD Expected to Reveal Details on New AI ‘Superchip’ in Bid to Challenge Nvidia’s Dominance

Advanced Micro Devices on Tuesday is expected to reveal new details about an AI “super chip” that analysts believe will be a strong challenger to Nvidia, whose chips dominate the fast-growing artificial intelligence market.

AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su will give a keynote address at an event in San Francisco on the company’s strategy in the data center and AI markets. Analysts expect fresh details about a chip called the MI300, AMD’s most advanced graphics processing unit (GPU), the category of chips that companies like OpenAI use to develop products such as ChatGPT.

Nvidia dominates the AI computing market with 80 percent to 95 percent of the market share, according to analysts. Last month, Nvidia’s market capitalization briefly touched $1 trillion (roughly Rs. 82,74,320 crore) after the company said it expected a jump in revenue after it secured new chip supplies to meet surging demand.

Nvidia has few competitors working at a large scale. While Intel and several startups such as Cerebras Systems and SambaNova Systems have competing products, Nvidia’s biggest sales threat so far is the internal chip efforts at Alphabet’s Google and Amazon.com’s cloud unit, both of which rent their custom chips to outside developers.

AMD’s new chip won’t change that right away. Su told investors during an earnings call last month that the MI300 will start generating sales in the fourth quarter, but “will be more meaningful in 2024.”

As well, Nvidia’s lead has come not just from its chips, but from more than a decade of providing software tools to AI researchers and learning to anticipate what they will need in chips that take years to design.

Kevin Krewell, the principal analyst at TIRIAS Research, said AMD will have to catch up on both software and research trends.

“They have to connect with the research community to understand what the market is doing and what they need to do, well ahead of when something becomes important,” Krewell said.

Nothing Phone 2 India Launch Scheduled for July 11; Rear Panel Design Teased

Nothing Phone 2 India will launch in India on July 11, the company announced on Tuesday. The second smartphone from the UK-based startup led by OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei is confirmed to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a flagship-grade chipset that was launched last year. Nothing has also revealed that the Phone 2 will feature a 6.7-inch display and a slightly larger 4,700mAh battery. The company has also shared a teaser showing a redesigned Glyph interface on the rear panel of the Nothing Phone 2.

The smartphone maker announced the launch of the Nothing Phone on Tuesday on its website, confirming that the successor to the Nothing Phone 1 will be launched in global markets — including India — on July 11 at 8:30pm IST/ 4pm BST. The launch event will be streamed live via the company’s website as well as the company’s YouTube channel.

A teaser image for the Nothing Phone 2 was also shared by the company, showing a redesigned Glyph interface on the rear panel of the smartphone. The teaser appears to corroborate renders of the handset leaked by tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) that also show a redesigned layout for the LED strips, including the one around the camera layout.

Earlier this month, the company confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 — like its predecessor — would be manufactured in India. Nothing has also revealed that it will use recycled materials and plastic-free packaging during the production of the Nothing Phone 2 as part of the firm’s sustainability efforts.

With less than a month to go before the Nothing Phone 2 is launched, the company has already revealed some of the smartphone’s key specifications. The handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a chip that is much faster than the Snapdragon 778G+ on the Nothing Phone 1. It will be powered by a larger 4,700mAh battery.

The company has also confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will receive three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates. This means that customers who purchase the Nothing Phone 2 will receive the same duration of software support as recent flagship phones from Oppo and OnePlus. Both Samsung and Google offer five years of security updates for their currently supported smartphones.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion Release Date Set for September 26, Gets New Action-Packed Trailer

Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion finally got a release date and an action-packed trailer, revealing details about its espionage-focused story. The expansion’s new trailer was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, held Sunday, and the game is slated to drop September 26, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The add-on brings you to Dogtown, a previously unexplored, walled-off district in Night City, so you can embark on a high-stakes spy mission to save the President of the New United States of America (NUS). This new allegiance was hinted at in the first teaser for the expansion last year, also marking Keanu Reeves’ return as Johnny Silverhand.

The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty opens with the protagonist V suffering some jitters, which she claims is a sign of her imminent death. “There’s gotta be a way outta this,” Silverhand assures her, referring to a possible solution to how much Cyberware her body can handle. This is a completely redone system that adds a max capacity for how many new body modifications your character can take, with a VGC report noting that the systemic changes almost demand a new playthrough. CD Projekt Red has also added an Edgerunners perk that lets you surpass those bodily limitations while taking penalties on your overall health. It’s quite similar to the cyberpsychosis seen in the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, where installing too much Cyberware eventually makes you go berserk.

Just to be clear, Phantom Liberty won’t lean into the psychosis aspect but rather simply implement it as a high-risk-high-reward element. “We are not going as far as the introduction of cyberpsychosis though, have that in mind,” creative director Pawel Sasko said in the interview. Coming back to the trailer, we’re introduced to a new character Songbird, an NUS intelligence analyst, who’s aware of the bomb ticking inside us and claims can save our life. But there’s a catch — we need to get inside the gated community of Dogtown for an espionage mission. We then cut to the district, where President Rosalind Myers’ aircraft has crash-landed, turning the heads of its residents who intend to hold her hostage. In retaliation, a group of Sleeper Agents are deployed onto the field, which also includes Idris Elba’s (The Suicide Squad) character, FIA Agent Solomon Reed.

“Stay sharp, we are in the wolf’s den now,” Reed warns us, as we make contact with President Myers, before getting plunged into a chase sequence against a giant laser-firing spider-mech. “Someone ratted us out,” V says adamantly, which seems to be the crux of Phantom Liberty’s story — there seems to be an imposter. The trailer then devolved into a montage of action sequences involving some gunplay and V starting to lose control of her basic motor skills, upping the stakes for her survival.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty releases September 26, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms, costing Rs. 1,499 on PC and Rs. 1,745/ $29.99 on console.

Uber, Ola Bike Taxis Will Be Impounded if They Don’t Halt Operations in New Delhi

New Delhi city authorities will start impounding the bike taxis of companies such as Uber and local rival Ola if they do not cease operations in line with a court order backing a ban on them, a senior government official told Reuters on Tuesday.

India’s top court on Monday backed the city government’s ban on bike taxis in a setback for US ride-hailing company Uber which had legally challenged authorities to continue offering the services.

The government has argued that bike taxis violate local city laws that require them to have a license to offer such services, while Uber argued in the Supreme Court that the ban hurts the livelihoods of its riders.

Ashish Kundra, the principal secretary, and commissioner for transport in the Delhi government, said the companies should not chase profits and instead focus on passenger safety.

“We will issue an advisory to companies asking them to respect the court order. If they fail to do that, we will start impounding vehicles,” Kundra said.

“They have gone beyond the regulatory framework and are clearly on the wrong side of the law,” he added.

Neither Uber nor Softbank-backed Ola, the biggest providers of bike taxis in the capital, responded to a request for comment. The two companies were still offering bike taxi services on their app on Tuesday.

Uber says that in 2022, more than 1.9 million trips took place to and from metro rail stations in Delhi, a key market for ride-hailing firms, on bike taxi service Uber Moto.
